1Mechanism and its regulation of tumor-induced angiogenesis显示文摘Tumor angiogenesis is the proliferation of a network of blood vessels that penetrates into cancerous growths, supplying nutrients and oxygen and removing waste products. The process of angiogenesis plays an important role in many physiological and pathological conditions. Solid tumors depend on angiogenesis for growth and metastasis in a hostile environment. In the prevascular phase, the tumor is rarely larger than 2 to 3 mm3 and may contain a million or more cells. Up to this size, tumor cells can obtain the necessary oxygen and nutrient supplies required for growth and survival by simple passive diffusion. The properties of tumors to release and induce several angiogenic and antiangiogenic factors which play crucial roles in regulating endothelial cell (EC) proliferation, migration, apoptosis or survival, cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion through different intracellular signaling are thought to be the essential mechanisms during tumor-induced angiogenesis. Tumor angiogenesis actually starts with tumor cells releasing molecules that send signals to surrounding normal host tissue. This signaling activates certain genes in the host tissue that, in turn, make proteins to encourage growth of new blood vessels. In this review, we focus the mechanisms of tumor-induced angiogenesis, with an emphasis on the regulatory role of several angiogenic and anti-angiogenic agents during the angiogenic process in tumors. Advances in understanding the mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis have led to the development of several most effective antiangiogenic and anti-metastatic therapeutic agents and also have provided several techniques for the regulation of cancer's angiogenic switch. 2A review of TiO_2 nanoparticles显示文摘Climate change and the consumption of non-renewable resources are considered as the greatest problems facing humankind.Because of this,photocatalysis research has been rapidly expanding.TiO2 nanoparticles have been extensively investigated for photocatalytic applications including the decomposition of organic compounds and production of H2 as a fuel using solar energy. This article reviews the structure and electronic properties of TiO2,compares TiO2 with other common semiconductors used for photocatalytic applications and clarifies the advantages of using TiO2 nanoparticles.TiO2 is considered close to an ideal semi- conductor for photocatalysis but possesses certain limitations such as poor absorption of visible radiation and rapid recombination of photogenerated electron/hole pairs.In this review article,various methods used to enhance the photocatalytic characteristics of TiO2 including dye sensitization,doping,coupling and capping are discussed.Environmental and energy applications of TiO2, including photocatalytic treatment of wastewater,pesticide degradation and water splitting to produce hydrogen have been summarized.GUPTA Shipra Mital TRIPATHI Manoj 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16:31
3Alteration of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 gene expression in pancreatic tumor angiogenesis显示文摘AIM: To explore the difference of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SST2R) gene expression in pancreatic cancerous tissue and its adjacent tissue, and the relationship between the change of SST2R gene expression and pancreatic tumor angiogenesis related genes. METHODS: The expressions of SST2R, DPC4, p53 and ras genes in cancer tissues of 40 patients with primary pancreatic cancer, and the expression of SST2R gene in its adjacent tissue were determined by immunohistochemiscal LSAB method and EnVisionTM method. Chi-square test was used to analyze the difference in expression of SST2R in pancreatic cancer tissue and its adjacent tissue, and the correlation of SST2R gene expression with the expression of p53, ras and DPC4 genes.RESULTS: Of the tissue specimens from 40 patients with primary pancreatic cancer, 35 (87.5%) cancer tissues showeda negative expression of SST2R gene, whereas 34 (85%) a positive expression of SST2R gene in its adjacent tissues. Five (12.5%) cancer tissues and its adjacent tissues simultaneously expressed SST2R. The expression of SST2R gene was markedly higher in pancreatic tissues adjacent to cancer than in pancreatic cancer tissues (P<0.05). The expression rates of p53, ras and DPC4 genes were 50%,60% and 72.5%, respectively. There was a significant negative correlation of SST2R with p53 and ras genes x1^2=9.33,x2^2=15.43, P<0.01), but no significant correlation with DPC4 gene x2=2.08, P >0.05). CONCLUSION: There was a significant difference of SST2R gene expression in pancreatic cancer tissues and its adjacent tissues, which might be one cause for the different therapeutic effects of somatostatin and its analogs on pancreatic cancer patients. There were abnormal expressions of SST2R, DPC4, p53 and ras genes in pancreatic carcinogenesis, and moreover, the loss or decrease of SST2R gene expression was significantly negatively correlated with the overexpression of tumor angiogenesis correlated p53 and ras genes, suggesting that SST2R gene together with p53 and ras genes may participate in pancreatic cancerous angiogenesis.Manoj Kumar Gupta 2004World Journal of Gastroenterology2004,10,1:26

5Using lanthanum to enhance the overall ignition, hardness, tensile and compressive strengths of Mg-0.5Zr alloy显示文摘Near dense Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr(0,1,2.5 and 4) wt.% La alloys were successfully synthesized by disintegrated melt deposition technique followed by hot extrusion and were characterized for their microstructural, ignition, hardness, tensile and compression properties. Combined effects of Zr and La assisted in significant grain refinement of Mg and Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited an average grain size as low as ~2.75 μm. High ignition temperature of ~645 oC was realized with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr(1,2.5 and 4) wt.% La alloys. Microhardness value as high as ~103 Hv was observed with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La alloy. Under room temperature tensile and compression loading, significant improvements in the strength properties of pure Mg with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr(0, 1, 2.5 and 4) wt.% La was observed. Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited the maximum 0.2% tensile and compression yield strengths of ~283 MPa and ~264 MPa, respectively. The tensile and compression fracture strain values of synthesized pure Mg were found to be unaffected with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr. But the tensile fracture strain reduced with the addition of La while the compressive fracture strain was unaffected. 7Enhanced performance of nano-sized SiC reinforced Al metal matrix nanocomposites synthesized through microwave sintering and hot extrusion techniques显示文摘In the present study, nano-sized SiC(0, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 vol%) reinforced aluminum(Al) metal matrix composites were fabricated by microwave sintering and hot extrusion techniques. The structural(XRD, SEM),mechanical(nanoindentation, compression, tensile) and thermal properties(co-efficient of thermal expansionCTE) of the developed Al-SiC nanocomposites were studied. The SEM/EDS mapping images show a homogeneous distribution of SiC nanoparticles into the Al matrix. A significant increase in the strength(compressive and tensile) of the Al-SiC nanocomposites with the addition of SiC content is observed. However,it is noticed that the ductility of Al-SiC nanocomposites decreases with increasing volume fraction of SiC. The thermal analysis indicates that CTE of Al-SiC nanocomposites decreases with the progressive addition of hard SiC nanoparticles. 8Hollow silica reinforced magnesium nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical and biological properties with computational modeling analysis for mandibular reconstruction显示文摘The present study investigates Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites as biodegradable implants for orthopedic and maxillofacial applications.The effect of presence and progressive addition of hollow silica nanoparticles(0.5,1,and 1.5)vol.%on the microstructural,mechanical,degradation,and biocompatibility response of pure Mg were investigated.Results suggest that the increased addition of hollow silica nanoparticles resulted in a progressive increase in yield strength and ultimate compressive strength with Mg-1.5 vol.%SiO2 exhibiting superior enhancement.The response of Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites under the influence of Hanks’balanced salt solution revealed that the synthesized composites revealed lower corrosion rates,indicating rapid dynamic passivation when compared with pure Mg.Furthermore,cell adhesion and proliferation of osteoblast cells were noticeably higher than pure Mg with the addition of 1 vol.%SiO2 nanoparticle.The biocompatibility and the in vitro biodegradation of the Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites were influenced by the SiO2 content in pure Mg with Mg-0.5 vol.%SiO2 nanocomposite exhibiting the best corrosion resistance and biocompatibility when compared with other nanocomposites.Enhancement in mechanical,corrosion,and biocompatibility characteristics of Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites developed in this study are also compared with properties of other metallic biomaterials used in alloplastic mandibular reconstruction in a computational model.Somasundaram Prasadh Vyasaraj Manakari Gururaj Parande Raymond Chung Wen Wong Manoj Gupta 2020International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,4:2

10基于RAPD-PCR标记的印度亚麻品种遗传多样性和指纹图谱分析(英文)显示文摘栽培的亚麻(L.usitatissimum)通常为亚麻籽,以其油分和纤维而被认为是具有较高经济价值的作物之一。开发亚麻遗传资源并进一步进行遗传改良,须了解其遗传变异的范围和结构。位于坎普尔的C.S.农业科技大学种质管理单位保存有广泛收集而来的2772份栽培和野生亚麻资源。从中选出23份不同基因型栽培亚麻品种包括5份两用品种、4份种用品种、14份具有不同形态和经济特性的引进种用品种以及1份野生品系(L.grandiflorum),采用RAPD标记进行遗传多样性分析。20条随机引物共产生242条带,每条引物扩增带数为1~20条,平均为10.95条。所有基因型和位点的RAPD多态性比例为90.49%。DICE系数相似矩阵分析揭示其遗传相似性为0.63~0.97,平均相似系数为82%,说明这些亚麻品种(系)的遗传背景较窄。采用UPGMA法以及NTSYS-pc软件的SAHN聚类分析模型对遗传相似矩阵进行聚类分析,发现属于L.uitatisimums的所有栽培品种在X轴上可聚为一类,而L.grandiflorum野生种单独在Y轴上聚为一类。主成分分析结果表明,除了Shekha(r优良种用品种)和野生种L.grandiflorum广泛分布外,其他所有种用品种、两用品种和外来品种聚类很近。由于亚麻栽培品种的遗传关系相近,须对亚麻种质的各种基因型进行鉴定,以拓宽今后育种计划中的遗传基础。Prashant Shekhar Gupta Sangeeta Srivastava Manoj Kumar Srivastava Abhilash Gupta 2010广西农业科学2010,41,3:2
