| 1 | A review of TiO_2 nanoparticles显示文摘Climate change and the consumption of non-renewable resources are considered as the greatest problems facing humankind.Because of this,photocatalysis research has been rapidly expanding.TiO2 nanoparticles have been extensively investigated for photocatalytic applications including the decomposition of organic compounds and production of H2 as a fuel using solar energy. This article reviews the structure and electronic properties of TiO2,compares TiO2 with other common semiconductors used for photocatalytic applications and clarifies the advantages of using TiO2 nanoparticles.TiO2 is considered close to an ideal semi- conductor for photocatalysis but possesses certain limitations such as poor absorption of visible radiation and rapid recombination of photogenerated electron/hole pairs.In this review article,various methods used to enhance the photocatalytic characteristics of TiO2 including dye sensitization,doping,coupling and capping are discussed.Environmental and energy applications of TiO2, including photocatalytic treatment of wastewater,pesticide degradation and water splitting to produce hydrogen have been summarized. | GUPTA Shipra Mital TRIPATHI Manoj | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16: | 31 |
| 2 | Removal efficiency of fluoride by novel Mg-Cr-Cl layered double hydroxide by batch process from water显示文摘The fluoride ion removal from aqueous solution using synthesized Mg-Cr-Cl layered double hydroxide has been reported.Mg-Cr-Cl was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction,Fourier-transform infrared,thermo-gravimetric analysis,differential thermal analysis,and scanning electron microscope.Adsorption experiments were carried out in batch mode as a function of adsorption dosages,contact time,pH,and initial fluoride concentration to get optimum adsorption capacity.The adsorption kinetic study showed that the adsorption process followed first order kinetics.The fluoride removal was 88.5% and 77.4% at pH 7 with an adsorbent dose of 0.6 g/100 mL solution and initial fluoride concentration of 10 mg/L and 100 mg/L,respectively.The equilibrium was established at 40 min.Adsorption experiment data were fitted well with Langmuir isotherm with R 2 = 0.9924.Thermodynamic constants were also measured and concluded that the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic in nature.The removal percentage decreased slowly with increasing pH.This process is suitable for industrial effluents.The regeneration of the material is not possible. | Sandip Mandal Swagatika Tripathy Tapswani Padhi Manoj Kumar Sahu Raj Kishore Patel | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,5: | 7 |

| 11 | Cyanobacteria,Lyngbya aestuarii and Aphanothece bullosa as antifungal and antileishmanial drug resources显示文摘Objective:To investigate two cyanobacteria isolated from different origins i.e.Lyngbya aestuarii(L.aestuarii)from brackish water and Aphanothece bullosa(4.bullosa)from fresh water paddy fields for antifungal and antileishmanila activity taking Candida albicans and Leishmania donovain as targets.Methods:Biomass of L.aestuarii and A.bullosa were harvested after 40 and60 d respectively and lyophilized twice in methanol(100%)and redissolved in methanol(5%)for bioassay.Antifungal bioassay was done by agar well diffusion method while antileishmanial,by counting cell numbers and flageller motility observation of promastigotes and amastigotes from L.donovani.fluconazole and 5%methanol were used as control.Results:Both the cyanobacteria were found to be potent source of antifungal activity keeping fluconazole as positive control,however,methanolic crude extract(15 mg/mL)of A.bullosa was found more potent(larger inhibition zone)over that of methanolic crude extract of L.aestuarii,Similarly antileishmanial activity of crude extract(24.0 mg/mL)of A.bullosa was superior over that of methanolic crude extract of L.aestuarii(25.6 mg/mL).Conclusions:Antifungal and antileishmanial drugs are still limited in the market.Screening of microbes possessing antifungal and antileishmanial activity drug is of prime importance.Cyanobacteria are little explored in this context because most of the drugs in human therapy are derived from microorganisms,mainly bacterial,fungal and actinomycetes.Thus in the present study two cyanobacterial strains from different origins showed potent source of antifungal and antileishmanial biomolecules. | Maheep Kumar Manoj Kumar Tripathi Akanksha Srivastava Jalaj Kumar Gour Rakesh Kumar Singh Ragini Tilak Ravi Kumar Asthana | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,6: | 0 |
| 12 | A Heuristic Algorithm for Core Selection in Multicast Routing显示文摘With the development of network multimedia technology, more and more real-time multimedia applications need to transmit information using multicast. The basis of multicast data transmission is to construct a multicast tree. The main problem concerning the construction of a shared multicast tree is selection of a root of the shared tree or the core point. In this paper, we propose a heuristic algorithm for core selection in multicast routing. The proposed algorithm selects core point by considering both delay and inter-destination delay variation. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the existing algorithms in terms of delay variation subject to the end-to-end delay bound. | 13 | Analysis of silicon-based integrated photovoltaic–electrochemical hydrogen generation system under varying temperature and illumination显示文摘Last decade witnessed tremendous research and development in the area of photo-electrolytic hydrogen generation using chemically stable nanostructured photo-cathode/anode materials. Due to intimately coupled charge separation and photo-catalytic processes, it is very difficult to optimize individual components of such system leading to a very low demonstrated solar-to-fuel efficiency(SFE) of less than 1%.Recently there has been growing interest in an integrated photovoltaic–electrochemical(PV–EC) system based on Ga As solar cells with the demonstrated SFE of 24.5% under concentrated illumination condition.But a high cost of Ga As based solar cells and recent price drop of poly-crystalline silicon(pc-Si) solar cells motivated researchers to explore silicon based integrated PV–EC system. In this paper a theoretical framework is introduced to model silicon-based integrated PV–EC device. The theoretical framework is used to analyze the coupling and kinetic losses of a silicon solar cell based integrated PV–EC water splitting system under varying temperature and illumination. The kinetic loss occurs in the range of 19.1%–27.9% and coupling loss takes place in the range of 5.45%–6.74% with respect to varying illumination in the range of 20–100 m W/cm^2.
