2Neuroprotective effects of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells against cerebral ischemia are mediated in part by an anti-apoptotic mechanism显示文摘Transplantation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs) stands as a potent stroke therapy, but its exact mechanism remains unknown. This study investigated the anti-apoptotic mechanisms by which hMSCs exert neuroprotective effects on cerebral ischemia. Primary mixed cultures of rat neurons and astrocytes were cultured and exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation. A two-hour period of 'reperfusion' in standard medium and normoxic conditions was allowed and immediately followed by hMSCs and/or Bcl-2 antibody treatment. Cell viability of primary rat neurons and astrocytes was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthianol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide and trypan blue exclusion methods. hMSC survival and differentiation were characterized by immunocytochemistry, while the concentration of Bcl-2 in the supernatant was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to reveal the secretory anti-apoptotic function of hMSCs. Cultured hMSCs expressed embryonic-like stem cell phenotypic markers CXCR4, Oct4, SSEA4, and Nanog, as well as immature neural phenotypic marker Nestin. Primary rat neurons and astrocytes were protected from oxygen-glucose deprivation by hMSCs, which was antagonized by the Bcl-2 antibody. However, Bcl-2 levels in the supernatants did not differ between hMSCand non-treated cells exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation. Neuroprotective effects of hMSCs against cerebral ischemia were partially mediated by the anti-apoptotic mechanisms. 3Fast-tracking regenerative medicine for traumatic brain injury显示文摘Traumatic brain injury remains a global health crisis that spans all demographics,yet there exist limited treatment options that may effectively curtail its lingering symptoms.Traumatic brain injury pathology entails a progression from primary injury to inflammation-mediated secondary cell death.Sequestering this inflammation as a means of ameliorating the greater symptomology of traumatic brain injury has emerged as an attractive treatment prospect.In this review,we recapitulate and evaluate the important developments relating to regulating traumatic brain injury-induced neuroinflammation,edema,and blood-brain barrier disintegration through pharmacotherapy and stem cell transplants.Although these studies of stand-alone treatments have yielded some positive results,more therapeutic outcomes have been documented from the promising area of combined drug and stem cell therapy.Harnessing the facilitatory properties of certain pharmaceuticals with the anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects of stem cell transplants creates a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts.The burgeoning evidence in favor of combined drug and stem cell therapies warrants more elaborate preclinical studies on this topic in order to pave the way for later clinical trials.Brooke Bonsack Matt Heyck Chase Kingsbury Blaise Cozene Nadia Sadanandan Jea-Young Lee Cesar V. 5中国妇女使用阴道卫生棉条和卫生巾的临床单盲随机比较研究显示文摘目的 通过经期使用卫生棉条及卫生巾的随机性比较,探讨中国妇女使用卫生棉条的安全性。方法 2003-08—2004-07在首都医科大学附属北京友谊医院与上海市计划生育科研所征集300例具有规则月经周期的已婚健康育龄妇女,随机分为卫生棉条组和卫生巾对照组.并在使用产品后的第1、3、6个月经周期后行妇科检查和评分,同时取样行实验室阴道分泌物悬滴试验、氢氧化钾(KOH)试验、细菌性阴道病试验(BV.Blue)、阴道酸碱度(pH)检查。结果 在3次随访中,棉条组外阴和阴道症状发生率为0.8%(1/130)-1.4%(2/144),较卫生巾组发生率0.7%(1/136)-4.1%(6/145)略低,程度亦轻,无一例因此而终止试验。棉条组阴道炎症总感染发生率4.0%(6/150),对照组为4.6%(7/150),两组比较差异无统计学意义(P〉0.05)。试验结束时棉条组慢性宫颈炎的比例为12,3%,较试验开始时的21.3%有所下降,与对照组相似(结束时12.5%,开始时25,3%)。其中轻度宫颈糜烂入选时有27例,研究结束时为12例,且无一例中度或重度宫颈糜烂发生.此结果亦与对照组相似(入选时37例,结束时16例)。结论 卫生棉条未增加阴道感染和宫颈炎症的发生率,并且未加重宫颈炎症的程度,无不良反应,在中国妇女中使用卫生棉条是安全的。靳家玉 王建捷 贺昌海 桂幼伦 周维瑾 David Chase J 武镇忆 曹泽毅 2006中国实用妇科与产科杂志2006,22,9:3
6含引流通道的气-液聚结过滤材料的性能试验显示文摘针对空气中油雾的净化问题,对聚结纤维滤料的织物构造提出了一种优化设计。将纤维细度为2μm和6.5μm的不锈钢(SS)纤维滤料及相对应纤维细度的玻璃(G)纤维滤料分别构成内含4个垂直引流通道的多层复合滤料,用气-液聚结过滤性能试验台进行对比测试,计算分析引流通道的构建对滤料捕集效率、阻力特性及品质因数产生的影响。结果表明,在滤层内加插金属网隔片建立若干垂直引流通道对滤料阻力特性有着显著影响,其过滤性能有所改善。在相同条件下,含引流通道的滤料到达阻力稳态阶段需时更长,而且上升过程中瞬时阻力最多可降低30%~50%,品质因数可提高50%~70%。吴伊人 沈恒根 CHASE George G 2016安全与环境学报2016,16,3:2

9Protective Effects of Dimethyl-4,4'-Dimethoxy-5,6,5',6'-Dimethylene Dioxybiphenyl-2,2'-Dicarboxylate on Damages of Isolated Rat Hepatocytes Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride and D-galactosamine显示文摘The rotective effect of biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate(DDB)on chemically induced damages was studied in isolated suspended rat hepatocytes.The experimental results showed that DDB(200μg/10^6cells) efficiently protected the hepatocytes against carbon tetrachloride(CCl4 10mmol·L^-1)and D-galactosamine(1mmol·L^1)induce damages.Membranal lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde,MDA formation(and glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) release from the hepatocytes were markedly decreased.The damage of the cell surfaces of the hepatocytes were also reduced as seen under a scanning electrom microscope(SEM). 10Stroke gets in your eyes: stroke-induced retinal ischemia and the potential of stem cell therapy显示文摘Stroke persists as a global health and economic crisis,yet only two interventions to reduce stroke-induced brain injury exist.In the clinic,many patients who experience an ischemic stroke often further suffer from retinal ischemia,which can inhibit their ability to make a functional recovery and may diminish their overall quality of life.Despite this,no treatments for retinal ischemia have been developed.In both cases,ischemia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction initiates a cell loss cascade and inhibits endogenous brain repair.Stem cells have the ability to transfer healthy and functional mitochondria not only ischemic neurons,but also to similarly endangered retinal cells,replacing their defective mitochondria and thereby reducing cell death.In this review,we encapsulate and assess the relationship between cerebral and retinal ischemia,recent preclinical advancements made using in vitro and in vivo retinal ischemia models,the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in retinal ischemia pathology,and the therapeutic potential of stem cell-mediated mitochondrial transfer.Furthermore,we discuss the pitfalls in classic rodent functional assessments and the potential advantages of laser Doppler as a metric of stroke progression.The studies evaluated in this review highlight stem cell-derived mitochondrial transfer as a novel therapeutic approach to both retinal ischemia and stroke.Furthermore,we posit the immense correlation between cerebral and retinal ischemia as an underserved area of study,warranting exploration with the aim of these treating injuries together.Chase Kingsbury Matt Heyck Brooke Bonsack Jea-Young Lee Cesar V.Borlongan 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,6:2

13Inflatable rock bolt bond strength versus rock mass rating (RMR): A comparative analysis of pull-out testing data from underground mines in Nevada显示文摘The purpose of this paper is to establish confidence in anticipated minimum bond strength for inflatable rock bolts by comparing the bond strength to variable geotechnical conditions using the rock mass rating(RMR) system. To investigate a correlation between these parameters,the minimum bond strength of pull-out tested inflatable rock bolts was compared to the RMR of the rock in which these bolts were placed. Bond strength vs. RMR plots indicate that expected minimum bond strength is positively correlated with RMR; however,the correlation is not strong. Cumulative percent graphs indicate that 97% of pull-out tests result in a minimum bond strength of 3.3 and 1.7 ton/m in RMR P 45 and <45,respectively.Although lower bond strengths are more commonly encountered in low RMR ground,high bond strengths are possible as well,yielding higher variability in bond strengths in low RMR ground. Bond strength of friction bolts relies on contact between the rock bolt and drill hole. Experience in Nevada indicates that RMR is known to affect both the quality and consistency of drill holes which likely affects bond strength. Drilling and bolting in low RMR ground is more sensitive to drilling and bolting practices,and strategies for maximizing bond strength in these conditions are discussed.Barnard Chase Kallu Raj R.
