| 1 | Evaluation of a point of care ultrasound curriculum for Indonesian physicians taught by fi rst-year medical students显示文摘BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to assess the short-term efficacy of a 4-week ultrasound curriculum taught by American first-year medical students to general practitioners working in public health care clinics, or puskesmas, in Bandung, Indonesia.METHODS: We performed a prospective, observational study of Indonesian health care practitioners from public clinics in Bandung, Indonesia. These practitioners were enrolled in a 4-week ultrasound training course taught by first-year American medical students. A total of six sessions were held comprising of 38 ultrasound milestones. A pre-course and post-course written exam and practical exam was taken by each participant.RESULTS: We enrolled 41 clinicians in the course. The average pre-course exam score was 35.2% with a 2.4% pass rate, whereas the average post-course exam score was 82.0% with a 92.7% pass rate. The average practical score at the completion of the course was 83.2%(SD=0.145) with 82.9% of the class passing(score above 75.0%).CONCLUSION: Our data suggests that first-year medical students can effectively teach ultrasound to physicians in Indonesia using a 4-week intensive ultrasound training course. | 4 | Plasmonic bacteria on a nanoporous mirror via hydrodynamic trapping for rapid identification of waterborne pathogens显示文摘A rapid,precise method for identifying waterborne pathogens is critically needed for effective disinfection and better treatment.However,conventional methods,such as culture-based counting,generally suffer from slow detection times and low sensitivities.Here,we developed a rapid detection method for tracing waterborne pathogens by an innovative optofluidic platform,a plasmonic bacteria on a nanoporous mirror,that allows effective hydrodynamic cell trapping,enrichment of pathogens,and optical signal amplifications.We designed and simulated the integrated optofluidic platform to maximize the enrichment of the bacteria and to align bacteria on the nanopores and plasmonic mirror via hydrodynamic cell trapping.Gold nanoparticles are self-assembled to form antenna arrays on the surface of bacteria,such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa,by replacing citrate with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in order to amplify the signal of the plasmonic optical array.Owing to the synergistic contributions of focused light via the nanopore geometry,self-assembled nanoplasmonic optical antennas on the surface of bacteria,and plasmonic mirror,we obtain a sensitivity of detecting E.coli as low as 102 cells/ml via surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.We believe that our label-free strategy via an integrated optofluidic platform will pave the way for the rapid,precise identification of various pathogens. | Keumrai Whang Jong-Hwan Lee Yonghee Shin Wooju Lee Young Wan Kim Dongchoul Kim Luke P.Lee Taewook Kang | 2018 | Light(Science & Applications)2018，7，1： | 2 |

| 8 | Tissue-specific Tregs in cancer metastasis:opportunities for precision immunotherapy显示文摘Decades of advancements in immuno-oncology have enabled the development of current immunotherapies,which provide longterm treatment responses in certain metastatic cancer patients.However,cures remain infrequent,and most patients ultimately succumb to treatment-refractory metastatic disease.Recent insights suggest that tumors at certain organ sites exhibit distinctive response patterns to immunotherapy and can even reduce antitumor immunity within anatomically distant tumors,suggesting the activation of tissue-specific immune tolerogenic mechanisms in some cases of therapy resistance.Specialized immune cells known as regulatory T cells(Tregs)are present within all tissues in the body and coordinate the suppression of excessive immune activation to curb autoimmunity and maintain immune homeostasis.Despite the high volume of research on Tregs,the findings have failed to reconcile tissue-specific Treg functions in organs,such as tolerance,tissue repair,and regeneration,with their suppression of local and systemic tumor immunity in the context of immunotherapy resistance.To improve the understanding of how the tissue-specific functions of Tregs impact cancer immunotherapy,we review the specialized role of Tregs in clinically common and challenging organ sites of cancer metastasis,highlight research that describes Treg impacts on tissue-specific and systemic immune regulation in the context of immunotherapy,and summarize ongoing work reporting clinically feasible strategies that combine the specific targeting of Tregs with systemic cancer immunotherapy.Improved knowledge of Tregs in the framework of their tissue-specific biology and clinical sites of organ metastasis will enable more precise targeting of immunotherapy and have profound implications for treating patients with metastatic cancer. | Laura A.Huppert Michael D.Green Luke Kim Christine Chow Yan Leyfman Adil I.Daud James C.Lee | 2022 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022，19，1： | 1 |
