| 1 | Treatment of malignant digestive tract obstruction by combined intraluminal stent installation and intra-arterial drug infusion显示文摘AIM To study the palliative treatment of malignant obstrution of digestive tract with placement of intraluminal stent combined with intra-arterial infusion of chemotherapeutic drugs.METHODS A total of 281 cases of digestive tract malignant obstruction were given per oral (esophagus,stomach, duodenum and jejunum), per anal (colon and rectum ) and percutaneous transhepatic ( biliary )installation of metallic stent. Among them, 205 cases received drug infusion by cannulation of tumor supplying artery with Seldingers technique.RESULTS Altogether 350 stents were installed in 281 cases, obstructive symptoms were relieved or ameliorated after installation. Occurrence of restenotic obstruction was 8 - 43 weeks among those with intraarterial drug infusion, which was later than 4 - 26 weeks in the group with only stent installation. | 2 | Evaluation of a point of care ultrasound curriculum for Indonesian physicians taught by fi rst-year medical students显示文摘BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to assess the short-term efficacy of a 4-week ultrasound curriculum taught by American first-year medical students to general practitioners working in public health care clinics, or puskesmas, in Bandung, Indonesia.METHODS: We performed a prospective, observational study of Indonesian health care practitioners from public clinics in Bandung, Indonesia. These practitioners were enrolled in a 4-week ultrasound training course taught by first-year American medical students. A total of six sessions were held comprising of 38 ultrasound milestones. A pre-course and post-course written exam and practical exam was taken by each participant.RESULTS: We enrolled 41 clinicians in the course. The average pre-course exam score was 35.2% with a 2.4% pass rate, whereas the average post-course exam score was 82.0% with a 92.7% pass rate. The average practical score at the completion of the course was 83.2%(SD=0.145) with 82.9% of the class passing(score above 75.0%).CONCLUSION: Our data suggests that first-year medical students can effectively teach ultrasound to physicians in Indonesia using a 4-week intensive ultrasound training course. | 5 | Structural insights into substrate recognition by the type Ⅶ secretion system显示文摘Type VII secretion systems(T7SSs)are found in many disease related bacteria including Mycobacterium tuberculosis(Mtb).ESX-1[early secreted antigen 6 kilodaltons(ESAT-6)system 1]is one of the five subtypes(ESX-1?5)of T7SSs in Mfb,where it delivers virulence factors into host macrophages during infection.However,little is known about the molecular details as to how this occurs.Here,we provide high-resolution crystal structures of the C-terminal ATPase3 domains of EccC subunits from four different Mtb T7SS subtypes.These structures adopt a classic RecA-like a/p fold with a conserved Mg-ATP binding site.The structure of EccCbl in complex with the C-terminal peptide of EsxB identifies the location of substrate recognition site and shows how the specific signaling module XxxxMxF'for Mtb ESX-1 binds to this site resulting in a translation of the bulge loop.A comparison of all the ATPase3 structures shows there are significant differences in the shape and composition of the signal recognition pockets across the family,suggesting that distinct signaling sequences of substrates are required to be specifically recognized by different T7SSs.A hexameric model of the EccC-ATPase3 is proposed and shows the recognition pocket is located near the central substrate translocation channel.The diameter of the channel is?25-A,with a size that would allow helix-bundle shaped substrate proteins to bind and pass through.Thus,our work provides new molecular insights into substrate recognition for Mtb T7SS subtypes and also a possible transportation mechanism for substrate and/or virulence factor secretion. | Shuhui Wang Kaixuan Zhou Xiaolin Yang Bing Zhang Yao Zhao Yu Xiao Xiuna Yang Haitao Yang Luke WGuddat Jun Li Zihe Rao | 2020 | Protein & Cell2020,11,2: | 2 |

| 15 | An advanced 2D/3D g-C_(3)N_(4)/TiO_(2)@MnO_(2) multifunctional membrane for sunlight-driven sustainable water purification显示文摘Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))nanosheets have attracted widespread interest in the construction of advanced separation membranes.However,dense stacking and a single functionality have limited the membrane development.Here,an advanced two-/three-dimensional(2D/3D)g-C_(3)N_(4)/TiO_(2)@MnO_(2) membrane is constructed by intercalating 3D TiO_(2)@MnO_(2) nanostructures into g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheets.The 3D flower-like nanostructures broaden the transport channels of the composite membrane.The membrane can effectively separate five oil-in-water(O/W)emulsions,with a maximum flux of 3265.67±15.01 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1)·bar^(-1) and a maximum efficiency of 99.69%±0.45%for toluene-in-water emulsion(T/W).Meanwhile,the TiO_(2)@MnO_(2) acts as an excellent electron acceptor and provides positive spatial separation of electrons–holes(e^(-)–h^(+)).The formation of 2D/3D heterojunctions allows the material with wider light absorption and smaller bandgap(2.10 eV).These photoelectric properties give the membrane good degradation of three different pollutants,with about 100%degradation for methylene blue(MB)and malachite green(MG).The photocatalytic antibacterial efficiency of the membrane is also about 100%.After cyclic experiment,the membrane maintains its original separation and photocatalytic capabilities.The remarkable multifunctional and self-cleaning properties of the g-C_(3)N_(4) based membrane represent its potential value for complex wastewater treatment. | Fan Yu Chunjia Luo Xiaohan Niu Min Chao Pengfei Zhang Luke Yan | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,4: | 0 |
