2Effects of Reclamation on Soil Carbon and Nitrogen in Coastal Wetlands of Liaohe River Delta,China显示文摘To evaluate the influence of wetland reclamation on vertical distribution of carbon and nitrogen in coastal wetland soils, we measured the soil organic carbon(SOC), soil total nitrogen(STN) and selected soil properties at five sampling plots(reed marsh, paddy field, corn field, forest land and oil-polluted wetland) in the Liaohe River estuary in September 2013. The results showed that reclamation significantly changed the contents of SOC and STN in the Liaohe River estuary(P < 0.001). The SOC concentrations were in the order: oil-polluted wetland > corn field > paddy field > forest land > reed marsh, with mean values of 52.17, 13.14, 11.46, 6.44 and 6.16 g/kg, respectively. STN followed a similar order as SOC, with mean values of 1351.14, 741.04, 632.32, 496.17 and 390.90 mg/kg, respectively. Interaction of reclamation types and soil depth had significant effects on SOC and STN, while soil depth had significant effects on SOC, but not on STN. The contents of SOC and STN were negatively correlated with pH and redox potential(Eh) in reed marsh and corn field, while the SOC and STN in paddy field had positive correlations with electrical conductivity(EC). Dissolved organic carbon(DOC), ammonium nitrogen(NH_4^+-N) and nitrate nitrogen(NO_3~–-N) were also significantly changed by human activities. NH_4^+-N and NO_3~–-N increased to different degrees, and forest land had the highest NO_3~–-N concentration and lowest DOC concentration, which could have been caused by differences in soil aeration and fertilization. Overall, the results indicate that reed harvest increased soil carbon and nitrogen release in the Liaohe River Estuary, while oil pollution significantly increased the SOC and STN; however, these cannot be used as indicators of soil fertility and quality because of the serious oil pollution.WAN Siang MOU Xiaojie LIU Xingtu 2018Chinese Geographical Science2018,28,3:6
3Effects of Anthropogenic Disturbance on Sediment Organic Carbon Mineralization Under Different Water Conditions in Coastal Wetland of a Subtropical Estuary显示文摘The changes in soil organic carbon(C) mineralization as affected by anthropogenic disturbance directly determine the role of soils as C source or sink in the global C budget. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of anthropogenic disturbance(aquaculture pond, pollutant discharge and agricultural activity) on soil organic C mineralization under different water conditions in the Minjiang River estuary wetland, Southeast China. The results showed that the organic C mineralization in the wetland soils was significantly affected by human disturbance and water conditions(P < 0.001), and the interaction between human disturbance activities and water conditions was also significant(P < 0.01). The C mineralization rate and the cumulative mineralized carbon dioxide-carbon(CO_2-C)(at the 49th day) ranked from highest to lowest as follows: Phragmites australis wetland soil > aquaculture pond sediment > soil near the discharge outlet > rice paddy soil. This indicated that human disturbance inhibited the mineralization of C in soils of the Minjiang River estuary wetland, and the inhibition increased with the intensity of human disturbance. The data for cumulative mineralized CO_2-C showed a good fit(R^2 > 0.91) to the first-order kinetic model C_t = C_0(1 – exp(–kt)). The kinetic parameters C_0, k and C_0 k were significantly affected by human disturbance and water conditions. In addition, the total amount of mineralized C(in 49 d) was positively related to C_0, C_0 k and electrical conductivity of soils. 4Bi_(2)S_(3) for Aqueous Zn Ion Battery with Enhanced Cycle Stability显示文摘Aqueous Zn ion batteries(ZIBs)are promising in energy storage due to the low cost,high safety,and material abundance.The development of metal oxides as the cathode for ZIBs is limited by the strong electrostatic forces between O2−and Zn2+which leads to poor cyclic stability.Herein,Bi2S3 is proposed as a promising cathode material for rechargeable aqueous ZIBs.Improved cyclic stability and fast diffusion of Zn2+is observed.Also,the layered structure of Bi2S3 with the weak van der Waals interaction between layers offers paths for diffusion and occupancy of Zn2+.As a result,the Zn/Bi2S3 battery delivers high capacity of 161 mAh g−1 at 0.2 A g−1 and good cycling stability up to 100 cycles with ca.100%retention.The battery also demonstrates good cyclic performance of ca.80.3%over 2000 cycles at 1 A g−1.The storage mechanism in the Bi2S3 cathode is related to the reversible Zn ion intercalation/extraction reactions and the capacitive contribution.This work indicates that Bi2S3 shows great potential as the cathode of ZIBs with good performance and stability.Ting Xiong Yinming Wang Bosi Yin Wen Shi Wee Siang Vincent Lee Junmin Xue 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1:3

6A systematic approach in load disaggregation utilizing a multi-stage classification algorithm for consumer electrical appliances classification显示文摘The potential to save energy in existing consumer electrical appliances is very high. One of the ways to achieve energy saving and improve energy use awareness is to recognize the energy consumption of individual electrical appliances. To recognize the energy consumption of consumer electrical appliances, the load disaggregation methodology is utilized. Non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM) is a load disaggrega-tion methodology that disaggregates the sum of power consumption in a single point into the power consumption of individual electrical appliances. In this study, load disaggregation is performed through voltage and current waveform, known as the V-I trajectory. The classification algorithm performs cropping and image pyramid reduction of the V-I trajectory plot template images before utilizing the principal component analysis (PCA) and the k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) algorithm. The novelty of this paper is to establish a systematic approach of load disaggregation through V-I trajectory-based load signature images by utilizing a multi-stage classification algorithm methodol-ogy. The contribution of this paper is in utilizing the “k- value,” the number of closest data points to the nearest neighbor, in the k-NN algorithm to be effective in classification of electrical appliances. 7Diagnosis,severity stratification and management of adult acute pancreatitis–current evidence and controversies显示文摘Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a disease spectrum ranging from mild to severe with an unpredictable natural course.Majority of cases(80%)are mild and self-limiting.However,severe AP(SAP)has a mortality risk of up to 30%.Establishing aetiology and risk stratification are essential pillars of clinical care.Idiopathic AP is a diagnosis of exclusion which should only be used after extended investigations fail to identify a cause.Tenets of management of mild AP include pain control and management of aetiology to prevent recurrence.In SAP,patients should be resuscitated with goal-directed fluid therapy using crystalloids and admitted to critical care unit.Routine prophylactic antibiotics have limited clinical benefit and should not be given in SAP.Patients able to tolerate oral intake should be given early enteral nutrition rather than nil by mouth or parenteral nutrition.If unable to tolerate per-orally,nasogastric feeding may be attempted and routine post-pyloric feeding has limited evidence of clinical benefit.Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogram should be selectively performed in patients with biliary obstruction or suspicion of acute cholangitis.Delayed step-up strategy including percutaneous retroperitoneal drainage,endoscopic debridement,or minimal-access necrosectomy are sufficient in most SAP patients.Patients should be monitored for diabetes mellitus and pseudocyst.Kai Siang Chan Vishal G Shelat 2022World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2022,14,11:3
