1Anti-HBc screening in Indian blood donors:Still an unresolved issue显示文摘AIM:To study the seroprevalence of antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) in healthy blood donors negative for HBsAg and to evaluate whether anti-HBc detection could be adopted in India as a screening assay for HBV in addition to HBsAg. METHODS: A total of 1700 serum samples collected from HBsAg-negative healthy blood donors were tested for the presence of anti-HBc antibody (IgM + IgG). All samples reactive for anti-HBc antibody were then investigated for presence of anti-HBs and for liver function tests (LFTs). One hundred serum samples reactive for anti-HBc were tested for HBV DNA by PCR method. RESULTS: Out of 1700 samples tested, 142 (8.4%) blood samples were found to be reactive for anti-HBc. It was signif icantly lower in voluntary (6.9%) as compared to replacement donors (10.4%, P = 0.011). Seventy- two (50.7%) anti-HBc reactive samples were also reactive for anti-HBs with levels > 10 mIU/mL and 70 (49.3%) samples were non-reactive for anti-HBs, these units were labeled as anti-HBc-only. These 142 anti-HBc reactive units were also tested for liver function test. HBV DNA was detected in only 1 of 100 samples tested. CONCLUSION: Keeping in view that 8%-18% of donor population in India is anti-HBc reactive, inclusion of anti- HBc testing will lead to high discard rate. Anti-HBs as proposed previously does not seem to predict clearance of the virus. 2Effect of omeprazole and domperidone on adult asthmatics with gastroesophageal reflux显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of combined omeprazole (Ome) and domperidone (Dom) therapy on asthma symptoms and pulmonary function in asthmatics with gastroesoph- ageal reflux. METHODS: We selected 198 asthmatics with gastroesophageal reflux diagnosed by 24-h esophageal pH monitoring to receive Ome 20 mg twice daily and Dom 10 mg three times daily or placebo for 16 wk (1:1 double-blind randomization). Spirometry was done at baseline and af- ter 16 wk of treatment. The primary outcome measures were: mean daily daytime and nighttime asthma symp- tom scores. Mean daily reflux symptom scores, albuterol use as rescue medication (number of puffs), daytime and nighttime peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR), postbroncho- dilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and postbronchodilator forced vital capacity (FVC) were secondary outcome measures. RESULTS: Comparison of mean change from baseline between antireflux therapy and placebo groups revealed significant reduction in daytime asthma symptom score (17.4% vs 8.9%), nighttime asthma symptom score (19.6% vs 5.4%), reflux symptom score (8.7% vs 1.6%) and rescue medication use (23.2% vs 3.1%) after antire- flux therapy compared to mean change in placebo group (P < 0.001). There was significant improvement in morn- ing PEFR (7.9% vs 0.2%), evening PEFR (9.8% vs 0.5%), FEV1 (11.1% vs 3.78%) and FVC (9.3% vs 1.52%) in the antireflux therapy group compared to placebo on compar-ing the mean change from baseline after 16 wk (P < 0.01).Bhavneesh Sharma Manisha Sharma Mradul Kumar Daga Gopal Krishan Sachdev Elliott Bondi 2007World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,11:5

8Network selection in cognitive radio enabled Wireless Body Area Networks显示文摘In recent years,the great interest in Wireless Body Area Networks(WBANs)has been aroused significantly due to the advancement in wireless communications.In wireless communication,all WBAN nodes that monitor the human body's vital functions transfer information to a central sink node,which is directly connected to a Cognitive Radio enabled Controller called CRC.To transfer this information from a CRC to an e-health server,it requires long-range wireless networks,such as UMTS,LTE,WiMAX,WiFi,and satellite internet provider.It is challenging for a CRC to select the best networks for different WBAN data traffic,such as emergency mandatory,delay sensitive,and general monitoring.This paper proposes a scheme for selecting the best network from the available networks depending on the Quality of Service(QoS)requirements for different WBAN applications.Different multiple attribute decision-making algorithms are used in the proposed scheme.Numerical results and discussion reveal that the proposed scheme is effective in making a good network selection in situations where there is a conflict among different QoS requirements for different WBAN applications.Monish Bhatia Krishan Kumar 2020Digital Communications and Networks2020,6,1:1

11Optimization of photovoltaic power system:a comparative study显示文摘This paper presents a comparative study of P&O,fuzzy P&O and BPSO fuzzy P&O control methods by using MATLAB software for optimizing the power output of the solar PV grid array.The voltage,power output and the duty cycle of the solar PV array are well presented and analyzed with an algorithm.The model consists of 66 PV Cells connected parallel and 5 PV cells connected in series to make solar PV array.The BPSO Fuzzy method generates 43.4820 MW output power more than P&O method and 150 KW more than P&O fuzzy method.This also shows that the time response of the photovoltaic system reduces to perturbations and insures the continuity of the operation at the time in response to the continued maximum power point.It also eliminates the fluctuations around MPPT.Simulation results also revealed that BPSO fuzzy P&O controller is more effective as compare with P&O and fuzzy P&O models.Vishal Dabra Krishan Kumar Paliwal Pardeep Sharma Narender Kumar 2017Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems2017,2,1:1
12Changes of woody species diversity, horizontal and vertical distribution of stems across interior to outside within a primate rich habitat of Northeast India显示文摘The interior forest of protected area(PA)recover quickly in terms of greater diversity and structural complexity than peripheral and outsides, which may be due to high plant-frugivore interactions in the interior forest than the disturbed outsides. To describe the structural and functional differences in tree communities from interior to outside forests with in small PA, we quantitatively analyzed the vegetation of Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, a rich primate habitat of Northeast India. Vegetation was sampled at C10 cm girth at breast height by 10 m 9 500 m sized20 line transects(10 ha) laid in the interior(N = 7),peripheral(N = 7) and outside(N = 6) zones of this sanctuary. All transects were ordinated by Principal Component Analysis based on correlation between diversity and existing disturbance indices. We found significant differences(P \ 0.05) in taxonomic richness and diversity indices between the habitat. Van diagram confirmed greater unique species richness in the interior zone(64) than peripheral(28) and outside(6) zones. Overall density(ha-1) did not differed across the zones, but basal area(m2ha-1) was significantly(P \ 0.01) high in peripheral zone. Vertical distribution of stem density was linearly declined across zones(r2adj[ 0.70; P \ 0.01) with increase in the canopy height. Horizontal distribution of adult stems showed significant inverse quadratic relationship(r2adj[ 0.80; P \ 0.001), which suggests very low density of canopy forming voluminous trees in the interior zone.Immediate protection, restoration and management of interior regions are required to preserve local plant genetic diversity and also to maintain suitable habitat for threatened wildlife.Koushik Majumdar Bal Krishan Choudhary Badal Kumar Datta 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,4:1
