| 1 | Effect of Thickness of SnO_2:F over Layer on Certain Physical Properties of ZnO:Al Thin Films for Opto-electronic Applications显示文摘Bilayered FTO/AZO (fluorine doped tin oxide/aluminium doped zinc oxide) films were fabricated using a simple, cost effective spray pyrolysis technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) profiles of bilayered films showed that in the case of lower thickness FTO over layers, (002) plane of ZnO phase had the highest intensity, whereas the predominance was changed in favour of (200) plane of SnO 2 phase for higher thickness FTO over layer. UV studies showed that bilayered FTO/AZO films exhibited a sharp absorption edge as that of AZO film. The decrease in the photoluminescence (PL) peak at 420 nm with increasing FTO over layer thickness indicated a reduction in the zinc vacancies which caused a reduction in the sheet resistance (R sh ). Electrical studies revealed that, eventhough the R sh value (916Ω /□ ) of bilayered FTO (313 nm)/AZO (314 nm) film was found to be higher than that of FTO single layer film (72Ω /□ ), it was much lower than that of AZO single layer film (5661 Ω/ □). The atomic force microscopy (AFM) images reflect the characteristic features of both zinc oxide and tin oxide films. | P. Ravikumar K. Ravichandran B. | 5 | Geochemistry of groundwater, Markandeya River Basin, Belgaum district, Karnataka State, India显示文摘The Markandeya River Basin stretches geographically from 15o56′ to 16o08′ N latitude and 74o37′ to 74o58′ E longitude, positioned in the midst of Belgaum district, in the northern part of Karnataka. The groundwater quality of 54 pre-monsoon samples in the Markandeya River Basin was evaluated for its suitability for drinking and irrigation purposes by estimating pH, EC, TDS, hardness and alkalinity besides major cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+) and anions (HCO3–, Cl–, SO42–, PO43-, F-, NO3–), boron, SAR, % Na, RSC, RSBC, chlorinity index, SSP, non-carbonate hardness, Potential Salinity, Permeability Index, Kelley’s ratio, Magnesium hazard and Index of Base Exchange. Negative Index of Base Exchange indicates the chloro-alkaline disequilibrium in the study area and the majority of water samples fall in the rock dominance field based on Gibbs’ ratio. Permeability indices of classes I and II suggest suitability of groundwater for irrigation. Based on Cl, SO4, HCO3 concentrations, water samples can be classified as normal chloride (96.3%) and normal sulfate (94.4%) and normal bicarbonate (44.4%) water types. | Ravikumar P. | 11 | Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Optical Absorption Studies on Copper Ions in Mixed Alkali Cadmium Phosphate Glasses显示文摘Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR) and optical absorption studies were carried out at room temperature on copper doped mixed alkali cadmium phosphate(LiNaCdP) glasses to understand the nature and symmetry of dopant.Three samples with varying concentrations of alkali ions have been prepared.The spin Hamiltonian parameters obtained from room temperature EPR spectra are:g =2.437,g⊥=2.096,A =117×10-4 cm-1,A⊥=26×10-4 cm-1 for LiNaCdP1,g =2.441,g⊥=2.088,A =121×10-4 cm-1,A⊥=25×10-4 cm-1 for LiNaCdP2 and g =2.433,g⊥=2.096,A =125×10-4 cm-1,A⊥=32×10-4 cm-1 for LiNaCdP3.These EPR results indicate that the dopant Cu2+ ion enters the glass matrix into a tetragonally elongated octahedral site.The bonding parameters evaluated by correlating optical and EPR data suggest that bonding between the central metal ion and ligands is partially covalent.The mixed alkali effect in cadmium phosphate glasses was reported. | G.
