1头颈部鳞癌:CT灌注有助于无创性预测瘤内微血管密度显示文摘目的在头颈部鳞癌评估中.确定CT灌注成像参数与瘤内微血管密度的相关性。方法此项符合HIPPA的前瞻性研究得到了当地伦理委员会批准,所有参加本研究的病人均签署知情同意书。13例进展期头颈部鳞癌病人(Ⅲ和Ⅳ期)进行了颈部CT增强、CT灌注成像和原发肿瘤的内镜活检。病人的平均年龄为57.4岁(范围为41~78岁)。经小鼠抗人类CD31抗体免疫染色后,检测瘤内微血管密度。记录每一标本在10个高倍视野(×400)下的平均染色微血管数目。L. 2Heavy metal concentrations in soils and plants in the vicinity of Arufu lead-zinc mine, Middle Benue Trough, Nigeria显示文摘This study focused on the influence of base metal mining on heavy metal levels in soils and plants in the vicinity of Arufu lead-zinc mine, Nigeria. Soil samples (0-15 cm depth) and plant samples were collected from cul-tivated farmlands in and around the mine, the unmineralized site and a nearby forest (the control site). The samples were analyzed for heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Pb, Cr and Cd) by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The physical properties of soils (pH and LOI) were also measured. Results showed that soils from cultivated farm-lands have neutral pH values (6.5-7.5), and low organic matter contents (<10%). Levels of Zn, Pb and Cd in culti-vated soils were higher than the concentrations obtained from the control site. These heavy metals are most probably sourced from mining and agricultural activities in the study area. Heavy metal concentrations measured in plant parts decreased in the order of rice leaves>cassava tubers>peelings. In the same plant species, metal levels decreased in the order of Zn>Fe>Mn>Cu>Pb>Cr>Cd. Most heavy metals were found in plant parts at average concentrations normally observed in plants grown in uncontaminated soil, however, elevated concentrations of Pb and Cd were found in a few cassava samples close to the mine dump. A stepwise linear regression analysis identified soil metal contents, pH and LOI as some of the factors influencing soil-plant metal uptake.Nganje T.N. Adamu C.I. Although multiple therapeutic modalities exist, there is no single monotherapy that has proven exceptional in ameliorating the symptoms of this disease. Current topical and systemic therapeutic options offer benefit but carry varying degrees of adverse effects that often limit their application. 4Numerical assessment of spacing–burden ratio to effective utilization of explosive energy显示文摘The spacing–burden(S/B) ratio plays significant role on rock fragmentation and proper utilization of explosive energy to minimize the undesirable damage.Low S/B ratio generates fine fragments due to pressure rings coalescence of two blast holes,whereas boulder generations were observed above optimum S/B ratio.Both conditions are not acceptable because of wastage of explosive energy.Therefore,to resolve this issue,a numerical model study was conducted to optimize the S/B ratio and to envisage its effect on rock fragmentation based on utilization of explosive energy.Finite element simulation tool was used to see the extent of two blast hole influence area variation with varying S/B ratio.The better results were obtained at S/B ratio of 1:2 with optimum utilization of peak explosive energy.The performance was observed based on peak kinetic energy,peak pressure,radial and hoop stresses on centre of the two blast holes,where pressure rings coalescence.Sazid Mohd Singh T.N. 2015International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2015,25,2:3

6Evaluation of hydrogeochemical characteristics of groundwater in parts of the lower Benue Trough,Nigeria显示文摘The aim of this work is to evaluate the hydrogeochemical characteristics of groundwater in parts of the lower Benue Through in Nigeria as well as to evaluate the variation in groundwater chemistry data and the suitability of the groundwater for drinking and other domestic purposes.This was based on chemical analyses of 44 water samples from existing wells and boreholes in the study area.From the statistical analysis(wide ranges,median and standard deviation),it is obvious that there are significant variations in the quality/composition of groundwater in the period of sampling.The calculated SAR,Na% and RSC values indicated that the water is of excellent to good quality and is suitable for irrigation.Na and HCO3 are dominant with respect to the chemical composition of the groundwater.On the basis of water chemistry,hydrochemical indices and factor analysis the dominant controls or processes affecting the distribution of geochemical variables in the study area have been shown to be water/rock interaction which is mainly controlled by carbonate and silicate dissolution as well as anthropogenic influence to a lesser extent.Additional processes include cation exchange reactions and reverse ion exchange to a minor extent.Nganje T.N.
