| 1 | Acute pancreatitis in pregnancy显示文摘Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a rare event in pregnancy, occurring in approximately 3 in 10 000 pregnancies. The spectrum of AP in pregnancy ranges from mild pancreatitis to serious pancreatitis associated with necrosis, abscesses, pseudocysts and multiple organ dysfunction syndromes. Pregnancy related hematological and biochemical alterations infl uence the interpretation of diagnostic tests and assessment of severity of AP. As in any other disease associated with pregnancy, AP is associated with greater concerns as it deals with two lives rather than just one as in the non-pregnant population. The recent advances in clinical gastroenterology have improved the early diagnosis and effective management of biliary pancreatitis. Diagnostic studies such as endoscopic ultrasound, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and therapeutic modalities that include endoscopic sphincterotomy, biliary stenting, common bile duct stone extraction and laparoscopic cholecystectomy are major milestones in gastroenterology. | 3 | Contemporary role of multi-tract percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the treatment of complex renal calculi显示文摘Complex renal calculi remain to be a challenge for the treating urologist due to sheer bulk and the technicalities involved.Percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL)remains the treatment modality of choice in dealing with these large and complex stones.The limiting factor in their treatment continues to be the need for using additional tracts or the use of flexible nephroscopy for complete stone clearance.This systematic review focuses on the need for multi-tract PCNL for complex renal calculi.The literature review was performed using PubMed database using the keywords“multiple tract PCNL”or“multiperc”.We identified original articles published on the usage of multiple tracts for stone clearance in renal calculi between January 2000 to October 2018,and the search was restricted to available literature in English language only.Ten studies with n>20 were included for the final analysis.We analyzed the technical efficacy with respect to the number of tracts and stages that were required for stone clearance,outcomes and complications,especially,procedural bleeding and post-procedure infective complications of multiple-tract PCNL for large burden renal stones.Multiperc is found to be safe,feasible and effective for the management of large burden complex renal calculi with respect to stone clearance and morbidity associated with the procedure.It is cost effective and complete stone clearance as a single procedure is higher in comparison to flexible ureteroscopy and shockwave lithotripsy. | Sudharsan Balaji Arvind Ganpule Thomas Herrmann Ravindra Sabnis Mahesh Desai | 2020 | Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,2: | 11 |
| 4 | Insecticidal,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of bulb extracts of Allium sativum显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the insecticidal,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of bulb extracts of Allium sativum(A.sativum).Methods:Dried bulbs of A.sativum were extracted with different solvents and evaluated for insecticidal,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.Results: Aqueous and methanol extracts showed highest insecticidal activity(mortality rate of 81%and 64%respectively) against the larvae of Spodoptera litura(S.litura) at a concentration of 1000 ppm.With regard to antimicrobial activity,aqueous extract exhibited antibacterial activity against gram positive(Bacillus subtilis,Staphylococcus aureu,) and gram negative(Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia) strains and antifungal activity against Candida albicans.While methanol extract showed antimicrobial activity against all the tested micro organisms except two(Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans),the extracts of hexane,chloroform and ethyl acetate did not show any anti microbial activity.Minimum inhibitory concentration of aqueous and methanol extracts against tested bacterial and fungal strains was 100-150μg/mL. | 5 | Approaches for Optimal Planning of Energy Storage Units in Distribution Network and Their Impacts on System Resiliency显示文摘In the recent decade,a significant increase in the penetration level of renewable energy sources(RESs)into the distribution grid is evident due to the world’s shift towards clean energy and to increase the reliability or inboard manner resiliency of electrical distribution system.RES based microgrids are the most favorable option available,especially to enhance resiliency.However,the integration of RES over the distribution grid would hamper the grid stability due to its stochastic nature under normal conditions.During extreme weather conditions,RES behavior is completely uncertain.Hence there is a need to eliminate the adverse effects caused by the RES and make the distribution grid more reliable and stable under normal and resilient conditions.To address these issues,many researchers proposed several methods to place energy storage units(ESUs)and microgrids(RES integrated),which can support critical loads at an optimal location in the distribution system during normal and extreme conditions,respectively.The aim of this article is to consolidate and review the research towards various approaches to formulate the problem(optimal location,allocation,and operation of ESU and microgrids to face regular and extreme weather condition)and tools to solve it for enhanced system flexibility and resiliency.Based on the review,a generalized methodology has been designed to adapt the inputs and address both conditions.At the end of the review,future aspects for ESU to strengthen resistance and resiliency of its own are presented,which can be helpful to further improve the reliability and resiliency of the distribution system. | Balaji Venkateswaran V Devender K.Saini Madhu Sharma | 2020 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2020,6,4: | 4 |

| 8 | Metal organic framework-combustion: A one-pot strategy to NiO nanoparticles with excellent anode properties for lithium ion batteries显示文摘NiO nanoparticles with average particles size of 30 nm are synthesized using a one-pot metal–organic framework-combustion(MOF-C) technique, for use as an anode material in rechargeable lithium ion batteries(LIBs). The structural and electronic properties of these nanoparticles are studied using various techniques, including powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and N_2 adsorption/desorption studies. The as-synthesized NiO nanoparticles sustained reversible stable capacities of 748 and 410 mAh/g at applied current densities of 500 and 1000 m A/g, respectively, after 100 cycles. Furthermore, the anode displays a notable rate capability, achieving a stable capacity of ~200 mAh/g at a high current density of10 A/g. These results indicate that the size of the NiO nanoparticles and their high surface area influence their electrochemical properties. | 9 | Phase-pure Na3V2(PO4)2F3 embedded in carbon matrix through a facile polyol synthesis as a potential cathode for high performance sodium-ion batteries显示文摘In this study,a pseudo-layered Na super-ionic conductor of Na3V2(PO4)2F3 (NVPF)/C cathode for sodium-ion batteries is prepared successfully using a facile polyol refluxing process without any impurity phases.The X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement results confirm that NVPF possesses tetragonal NASICON-type lattice with a space group of P42/mnm.In this preparative method,polyol is utilized as a solvent as well as a carbon source.The presence of nanosized NVPF particles in the carbon network is confirmed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM).The existence of carbon is analyzed by Raman scattering and elemental analysis.When applied as a Na-storage material in a potential window of 2.0-4.3 V,the electrode exhibits two flat voltage plateaus at 3.7 and 4.2 V with an electrochemically active V^3+/V^4+ redox couple.In addition,Na3V2(PO4)2F3/C composite achieved a retention capacity of ~ 88% even after 1,500 cycles at 15 C.Moreover,at high current densities of 30 and 50 C,Na3V2(PO4)2F3/C cathode retains the specific discharge capacities of 108.4 and 105.9 mAh·g-1,respectively,revealing the structural stability of the material prepared through a facile polyol refluxing method. | Sohyun Park Jinju Song Seyeon Kim Balaji Sambandam Vinod Mathew Sungjin Kim Jeonggeun Jo Seokhun Kim Jaekook Kim | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,4: | 4 |

| 12 | SDN assisted Stackelberg Game model for LTE-WiFi offloading in 5G networks显示文摘The data traffic that is accumulated at the Macro Base Station(MBS)keeps on increasing as almost all the people start using mobile phones.The MBS cannot accommodate all user’s demands,and attempts to offload some users to the nearby small cells so that the user could get the expected service.For the MBS to offload data traffic to an Access Point(AP),it should offer an optimal economic incentive in a way its utility is maximized.Similarly,the APs should choose an optimal traffic to admit load for the price that it gets from MBS.To balance this tradeoff between the economic incentive and the admittance load to achieve optimal offloading,Software Defined Networking(SDN)assisted Stackelberg Game(SaSG)model is proposed.In this model,the MBS selects the users carefully to aggregate the service with AP,so that the user experiencing least service gets aggregated first.The MBS uses the Received Signal Strength Indicator(RSSI)value of the users as the main parameter for aggregating a particular user for a contract period with LTE and WiFi.Each player involved in the game tries to maximize their payoff utilities,and thus,while incorporating those utilities in real-time scenario,we obtain maximum throughput per user which experiences best data service without any lack in Quality of Experience(QoE).Thus,the proposed SaSG model proves better when compared with other game theory models,and hence an optimal data offloading is achieved. | Sudha Anbalagan Dhananjay Kumar Gunasekaran Raja Alkondan Balaji | 2019 | Digital Communications and Networks2019,5,4: | 3 |

ES of patella is a rare entity. The patient was presented with anterior knee pain and swelling arising from the patella. She was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by wide excision of the patella and reconstruction of the extensor mechanism using split tendoachilles auto graft. The patella is an uncommon site for primary or metastatic tumors of the bone. ES, though rare, should be included in the differential diagnosis of swellings arising from the patella. | 14 | Soil-Landscape Estimation and Evaluation Program(SLEEP)to predict spatial distribution of soil attributes for environmental modeling显示文摘The spatial distribution of surface and subsurface soil attributes is an important input to environmental modeling.Soil attributes represent an important input to the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT),which influence the accuracy of the modeling outputs.An ArcGIS-based tool was developed to predict soil attributes and provide inputs to SWAT.The essential inputs are digital elevation model and field observations.Legacy soil data/maps can be used to derive observations when recent field surveys are not available.Additional layers,such as satellite images and auxiliary data,improve the prediction accuracy.The model contains a series of steps(menus)to facilitate iterative analysis.The steps are summarized in deriving many terrain attributes to characterize each pixel based on local attributes as well as the characteristics of the contributing area.The model then subdivides the entire watershed into smaller facets(subdivisions of subwatersheds)and classifies these into groups.A linear regression model to predict soil attributes from terrain attributes and auxiliary data are established for each class and implemented to predict soil attributes for each pixel within the class and then merged for the entire watershed or study area.SLEEP(Soil-Landscape Estimation and Evaluation Program)utilizes Pedo-transfer functions to provide the spatial distribution of the necessary unmapped soil data needed for SWAT prediction.An application of the tool demonstrated acceptable accuracy and better spatial distribution of soil attributes compared with two spatial interpolation techniques.The analysis indicated low sensitivity of SWAT prediction to the number of field observations when SLEEP is used to provide the soil layer.This demonstrates the potential of SLEEP to support SWAT modeling where soil data is scarce. | Feras M.Ziadat Yeganantham Dhanesh David Shoemate Raghavan Srinivasan Balaji Narasimhan Jaclyn Tech | 2015 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,3: | 3 |

| 17 | The Role of the Charged Residues of the GP2 Helical Regions in Ebola Entry显示文摘The glycoprotein(GP) of Ebola is the sole structural protein that forms the spikes on the viral envelope. The GP contains two subunits,GP1 and GP2,linked by a disulfide bond,which are responsible for receptor binding and membrane fusion,respectively. In this study,the full length of GP gene of Ebola Zaire species,2028 base pairs in length,was synthesized using 38 overlapping oligonucleotides by multiple rounds of polymerase chain reaction(PCR) . The synthesized GP gene was shown to be efficiently expressed in mammalian cells. Furthermore,an efficient HIV-based pseudotyping system was developed using the synthetic GP gene,providing a safe approach to dissecting the entry mechanism of Ebola viruses. Using this pseudotyping system and mutational analysis,the role of the charged residues in the GP2 helical regions was examined. It was found that substitutions of the most charged residues in the regions did not adversely affect GP expression,processing,or viral incorporation,however,most of the mutations greatly impaired the ability of GP to mediate efficient viral infection. These results demonstrate that these charged residues of GP2 play an important role in GP-mediated Ebola entry into its host cells.
