| 1 | Environment friendly hydrothermal synthesis of carbon–Co3O4 nanorods composite as an efficient catalyst for oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘The design of cost-effective, highly active catalysts for hydrogen energy production is a vital element in the societal pursuit of sustainable energy. Water electrolysis is one of the most convenient processes to produce high purity hydrogen. Cobalt-based catalysts are well-known electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction(OER). In this article, all these merits indicate that the present cobalt nanocomposite is a promising electrocatalyst for OER. C–Co_3O_4-nanorods catalyst with nanorod structure was synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of CoCl_2·6H_2O/dextrose/urea mixture at 180 °C for 18 h and then calcined at400 °C for 3.5 h. The role of dextrose percentage in solution to achieve the uniform coating of carbon on the surface of Co_3O_4-nanorods has been demonstrated. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrum(XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller instrument(BET). Due to its unique morphology, the C–Co_3O_4-nanorods catalyst exhibited better activity than Co_3O_4-microplates catalyst for OER in 1 M KOH aqueous solution. | 2 | Therapeutic targets and delivery challenges for Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Dementia,including Alzheimer’s disease,the 21st Centuryepidemic,is one of the most significant social and health crises which has currently afflicted nearly 44 million patients worldwide and about new 7.7 million cases are reported every year.This portrays the unmet need towards better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease pathomechanisms and related research towards more effective treatment strategies.The review thus comprehensively addresses Alzheimer’s disease pathophysiology with an insight of underlying multicascade pathway and elaborates possible therapeutic targets-particularly anti-amyloid approaches,anti-tau approaches,acetylcholinesterase inhibitors,glutamatergic system modifiers,immunotherapy,antiinflammatory targets,antioxidants,3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitors and insulin.In spite of extensive research leading to identification of newer targets and potent drugs,complete cure of Alzheimer’s disease appears to be an unreached holy grail.This can be attributed to their ineffective delivery across blood brain barrier and ultimately to the brain.With this understanding,researchers are now focusing on development of drug delivery systems to be delivered via suitable route that can circumvent blood brain barrier effectively with enhanced patient compliance.In this context,we have summarized current drug delivery strategies by oral,transdermal,intravenous,intranasal and other miscellaneous routes and have accentuated the future standpoint towards promising therapy ultimately leading to Alzheimer’s disease cure. | Preshita Desai Harshad Shete Rahul Adnaik John Disouza Vandana Patravale | 2015 | World Journal of Pharmacology2015,4,3: | 4 |

| 6 | Taste masking of ciprofloxacin by ion-exchange resin and sustain release at gastric-intestinal through interpenetrating polymer network显示文摘The aim of the study was to taste mask ciprofloxacin(CP)by using ion-exchange resins(IERs)followed by sustain release of CP by forming interpenetrating polymer network(IPN).IERs based on the copolymerization of acrylic acid with different cross linking agents were synthesised.Drug-resin complexes(DRCs)with three different ratios of drug to IERs(1:1,1:2,1:4)were prepared&evaluated for taste masking by following in vivo and in vitro methods.Human volunteers graded ADC 1:4,acrylic acid-divinyl benzene(ADC-3)resin as tasteless.Characterization studies such as FTIR,SEM,DSC,P-XRD differentiated ADC 1:4,from physical mixture(PM 1:4)and confirmed the formation of complex.In vitro drug release of ADC 1:4 showed complete release of CP within 60 min at simulated gastric fluid(SGF)i.e.pH 1.2.IPN beads were prepared with ADC 1:4 by using sodium alginate(AL)and sodium alginate-chitosan(AL-CS)for sustain release of CP at SGF pH and followed by simulated intestinal fluid(SIF i.e.pH 7.4).FTIR spectra confirmed the formation of IPN beads.The release of CP was sustain at SGF pH(<20%)whereas in SIF media it was more(>75%).The kinetic model of IPN beads showed the release of CP was non-Fickian diffusion type. | A.Michael Rajesh Shreya A.Bhatt Harshad Brahmbhatt Pritpal Singh Anand Kiritkumar Mangaldas Popat | 2015 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2015,10,4: | 2 |
