1Node Coverage Algorithms in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Mobile Agents显示文摘This paper proposes fault tolerant algorithms for routing mobile agents in a single channel wireless sensor network which cover every node in the network. These algorithms use local knowledge (assume no knowledge of global deployment or topology, etc). We propose the algorithms and show mathematical analysis to support our claims. 2Gastric remnant twist in the immediate post-operative period following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy显示文摘Twist of stomach remnant post sleeve gastrectomy is a rare entity and difficult to diagnose pre-operatively. We are reporting a case of gastric volvulus post laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, which was managed conservatively. A 38-year-old lady with a body mass index of 54 underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Sleeve gastrectomy was performed over a 32 French bougie using Endo-GIA tri-stapler. On post-operative day 1, patient had nausea and non-bilious vomiting. An upper gastrointestinal gastrografin study on postoperative days 1 and 2 revealed collection of contrast in the fundic area of stomach with poor flow distally, and she vomited gastrograffin immediately post procedure. With the suspicion of a stricture in the mid stomach as the cause, the patient was taken back for a exploratory laparoscopy and intra-operative endoscopy. We found a twist in the gastric tube which was too tight for the endoscope to pass through. This was managed conservatively with a long stent to keep the gastric tube straight and patent. The stent was discontinued in 7 d and the patient did well. In laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy the stomach is converted into a tube and is devoid of its supports. If the staples fired are not aligned appropriately, it can predispose this stomach tube to undergo torsion along its long axis. Such a twist can be avoided by properly aligning the staples and by placing tacking sutures to the omentum and new stomach tube. 33D printed microfluidic devices:a review focused on four fundamental manufacturing approaches and implications on the field of healthcare显示文摘In the last fewyears,3D printing has emerged as a promising alternative for the fabrication ofmicrofluidic devices,overcoming some of the limitations associated with conventional soft-lithography.Stereolithography(SLA),extrusion-based technology,and inkjet 3D printing are three of the widely used 3D printing technologies owing to their accessibility and affordability.Microfluidic devices can be 3D printed by employing a manufacturing approach from four fundamental manufacturing approaches classified as(1)direct printing approach,(2)mold-based approach,(3)modular approach,and(4)hybrid approach.To evaluate the feasibility of 3D printing technologies for fabricating microfluidic devices,a review focused on 3D printing fundamental manufacturing approaches has been presented.Using a broad spectrum of additive manufacturing materials,3D printed microfluidic devices have been implemented in various fields,including biological,chemical,and material synthesis.However,some crucial challenges are associated with the same,including low resolution,low optical transparency,cytotoxicity,high surface roughness,autofluorescence,non-compatibility with conventional sterilization methods,and low gas permeability.The recent research progress in materials related to additive manufacturing has aided in overcoming some of these challenges.Lastly,we outline possible implications of 3D printed microfluidics on the various fields of healthcare such as in vitro disease modeling and organ modeling,novel drug development,personalized treatment for cancer,and cancer drug screening by discussing the current state and future outlook of 3D printed‘organs-on-chips,’and 3D printed‘tumor-on-chips.’We conclude the review by highlighting future research directions in this field.Viraj Mehta Subha N.Rath 2021Bio-Design and Manufacturing2021,4,2:6
4Super enhancer inhibitors suppress MYC driven transcriptional amplification and tumor progression in osteosarcoma显示文摘Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone sarcoma that mostly occurs in young adults. The causes of osteosarcoma are heterogeneous and still not fully understood. Identification of novel, important oncogenic factors in osteosarcoma and development of better, effective therapeutic approaches are in urgent need for better treatment of osteosarcoma patients. In this study, we uncovered that the oncogene MYC is significantly upregulated in metastastic osteosarcoma samples. In addition, high MYC expression is associated with poor survival of osteosarcoma patients. Analysis of MYC targets in osteosarcoma revealed that most of the osteosarcoma super enhancer genes are bound by MYC. Treatment of osteosarcoma cells with super enhancer inhibitors THZ1 and JQ1 effectively suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells. Mechanistically,THZ1 treatment suppresses a large group of super enhancer containing MYC target genes including CDK6 and TGFB2. 6Evaluation of a Direct Rapid Immunohistochemical Test (dRIT) for Rapid Diagnosis of Rabies in Animals and Humans显示文摘Presently the gold standard diagnostic technique for rabies is the direct immunofluorescence assay ( dFA) which is very expensive and requires a high level of expertise. There is a need for more economical and user friendly tests, particularly for use in developing countries. We have established one such test called the direct rapid immunohistochemical test (dRIT) for diagnosis of rabies using brain tissue. The test is based on capture of rabies nucleoprotein (N) antigen in brain smears using a cocktail of biotinylated monoclonal antibodies specific for the N protein and color development by streptavidin peroxidase-amino ethyl carbazole and counter staining with haematoxollin. The test was done in parallel with standard FAT dFA using 400 brain samples from different animals and humans. The rabies virus N protein appears under light microscope as reddish brown particles against a light blue background. There was 100 % correlation between the results obtained by the two tests. Also, interpretation of results by dRIT was easier and only required a light microscope. 7Determination of flavonoids,polyphenols and antioxidant activity of Tephrosia purpurea:a seasonal study显示文摘OBJECTIVE:Tephrosia purpurea(Linn.) Pers.is widely used in traditional medicine to treat liver disorders,febrile attacks,enlargement and obstruction of liver,spleen,and kidney.In the present study,investigations were carried out to determine the seasonal impact on the content of flavonoid glycosides and on antioxidant activities so as to identify the optimal time of harvesting.METHODS:The plant materials were collected in different seasons during 2013-2014.Air-dried,powdered plant materials were extracted with 95%ethanol and ethanokwater(1:1) by ultrasound-assisted extraction process.Their chemical composition in terms of total polyphenol and flavonoid contents(TPCs and TFCs) was determined using modified colorimetric Folin-Ciocalteu method and aluminum chloride colorimetric assay respectively.To determine the in vitro antioxidant activity,diphenyl-picryl hydrazyl(DPPH) radical-scavenging assay and total antioxidant capacity by phosphomolybdate antioxidant assay were carried out.High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)/photo-diode array(PDA) analysis was used to quantify the flavonoid glycosides in the samples collected in different seasons.Correlation studies were also carried out between antioxidant activities and TPCs.RESULTS:The highest TPC and TFC were found to be in the 95%ethanolic extract of the August sample and the lowest in the 50%hydro-alcoholic extract of the plant sample collected in winter season.It was observed that in both the assays used to determine the antioxidant activity,the 95%ethanolic extracts in all the seasons showed a higher activity than their respective 50%hydroalcoholic extracts with an increase in activity as we go from cold to hot to rainy seasons.Based on correlation analysis,DPPH radical-scavenging activities as well as the spectrophotometrically measured phosphomolybdenum complex were also strongly correlated with TPC of the extracts.The most abundant flavonoid glycoside was quercetin-3-O-rhamnoglucoside in all the seasons.The content of all flavonoids was observed highest in the 95%ethanolic extract of the plant collected in August(TP-3).The 50%hydro-alcoholic extract of the plant collected in December(TP-6) showed the lowest amount of flavonoids and antioxidant activity.CONCLUSION:The findings of this study confirmed that the metabolism and production of flavonoids in T.purpurea are vigorously affected by seasonal factors.Significant differences were observed in the TPC,TFC and flavonoid glycoside composition in the 95%ethanolic as well as 50%hydro-alcoholic extracts of T.purpurea collected in different seasons.Since the 95%ethanolic extract of the August sample(TP-3),which also happens to be its flowering season,exhibited the highest TPC.TFC and antioxidant activities in both DPPH and phosphomolybdate assays as well as contained the highest content of all flavonoids,it could be recommended as the optimal season of harvesting T.purpurea with respect to its pharmaceutically important constituents,i.e.,flavonoids.Madan Mohan Pandey Sayyada Khatoon Subha Rastogi Ajay Kumar Singh Rawat 2016Journal of Integrative Medicine2016,14,6:3
8Energy feedback and synchronous dynamics of Hindmarsh–Rose neuron model with memristor显示文摘We analyze the energy aspects of single and coupled Hindmarsh–Rose(HR) neuron models with a quadratic flux controlled memristor. The energy function for HR neuron with memristor has been derived and the dynamics have been analyzed in the presence of various external stimuli. We found that the bursting mode of the system changes with external forcing. The negative feedback in Hamilton energy function effectively stabilizes the chaotic trajectories and controls the phase space. The Lyapunov exponents have been plotted to verify the stabilization of trajectories. The energy aspects during the synchronous dynamics of electrically coupled neurons have been analyzed. As the coupling strength increases, the average energy fluctuates and stabilizes at the point of synchronization. When the neurons are coupled via chemical synapse,the average energy variations show three important regimes: a fluctuating regime corresponding to the desynchronized, a stable region indicating synchronized and a linearly increasing regime corresponding to the amplitude death states have been observed. The synchronization transitions are verified by plotting the transverse Lyapunov exponents. 12Total laparoscopic removal of accessory gallbladder:A case report and review of literature显示文摘Accessory gallbladder is a rare congenital anomaly occurring in 1 in 4000 births, that is not associated with any specific symptoms. Usually this cannot be diagnosed on ultrasonography and hence they are usually not diagnosed preoperatively. Removal of the accessory gallbladder is necessary to avoid recurrence of symptoms. H-type accessory gallbladder is a rare anomaly. Once identified intra-operatively during laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the surgery is usually converted to open. By using the main gallbladder for liver traction and doing a dome down technique for the accessory gallbladder, we were able to perform the double cholecystectomy with intra-operative cholangiogram laparoscopically. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed in 27-year-old male for biliary colic. Prior imaging with computer tomography-scan and ultrasound did not show a duplicated gallbladder. Intraoperatively after ligation of cystic artery and duct an additional structure was seen on its medial aspect. Intraoperative cholangiogram confirmed the patency of intra-hepatic and extra-hepatic biliary ducts. Subsequent dissection around this structure revealed a second gallbladder with cystic duct(H-type). Pathological analysis confirmed the presence of two gallbladders with features of chronic cholecystitis. 16Optimizing the aeration performance of a perforated pooled circular stepped cascade aerator using hybrid ANN-PSO technique显示文摘Artificial aeration system for aquaculture ponds becomes essential to meet the oxygen requirement posed by the aquatic species.The performance of an aerator is generally mea-sured in terms of standard aeration efficiency(SAE),which is significantly affected by the different geometric and dynamic parameters of the aerator.Therefore,to enhance the aer-ation performance of an aerator,these parameters need to be optimized.In the present study,a perforated pooled circular stepped cascade(PPCSC)aerator was developed,and the geometric and dynamic parameters of the developed aerator were optimized using the hybrid ANN-PSO technique for maximizing its aeration efficiency.The geometric parameters include consecutive step width ratio(W_(i-1)/W_(i))and the perforation diameter to the bottom-most radius ratio(d/R_(b)),whereas the dynamic parameter includes the water flow rate(Q).A 3–6-1 ANN model coupled with particle swarm optimization(PSO)approach was used to obtain the optimum values of geometric and dynamic parameters correspond-ing to the maximum SAE.The optimal values of the consecutive step width ratio(W_(i-1)/W_(i)),the perforation diameter to the bottom-most radius ratio(d/R_(b)),and the water flow rate(Q)for maximizing the SAE were found to be 1.15,0.0027 and 0.0167 m^(3)/s,respectively.The cross-validation results showed a deviation of 3.07%between the predicted and experimen-tal SAE values,thus confirming the adequacy of the proposed hybrid ANN-PSO technique.Subha M.Roy C.M.Pareek Rajendra Machavaram C.K.Mukherjee 2022Information Processing in Agriculture2022,9,4:2
