A Chromosome-Scale Genome Assembly of Paper Mulberry(Bmussonetia papyrifera)Provides New Insights into Its Forage and Papermaking Usage显示文摘Paper mulberry(Broussonetia papyrifera)is a well-known woody tree historically used for Cai Lun papermaking, one of the four great inventions of ancient China.More recently,Paper mulberry has also been used as forage to address the shortage of feedstuff because of its digestible crude fiber and high protein contents. In this study,we obtained a chromosome-scale genome assembly for Paper mulberry using integrated approaches, including Illumina and PacBio sequencing platform as well as Hi-C,optical,and genetic maps. The assembled Paper mulberry genome consists of 386.83 Mb,which is close to the estimated size, and 99.25%(383.93 Mb)of the assembly was assigned to 13 pseudochromosomes.Comparative genomic analysis revealed the expansion and contraction in the flavonoid and lignin biosynthetic gene families, respectively, accounting for the enhanced flavonoid and decreased lignin biosynthesis in Paper mulberry. Moreover, the increased ratio of syringyl-lignin to guaiacyl-lignin in Paper mulberry underscores its suitability for use in medicine, forage, papermaking, and barkcloth making. We also identified the rootassociated microbiota of Paper mulberry and found that Pseudomonas and Rhizobia were enriched in its roots and may provide the source of nitrogen for its stems and leaves via symbiotic nitrogen fixation.Collectively, these results suggest that Paper mulberry might have undergone adaptive evolution and recruited nitrogen-fixing microbes to promote growth by enhancing flavonoid production and altering lignin monomer composition. Our study provides significant insights into genetic basis of the usefulness of Paper mulberry in papermaking and barkcloth making, and as forage. These insights will facilitate further domestication and selection as well as industrial utilization of Paper mulberry worldwide. | Xianjun Peng Hui Liu Peilin Chen Feng Tang Yanmin Hu Fenfen Wang Zhi Pi Meiling Zhao Naizhi Chen Hui Chen Xiaokang Zhang Xueqing Yan Min Liu Xiaojun Fu Guofeng Zhao Pu Yao Lili Wang He Dai Xuming Li Wei Xiong Wencai Xu Hongkun Zheng Haiyan Yu Shihua Shen | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,5: | 18
Influence of Ren and Du meridian electro-acupuncture on neural stem cell proliferation and extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway in a rat model of focal cerebral ischemia injury显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that electro-acupuncture at the Ren meridian could improve proliferation of subventricular zone neural stem cells in cerebral-ischemic rats. However, there are few reports on the influence of electro-acupuncture at the Du meridian on neural stem cell proliferation. OBJECTIVE:To observe the influence of electro-acupuncture at Ren and Du meridians on neural stem cell proliferation in the subventricular zone and altered signal transduction in cerebral ischemia rats. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Human Anatomy,Medical College of Sun Yat-sen University from May 2006 to February 2008. MATERIALS:Mouse anti-rat bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) monoclonal antibody was provided by Sigma,USA; mouse anti-rat nestin monoclonal antibody and extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) specific inhibitor PD98059 were provided by Calbiochem,Germany; acupuncture needle was provided by Suzhou Acupuncture Supplies,China. METHODS:A total of 126 rats were randomly assigned to four groups:model (n = 36),Du meridian (n = 36),Ren/Du meridian (n = 36),and Ren/Du meridian + PD98059 (n = 18). Rats in the Ren /Du meridian + PD98059 group were observed on days 7 (n = 6) and 14 (n = 12) after cerebral ischemia injury. Rats in the model,Du meridian, and Ren/Du meridian groups were observed on days 7,14,and 28 after cerebral ischemia injury, with 12 rats per group at each time point. Thread occlusion was used to establish middle cerebral artery occlusion models. Electro-acupuncture was performed at Renzhong (DU 26) and Baihui (DU 20) acupoints in the Du meridian group,as well as Chengjiang (RN 24),Guanyuan (RN 4),Renzhong,and Baihui acupoints in the Ren/Du meridian and Ren/Du meridian + PD98059 groups 2 days after model establishment. In addition,electro-acupuncture stimulation with disperse-dense waves was performed, with 30 Hz disperse wave,100 Hz dense wave, and 5 V intensity for 20 minutes. Rats in the Ren/Du meridian + PD98059 group were treated with 0.2 μg PD98059 injection into the subventricular zone,2 μL per rat. Rats in the model group were not treated with electro-acupuncture. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:BrdU/nestin immunofluorescent staining was used to detect proliferating neural stem cells in the subventricular zone of cerebral ischemia rats; Western blot was used to determine phosphorylated ERK1 and 2 (pERK1/2) expression in the subventricular zone. RESULTS:On days 14 and 28 after cerebral ischemia, there were significantly more BrdU-positive and BrdU/nestin-positive cells in the Ren /Du meridian group compared with the Du meridian group (P < 0.05). PD98059 decreased the number of BrdU-positive and BrdU/nestin-positive cells induced by electro-acupuncture at the Ren and Du meridians (P < 0.05). On days 7,14,and 28 after treatment,pERK1/2 expression was significantly greater in the Du meridian and Ren/Du meridian groups compared with the model group (P < 0.05). The promoting effect of electro-acupuncture at Ren and Du meridians on ERK1/2 phosphorylation was superior to electro-acupuncture at the Du meridian alone on day 14 after model induction (P < 0.05). However,PD98059 completely abolished the promoting effect of electro-acupuncture at Ren/Du meridians on pERK1/2 expression (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION:Electro-acupuncture at Ren and Du meridians increased proliferation of subventricular zone neural stem cells, which was related to activation of the ERK pathway in a rat model of cerebral ischemia injury. | Wenshu Luo Haibo Yu Zhuoxin Yang Min Pi Lihong Diao Xiaodan Rao | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,6: | 14
Electro-acupuncture at Conception and Governor vessels and transplantation of umbilical cord bloodderived mesenchymal stem cells for treating cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cell transplantation is a novel means of treating cerebral ischemia/reperfusion,and can promote angiogenesis and neurological functional recovery.Acupuncture at Conception and Governor vessels also has positive effects as a treatment for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion.Therefore,we hypothesized that electro-acupuncture at Conception and Governor vessels plus mesenchymal stem cell transplantation may have better therapeutic effects on the promotion of angiogenesis and recovery of neurological function than either treatment alone. In the present study, human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells were isolated, cultured, identified and intracranially transplanted into the striatum and subcortex of rats at24 hours following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion.Subsequently,rats were electro-acupunctured at Conception and Governor vessels at 24 hours after transplantation.Modified neurological severity scores and immunohistochemistry findings revealed that the combined interventions of electro-acupuncture and mesenchymal stem cell transplantation clearly improved neurological impairment and up-regulated vascular endothelial growth factor expression around the ischemic focus. The combined intervention provided a better outcome than mesenchymal stem cell transplantation alone. These findings demonstrate that electro-acupuncture at Conception and Governor vessels and mesenchymal stem cell transplantation have synergetic effects on promoting neurological function recovery and angiogenesis in rats after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. | Haibo Yu Pengdian Chen Zhuoxin Yang Wenshu Luo Min Pi Yonggang Wu Ling Wang | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,1: | 13
Combinatorial effects of conception and governor vessel electroacu-puncture and human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells on pathomorphologic lesion and cellular apoptosis in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the combinatorial effects of conception and governor vessel electroacupuncture(EA) and human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells(HUCB-MSCs) on pathomorphologic lesion and cellular apoptosis in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. METHODS: With the HUCB-MSCs isolated, cultured and identified and the models of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion established, the HUCB-MSCs of passage three were intracranially transplanted and the EA at conception and governor vessels was applied. The pathomorphologic lesion by hematoxylin-eosin staining and the cellular apoptosis by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick-end labeling method around the ischemic focus were observed. RESULTS: The cultured adherent HUCB-MSCs exhibited a spindle shape and expressed MSC-specific markers, with the cell purity and proliferation rate significantly increasing after the primary passage. HE staining showed that there were no pathological changes observed in the sham surgery group. However, in the PBS transplantation group, degeneration and necrosis of a great number of nerve cells were seen. In both the HUCB-MSCs transplantation group and the HUCB-MSCs transplantation + EA group, reparative changes of the pathomorphism of the tissue were found. Both combination treatment and simple MSCs treatment were able to improve the pathomorphorlogic lesion following cerebral ischemia and reduce the abnormal TUNEL-positive numbers, with former better than latter. CONCLUSION: HUCB-MSCs improve pathological lesions and inhibit the cellular apoptosis around the cerebral ischemic area. EA at conception and governor vessels also improve pathological lesion and inhibit the cellular apoptosis in rats treated with HUCB-MSCs transplantation, which effects were superior to that of simple HUCB-MSCs transplantation. | Zhuoxin Yang Pengdian Chen Haibo Yu Wenshu Luo Min Pi Yonggang Wu Ling Wang Fuxia Yang Yanhua Gou | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,6: | 5
Effect of electro-acupuncture on basic fibroblast growth factor protein and mRNA expression in hippocampal dentate gyrus of spleen deficiency rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Spleen deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine refers to the functional disorder of spleen, pancreas, intestines, and nervous system in modern medicine.OBJECTIVE: To test whether electro-acupuncture could alter basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) protein and mRNA expression in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of spleen deficiency rats.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: The randomized, controlled,in vivo animal experiment was performed at the National Level-B Laboratory of Clinical Cell Molecule and Biology in Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, between March and November in 2008.MATERIALS: Reserpine injection was produced by Guangdong Bangmin Pharmaceutical Co.Rhubarb extract granule preparation was produced by Guangdong Yifang Pharmaceutical.Huanqiu Brand sterile acupuncture pin was provided by Suzhou Acupuncture Supplies,China.Huatuo Brand electroacupuncture instrument (type SDZ-II) was purchased from Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory,China.METHODS: A total of 96 male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to control (n = 32) and induction (n = 64) groups.Spleen deficiency was induced via intraperitoneal injection of reserpine and intragastric administration of rhubarb. The successful models were randomized into two groups: model and electro-acupuncture,with 32 rats in each group.Elec-tro-acupuncture was administered at Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) acupoints using a condensation wave and rarefaction (condensation wave 15 Hz) at a strength of 6–15 V for 20 minutes, once per day.The appearance of a slight shiver in the corresponding locus was taken as the standard.According to electro-acupuncture time points, each group was assigned to four subgroups at 7,14,28,and 49 days, respectively, with eight rats in each subgroup.Immunohistochemical staining, image analysis, and reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction were performed at different time points.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: bFGF protein and mRNA expression in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of spleen deficiency rats.RESULTS: After 7 days of electro-acupuncture therapy,bFGF protein and mRNA expression significantly increased compared with the model and control groups (P < 0.05).After 14 days,bFGF protein and mRNA expression decreased until 28 days, where levels were then equal to the model group and greater than the control group (P < 0.05).After 49 days, the above indices remained increased in the electro-acupuncture group compared to the model and control groups (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Continuous electro-acupuncture maintained a high level of bFGF protein and mRNA expression in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of spleen deficiency rats. | Zhuoxin Yang Yuanyuan Zhuo Haibo Yu Min Pi Mumin Shao | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,2: | 4
Polydopamine-modified chitin conduits with sustained release of bioactive peptides enhance peripheral nerve regeneration in rats显示文摘The introduction of neurotrophic factors into injured peripheral nerve sites is beneficial to peripheral nerve regeneration. However, neurotrophic facto rs are rapidly degraded in vivo and obstruct axonal regeneration when used at a supraphysiological dose, which limits their clinical benefits.Bioactive mimetic peptides have been developed to be used in place of neurotrophic factors because they have a similar mode of action to the original growth fa ctors and can activate the equivalent receptors but have simplified sequences and structures. In this study,we created polydopamine-modified chitin conduits loaded with brain-derived neurotrophic factor mimetic peptides and vascular endothelial growth fa ctor mimetic peptides(Chi/PDA-Ps).We found that the Chi/PDA-Ps conduits were less cytotoxic in vitro than chitin conduits alone and provided sustained release of functional peptides. In this study,we evaluated the biocompatibility of the Chi/P DA-Ps conduits.Brain-derived neurotrophic factor mimetic peptide and vascular endothelial growth fa ctor mimetic peptide synergistically promoted prolife ration of Schwann cells and secretion of neurotrophic factors by Schwann cells and attachment and migration of endothelial cells in vitro. The Chi/P DA-Ps conduits were used to bridge a 2 mm gap between the nerve stumps in rat models of sciatic nerve injury. We found that the application of Chi/PDA-Ps conduits could improve the motor function of rats and reduce gastrocnemius atrophy. The electrophysiological results and the microstructure of regenerative nerves showed that the nerve conduction function and re myelination was further resto red. These findings suggest that the Chi/PDA-Ps conduits have great potential in peripheral nerve injury repair. | Ci Li Song-Yang Liu Li-Ping Zhou Tian-Tian Min Meng Zhang Wei Pi Yong-Qiang Wen Pei-Xun Zhang | 2022 | Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,11: | 2
Electroacupuncture at Du channel and meridian of foot-Taiyang for hippocampal neurons in rats with depression显示文摘BACKGROUND: Long-term anti-depression treatment can promote the regeneration of hippocampal regeneration. Up-regulation of hippocampal regeneration can reverse or prevent against the injury of stress to cerebrum, especially to hippocampal structure and function. Therefore, promoting hippocampal neuronal regeneration may be a new strategy for treating depression and anxiety. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electro-acupuncture at Du channel and meridian of foot-Taiyang on hippocampal neurons from model rats of depression. DESIGN: A randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Shenzhen Affiliated Hospital,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: Twenty-four Wistar rats,of either gender, aged 2 months old, weighing 200-220 g,were provided by the Animal Experimental Center,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. METHODS: This experiment was carried out in the Clinical Molecular Biochemical Laboratory,Shenzhen Affiliated Hospital,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between October 2006 and April 2007. ①The involved rats were randomized into 4 groups according to body mass: blank control group, model group, electroacupuncture A group and electroacupuncture B group, with 6 in each. Rats in the blank control group were free to access to water, and were not given any intervention. Rats in the latter 3 groups were developed into rat depression models by chronic stress combined with feeding alone, and received 21-day unpredictable various stresses. Rats in the model group were euthanized at 14 days after modeling, and their brain tissues were harvested. Rats in the electroacupuncture A group were modeled, then points 'Baihui' and 'Shenting' were chosen, and given electroacupuncture, once a day,20 minutes once. Rats in the electroacupuncture B group were modeled, then points 'Baihui','Shenting','Xinshu'and 'Ganshu' were chosen, and frequency and therapeutic time were the same as those of electroacupuncture A group. Rats in the latter 2 groups were also given electroacupuncture, and their brain tissues were harvested 14 days later. ②Index evaluation: Neurons in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions as well as dentate gyrus neuron specific enolase (NSE)-positive cells were counted by immunofluorescent technique. Each rat was weighted on the day of grouping and before execution at 35 days. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neuron amount in each hippocampal region and body mass of rats in each group. RESULTS: Twenty-four rats were involved in the final analysis. ①Neuronal amount in each region of hippocampus: Neurons in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions as well as dentate gyrus of rats in the model group were significantly less than those in the blank control group (P < 0.01). Neurons in hippocampal CA1and CA3 regions as well as dentate gyrus of rats in the electroacupuncture A and B groups were more than those in the model group (P < 0.05). ② Change in body mass of rats: Body mass increase of rats in the model group was less than that in the blank control group (P < 0.05),and body mass increase of electroacupuncture A and B groups was significantly more than that in the model group, respectively (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture at Du channel and meridian of foot-Taiyang alleviates hippocampal neuronal injury of rats, and thereby, improves depression and promotes the increase of body mass of rats. | Min Pi Wenshu Luo Lihong Diao Xiaodan Rao Haibo Yu Zhuoxin Yang | 2007 | Neural Regeneration Research2007,2,6: | 2

Cr(Ⅲ) removal from simulated solution using hydrous magnesium oxide coated fly ash: Optimization by response surface methodology (RSM)显示文摘Hydrous magnesium oxide coated fly ash(MFA) has environmental remediation potential by providing a substrate for the adsorption of aqueous Cr(Ⅲ). Aqueous Cr(Ⅲ) adsorption onto MFA was examined as a function of MFA dosage, p H and initial Cr(Ⅲ) concentration with the Box–Behnken approach used for experimental design and optimization using response surface methodology(RSM). p H and dosage(dosage and concentration) have significant interactive effects on Cr(Ⅲ) adsorption efficiency. Analysis of variance shows that the response surface quadratic model is highly significant and can effectively predict the experimental outcomes. Cr(Ⅲ) removal efficiency of 98% was obtained using optimized conditions of MFA dosage, p H and initial Cr(Ⅲ) concentration of 1.57 g·L^(-1), 4.11 and 126 mg·L^(-1), respectively. Cr(Ⅲ) adsorption onto MFA is mainly attributed to the interaction between Cr(Ⅲ) and the functional group \\OH of the hydrous magnesium oxide, in all probability caused by chemisorptions. The results of this study can conduce to reveal the interactions between Cr(Ⅲ) pollutant and MFA characteristics, posing important implications for the cost-effective alternative adsorption technology in the treatment of heavy metal containing wastewater. | Min Xia Chunsong Ye Kewu Pi Defu Liu Andrea R. | 17 | Effect of electroacupuncture on synaptic transmission in dentate gyrus of the hippocampus in cerebral ischemic injured rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Some studies suggest that the long-term potentiation (LTP) of synaptic transmission may be the basis for the neural synaptic plasticity of hippocampus, but can be evoked by various factors including electroacupuncture. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture on the activities of basic synaptic transmission in dentate gyrus of hippocampus and the changes of high frequency stimulation (HFS) induced activity of synaptic transmission in cerebral ischemic injured rats. DESIGN: A randomized control trial. SETTING: Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated to Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: Sixty healthy male Wistar rats, weighing 150-250 g, were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The experiment began after adaptation of environment for 1 week under standard experimental environment. The main experimental instruments included the programming electrical acupuncture apparatus (PCEA, product of the Institute of Acupuncture and Meridians, Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and multichannel physiologic recorder (RM-86, Nihon Konden). METHODS: The experiment was carried out in Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between July 2003 and July 2004. ① Embedding of brain electrodes: In reference of the Pellegrino’s rat brain atlas, the bipolar electrode stimulator was embedded into the perforant path (PP) anterior to the entorhinal area with location coordinates of AP 7.5 mm, L 4.2 mm and H 3.0 mm, that is, 7.5 mm posterior to the anterior fontanelle, 4.2 mm laterally on the right side and 3.0 mm under the subcortex. The subcortex recorder electrode coordinates are AP 3.8 mm, L 2.5 mm and H 3.5 mm, located in the granular cell layer of the unilateral dentate gyrus (DG) of hippocampus, at the site of which an opening with the diameter of 1.5 mm was drilled for the purpose of embedding of the stimulating and recording electrodes, and at the site by mild adjusting the positions of these electrodes where maximal population spike (PS) was recorded, fastened the electrodes at last. ② The 60 rats were randomized into two major groups, namely, fundamental stimulation (FS) group (basic group) and high frequency stimulation (HFS) group. Each group was further divided into three subgroups respectively: Sham-operated subgroup (n=10): only exposed bilateral common carotid arteries without blocking their blood flow; Cerebral ischemia model subgroup (n=10): exposing bilateral common carotid arteries and blocking their blood flow; Ischemia plus electroacupuncture subgroup (n=10): blocked blood flow of bilateral common carotid arteries and received electroacupuncture. The electroacupuncture acupoints were the points of Du meridian, including Baihui (GV20), Dazhui (GV14), and points of Ren meridian, including Qihai (CV6) and Guanyuan (CV4). ③ Process of electroacupuncture: All the rats underwent testing stimulation (1/30 Hz frequency and 0.1 ms breadth) at 30 minutes before modeling, PS values were recorded as the indexes of the excitation of DG granular cell population, and the data were input to computer for data analysis. During the experiment, the intensity of stimulation was kept stable by adopting 1/2 the value of stimulation intensity that could induce maximal PS amplitude. In the basic group, PS were recorded for 120 minutes after modeling, and among the rats in the electroacupuncture group, PS was recorded at 10 minutes before and 60 minutes after blocking blood flow in the carotid artery during continuous electrical acupuncture. In the HFS group, HFS was given immediately after modeling, PS were recorded for 180 minutes at 10 minutes after HFS was given in the sham-operated group and model group, rats in the electroacupuncture group were treated with electroacupuncture for 60 minutes at 30 minutes after HFS was given, and PS was recorded for 180 minutes after 10 minutes. LTP was triggered by HFS and PS values were determined and recorded through measuring stimulations respectively 0, 10, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes after the evokes. ④ Methods for expressing the level of synaptic transmission: Each testing stimulus provoked one PS, and 10 successive amplitude values (V/mV) were averaged relevant to a certain time cut. The averaged PS of 6 time cuts at 30 minutes before modeling was made as basal synaptic transmission level as control. Synaptic transmission at each time cut was expressed as: p=(Vdifferent time cut/Vbasal)×100%. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The differences of synaptic transmission level were compared among the subgroups in the basic group after models also among the subgroups in the HFS group after HFS. RESULTS: All the 60 rats were involved in the analysis of results. ① Comparison of synaptic transmission level at different time cut after modeling and the effect of electroacupuncture in the subgroups of the basic group: The synaptic transmission level in the sham-operated subgroup had no significant change within 120 minutes (P > 0.05). The synaptic transmission levels at 10, 30 and 60 minutes in the model subgroup were obviously lower than those in the sham-operated group [(60±7)%, (90±3)%, (93±4)%; (100±5)%, (102±6)%, (105±7)%, P < 0.05-0.01]. With the prolongation of time for ischemia/reperfusion, the synaptic transmission level gradually ascended to the normal level, and those at 90 and 120 minutes were close to those in the sham-operated group (P > 0.05). In the subgroup of electroacupuncture, the synaptic transmission levels at 10, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes were obviously higher than those in the model subgroup [(93±5)%, (106±10)%, (123±16)%, (145±20)%, (168±25)%; (96±7)%, (98±8)%, P < 0.05-0.01]. ② Comparison of synaptic transmission level at different time cut after HFS and the effect of electroacupuncture in the groups: In the sham-operated group, the synaptic transmission level after HFS increased significantly, and maintained without decrease within 180 minutes. In the model group, the synaptic transmission level at 0, 10, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes after HFS were obviously lower than those in the sham-operated group [(60±7)%, (95±9)%, (138±11)%, (141±13)%, (140±13)%, (138±15)%; (100±6)%, (182±21)%, (179 ±18)%, (177±18)%, (175±23)%, (178±24)%, P < 0.01]. The synaptic transmission level at 60, 120 and 180 minutes after HFS in the electroacupuncture group were close to those in the sham-operated group (P > 0.05), those at 120 and 180 minutes after HFS in the electroacupuncture group were obviously higher than those in the model group [(171±22)%, (181±25)%, P < 0.05-0.01]. CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture could enhance the basic activity of synaptic transmission in the dentate gyrus of hippocampus in cerebral ischemic injury in rats. Electroacupuncture has obvious LTP effect on the activity of synaptic transmission induced by HFS. | Haibo Yu Zhuoxin Yang Ling Wang Min Pi Jiawei Zhang | 2006 | Neural Regeneration Research2006,1,1: | 0
Time-dependent effects of electroacupuncture at the Ren channel on extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 expression in focal cerebral ischemia rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: The onset of focal cerebral ischemia activates extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2, regulates cell cycle, promotes cell proliferation and differentiation, and affects the normal stage and function of brain cells. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture at the Ren channel on extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 expression in the lateral cerebral ventricle wall of rats with focal cerebral ischemia. The effects were analyzed at different time points after intervention. DESIGN: Randomized controlled study. SETTING: Department of Anatomy, Sun Yat-Sen University. MATERIALS: A total of 60 healthy adult male Wistar rats weighing (250±10) g were provided by the Experimental Animal Center, Medical College of Sun Yat-Sen University. The animal experiment was conducted with confirmed consent by the local ethics committee. The GB6805-Ⅱ electric acupuncture apparatus was provided by Shanghai Medical Equipment High-techno Company. METHODS: The experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Anatomy, Sun Yat-Sen University, from February to July 2007. All experimental animals were randomly divided into the following groups: normal group (n = 6), sham operation group (n = 18), model group (n = 18), and electroacupuncture group (n = 18). Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) was performed in the model group and electroacupuncture group. Zea Longa's grading standard was used to assess neurological impairment after reperfusion; animals whose grades were between 1 and 4 were included in this study. The normal control group was not exposed to MCAO. In sham operation animals, the right common carotid artery (CCA) was isolated, and the external carotid artery (ECA) was damaged, but no embolism was induced. The electroacupuncture group was given acupuncture on the second day after surgery. The acupoint locations were chosen according to Experimental Acupuncture (People's Publishing House; 1997; First Edition). The Chengjiang, Qihai, and Guanyuan acupoints were labeled and connected to a G6805 electroacupuncture apparatus with sparse-dense waves (sparse waves were 30 Hz, dense waves were 100 Hz), with a frequency of 6-15 V. The duration was 20 minutes. Two days after surgery, the model and sham operation groups were placed with their backs on the operating table, but they received no acupuncture. However, the normal group received acupuncture. The experimental animals under anesthesia were sacrificed on days 7, 14, and 28 post-surgery. Western blot analysis was used to measure expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 in the inferior region of the lateral cerebral ventricle wall. Expression was measured in the normal group at time points corresponding to the sham operation group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 in the inferior region of the lateral cerebral ventricle wall at different time points after intervention. RESULTS: All 60 rats were included in the final analysis, without any loss. Seven days after MCAO, there was no significant difference in extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 expression in the electroacupuncture group compared to the model group (P > 0.05). However, extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 expression significantly increased in the model group at 14 and 28 days after treatment (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture at the Ren channel can enhance extracellular signal-regulated kinases1/2 expression in the inferior region of the lateral cerebral ventricle wall of rats with focal cerebral ischemia. However, this effect is not apparent until 14 days after electroacupuncture intervention. | Zhuoxin Yang Lihong Diao Haibo Yu Wenshu Luo Ling Wang Min Pi Xiaodan Rao Junhua Peng | 2008 | Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,1: | 0
Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition, approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better, depending on the central value, and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment. | 20 | Field-induced anisotropic magnetic phase transitions and tricritical phenomena in GdCr_(6)Ge_(6)显示文摘The interaction between complex magnetic structures and non-trivial band structures in ternary rare-earth GdCr_(6)Ge_(6) induces exotic and abundant electro-magnetic phenomena. In this work,we perform a systematical investigation on critical behaviors and magnetic properties of the single-crystal GdCr_(6)Ge_(6).The temperature, field, and angle dependence of magnetization unveils strong magnetic anisotropy along the c-axis and isotropic characteristic in the ab-plane.Critical exponentsβ=0.252(1),γ=0.905(9),δ=4.606(3)for H//ab,andβ=0.281(3),γ=0.991(8),δ=4.541(5)for H//c are obtained by the modified Arrott plot method(MAP)and critical isotherm(CI)analysis. The determined exponents for both directions are consistent with the theoretical prediction of a tricritical mean-field model.Based on detailed magnetization measurements and universality scaling, comprehensive magnetic phase diagrams of GdCr6Ge6for H//ab and H//c are constructed, which reveal that the external field induces a ferromagnetic(FM)transition for H//ab while a ferrimagnetic(FIM)one for H//c.Two tricritical points are determined for H//ab(11.2 K,266.3 Oe)and H//c(11.3 K,3.3 kOe)on the phase diagrams, respectively. The field-induced anisotropic magnetic configurations and multiple phases are clarified, where the moments of Gd and Cr form FM coupling for H//ab while FIM one for H//c via the interaction between Gd and Cr sublattices. | Zan Du Azizur Rahman Jiangpeng Song Jun Zhao Wei Liu Jiyu Fan Chunlan Ma Min Ge Yimin Xiong Li Pi Lei Zhang Yuheng Zhang | 2023 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,9: | 0
