2Elastic Aerogels of Cellulose Nanofibers@Metal–Organic Frameworks for Thermal Insulation and Fire Retardancy显示文摘Metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)with high microporosity and relatively high thermal stability are potential thermal insulation and flame-retardant materials.However,the difficulties in processing and shaping MOFs have largely hampered their applications in these areas.This study outlines the fabrication of hybrid CNF@MOF aerogels by a stepwise assembly approach involving the coating and cross-linking of cellulose nanofibers(CNFs)with continuous nanolayers of MOFs.The cross-linking gives the aerogels high mechanical strength but superelasticity(80%maximum recoverable strain,high specific compression modulus of^200 MPa cm3 g−1,and specific stress of^100 MPa cm3 g−1).The resultant lightweight aerogels have a cellular network structure and hierarchical porosity,which render the aerogels with relatively low thermal conductivity of^40 mW m−1 K−1.The hydrophobic,thermally stable MOF nanolayers wrapped around the CNFs result in good moisture resistance and fire retardancy.This study demonstrates that MOFs can be used as efficient thermal insulation and flame-retardant materials.It presents a pathway for the design of thermally insulating,superelastic fire-retardant nanocomposites based on MOFs and nanocellulose.Shengyang Zhou Varvara Apostolopoulou‑Kalkavoura Marcus Vinicius Tavares da Costa Lennart Bergstrom Maria Stromme Chao Xu 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1:10
3Five Colletotrichum species are responsible for mango anthracnose in northeastern Brazil显示文摘Colletotrichum species are the most important and widespread form of decay affecting mango fruit worldwide.In this study,Colletotrichum species associated with fruit anthracnose isolated from mango in northeastern Brazil were subject to molecular and morphological analyses.The partial sequences of the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase gene of 143 Colletotrichum isolates was amplified,as an initial measure of genetic diversity.A subset of 47 isolates,selected to represent the range of genetic diversity and geographic origin,were further sequenced using the partial actin,β-tubulin,calmodulin,glutamine synthetase genes and rDNA-ITS region.The multilocus sequence analysis,together with a critical examination of the phenotypic characters,revealed four previously described species(Colletotrichum asianum,Colletotrichum fructicola,Colletotrichum tropicale and Colletotrichum karstii)and one new species.The new species is introduced as Colletotrichum dianesei and formally described,illustrated and compared with similar taxa.Only C.asianum and C.karstii have previously been reported from mango,while the other species represent the first report associated with the mango fruits worldwide.All species are reported for the first time associated with the mango fruits in Brazil.Nelson B.Lima Marcus Vinicius de A.Batista Marcos A.De Morais Jr Maria A.G.Barbosa Sami J.Michereff Kevin D.Hyde Marcos P.S.Câmara 2013Fungal Diversity2013,,4:7
4Comprehensive evaluation of the metabolic effects of insect meal from Tenebrio molitor L.in growing pigs by transcriptomics, metabolomics and lipidomics显示文摘Background:The hypothesis was tested that insect meal(IM)as protein source influences intermediary metabolism of growing pigs.To test this,30 male,5-week-old crossbred pigs were randomly assigned to 3 groups of 10 pigs each with similar body weights(BW)and fed isonitrogenous diets either without(CON)or with 5%IM(IM5)or 10%IM(IM10)from Tenebrio molitor L.for 4 weeks and key metabolic tissues(liver,muscle,plasma)were analyzed using omics-techniques.Results:Most performance parameters did not differ across the groups,whereas ileal digestibilities of most amino acids were 6.7 to 15.6%-units lower in IM10 than in CON(P<0.05).Transcriptomics of liver and skeletal muscle revealed a total of 166 and 198,respectively,transcripts differentially expressed between IM10 and CON(P<0.05).Plasma metabolomics revealed higher concentrations of alanine,citrulline,glutamate,proline,serine,tyrosine and valine and a lower concentration of asparagine in IM10 than in CON(P<0.05).Only one out of fourteen quantifiable amino acid metabolites,namely methionine sulfoxide(MetS),in plasma was elevated by 45%and 71%in IM5 and IM10,respectively,compared to CON(P<0.05).Plasma concentrations of both,major carnitine/acylcarnitine species and bile acids were not different across groups.Lipidomics of liver and plasma demonstrated no differences in the concentrations of triacylglycerols,cholesterol and the main phospholipids,lysophospholipids and sphingolipids between groups.The percentages of all individual phosphatidylcholine(PC)and phosphatidylethanolamine(PE)species in the liver showed no differences between groups,except those with 6 double bonds(PC 38:6,PC 40:6,PE 38:6,PE 40:6),which were markedly lower in IM10 than in CON(P<0.05).In line with this,the percentage of C22:6n-3 in hepatic total lipids was lower in IM10 than in the other groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:Comprehensive analyzes of the transcriptome,lipidome and metabolome of key metabolic tissues indicate that partial or complete replacement of a conventional protein source by IM in the diet has only a weak impact on the intermediary metabolism of growing pigs.Thus,it is concluded that IM from Tenebrio molitor L.can be used as a dietary source of protein in pigs without causing adverse effects on metabolism.Sandra Meyer Denise K.Gessner Maria S.Braune Theresa Friedhoff Erika Most Marcus Höring Gerhard Liebisch Holger Zorn Klaus Eder Robert Ringseis 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,2:4
5Scoping review on vector-borne diseases in urban areas:transmission dynamics,vectorial capacity and co-infection显示文摘Background:Transmission dynamics,vectorial capacity,and co-infections have substantial impacts on vector-borne diseases(VBDs)affecting urban and suburban populations.Reviewing key factors can provide insight into priority research areas and offer suggestions for potential interventions.Main body:Through a scoping review,we identify knowledge gaps on transmission dynamics,vectorial capacity,and co-infections regarding VBDs in urban areas.Peer-reviewed and grey literature published between 2000 and 2016 was searched.We screened abstracts and full texts to select studies.Using an extraction grid,we retrieved general data,results,lessons learned and recommendations,future research avenues,and practice implications.We classified studies by VBD and country/continent and identified relevant knowledge gaps.Of 773 articles selected for full-text screening,50 were included in the review:23 based on research in the Americas,15 in Asia,10 in Africa,and one each in Europe and Australia.The largest body of evidence concerning VBD epidemiology in urban areas concerned dengue and malaria.Other arboviruses covered included chikungunya and West Nile virus,other parasitic diseases such as leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis,and bacterial rickettsiosis and plague.Most articles retrieved in our review combined transmission dynamics and vectorial capacity;only two combined transmission dynamics and co-infection.The review identified significant knowledge gaps on the role of asymptomatic individuals,the effects of co-infection and other host factors,and the impacts of climatic,environmental,and socioeconomic factors on VBD transmission in urban areas.Limitations included the trade-off from narrowing the search strategy(missing out on classical modelling studies),a lack of studies on co-infections,most studies being only descriptive,and few offering concrete public health recommendations.More research is needed on transmission risk in homes and workplaces,given increasingly dynamic and mobile populations.The lack of studies on co-infection hampers monitoring of infections transmitted by the same vector.Conclusions:Strengthening VBD surveillance and control,particularly in asymptomatic cases and mobile populations,as well as using early warning tools to predict increasing transmission,were key strategies identified for public health policy and practice.Marcus Eder Fanny Cortes Noemia Teixeira de Siqueira Filha Giovanny Vinicius Araujo de Franca Stephanie Degroote Cynthia Braga Valery Ridde Celina Maria Turchi Martelli 2018Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1:2
6Effect of niobium alloying level on the oxidation behavior of titanium aluminides at 850°C显示文摘This work addresses the alloying of titanium aluminides used in aircraft engine applications and automobiles. The oxidation resistance behavior of two titanium aluminides of α_2 + γ(Ti_3Al + TiA l) and orthorhombic Ti_2NbAl, recognized as candidates for high-temperature applications, was investigated by exposure of the alloys for 100 h in air. Thus, oxidation resistance was expressed as the mass gain rate, whereas surface aspects were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy in conjunction with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and the type of oxidation products was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. 8Porous titanium granules in critical size defects of rabbit tibia with or without membranes显示文摘Recently,porous titanium granules(PTGs)have been indicated for the preservation of the dimensions of post-extraction sockets,as a filler in sinus lift procedures and for the treatment of peri-implant and periodontal defects,based on the osteoconductivity and dimensional stability of the titanium granules.However,there is a lack of information regarding the use of this material in larger defects and in conjunction with membranes.The objective of this study is to test the behavior of PTGs used to fill critical size defects in rabbit tibiae,with and without membranes.Critical defects were created in both tibiae of rabbits,divided randomly into three groups:Group A(defect filled with PTG),Group B(defect filled with PTG1collagen membrane)and a control group(empty defect).After six weeks,histomorphometric analysis was performed.The results showed more defect closures at the cortical area(87.37%62.2%)and more bone formation at the marrow area(57.6%61.3%)in Group B,in comparison with the other groups(P,0.05);the use of membranes improved the material stability expressed as more percentages of the original material when membranes were used(P,0.05).Finally,inflammatory reactions were observed when the granules were not protected by membranes.In spite of the limitations of this animal study,it may be concluded that PTG particles are osteoconductive and allow bone growth.The PTG particles must be covered by a membrane,especially when grafting larger defects,in order to control particle migration,promote clot stabilization and separate the PTG graft from undesired soft tissue cells.Rafael Arcesio Delgado-Ruiz Jose Luis Calvo-Guirado Marcus Abboud Maria Piedad Ramirez-Ferna'ndez Jose Eduardo Maté-Snchez Bruno Negri Alex Won Georgios Romanos 2014International Journal of Oral Science2014,6,2:1
