142,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. 3USP19 suppresses inflammation and promotes M2-like macrophage polarization by manipulating NLRP3 function via autophagy显示文摘Macrophage polarization to proinflammatory M1-like or anti-inflammatory M2-like cells is critical to mount a host defense or repair tissue.The exact molecular mechanisms controlling this process are still elusive.Here,we report that ubiquitin-specific protease 19(USP19)acts as an anti-inflammatory switch that inhibits inflammatory responses and promotes M2-like macrophage polarization.USP19 inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome activation by increasing autophagy flux and decreasing the generation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species.In addition,USP19 inhibited the proteasomal degradation of inflammasome-independent NLRP3 by cleaving its polyubiquitin chains.USP19-stabilized NLRP3 promoted M2-like macrophage polarization by direct association with interferon regulatory factor 4,thereby preventing its p62-mediated selective autophagic degradation.Consistent with these observations,compared to wild-type mice,Usp19−/−mice had decreased M2-like macrophage polarization and increased interleukin-1βsecretion,in response to alum and chitin injections.Thus,we have uncovered an unexpected mechanism by which USP19 switches the proinflammatory function of NLRP3 into an anti-inflammatory function,and suggest that USP19 is a potential therapeutic target for inflammatory interventions.Tao Liu Liqiu Wang Puping Liang Xiaojuan Wang Yukun Liu Jing Cai Yuanchu She Dan Wang Zhi Wang Zhiyong Guo Samuel Bates Xiaojun Xia Junjiu Huang Jun Cui 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,10:15
4Geologic characteristics of the Chang'E-3 exploration region显示文摘We present topographic,geomorphologic and compositional characteristics of a 1°×1°(~660 km2)region centered near the landing site of Chang’E-3 using the highest spatial resolution data available.We analyze the topography and slope using Digital Terrain Model(DTM)generated from Terrain Camera(TC)images.The exploration region is overall relatively flat and the elevation difference is less than 300 m,and the slopes of 80%area are less than 5°.Impact craters in the exploration region are classified into four types based on their degradation states.We investigate the wrinkle ridges visible in the exploration region in detail using TC and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter(LRO)Narrow Angle Camera(NAC)images.We calculate FeO and TiO2 abundances using Multispectral Imager(MI)data,and confirm two basaltic units:the northern part belongs to Imbrian low-Ti/very-low-Ti mare basalts,and the southern part is Eratosthenian low-Ti/high-Ti mare basalts.Finally,we produce a geological map and propose the geologic evolution of the exploration region.We also suggest several rover traverses to explore interesting targets and maximize the potential scientific output.ZHAO JianNan HUANG Jun QIAO Le XIAO ZhiYong HUANG Qian WANG Jiang HE Qi XIAO Long 2014Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,3:14
5Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. 6Spinal Cord Stimulation for Pain Treatment After Spinal Cord Injury显示文摘In addition to restoration of bladder, bowel, and motor functions, alleviating the accompanying debilitating pain is equally important for improving the quality of life of patients with spinal cord injury(SCI). Currently,however, the treatment of chronic pain after SCI remains a largely unmet need. Electrical spinal cord stimulation(SCS) has been used to manage a variety of chronic pain conditions that are refractory to pharmacotherapy. Yet, its efficacy, benefit profiles, and mechanisms of action in SCI pain remain elusive, due to limited research, methodological weaknesses in previous clinical studies, and a lack of mechanistic exploration of SCS for SCI pain control. We aim to review recent studies and outline the therapeutic potential of different SCS paradigms for traumatic SCI pain. We begin with an overview of its manifestations,classification, potential underlying etiology, and currentchallenges for its treatment. The clinical evidence for using SCS in SCI pain is then reviewed. 7Different aspects of cognitive function in adult patients with moyamoya disease and its clinical subtypes显示文摘Objective Although a few reports suggested that cognitive function impairment could be found in adult patients with moyamoya disease(MMD),there were still many aspects that are unclear.The aim of our study was to assess the cognitive function of adult patients with MMD and its clinical subtypes.Methods 49 patients with MMD and 23 healthy controls were asked to take cognitive function tests.Cognitive function tests included IQ,prospective memory(PM),immediate memory(IM),verbal fluency(VF),visual breadth,attention,retrospective memory(RM),Stroop test,Wisconsin Card Sorting Test,Trail-Making Test Part A(TMT-A)and Continuous Performance Test(CPT).Independent t-analysis,one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation were used to seek for differences between subgroups and the correlation between cognitive variables.results Compared with healthy controls,adult patients with MMD had a comprehensive cognitive impairment,including IQ,PM,VF,attention,RM,Stroop,CPT and TMT-A,with more serious impairment in PM and attention.PM and RM were separated,indicating that they were independent of each other.Pattern of attention was significantly different from healthy controls.Female patients were better than male patients,where significant differences in PM,IM,Stroop and WCST could be found.The haemorrhagic patients exhibited poorer in the dimension of PM and RM than the ischaemic.The headache subtype exhibited poorer than healthy controls.PM,RM,attention and executive function were moderately correlated with each other.Conclusions Adult patients with MMD had a wide range of cognitive impairment with more serious impairment in memory and attention.Differences in cognitive function existed between the different subtypes of adult MMD.Zhiyong Shi Yu-Jie Wen Zheng Huang Le-Bao Yu Dong Zhang 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,1:12
8Efficient random saliency map detection显示文摘Most image retargeting algorithms rely heavily on valid saliency map detection to proceed. However, the inefficiency of high quality saliency map detection severely restricts the application of these image retargeting methods. In this paper, we propose a random algorithm for efficient context-aware saliency map detection. Our method is a multiple level saliency map detection algorithm that integrates multiple level coarse saliency maps into the resulting saliency map and selectively updates unreliable regions of the saliency map to refine detection results. Because of the randomized search, our method requires very little additional memory beyond that for the input image and result map, and does not need to build auxiliary data structures to accelerate the saliency map detection. 10BubR1 phosphorylates CENP-E as a switch enabling the transition from lateral association to end-on capture of spindle microtubules显示文摘Error-free mitosis depends on accurate chromosome attachment to spindle microtubules, powered congression of those chromosomes, their segregation in anaphase, and assembly of a spindle midzone at mitotic exit. The centromere-associated kinesin motor CENP-E, whose binding partner is BubR1, has been implicated in congression of misaligned chromosomes and the transition from lateral kinetochore-microtubule association to end-on capture. Although previously proposed to be a pseudokinase, here we report the structure of the kinase domain of Drosophila melanogaster BubR1, revealing its folding into a conformation predicted to be catalytically active. BubR1 is shown to be a bona fide kinase whose phosphorylation of CENP-E switches it from a laterally attached microtubule motor to a plus-end microtubule tip tracker. Computational modeling is used to identify bubristatin as a selective BubR1 kinase antagonist that targets the αN1 helix of N-terminal extension and αC helix of the BubR1 kinase domain. Inhibition of CENP-E phosphorylation is shown to prevent proper microtubule capture at kinetochores and, surprisingly, proper assembly of the central spindle at mitotic exit. 16Influence of Preparation Technology on the Structure and Phase Composition of MoSi_2-Mo_5Si_3 /SiC Multi-coating for Carbon/Carbon Composites显示文摘Oxidation protective MoSi 2 -Mo 5 Si 3 /SiC multi-coatings for carbon/carbon composites were prepared by chemical vapor reaction and slurry-sintering method. The influence of preparation technology on the structure and phase composition of the coating was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses, and then their relationship was discussed. The results indicate that the Si/Mo ratio of the slurry and sintering processing were two main factors that significantly affected the structure and phase composition of the multi-coating. Appropriate sintering process and relatively high Si/Mo ratio were essential for preparing the multi-coating with dense structure and favorable phase composition. After being sintered at 1723 K for 2 h and with the Si/Mo ratio of the slurry being 4.5 (weight ratio), a dense structure accompanied by favorable phase composition of the coating can be obtained. When heat treated at 2373 K for 1 h, this coating became more compact and continuous. 17Defect in Brnym1,a magnesium-dechelatase protein,causes a stay-green phenotype in an EMSmutagenized Chinese cabbage(Brassica campestris L.ssp.pekinensis)line显示文摘Leaf color is an important target trait in Chinese cabbage breeding programs.Leaf yellowing may reduce crop commercial and nutritional values.Some plants with the“stay-green”trait maintain leaf greenness during senescence and even after death.Stay-green Chinese cabbage may be a focal point of future breeding projects because it could improve crop quality and yield and prolong shelf life.A new stay-green mutant,non-yellowing mutant 1(nym1),was identified in Chinese cabbage derived from an ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS)-mutagenized population.The mutant had stay-green characteristics and a higher chlorophyll content than the wild-type during leaf senescence.The staygreen trait in the mutant Chinese cabbage was controlled by the recessive gene Brnym1.MutMap and KASP analyses showed that Brnym1(BraA03g050600.3C)encodes an mg-dechelatase(SGR protein),which might be the causal gene of the mutation in Chinese cabbage.A nonsynonymous single nucleotide base substitution(G to A)in the third exon of Brnym1 caused an amino acid substitution from L to F in the highly conserved domain of the magnesiumdechelatase.Ectopic overexpression showed that the BrNYM1 gene of wild-type Chinese cabbage complemented the SGR-defective stay-green mutant nye1-1 of Arabidopsis.The magnesium-dechelatase activity in the nym1 mutant was significantly downregulated compared to that in the wild type.Brnym1 was relatively upregulated in the mutant during late senescence,and BrNYM1 was localized to the chloroplasts.These results indicate that Brnym1(BraA03g050600.3C)is the causal gene of the stay-green mutation and could be of particular significance in the genetic improvement of Chinese cabbage.Nan Wang Yun Zhang Shengnan Huang Zhiyong Liu Chengyu Li Hui Feng 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:5

19Effects of forest cover types and environmental factors on soil respiration dynamics in a coastal sand dune of subtropical China显示文摘Trees on sand dunes are more sensitive to environmental changes because sandy soils have extremely low water holding capacity and nutrient availability. We investigated the dynamics of soil respiration(Rs) for secondary natural Litsea forest and plantations of casuarina,pine, acacia and eucalyptus. Results show that significant diurnal variations of Rsoccurred in autumn for the eucalyptus species and in summer for the pine species, with higher mean soil respiration at night. However, significant seasonal variations of Rswere found in all five forest stands. Rschanged exponentially with soil temperatures at the 10-cm depth; the models explain 43.3–77.0% of Rs variations. Positive relationships between seasonal Rsand soil moisture varied with stands. The correlations were significant only in the secondary forest, and the eucalyptus and pine plantations. The temperature sensitivity parameter(Q10 value) of Rsranged from 1.64 in casuarina plantation to 2.32 the in secondary forest; annual Rswas highest in the secondary forest and lowest in the pine plantation. The results indicate that soil temperatures and moisture are the primary environmental controls of soil respiration and mainly act through a direct influence on roots and microbial activity.
