1Improving Multimodel Weather Forecast of Monsoon Rain Over China Using FSU Superensemble显示文摘In this paper we present the current capabilities for numerical weather prediction of precipitation over China using a suite of ten multimodels and our superensemble based forecasts. Our suite of models includes the operational suite selected by NCARs TIGGE archives for the THORPEX Program. These are: ECMWF, UKMO, JMA, NCEP, CMA, CMC, BOM, MF, KMA and the CPTEC models. The superensemble strategy includes a training and a forecasts phase, for these the periods chosen for this study include the months February through September for the years 2007 and 2008. This paper addresses precipitation forecasts for the medium range i.e. Days 1 to 3 and extending out to Day 10 of forecasts using this suite of global models. For training and forecasts validations we have made use of an advanced TRMM satellite based rainfall product. We make use of standard metrics for forecast validations that include the RMS errors, spatial correlations and the equitable threat scores. The results of skill forecasts of precipitation clearly demonstrate that it is possible to obtain higher skills for precipitation forecasts for Days 1 through 3 of forecasts from the use of the multimodel superensemble as compared to the best model of this suite. Between Days 4 to 10 it is possible to have very high skills from the multimodel superensemble for the RMS error of precipitation. Those skills are shown for a global belt and especially over China. Phenomenologically this product was also found very useful for precipitation forecasts for the Onset of the South China Sea monsoon, the life cycle of the mei-yu rains and post typhoon landfall heavy rains and flood events. 2Hierarchical activation of compartmentalized pools of AMPK depends on severity of nutrient or energy stress显示文摘AMPK, a master regulator of metabolic homeostasis, is activated by both AMP-dependent and AMP-independent mechanisms. The conditions under which these different mechanisms operate, and their biological implications are unclear. Here, we show that, depending on the degree of elevation of cellular AMP, distinct compartmentalized pools of AMPK are activated, phosphorylating different sets of targets. Low glucose activates AMPK exclusively through the AMP-independent, AXIN-based pathway in lysosomes to phosphorylate targets such as ACC1 and SREBP1c, exerting early anti-anabolic and pro-catabolic roles. Moderate increases in AMP expand this to activate cytosolic AMPK also in an AXIN-dependent manner. In contrast, high concentrations of AMP, arising from severe nutrient stress, activate all pools of AMPK independently of AXIN. Surprisingly, mitochondrion-localized AMPK is activated to phosphorylate ACC2 and mitochondrial fission factor (MFF) only during severe nutrient stress. 6Comparison of Leptosphaeria biglobosa-induced and chemically induced systemic resistance to L.maculans in Brassica napus显示文摘Brassica napus(cv.Madrigal)seedlings pre-treated with ascospores of Leptosphaeria biglobosa or foliar sprays of either acibenzolar-S-methyl(ASM)or menadione sodium bisulphite(MSB)were chal- lenge inoculated with L.maculans ascospores and assessed for phoma leaf spot development and tissue morphology and gene expression responses to infection.Rates of increase in phoma leaf spot area 8―21 d after challenge inoculation were significantly greater on water pre-treated plants than on plants pre-treated with L.biglobosa,ASM or MSB on both pre-treated leaves(local effect)and younger leaves without pre-treatment(systemic effect).Ninety-six h after challenge inoculation,the invasive hyphae of L.maculans were encircled by rings of necrotic mesophyll cells on leaves pre-treated with L. biglobosa,ASM or MSB but not those pre-treated with water.Quantification of transcript levels of genes commonly used as markers of the major defence signalling pathways(PDF1.2,PR-1,NPR1,APX, CHB4)0–96 h after L.maculans challenge inoculation showed expression patterns indicating prefer- ential activation of the jasmonate/ethylene pathway and involved induction of NPR1 locally and sys- temically in leaves of plants pre-treated with L.biglobosa ascospores.LIU ShengYi LIU RenHu Akinwunmi O.
