Perfusion computed tomography in renal cell carcinoma显示文摘Various imaging modalities are available for the diagnosis, staging and response evaluation of patients with renal cell carcinoma(RCC). While contrast enhanced computed tomography(CT) is used as the standard of imaging for size, morphological evaluation and response assessment in RCC, a new functional imaging technique like perfusion CT(p CT), goes down to the molecular level and provides new perspectives in imaging of RCC. p CT depicts regional tumor perfusion and vascular permeability which are indirect parameters of tumor angiogenesis and thereby provides vital information regarding tumor microenvironment. Also response evaluation using p CT may predate the size criteria used in Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors, as changes in the perfusion occurs earlier following tissue kinase inhibitors before any actual change in size. This may potentially help in predicting prognosis, better selection of therapy and more accurate and better response evaluation in patients with RCC. This article describes the techniques and role of p CT in staging and response assessment in patients with RCCs.Chandan J Das Usha Thingujam Ananya Panda Sanjay Sharma Arun Kumar Gupta 2015World Journal of Radiology2015,7,7:8

Draft genome sequence of a less-known wild Vigna: Beach pea(V. marina cv. ANBp-14-03)显示文摘Beach pea or beach cowpea(Vigna marina(Burm.)Merr.)belongs to the family Fabaceae. It is a close relative of cultivated Vigna species such as adzuki bean(V.angularis),cowpea(V.unguiculata),mung bean(V.radiata),and blackgram(V.mungo),and is distributed throughout the tropics. With its ability to tolerate salt stress, beach pea has great potential to contribute salt-tolerance genes for developing salt-tolerant cultivars in cultivated Vigna species. However,it is still underutilized in Vigna breeding programs.A draft genome sequence of beach pea was generated using a high-throughput next-generation sequencing platform, yielding 23.7 Gb of sequence from 79,929,868 filtered reads.A de novo genome assembly containing 68,731 scaffolds gave an N50 length of 10,272 bp and the assembled sequences totaled 365.6 Mb.A total of 35,448 SSRs,including 3574 compound SSRs,were identified and primer pairs for most of these SSRs were designed.Genome analysis identified 50,670 genes with mean coding sequence length 1042 bp.Phylogenetic analysis revealed highest sequence similarity with V.angularis, followed by V.radiata.Comparison with the V.angularis genome revealed 16,699 SNPs and 2253 InDels and comparison with the V.radiata genome revealed 17,538 SNPs and 2300 InDels. To our knowledge this is the first draft genome sequence of beach pea derived from an accession(ANBp-14-03)adapted locally in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India. The draft genome sequence may facilitate the genetic enhancement in cultivated Vigna species.Awnindra Kumar Singh A.Velmurugan Debjyoti Sen Gupta Jitendra Kumar Ravi Kesari Aravind Konda Narendra Pratap Singh Sibnarayan Dam Roy Utpal Biswas R.Rahul Kumar Sanjay Singh 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,5:2
Triple tube drainage for “difficult” gastroduodenal perforations:A prospective study显示文摘AIM To prospectively study the outcome of difficult gastroduodenal perforations(GDPs) treated by triple tube drainage(TTD) in order to standardize the procedure.METHODS Patients presenting to a single surgical unit of a tertiary hospital with difficult GDPs(large, unfavourable local and systemic factors) were treated with TTD(gastrostomy, duodenostomy and feeding jejunostomy). Postoperative parameters were observed like time to return of bowel sounds, time to start enteral feeds, time to start oral feeds, daily output of all drains, time to clamping/removal of all drains, time for skin to heal, complications, hospital stay, and, mortality. Descriptive statistics were used. RESULTS Between December 2013 and April 2015, 20 patients undergoing TTD for GDP were included, with mean age of 44.6 ± 19.8 years and male:female ratio of 17:3. Mean pre-operative APACHE Ⅱ scores were 10.85 ± 3.55; most GDPs were prepyloric(9/20; 45%) or proximal duodenal(8/20; 40%) and mean size was 1.83 ± 0.59 cm(largest 2.5 cm). Median times of resumption of enteral feeding, removal of gastrostomy, removal of duodenostomy, removal of feeding jejunostomy and oral feeding were 4 d(4-5 IQR), 13(12-16.5 IQR), 16(16.25-22.25 IQR), 18(16.5-24 IQR) and 12 d(10.75-18.5 IQR) respectively. Median hospital stay was 22 d(19-26 IQR) while mortality was 4/20(20%). CONCLUSION TTD for difficult GDP is feasible, easy in the emergency, and patients recover in two-three weeks. It obviates the need for technically demanding and riskier procedures.Nitin Agarwal Nishant Kumar Malviya Nikhil Gupta Iqbal Singh Sanjay Gupta 2017World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2017,9,1:1

Optimization of substrate ratio for beer production from finger millet and barley显示文摘Seventeen designed experiments were conducted in three steps(malting, brewing and fermentation)to produce beer from barley, finger millet and the combination of both.Effects of independent variables with three levels for each i.e.blend ratios of grains(100:0,50:50,0:100),kilning temperature(50℃,70℃,90℃)and malted grain to water ratios(1:3,1:5,1:7)were investigated on product quality. The results of the study indicated that all the independent parameters i.e.blend ratio, kilning temperature and slurry ratio affected the responses(pH,colour, bitterness and alcohol content)significantly.Optimum values of parameters, from the simultaneous optimization done using Design Expert 8.0.6.1 software, for beer production, were found to be 68:32 blend ratio,50℃ kilning temperature and 1:7 slurry ratio. The model F-value was found to be highly significant at 1% level of significance for all the responses. All the responses could be predicted by fitting the second order mathematical model and adequacy checked by R^(2).Sanjay Kumar Anupama Singh Navin Chandra Shahi Khan Chand Kopal Gupta 2015International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,2:0
Structural, optical and antimicrobial properties of pure and Agdoped ZnO nanostructures显示文摘In the present work, zinc oxide(ZnO)and silver(Ag)doped ZnO nanostructures are synthesized using a hydrothermal method.Structural quality of the products is attested using X-ray diffraction, which confirms the hexagonal wurtzite struc-ture of pure ZnO and Ag-doped ZnO nanostructures.XRD further confirms the crystallite orientation along the c-axis,(101)plane.The field emission scanning electron microscope study reveals the change in shape of the synthesized ZnO particles from hexagonal nanoparticles to needle-shaped nanostructures for 3 wt%Ag-doped ZnO.The optical band gaps and lattice strain of nanostructures is increased significantly with the increase of doping concentration of Ag in ZnO nanostructure. The anti-microbial activity of synthesized nanostructures has been evaluated against the gram-positive human pathogenic bacteria,Staphylococcus aureus via an agarose gel diffusion test. The maximum value of zone of inhibition(22 mm)is achieved for 3 wt%Ag-doped ZnO nanostructure and it clearly demonstrates the remarkable antibacterial activity.Sagar Vikal Yogendra K.Gautam Anit K.Ambedkar Durvesh Gautam Jyoti Singh Dharmendra Pratap Ashwani Kumar Sanjay Kumar Meenal Gupta Beer Pal Singh 2022Journal of Semiconductors2022,43,3:0
Comparing accuracy of cochlear measurements on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography:A step towards radiation-free cochlear implantation显示文摘Objective:Computed Tomography(CT)and Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)are commonly employed in pre-operative evaluation for cochlear implant surgery. However, with a decrease in the age of implantation, even minor radiation exposure can cause detrimental effects on children over their lifetime. The current study compares different cochlear measurements from CT and MRI scans and evaluates the feasibility of using only an MRI scan for radiological evaluation before cochlear implantation. Methods:A longitudinal observational study was conducted on 94 ears/47 children, employing CT and MRI scans. The CT and MRI scan measurements include,A value,B value,Cochlear duct length(CDL),twoturn cochlear length, alpha and beta angles to look for cochlear orientation.Cochlear nerve diameter was measured using MRI.The values were compared. Results:The mean difference between measurements from CT and MRI scans for A value,B value,CDL,and two-turn cochlear length values was 0.567±0.413 mm,0.406±0.368 mm,2.365±1.675 mm,and 2.063±1.477 mm respectively without any significant difference. The alpha and beta angle measures were comparable, with no statistically significant difference. Conclusion:The study suggests that MRI scans can be the only radiological investigation needed with no radiation risk and reduces the cost of cochlear implant program in the paediatric population. There is no significant difference between the measurements obtained from CT and MRI scans. However, observed discrepancies in cochlear measurements across different populations require regionally or race-specific standardized values to ensure accurate diagnosis and precision in cochlear implant surgery. This aspect must be addressed to ensure positive outcomes for patients.Anurita Swarup Vinusree Karakkandy Preetam Chappity Suprava Naik Sanjay Kumar Behera Pradipta Kumar Parida Mohnish Grover Gaurav Gupta Prajna Paramita Giri Saurav Sarkar Pradeep Pradhan Dillip Kumar Samal Aswathi Kallyadan Veetil Asutosh Adhikari Saurav Nayak 2023Journal of Otology2023,18,4:0
Genome-Wide Comparative in silico Analysis of Calcium Transporters of Rice and Sorghum显示文摘The mechanism of calcium uptake, translocation and accumulation in Poaceae has not yet been fully understood. To address this issue, we conducted genome-wide comparative in silico analysis of the calcium (Ca2+) transporter gene family of two crop species, rice and sorghum. Gene annotation, identification of upstream cis-acting ele- ments, phylogenetic tree construction and syntenic mapping of the gene family were performed using several bio- informatics tools. A total of 31 Ca2+ transporters, distributed on 9 out of 12 chromosomes, were predicted from rice genome, while 28 Ca2+ transporters predicted from sorghum are distributed on all the chromosomes except chromosome 10 (Chr 10). Interestingly, most of the genes on Chr 1 and Chr 3 show an inverse syntenic relation- ship between rice and sorghum. Multiple sequence alignment and motif analysis of these transporter proteins re- vealed high conservation between the two species. Phylogenetic tree could very well identify the subclasses of channels, ATPases and exchangers among the gene family. The in silico cis-regulatory element analysis suggested diverse functions associated with light, stress and hormone responsiveness as well as endosperm- and meris- tem-specific gene expression. Further experiments are warranted to validate the in silico analysis of the predicted transporter gene family and elucidate the functions of Ca2+ transporters in various biological processes.Anshita Goel Gohar Taj Dinesh Pandey Sanjay Gupta Anil Kumar 2011Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2011,9,4:0
A multiplicative Gauss-Newton minimization algorithm:Theory and application to exponential functions显示文摘Multiplicative calculus(MUC)measures the rate of change of function in terms of ratios, which makes the exponential functions significantly linear in the framework of MUC.Therefore,a generally non-linear optimization problem containing exponential functions becomes a linear problem in MUC.Taking this as motivation, this paper lays mathematical foundation of well-known classical Gauss-Newton minimization(CGNM)algorithm in the framework of MUC.This paper formulates the mathematical derivation of proposed method named as multiplicative Gauss-Newton minimization(MGNM)method along with its convergence properties. The proposed method is generalized for n number of variables, and all its theoretical concepts are authenticated by simulation results. Two case studies have been conducted incorporating multiplicatively-linear and non-linear exponential functions. From simulation results,it has been observed that proposed MGNM method converges for 12972 points, out of 19600 points considered while optimizing multiplicatively-linear exponential function, whereas CGNM and multiplicative Newton minimization methods converge for only 2111 and 9922 points, respectively.Furthermore, for a given set of initial value, the proposed MGNM converges only after 2 iterations as compared to 5 iterations taken by other methods.A similar pattern is observed for multiplicatively-non-linear exponential function. Therefore,it can be said that proposed method converges faster and for large range of initial values as compared to conventional methods.Anmol Gupta Sanjay Kumar 2021Applied Mathematics(A Journal of Chinese Universities)2021,36,3:0
Dietary phytochemicals and their role in cancer chemoprevention显示文摘Epidemiological studies suggest a close association between diet and cancer initiation, which provides evidence that the dietary components may be effectively developed as chemopreventive agents[1].These pieces of evidence are further supported by several case-control and cohort studies, which overwhelmingly support a converse association between the intake of phytochemicals and cancer risk[2,3].A number of clinical studies have been conducted demonstrating that dietary phytochemicals have the ability to inhibit tumorigenesis[4].Components presenting in fruit and vegetables termed“bioactive”phytochemicals belong to several classes of micronutrients, including flavonoids, polyphenols, and dietary fiber. These components have the ability to reduce the cancer risk alone or by interactions between them.Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta 2021Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2021,7,1:0
Resistance to second generation antiandrogens in prostate cancer: pathways and mechanisms显示文摘Androgen deprivation therapy targeting the androgens/androgen receptor(AR)signaling continues to be the mainstay treatment of advanced-stage prostate cancer. The use of second-generation antiandrogens, such as abiraterone acetate and enzalutamide, has improved the survival of prostate cancer patients;however,a majority of these patients progress to castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).The mechanisms of resistance to antiandrogen treatments are complex, including specific mutations, alternative splicing, and amplification of oncogenic proteins resulting in dysregulation of various signaling pathways. In this review,we focus on the major mechanisms of acquired resistance to second generation antiandrogens, including AR-dependent and AR-independent resistance mechanisms as well as other resistance mechanisms leading to CRPC emergence.Evolving knowledge of resistance mechanisms to AR targeted treatments will lead to additional research on designing more effective therapies for advanced-stage prostate cancer.Shiv Verma Kumari Sunita Prajapati Prem Prakash Kushwaha Mohd Shuaib Atul Kumar Singh Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta 2020Cancer Drug Resistance2020,3,4:0
Role of prostate cancer stem-like cells in the development of antiandrogen resistance显示文摘Androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)is the standard of care treatment for advance stage prostate cancer.Treatment with ADT develops resistance in multiple ways leading to the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).Present research establishes that prostate cancer stem-like cells(CSCs)play a central role in the development of treatment resistance followed by disease progression.Prostate CSCs are capable of self-renewal,differentiation,and regenerating tumor heterogeneity. The stemness properties in prostate CSCs arise due to various factors such as androgen receptor mutation and variants, epigenetic and genetic modifications leading to alteration in the tumor microenvironment, changes in ATP-binding cassette(ABC)transporters, and adaptations in molecular signaling pathways.ADT reprograms prostate tumor cellular machinery leading to the expression of various stem cell markers such as Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1 Family Member A1(ALDH1A1),Prominin 1(PROM1/CD133),Indian blood group(CD44),SRY-Box Transcription Factor 2(Sox2),POU Class 5 Homeobox 1(POU5F1/Oct4),Nanog and ABC transporters. These markers indicate enhanced self-renewal and stemness stimulating CRPC evolution, metastatic colonization, and resistance to antiandrogens. In this review,we discuss the role of ADT in prostate CSCs differentiation and acquisition of CRPC,their isolation, identification and characterization,as well as the factors and pathways contributing to CSCs expansion and therapeutic opportunities.Prem Prakash Kushwaha Shiv Verma Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta 2022Cancer Drug Resistance2022,5,2:0
