1Huanglongbing:An overview of a complex pathosystem ravaging the world's citrus显示文摘Citrus huanglongbing(HLB) has become a major disease and limiting factor of production in citrus areas that have become infected. The destruction to the affected citrus industries has resulted in a tremendous increase to support research that in return has resulted in significant information on both applied and basic knowledge concerning this important disease to the global citrus industry. Recent research indicates the relationship between citrus and the causal agent of HLB is shaped by multiple elements, in which host defense responses may also play an important role. This review is intended to provide an overview of the importance of HLB to a wider audience of plant biologists. 3Stem cells:An eventual treatment option for heart diseases显示文摘Stem cells are of global excitement for various diseases including heart diseases. It is worth to understand the mechanism or role of stem cells in the treatment of heart failure. Bone marrow derived stem cells are commonly practiced with an aim to improve the function of the heart. The majority of studies have been conducted with acute myocardial infarction and a few has been investigated with the use of stem cells for treating chronic or dilated cardiomyopathy. Heterogeneity in the treated group using stem cells has greatly emerged. Ever increasing demand for any alternative made is of at most priority for cardiomyopathy. Stem cells are of top priority with the current impact that has generated among physicians. However,meticulous selection of proper source is required since redundancy is clearly evident with the present survey. 4CFD simulation of single-phase flow in flotation cells:Effect of impeller blade shape,clearance,and Reynolds number显示文摘A series of numerical simulations of turbulent single-phase flows are performed to understand the flow and mixing characteristics in a laboratory scale flotation tank.Four impeller blade shapes covering a wide range of surface areas and lip lengths are considered to highlight and contrast the flow behavior predicted in the impeller stream.The mean flow close to the impeller is fully characterized by considering velocity components along the axial direction at different radial locations.Normalized results suggest the development of a comparatively stronger axial velocity component for a blade design with the smallest lip length,called big-tip impeller here.Normalized turbulent kinetic energy profiles close to the impeller reveal the existence of an asymmetric trailing vortex pair.The highest turbulence kinetic energy dissipation rates are observed close to the impeller blades and stator walls where the radial jet strikes the stator walls periodically.Furthermore,liquid phase mixing in the flotation cell is studied using transient scalar tracing simulations providing mixing time data.Finally,pumping capacity and efficiency of different impeller designs are calculated based on which the impeller blade design with a rectangular blade design is found to perform most efficiently.Manjunath Basavarajappa Sanja Miskovic 2019International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,5:5
5Soil and water conservation measures improve soil carbon sequestration and soil quality under cashews显示文摘Land degradation is becoming a serious problem in the west coast region of India where one of the world's eight biodiversity hotspots,the‘Western Ghats’,is present.Poor land management practices and high rainfall have led to increasing problems associated with land degradation.A long-term(13-year)experiment was done to evaluate the impact of soil and water conservation measures on soil carbon sequestration and soil quality at three different depths under cashew nut cultivation on a 19%slope.Five soil and water conservation measures-continuous contour trenches,staggered contour trenches,halfmoon terraces,semi-elliptical trenches,and graded trenches all with vegetative barriers of Stylosanthes scabra and Vetiveria zizanoides and control were evaluated for their influence on soil properties,carbon sequestration,and soil quality under cashews.The soil and water conservation measures improved significantly the soil organic carbon,soil organic carbon stock,carbon sequestration rate and microbial activity compared to the control condition(without any measures).Among the measures tested,continuous contour trenches with vegetative barriers outperformed the others with respect to soil organic carbon stock,sequestration rate,and microbial activity.The lower metabolic quotient with the measures compared to the control indicated alleviation of environmental stress on microbes.Using principal component analysis and a correlation matrix,a minimum dataset was identified as the soil available nitrogen,bulk density,basal soil respiration,soil pH,acid phosphatase activity,and soil available boron and these were the most important soil properties controlling the soil quality.Four soil quality indices using two summation methods(additive and weighted)and two scoring methods(linear and non-linear)were developed using the minimum dataset.A linear weighted soil quality index was able to statistically differentiate the effect of soil and water conservation measures from that of the control.The highest value of the soil quality index of 0.98 was achieved with continuous contour trenches with a vegetative barrier.The results of the study indicate that soil and water conservation measures for cashews are a potential strategy to improve the soil carbon sequestration and soil quality along with improving crop productivity and reducing the erosion losses.Gopal Ramdas Mahajan Bappa Das Sandrasekaran Manivannan Begur Lakshminarasimha Manjunath Ram Ratan Verma Sujeet Desai Rahul Mukund Kulkarni Ashish Marotrao Latare Reshma Sale Dayesh Murgaonkar Kiran Puna Patel Shaiesh Morajkar Ashwini Desai Natasha Barnes Heena Mulla 2021International Journal of Sediment Research2021,36,2:4
6Synthesis and measurement of structural and magnetic properties of K-doped LaCoO_3 perovskite materials显示文摘Polycrystalline La1-xKxCoO3(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) rare earth cobaltates have been synthesized by a solution combustion method using glycine as a fuel.The synthesized ceramic materials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and magnetic measurements and studied for physical properties,such as photocatalytic activity.FTIR measurements in conjunction with XRD showed that phases beyond 10% K doping are accompanied by small amounts of impurities.Chemical titrations show the presence of Co4+ and account for the Co3+-Co4+ mixed-valency of the system.The parent LaCoO3 shows spin-glass transition at low temperatures,whereas doped samples show transition from spin-glass behavior to paramagnetic ordering on progressive doping of K. 7Multi-spectroscopic investigation of the binding interaction of fosfomycin with bovine serum albumin显示文摘The interaction between fosfomycin(FOS) and bovine serum albumin(BSA) has been investigated effectively by multi-spectroscopic techniques under physiological p H 7.4. FOS quenched the intrinsic fl uorescence of BSA via static quenching. The number of binding sites n and observed binding constant K A were measured by the fl uorescence quenching method. The thermodynamic parameters ΔG0, ΔH0andΔS0were calculated at different temperatures according to the van't Hoff equation. The site of binding of FOS in the protein was proposed to be Sudlow's site I based on displacement experiments using site markers viz. warfarin, ibuprofen and digitoxin. The distance r between the donor(BSA) and acceptor(FOS) molecules was obtained according to the F?rster theory. The effect of FOS on the conformation of BSA was analyzed using synchronous fl uorescence spectra(SFS), circular dichroism(CD) and 3D fl uorescence spectra. 9Methanolic extract of Momordica cymbalaria enhances glucose uptake in L6 myotubes in vitro by up-regulating PPAR-γ and GLUT-4显示文摘The present study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of the methanolic fruit extract of Momordica cymbalaria(MFMC) on PPARγ(Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor gamma) and GLUT-4(Glucose transporter-4) with respect to glucose transport. Various concentrations of MFMC ranging from 62.5 to 500 μg·mL-1 were evaluated for glucose uptake activity in vitro using L6 myotubes, rosiglitazone was used as a reference standard. The MFMC showed significant and dose-dependent increase in glucose uptake at the tested concentrations, further, the glucose uptake activity of MFMC(500 μg·mL-1) was comparable with rosigilitazone. Furthermore, MFMC has shown up-regulation of GLUT-4 and PPARγ gene expressions in L6 myotubes. In addition, the MFMC when incubated along with cycloheximide(CHX), which is a protein synthesis inhibitor, has shown complete blockade of glucose uptake. This indicates that new protein synthesis is required for increased GLUT-4 translocation. 11利用神经网络模型预测球团矿的冷压强度(英文)显示文摘建立了一个神经网络模型来预测球团矿的冷压强度,该网络模型采用三层前向BP神经网络,网络结构为12-12-1,12个输入变量分别为给料率、料层高度、焙烧温度、干透点温度、COREX煤气单耗、膨润土的添加量、生球水分、生球碳含量以及成品球的FeO、MgO、Al2O3含量和碱度;隐层含有12个神经元;输出为成品球团冷压强度;神经元激活函数选择双曲正切函数;神经网络学习算法使用的是带惯量项的误差反向传播学习算法(BP学习算法)。选取353组数据来训练和测试神经网络,其中247组数据用于训练网络,其余数据用于测试网络。测试结果表明,该网络的预测结果与实际结果的误差在3%以内,同时通过敏感性分析得出以下结论:①膨润土添加量、生球碳含量以及成品球的FeO、MgO、Al2O3含量和碱度对球团矿的冷压强度有重要影响;②增加膨润土添加量、成品球碱度、MgO含量、焙烧温度、干透点温度、COREX煤气单耗有助于改善球团矿的冷压强度;③增加FeO含量、生球碳含量、Al2O3含量、料层高度、给料率将使球团矿的冷压强度迅速下降;④增加生球水分会降低冷压强度;⑤提高球团矿冷压强度的参数设置(膨润土的添加量:0.86%~0.92%;wFeO<0.5%;生球碳含量:1.00%~1.10%;MgO含量:0.39%~0.44%);⑥在0.3~0.7范围内增加碱度不能显著改善球团矿的冷压强度。T Umadevi Naveen F Lobo Sangamesh Desai Manjunath Prabhu 黄可为 2012世界钢铁2012,12,4:2
