1THE COUPLED FEM ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSIENT TEMPERATURE FIELD DURING INERTIA FRICTION WELDING OF GH4169 ALLOY显示文摘The inertia friction welding process is a non-linear process because of the interaction between the temperature field and the material properties as well as the friction force. A thermo-mechanical coupled finite element model is established to simulate the temperature field of this process. The transient temperature distribution during the inertia friction welding process of two similar workpieces of GH4169 alloy is calculated. The region of the circular cross-section of the workpiece is divided into a number of four-nodded isoparametric elements. In this model, the temperature dependent thermal properties, time dependent heat inputs, contact condition of welding interface, and deformation of the flash were considered. At the same time, the convection and radiation heat losses at the surface of the workpieces were also considered. A temperature data acquisition system was developed. The temperature at some position near the welding interface was measured using this system. The calculated temperature agrees well with the experimental data. 3Low-temperature oxidation behavior of MoSi_2 powders显示文摘The oxidation behavior of molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) powders at 400, 500, and 600oC for 12 h in air were investi- gated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopic (TEM) techniques. Significant changes were observed in volume, mass, and color. Especially at 500oC, the volume expansion was found to be as high as 7-8 times, the color changed from black to yellow-white, and the mass gain was about 169.34% after 8 h, with SiO2 and MoO3 as main reaction products. The gains in volume and mass were less at 400 and 600oC compared with those at 500oC, probably due to the less reaction rate at 400oC and the formation of silica glass scale at 600oC, which would protect the matrix and restrain the diffusion of oxygen and molybdenum. Thus, the accelerated oxidation behavior of MoSi2 powder appeared at 500oC and the volume expansion was the sign of accelerated oxida- tion.Peizhong Feng Xuanhui Qu Islam S.
