1Role of live microbial feed supplements with reference to anaerobic fungi in ruminant productivity: A review显示文摘To keep the concept of a safe food supply to the consumers, animal feed industries world over are showing an increasing interest in the direct-fed microbials(DFM) for improved animal performance in terms of growth or productivity. This becomes all the more essential in a situation, where a number of the residues of antibiotics and/or other growth stimulants reach in milk and meat with a number of associated potential risks for the consumers. Hence, in the absence of growth stimulants, a positive manipulation of the rumen microbial ecosystem to enhance the feedstuff utilization for improved production efficiency by ruminants has become of much interest to the researchers and entrepreneurs. A few genera of live microbes(i.e., bacteria, fungi and yeasts in different types of formulations from paste to powder) are infrequently used as DFM for the domestic ruminants. These DFM products are live microbial feed supplements containing naturally occurring microbes in the rumen. Among different DFM possibilities, anaerobic rumen fungi(ARF) based additives have been found to improve ruminant productivity consistently during feeding trials. Administration of ARF during the few trials conducted, led to the increased weight gain, milk production, and total tract digestibility of feed components in ruminants. Anaerobic fungi in the rumen display very strong cell-wall degrading cellulolytic and xylanolytic activities through rhizoid development, resulting in the physical disruption of feed structure paving the way for bacterial action. Significant improvements in the fiber digestibility were found to coincide with increases in ARF in the rumen indicating their role. Most of the researches based on DFM have indicated a positive response in nutrient digestion and methane reducing potential during in vivo and/or in vitro supplementation of ARF as DFM. 3CFD modeling to study the effect of particle size on dispersion in 20l explosion chamber: An overview显示文摘Mine disasters occur predominantly due to methane or coal dust explosion or a combination of both.Among the top ten worst coal mine disasters in India, nine are due to coal dust explosion. The current paper describes a general overview of the parameters causing dispersion leading to coal dust explosion,and computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation study to observe the effects of particle size on dispersion in Indian coal mines. Turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) and velocity vector path of dust-air mixture and dust-free air were simulated to understand their effects on coal dust dispersion. The TKE contours and velocity vector paths for dust-free air were uniform and symmetrical due to resistance-free path available. The TKE contours and velocity vector paths for dust-air mixture shows the asymmetrical distribution of contours, due to entrainment of air with dust particles. Vortices were observed in velocity vector paths which gradually diminish on increment of time sequence. 7Triple tube drainage for “difficult” gastroduodenal perforations:A prospective study显示文摘AIM To prospectively study the outcome of difficult gastroduodenal perforations(GDPs) treated by triple tube drainage(TTD) in order to standardize the procedure.METHODS Patients presenting to a single surgical unit of a tertiary hospital with difficult GDPs(large, unfavourable local and systemic factors) were treated with TTD(gastrostomy, duodenostomy and feeding jejunostomy). Postoperative parameters were observed like time to return of bowel sounds, time to start enteral feeds, time to start oral feeds, daily output of all drains, time to clamping/removal of all drains, time for skin to heal, complications, hospital stay, and, mortality. Descriptive statistics were used. RESULTS Between December 2013 and April 2015, 20 patients undergoing TTD for GDP were included, with mean age of 44.6 ± 19.8 years and male:female ratio of 17:3. Mean pre-operative APACHE Ⅱ scores were 10.85 ± 3.55; most GDPs were prepyloric(9/20; 45%) or proximal duodenal(8/20; 40%) and mean size was 1.83 ± 0.59 cm(largest 2.5 cm). Median times of resumption of enteral feeding, removal of gastrostomy, removal of duodenostomy,removal of feeding jejunostomy and oral feeding were 4 d(4-5 IQR), 13(12-16.5 IQR), 16(16.25-22.25 IQR), 18(16.5-24 IQR) and 12 d(10.75-18.5 IQR) respectively. Median hospital stay was 22 d(19-26 IQR) while mortality was 4/20(20%). CONCLUSION TTD for difficult GDP is feasible, easy in the emergency, and patients recover in two-three weeks. 8Chaos control in a discrete-time predator-prey model with weak Allee effect显示文摘The stability of the predator-prey model subject to the Allee effect is an interesting topic in recent times.In this paper,we investigate the impact of weak Allee effect on the stability of a discrete-time predator-prey model with Holling type-IV functional response.The mathematical features of the proposed model are analyzed with the help of equilibrium analysis,stability analysis,and bifurcation theory.We provide sufficient conditions for the flip bifurcation by considering Allee parameter as the bifurcation parameter.We observe that the model becomes stable from chaotic dynamics as the Allee parameter increases.Further,we observe bi-stability behavior of the model between only prey existence equilibrium and the coexistence equilibrium.Our analytical findings are illustrated through numerical simulations.Saheb Pal Sourav Kumar Sasmal Nikhil Pal 2018International Journal of Biomathematics2018,11,7:1
9A New Design Approach for Nearly Linear Phase Stable IIR Filter using Fractional Derivative显示文摘In this paper,a new design method for digital infinite impulse response(IIR)filters with nearly linear-phase response is presented using fractional derivative constraints(FDCs).In the proposed method,design problem of an IIR frlter is constructed as the minimization of phase error between the desired and designed phase response of an allpass filter(APF)such that the designed lowpass filter(LPF)or highpass frlter(HPF)yields less passband(ep),and stopband errors(es)with optimal stopband attenuation(As).In order to have accurate passband(pb)response,FDCs are imposed on appropriate reference frequency,where the optimality of these FDCs are ensured by using a new greedy based sorting mechanism.The simulated results reflect the efficiency of the proposed method in term of improved passband response along with better transition width.However,small reduction in^is observed within the allowable limit,when compared to noin-fractional design approach,but the designed filter remains immune to wordlength(WL)effect.Nikhil Agrawal Anil Kumar Varun Bajaj 2020IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2020,7,2:1

17Inhibiting Protein Aggregation by Small Molecule-Based Colloidal Nanoparticles显示文摘CONSPECTUS:Protein aggregation is associated with different human diseases such as Alzheimer’s,Huntington’s,Parkinson’s,diabetes type II,and cataracts.Currently no effective treatment exists for many of these diseases,particularly for neurological disorders.Ongoing research focuses on understanding the origin of protein aggregation,nucleation−growth mechanism of protein aggregation,origin of cytotoxicity of protein aggregates,cellular response of toxic protein aggregates,progress of diseases at intra/extracellular space,and drug developments for respective diseases.Key issues are the identification of molecular drugs that can inhibit protein aggregation at early stage,lowering of toxicity due to protein aggregates,delivery of drugs to remote organ and intracellular space,clearing matured protein aggregates from cell/extracellular space/brain,and design of effective therapeutic strategy.Chemists and materials scientists have identified a wide variety of antiamyloidogenic small molecules,macromolecules,and nanomaterials.It is shown that antiamyloidogenic molecules prevent protein oligomerization via binding to protein,masking metal ions(via chelating with metal ions)that are responsible for protein aggregation via generating reactive oxygen species(ROS),and lowering protein−protein interaction via macromolecular crowding effect.Similarly,nanoscale materials with curved surface and multiple chemical functional groups act as adsorption/binding sites of proteins,modulate nucleation−growth kinetics of protein aggregation,and delay/inhibit protein aggregation in many cases.However,performance of all these antiamyloidogenic materials needs significant improvement,and proper therapeutic strategies are required for effective drug development.In this Account,we describe that the performance of antiamyloidogenic molecules can be greatly improved via appropriate design into colloidal and nanoparticle form.We first discuss different human diseases that are linked with protein aggregation,location and mechanism of protein aggregation,adverse effect of protein aggregates on cell functions,and progress of different diseases due to these effects.Next,we discuss different classes of antiamyloidogenic materials,their mechanism of inhibiting protein aggregation,and existing approaches for their utilization under in vitro/in vivo conditions.Further,we show that antiamyloidogenic performance of small molecules can be enhanced as high as 100000-times if they are transformed into appropriately designed colloidal nanoparticles.In particular,we explain that such enhanced performance is due to increased bioavailability at intra/extracellular space,modular binding property with protein,and higher brain delivery option in nanoparticle form.Next,we discuss different strategies for the preparation of colloidal nanoparticle where antiamyloidogenic molecules are terminated or loaded with nanoparticle and polymer micelle and their mechanism of action.Finally,we discuss that a wide variety of colloidal nanoparticles can be designed either for inhibiting or disintegrating or clearing of protein aggregates.The Account ends with a“Conclusions and Outlook”section that discuss a vision for development of therapeutic nanodrug for protein aggregation-related diseases.Koushik Debnath Ankan Kumar Sarkar Nihar R.Jana Nikhil R.Jana 2022Accounts of Materials Research2022,3,1:0

20Nanosecond pulse discharge based nitrogen oxides treatment using different electrode configurations显示文摘Nowadays,the intensity of air pollution,due to the industries and automobiles,has been increasing continuously.Nitrogen oxides(NO_(X))are one of the most harmful pollutants,which are getting released from both automobile and stationary diesel engines.They essentially need to be removed from the exhaust using after treatment systems.However,the energy required to remove these pollutants is one of the major considerations in selecting the technology for pollutant removal from diesel engine exhaust.A study has been carried out on the non-thermal plasma-based NO_(X) removal technique using various combinations of power supply units and electrode configurations.Three different electrode configurations are tested,in which two are cylindrical electrodes with diameters 3 and 5 mm,and the other one is a square electrode with a diagonal of 5 mm.A comparison is made between the results with two different pulse power supply units,PS-I:high-voltage direct current test set based and PS-II:DC–DC converter based.The square electrode with PS-Ⅱhas been found to be the optimal combination,which has removed 85%of NO_(X) from the exhaust at an energy density of 55.5 J/L,when the initial NO_(X) concentration in the exhaust is 388 ppm.Sankarsan Mohapatro Srikanth Allamsetty Apeksha Madhukar Nikhil Kumar Sharma 2017High Voltage2017,2,2:0
