Application of response surface methodology(RSM) for optimization of leaching parameters for ash reduction from low-grade coal显示文摘Coal is the world's most abundant energy source because of its abundance and relatively low cost. Due to the scarcity in the supply of high-grade coal, it is necessary to use low-grade coal for fulfilling energy demands of modern civilization. However, due to its high ash and moisture content, low-grade coal exerts the substantial impact on their consumption like pyrolysis, liquefaction, gasification and combustion process. The present research aimed to develop the efficient technique for the production of clean coal by optimizing the operating parameters with the help of response surface methodology. The effect of three independent variables such as hydrofluoric acid(HF) concentration(10–20% by volume), temperature(60–100 °C), and time(90–180 min), for ash reduction from the low-grade coal was investigated. A quadratic model was proposed to correlate the independent variables for maximum ash reduction at the optimum process condition by using central composite design(CCD) method. The study reveals that HF concentration was the most effective parameter for ash reduction in comparison with time and temperature. It may be due to the higher F-statistics value for HF concentration, which effects to large extent of ash reduction. The characterization of coal was evaluated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) analysis and Field-emission scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray(FESEMEDX) analysis for confirmation of the ash reduction.Sushanta Kumar Behera Himanshu Meena Sudipto Chakraborty B.C.Meikap 2018International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2018,28,4:9
Robust Adaptive Gain Higher Order Sliding Mode Observer Based Control-constrained Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Spacecraft Formation Flying显示文摘This work deals with the development of a decentralized optimal control algorithm, along with a robust observer, for the relative motion control of spacecraft in leader-follower based formation. An adaptive gain higher order sliding mode observer has been proposed to estimate the velocity as well as unmeasured disturbances from the noisy position measurements.A differentiator structure containing the Lipschitz constant and Lebesgue measurable control input, is utilized for obtaining the estimates. Adaptive tuning algorithms are derived based on Lyapunov stability theory, for updating the observer gains, which will give enough flexibility in the choice of initial estimates. Moreover, it may help to cope with unexpected state jerks. The trajectory tracking problem is formulated as a finite horizon optimal control problem, which is solved online. The control constraints are incorporated by using a nonquadratic performance functional. An adaptive update law has been derived for tuning the step size in the optimization algorithm, which may help to improve the convergence speed. Moreover, it is an attractive alternative to the heuristic choice of step size for diverse operating conditions. The disturbance as well as state estimates from the higher order sliding mode observer are utilized by the plant output prediction model, which will improve the overall performance of the controller. The nonlinear dynamics defined in leader fixed Euler-Hill frame has been considered for the present work and the reference trajectories are generated using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations of unperturbed motion. The simulation results based on rigorous perturbation analysis are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach.Ranjith Ravindranathan Nair Laxmidhar Behera 2018IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2018,5,1:8
Computational Identification of Sweet Wormwood (Artemisia annua) microRNA and Their mRNA Targets显示文摘Despite its efficacy against malaria, the relatively low yield (0.01%-0.8%) of artemisinin in Artemisia annua is a serious limitation to the commercialization of the drug. A better understanding of the biosynthetic pathway of artemisinin and its regulation by both exogenous and endogenous factors is essential to improve artemisinin yield. Increasing evidence has shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) play multiple roles in various biological processes. In this study, we used previously known miRNAs from Arabidopsis and rice against expressed sequence tag (EST) database of A. annua to search for potential miRNAs and their targets in A. annua. A total of six potential miRNAs were predicted, which belong to the miR414 and miR1310 families. Furthermore, eight potential target genes were identified in this species. Among them, seven genes encode proteins that play important roles in ar- temisinin biosynthesis, including HMG-CoA reductase (HMGR), amorpha-4,11-diene synthase (ADS), farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPS) and cytochrome P450. In addition, a gene coding for putative AINTEGUMENTA, which is involved in signal transduction and development, was also predicted as one of the targets. This is the first in silico study to indicate that miRNAs target genes encoding enzymes involved in artemisinin biosynthesis, which may help to understand the miRNA-mediated regulation of artemisinin biosynthesis in A. annua.Alok Pani Rajani Kanta Mahapatra Niranjan Behera Pradeep Kumar Naik 2011Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2011,9,6:7
A Novel Multi-agent Formation Control Law With Collision Avoidance显示文摘In this paper a stable formation control law that simultaneously ensures collision avoidance has been proposed. It is assumed that the communication graph is undirected and connected. The proposed formation control law is a combination of the consensus term and the collision avoidance term(CAT).The first order consensus term is derived for the proposed model, while ensuring the Lyapunov stability. The consensus term creates and maintains the desired formation shape, while the CAT avoids the collision.During the collision avoidance, the potential function based CAT makes the agents repel from each other. This unrestricted repelling magnitude cannot ensure the graph connectivity at the time of collision avoidance.Hence we have proposed a formation control law, which ensures this connectivity even during the collision avoidance. This is achieved by the proposed novel adaptive potential function. The potential function adapts itself, with the online tuning of the critical variable associated with it.The tuning has been done based on the lower bound of the critical variable, which is derived from the proposed connectivity property. The efficacy of the proposed scheme has been validated using simulations done based on formations of six and thirty-two agents respectively.Arindam Mondal Laxmidhar Behera Soumya Ranjan Sahoo Anupam Shukla 2017IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2017,4,3:7

A Novel Cascaded PID Controller for Automatic Generation Control Analysis With Renewable Sources显示文摘Present day power scenarios demand a high quality uninterrupted power supply and needs environmental issues to be addressed. Both concerns can be dealt with by the introduction of the renewable sources to the existing power system. Thus, automatic generation control(AGC) with diverse renewable sources and a modified-cascaded controller are presented in the paper. Also, a new hybrid scheme of the improved teaching learning based optimization-differential evolution(hITLBO-DE) algorithm is applied for providing optimization of controller parameters. A study of the system with a technique such as TLBO applied to a proportional integral derivative(PID), integral double derivative(IDD) and PIDD is compared to hITLBO-DE tuned cascaded controller with dynamic load change. The suggested methodology has been extensively applied to a 2-area system with a diverse source power system with various operation time non-linearities such as dead-band of, generation rate constraint and reheat thermal units. The multi-area system with reheat thermal plants, hydel plants and a unit of a wind-diesel combination is tested with the cascaded controller scheme with a different controller setting for each area. The variation of the load is taken within 1% to 5% of the connected load and robustness analysis is shown by modifying essential factors simultaneously by± 30%. Finally, the proposed scheme of controller and optimization technique is also tested with a 5-equal area thermal system with non-linearities. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed controller and algorithm under a dynamically changing load.Aurobindo Behera Tapas Kumar Panigrahi PrakashK·Ray Arun Kumar Sahoo 2019IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2019,6,6:5
Erlotinib usage after prior treatment with gefitinib in advanced non-small cell lung cancer: A clinical perspective and review of published literature显示文摘Erlotinib and gefitinib are among the most widely researched, used and available molecularly targeted therapies for treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). They are both tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) of the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR). In the past decade, there have been reports on clinical benefit from use of erlotinib after gefitinib failure in NSCLC patients. A review of published literature on this focussed topic is provided herein. Pooled analysis of published literature shows that majority of patients were female(60.6%), non-smokers(64.5%), had adenocarcinoma histology(88.3%) and were of East Asian ethnicity(92.3%). Presence of sensitizing EGFR mutation was detected in 48.4% of subjects. Disease control rates with prior gefitinib therapy and with subsequent erlotinib treatment were 79.4% and 45.4% respectively. Based upon our review, the most important predictive factor for clinical benefit from erlotinib identified was previous response to gefitinib. The exact explanations for the potential benefit from erlotinib use in this patient population is still not known and further studies are required to determine the role of molecular mechanismsespecially those related to resistance to initial EGFR TKI therapy.Navneet Singh Aditya Jindal Digambar Behera 2014World Journal of Clinical Oncology2014,5,5:5

Experimental and Quantum Studies on Adsorption and Corrosion Inhibition Effect on Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid by Thiophene Derivatives显示文摘The inhibition effect of synthesized diethyl 3,4-bis(4-methoxybenzylideneamino) thieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate(Inh I) and diethyl 3,4-bis(benzylideneamino) thieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate(Inh Ⅱ),on corrosion of mild steel in 15%HC1 solution was investigated using weight loss measurements, electrochemical polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. The experimental results show that the inhibition efficiency of studied inhibitors increased with the increase of inhibitors concentration but decreased with the increase of temperature.Corrosion inhibition efficiencies of 94.5%and 92.1%were obtained with 250 ppm of Inh I and Inh Ⅱ at 303 K,respectively. The potentiodynamic polarization measurements indicate that the studied inhibitors act as mixed inhibitor. The thermodynamic parameters of the corrosion and adsorption processes were calculated and evaluated. The adsorption of these inhibitors was found to obey Langmuir adsorption isotherm.Scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the surface morphology of the mild steel specimens in presence and absence of inhibitors. The mechanism of the inhibition process was discussed in the light of the chemical structure and quantum-chemical calculations of the investigated inhibitors.M.Yadav Debasis Behera R.R.Sinha P.N.Yadav 2014Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,1:3

Comparative study of Eu^(3+)-activated LnOCl(Ln=La and Gd) phosphors and their Judd-Ofelt analysis显示文摘Eu3+-activated layered Ln OCl(Ln=La and Gd) phosphors were synthesized by the conventional solid-state method at relatively low temperature(700 °C) and shorter duration of 2 h. The structural parameters were refined by the Rietveld refinement analysis and confirmed by the high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM). Both the compounds were crystallized in the tetragonal structure with space group P4/nmm(No. 129). The homogeneity of the elements were analyzed by TEM mapping and found to be uniformly distributed. The photoluminescence spectra revealed that the intensity of 5D0→7F2 transition(619 nm) was more intense in Eu3+-activated Gd OCl compared to La OCl. This was due to the property of Gd3+ ions to act as an intermediate sublattice to facilitate the energy transfer to Eu3+ ions. Intensity parameters and radiative properties such as transition probabilities, radiative lifetime and branching ratio were calculated using the Judd-Ofelt theory. The CIE color coordinates result revealed that the Eu3+-activated Gd OCl(0.641, 0.354) phosphor was close to the commercial red phosphors like, Y2O3:Eu3+(0.645, 0.347), Y2O2S:Eu3+(0.647, 0.343) and National Television System Committee(NTSC)(0.67, 0.33). The results suggest that the present Gd OCl:Eu3+ compound acts as a potential candidate for red phosphor materials.N.Dhananjaya C.Shivakumara Rohit Saraf Sukanti Behera H.Nagabhushana 2015Journal of Rare Earths2015,33,9:3
Drought Tolerance in Rice: Focus on Recent Mechanisms and Approaches显示文摘Drought stress is a serious limiting factor to rice production, which results in huge economic losses. It is becoming a more serious issue with respect to the global climate change.Keeping in view of the current and forecasted global food demand,it has become essential to enhance the crop productivity on the drought-prone rainfed lands with priority. In order to achieve the production target from rainfed areas, there is a requirement of rice varieties with drought tolerance, and genetic improvement for drought tolerant should be a high priority theme of research in the future.Breeding for drought tolerant rice varieties is a thought-provoking task because of the complex nature and multigenic control of drought tolerant traits would be a major bottleneck for the current research.A great progress has been made during last two decades in our understanding of the mechanisms involved in adaptation and tolerance to drought stress in rice.In this review,we highlighted the recent progresses in physiological, biochemical and molecular adaptation of rice to drought tolerance.A brief discussion on the molecular genetics and breeding approaches for drought tolerance in rice will be focused for the future crop improvement program for development of drought tolerant rice varieties.Debabrata PANDA Swati Sakambari MISHRA Prafulla Kumar BEHERA 2021Rice science2021,28,2:3
Ceftazidime resistance in Burkholderia pseudomallei:First report from India显示文摘Melioidosis,a disease of public health importance in Southeast Asia and Northern Australia,of late has shown an increasing trend in India, particularly Southern India. We describe a ease of a 39-year-old diabetic patient with left elbow septic arthritis, multiple liver, splenic abscesses, pneumonia, pleural effusion, followed by sepsis syndrome.Blood cultures and culture of the joint aspirate yielded pure growth of Burkholderia psettdomallei(B.pesudomallei),sensitive to carbapenem,co-trimoxazole and resistant to ceftazidime. The patient was successfully treated with imipenem- cilastin. He was discharged on co-trimoxazole to complete the 24 weeks course and follow-up has continued to date. The patient continues to remain asymptomatic. The case re-emphasizes the need to monitor the trend of B.pseudomallei in India, particularly the development of ceftazidime resistance, which incidentally is the drug of choice.Bijayini Behera TLVD Prasad Babu A Kamalesh Gangadhar Reddy 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,4:3
Ethanol mediated As(Ⅲ) adsorption onto Zn-loaded pinecone biochar:Experimental investigation, modeling, and optimization using hybrid artificial neural network-genetic algorithm approach显示文摘Organic matters(OMs) and their oxidization products often influence the fate and transport of heavy metals in the subsurface aqueous systems through interaction with the mineral surfaces. This study investigates the ethanol(EtO H)-mediated As(Ⅲ) adsorption onto Zn-loaded pinecone(PC) biochar through batch experiments conducted under Box–Behnken design. The effect of EtO H on As(Ⅲ) adsorption mechanism was quantitatively elucidated by fitting the experimental data using artificial neural network and quadratic modeling approaches. The quadratic model could describe the limiting nature of EtO H and pH on As(Ⅲ) adsorption, whereas neural network revealed the stronger influence of Et OH(64.5%) followed by pH(20.75%)and As(Ⅲ) concentration(14.75%) on the adsorption phenomena. Besides, the interaction among process variables indicated that Et OH enhances As(Ⅲ) adsorption over a pH range of2 to 7, possibly due to facilitation of ligand–metal(Zn) binding complexation mechanism.Eventually, hybrid response surface model–genetic algorithm(RSM–GA) approach predicted a better optimal solution than RSM, i.e., the adsorptive removal of As(Ⅲ)(10.47 μg/g) is facilitated at 30.22 mg C/L of Et OH with initial As(Ⅲ) concentration of 196.77 μg/L at pH 5.8. The implication of this investigation might help in understanding the application of biochar for removal of various As(Ⅲ) species in the presence of OM.Mohd.Zafar N.Van Vinh Shishir Kumar Behera Hung-Suck Park 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,4:3
Maturity status classification of papaya fruits based on machine learning and transfer learning approach显示文摘Papaya(Carica papaya)is a tropical fruit having commercial importance because of its high nutritive and medicinal value. The packaging of papaya fruit as per its maturity status is an essential task in the fruit industry. The manual grading of papaya fruit based on human visual perception is time-consuming and destructive. The objective of this paper is to suggest a novel non-destructive maturity status classification of papaya fruits. The paper suggested two approaches based on machine learning and transfer learning for classification of papaya maturity status. Also,a comparative analysis is carried out with different methods of machine learning and transfer learning. The experimentation is carried out with 300 papaya fruit sample images which includes 100 of each three maturity stages. The machine learning approach includes three sets of features and three classifiers with their different kernel functions. The features and classifiers used in machine learning approaches are local binary pattern(LBP),histogram of oriented gradients(HOG),Gray Level Cooccurrence Matrix(GLCM)and k-nearest neighbour(KNN),support vector machine(SVM),Naı¨ve Bayes respectively. The transfer learning approach includes seven pretrained models such as ResNet101,ResNet50,ResNet18,VGG19,VGG16,GoogleNet and AlexNet.The weighted KNN with HOG feature outperforms other machine learningbased classification model with 100%of accuracy and 0.0995 s training time.Again, among the transfer learning approach based classification model VGG19 performs better with 100%accuracy and 1 min 52 s training time with consideration of early stop training. The proposed classification method for maturity classification of papaya fruits,i.e.VGG19 based on transfer learning approach achieved 100%accuracy which is 6%more than the existing method.Santi Kumari Behera Amiya Kumar Rath Prabira Kumar Sethy 2021Information Processing in Agriculture2021,8,2:3
A chemically stable nanoporous coordination polymer with fixed and free Cu^(2+)ions for boosted C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)separation显示文摘Safely and highly selective acetylene(C_(2)H_(2))capture is a great challenge, because of its highly explosive nature,as well as its nearly similar molecule size and boiling point toward the main impurity of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)).Adsorption separation has shown a promising future.Herein,a new nanoporous coordination polymer(PCP)adsorbent with fixed and free Cu ions(termed NTU-66-Cu)was prepared through post-synthetic approach via cation exchanging from the pristine NTU-66,an anionic framework with new 3,4,6-c topology and two kinds of cages. The NTU-66-Cu shows significantly improved C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)selectivity from 6 to 32(v/v:1/1)or 4 to 4_(2)(v/v:1/4)at low pressure under 298 K,along with enhanced C_(2)H_(2)capacity(from 89.22to 111.53 cm^(3)·g^(-1)).More importantly, this observation was further validated by density functional theory(DFT)calculations and breakthrough experiments under continuous and dynamic conditions.Further, the excellent chemical stability enables this adsorbent to achieve recycle C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)separation without loss of C_(2)H_(2)capacity.Si Chen Nibedita Behera Chao Yang Qiubing Dong Baishu Zheng Yingying Li Qi Tang Zhaoxu Wang Yanqing Wang Jingui Duan 2021Nano Research2021,14,2:3

Effect of dysprosium substitution on structural and dielectric properties of BiFeO_3-PbTiO_3 multiferroic composites显示文摘0.5BiDyxFe1–xO3-0.5PbTiO3(0.5BDxF1–x-0.5PT)(x=0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) multiferroic composites were prepared by conventional solid state reaction method. Structural characterization was performed by X-ray diffraction and the materials showed tetragonal structure at room temperature. Surface morphology of the composites was studied by a scanning electron microscope(SEM). Frequency and temperature dependence of dielectric constant(εr) and dielectric loss(tanδ) of 0.5BDxF1–x-0.5PT were measured in a wide range of frequency(100 Hz to 1 MHz) and temperature(25 to 400 ℃). The analysis of the study showed that the εr and tanδ decreased with increasing frequency in the given range for all the samples which could be explained through the occurrence of dipole relaxation process. The effect of substitution of rare earth element dysprosium(Dy) showed increase in εr in all the samples prepared for different concentrations from 0.00 to 0.20. An explanation for high value of εr for Dy modified 0.5BiFeO3-0.5PbTiO3(0.5BF-0.5PT) compared to Gd modified 0.5BF-0.5PT was provided. The variation of AC conductivity with inverse temperature found to obey the Arrhenius equation and the composites showed negative temperature coefficient of resistance(NTCR) behavior. The activation energy was found to be in the range from 0.25 to 0.40 eV for all the studied samples.N.K.Mohanty A.K.Behera S.K.Satpathy Banarji Behera P.Nayak 2015Journal of Rare Earths2015,33,6:3
Revealing Genetic Relationship and Prospecting of Novel Donors Among Upland Rice Genotypes Using qDTY-Linked SSR Markers显示文摘A total of 17 simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers linked to QTLs(qDTYs) governing grain yield under reproductive stage(RS) drought stress were used to assess the genetic relationship and prospecting new donors for q DTYs among 32 popular upland rice genotypes. These SSR markers generated a total of 36 alleles with an average allele count of 2.1 per locus. Polymorphic information content value of the markers ranged from 0.376 to 0.662 with an average value of 0.484. The expected heterozyogosity ranged from 0.381 to 0.632. STRUCTURE analysis divided the 32 genotypes into three sub-populations. Subsequent phenotyping revealed that all the tolerant genotypes were grouped into one sub-population, whereas the moderately tolerant and susceptible genotypes were grouped into separate sub-populations. Phylogenetic tree constructed by the unweighted neighbour-joining method also divided the genotypes into three clusters. The grouping pattern of genotypes into the clusters was similar to that into the STRUCTURE analysis, on the basis of drought tolerance level. The average value of genetic dissimilarity coefficient among the genotypes was observed to be 0.486. Furthermore, by combining genotyping data with phenotyping data, 16 new donors for 6 qDTYs were identified.Mitadru MUKHERJEE Barada PADHY Bharathkumar SRINIVASAN Pradosh MAHADANI Sk Yasin BAKSH Ravindra DONDE Onkar Nath SINGH Lambodar BEHERA Padmini SWAIN Sushanta Kumar DASH 2018Rice science2018,25,6:2
