| 1 | Pancreatic trauma: A concise review显示文摘Traumatic injury to the pancreas is rare and difficult to diagnose.In contrast,traumatic injuries to the liver,spleen and kidney are common and are usually identified with ease by imaging modalities.Pancreatic injuries are usually subtle to identify by different diagnostic imaging modalities,and these injuries are often overlooked in cases with extensive multiorgan trauma.The most evident findings of pancreatic injury are posttraumatic pancreatitis with blood,edema,and soft tissue infiltration of the anterior pararenal space.The alterations of post-traumatic pancreatitis may not be visualized within several hours following trauma as they are time dependent.Delayed diagnoses of traumatic pancreatic injuries are associated with high morbidity and mortality.Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis of pancreatic injuries because early recognition of the disruption of the main pancreatic duct is important.We reviewed our experience with the use of various imaging modalities for diagnosis of blunt pancreatic trauma. | Uma Debi Ravinder Kaur Kaushal Kishor Prasad Saroj Kant Sinha Anindita Sinha Kartar Singh | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,47: | 26 |

| 6 | Endoscopic incisional therapy for benign esophageal strictures: Technique and results显示文摘Benign esophageal strictures refractory to the conventional balloon or bougie dilatation may be subjected to various adjunctive modes of therapy, one of them being endoscopic incisional therapy(EIT). A proper delineation of the stricture anatomy is a prerequisite. A host of electrocautery and mechanical devices may be used, the most common being the use of needle knife, either standard or insulated tip. The technique entails radial incision and cutting off of the stenotic rim. Adjunctive therapies, to prevent re-stenosis, such as balloon dilatation, oral or intralesional steroids or argon plasma coagulation can be used. The common strictures where EIT has been successfully used are Schatzki's rings(SR) and anastomotic strictures(AS). Short segment strictures(< 1 cm) have been found to have the best outcome. When compared with routine balloon dilatation, EIT has equivalent results in treatment na?ve cases but better long term outcome in refractory cases. Anecdotal reports of its use in other types of strictures have been noted. Post procedure complications of EIT are mild and comparable to dilatation therapy. | 9 | Congenital pulmonary airway malformation: A report of two cases显示文摘Congenital pulmonary airway malformation(CPAM), previously known as congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation is a congenital disorder of the lung similar to bronchopulmonary sequestration. In CPAM, usually an entire lobe of lung is replaced by a non-working cystic piece of abnormal lung tissue. This abnormal tissue will never function as normal lung tissue. The underlying cause for CPAM is not known. It occurs in approximately 1 in every 30000 pregnancies. The association between CPAM and malignancy has been well documented. There is a small risk(0.7%) of malignant transformation within the cyst. So early diagnosis and surgical resection is important to prevent the grave complications. | 10 | Magnesium based implants for functional bone tissue regeneration–A review显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)has emerged as one of the third-generation biomaterials for regeneration and support of functional bone tissue.Mg is a better choice over permanent implants such as titanium,stainless steel,cobalt-chrome as magnesium is biodegradable and does not require a second surgery for its removal after bone tissue recovery.It also reduces the risk of stress shielding as its elastic modulus is closer to human bone in comparison to permanent implants and other biodegradable metallic implants based on Iron and Zinc.Most importantly,Mg is osteoconductive thus stimulates new bone formation and possess anti-bacterial properties hence reducing the risk of failure due to infection.Despite its advantages,a major concern with pure Mg is its rapid bio-corrosion in presence of body fluids due to which the mechanical integrity of the implant deteriorates before healing of the tissue is complete.Mechanical properties of Mg-based implants can be enhanced by mechanical processing,alloying,and topology optimization.To reduce the corrosion/degradation rate,Mg has been alloyed with metals,reinforced with ceramics,and surface coatings have been applied so that the degradation rate of Mg-based implant matches with that of healing rate of bone tissue.The present review discusses the effect of alloying elements and reinforcing ceramics on microstructure,mechanical,and corrosion properties of Mg-based orthopedic implants.In addition,the biocompatibility of Mg-based alloys,composites,and coatings applied on Mg implants has been highlighted.Further,different methods of fabricating porous implants have been highlighted as making the implant porous facilitates the growth of new bone tissue through the pores. | Gavish Uppal Amit Thakur Amit Chauhan Saroj Bala | 2022 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,2: | 4 |

| 13 | Mid-term Outcomes of Primary Constrained Condylar Knee Arthroplasty for Severe Knee Deformity显示文摘This study aimed to examine the clinical and radiographic outcomes of primary total knee arthroplasy(TKA) with use of Nex Gen® Legacy® Constrained Condylar Knee(CCK) prosthesis for severe knee deformity. Clinical data of 46 patients(48 knees in total, aged 61 years on average) with severe knee deformity who underwent TKA with Nex Gen® Legacy® CCK prosthesis between December 2007 and February 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 34 knees with severe valgus with incompetent medial collateral ligament, 11 knees with severe flexion contracture with inability to achieve knee balancing in flexion and extension by posterior soft tissue release, 2 knees with Charcot arthritis with severe varus and bone loss, and 1 with traumatic osteoarthritis with severe varus and ligamentous instability. The mean duration of follow-up was 71 months(range 40–90 months). The New Knee Society scoring(NKSS) system and the Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS) score were used to evaluate the functional and clinical outcomes. Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) was used for pain measurement and Knee Society criteria for evaluation of radiological images. The results showed that, in the total 48 knees, 1 case of loosening due to short-stem tibial component at 3 months post-operatively underwent revision. The 6-year prosthesis survival rate in this cohort was 97.9%. There was no component infection occurring within 6 years. Significant post-operative improvements were found in NKSS and HSS scores. Patient satisfaction was significantly increased. Pain score was decreased significantly. Total functional score was improved from 31.46±11.43 to 86.42±8.87, range of motion(ROM) from 42.42°±23.57° to 95.31°±23.45° and the flexion contracture from 5.31°±7.87° to 0.92°±1.80°. Preoperative radiographic study showed excessive valgus(≥7°) in 37 knees, and varus deformity in 3 knees. Post-operative femorotibial alignment was valgus 3.88°±1.76° in 48 knees. Antero/posterior(A/P) view of X-ray films showed 4 radiolucent lines(RLL) in 48 tibial components.
