3SIMULATION OF MAXIMUM LIGHT USE EFFICIENCY FOR SOME TYPICAL VEGETATION TYPES IN CHINA显示文摘Maximum light use efficiency (εmax) is a key parameter for the estimation of net primary pro-ductivity (NPP) derived from remote sensing data. There are still many divergences about its value for each vegetation type. The εmax for some typical vegetation types in China is simulated using a modi-fied least squares function based on NOAA/AVHRR remote sensing data and field-observed NPP data. The vegetation classification accuracy is introduced to the process. The sensitivity analysis of εmax to vegetation classification accuracy is also conducted. The results show that the simulated values of εmax are greater than the value used in CASA model, and less than the values simulated with BIOME-BGC model. This is consistent with some other studies. The rela-tive error of εmax resulting from classification accuracy is ?5.5%―8.0%. 6Various approaches of laparoscopic common bile duct exploration plus primary duct closure for choledocholithiasis:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background: Common bile duct(CBD) stones may occur in up to 3%–14.7% of all patients with cholecystectomy. Various approaches of laparoscopic CBD exploration plus primary duct closure(PDC) are the most commonly used and the best methods to treat CBD stone. This systematic review was to compare the effectiveness and safety of the various approaches of laparoscopic CBD exploration plus PDC for choledocholithiasis.Data sources: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) and non-randomized controlled trials(NRCTs)(casecontrol studies or cohort studies) were searched from Cochrane library(until Issue 2, 2015), Web of Science(1980-January 2016), Pub Med(1966-January 2016), and Baidu search engine. After independent quality assessment and data extraction, meta-analysis was conducted using Rev Man 5.1 software.Results: Four RCTs and 18 NRCTs were included. When compared with choledochotomy exploration(CE) plus T-tube drainage(TTD)(CE + TTD), CE plus PDC(CE + PDC) and CE + PDC with biliary drainage(BD)(CE + PDC + BD) had a lower rate of postoperative biliary peritonitis(OR = 0.22; 95% CI: 0.06, 0.88;P < 0.05; OR = 0.27; 95% CI: 0.08, 0.84; P < 0.05; respectively) where T-tubes were removed more than3 weeks. The operative time of CE + PDC was significantly shorter(WMD =-24.82; 95% CI:-27.48,-22.16; P < 0.01) than that of CE + TTD in RCTs. Cystic duct exploration(CDE) plus PDC(CDE + PDC) has a lower rate of postoperative complications(OR = 0.39; 95% CI: 0.23, 0.67; P < 0.01) when compared with CE + PDC. 7Contrasting trends of PM2.5 and surface-ozone concentrations in China from 2013 to 2017显示文摘Although much attention has been paid to investigating and controlling air pollution in China,the trends of air-pollutant concentrations on a national scale have remained unclear.Here,we quantitatively investigated the variation of air pollutants in China using long-term comprehensive data sets from 2013 to 2017,during which Chinese government made major efforts to reduce anthropogenic emission in polluted regions.Our results show a significant decreasing trend in the PM2.5 concentration in heavily polluted regions of eastern China,with an annual decrease of〜7%compared with measurements in 2013.The measured decreased concentrations of SO2>NO2 and CO(a proxy for anthropogenic volatile organic compounds)could explain a large fraction of the decreased PM2.5 concentrations in different regions.As a consequence;the heavily polluted days decreased significantly in corresponding regions.Concentrations of organic aerosol;nitrate;sulfate,ammonium and chloride measured in urban Beijing revealed a remarkable reduction from 2013 to 2017;connecting the decreases in aerosol precursors with corresponding chemical components closely.However;surface-ozone concentrations showed increasing trends in most urban stations from 2013 to 2017;which indicates stronger photochemical pollution.The boundary-layer height in capital c让ies of eastern China showed no significant trends over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions from 2013 to 2017;which confirmed the reduction in anthropogenic emissions.Our results demonstrated that the Chinese government was successful in the reduction of particulate matter in urban areas from 2013 to 2017,although the ozone concentration has increased significantly;suggesting a more complex mechanism of improving Chinese air quality in the future.Yonghong Wang Wenkang Gao Shuai Wang Tao Song Zhengyu Gong Dongsheng Ji Lili Wang Zirui Liu Guiqian Tang Yanfeng Huo Shili Tian Jiayun Li Mingge Li Yuan Yang Biwu Chu Tuukka Petaja Veli-Matti Kerminen Hong He Jiming Hao Markku Kulmala Yuesi Wang Yuanhang Zhang 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:51

9Prognostic factors of refractory NSCLC patients receiving anlotinib hydrochloride as the third-or further-line treatment显示文摘Objective:Anlotinib hydrochloride is a multitarget tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor,fibroblast growth factor receptor,platelet-derived growth factor receptor,c-Kit,and c-MET;therefore,it exhibits both antitumor and anti-angiogenetic activities.A phase III trial has shown that anlotinib improved progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC),who presented with progressive disease or intolerance after standard chemotherapy.This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of patients receiving anlotinib treatment to determine the dominant populations who are fit for the treatment.Methods:Data were collected from March 2015 to January 2017 from a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled,multicenter,phase III trial of anlotinib(ALTER0303).A total of 437 patients were enrolled and randomly allocated(2:1)to the anlotinib and placebo groups.Kaplan–Meier analysis and log-rank test were performed to compare PFS and OS.Cox proportional hazards model was adopted for multivariate prognostic analysis.Results:Multivariate analysis indicated that high post-therapeutic peripheral blood granulocyte/lymphocyte ratio and elevated alkaline phosphatase levels were independent risk factors for PFS.Meanwhile,elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone,blood glucose,and triglyceride levels;hypertension;and hand–foot syndrome were independent protective factors of PFS.High posttherapeutic peripheral blood granulocyte/lymphocyte ratio,an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)score≥2,and the sum of the maximal target lesion length at baseline were independent risk factors of OS,and hypertriglyceridemia was an independent protective factor of OS.Conclusions:This study preliminarily explored the possible factors that affected PFS and OS after anlotinib treatment in patients with advanced refractory NSCLC,and the baseline characteristics of the therapeutically dominant populations were then identified.Jing Wang Yizhuo Zhao Qiming Wang Li Zhang Jianhua Shi Zhehai Wang Ying Cheng Jianxing He Yuankai Shi Hao Yu Yang Zhao Weiqiang Chen Yi Luo Xiuwen Wang Kejun Nan Faguang Jin Jian Dong Baolan Li Zhujun Liu Baohui Han Kai Li 2018Cancer Biology & Medicine2018,15,4:46

11Neural mechanism of gastric motility regulation by electroacupuncture at RN12 and BL21: A paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus-dorsal vagal complex-vagus nervegastric channel pathway显示文摘AIM: To study the neural mechanism by which electroacupuncture(EA) at RN12(Zhongwan) and BL21(Weishu) regulates gastric motility.METHODS: One hundred and forty-four adult Sprague Dawley rats were studied in four separate experiments. Intragastric pressure was measured using custommade rubber balloons, and extracellular neuron firing activity, which is sensitive to gastric distention in the dorsal vagal complex(DVC), was recorded by an electrophysiological technique. The expression levels of c-fos, motilin(MTL) and gastrin(GAS) in the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus(PVN) were assayed by immunohistochemistry, and the expression levels of motilin receptor(MTL-R) and gastrin receptor(GAS-R) in both the PVN and the gastric antrum were assayed by western blotting.RESULTS: EA at RN12 + BL21(gastric Shu and Mu points), BL21(gastric Back-Shu point), RN12(gastric Front-Mu point), resulted in increased neuron-activating frequency in the DVC(2.08 ± 0.050, 1.17 ± 0.023, 1.55 ± 0.079 vs 0.75 ± 0.046, P < 0.001) compared with a model group. The expression of c-fos(36.24 ± 1.67, 29.41 ± 2.55, 31.79 ± 3.00 vs 5.73 ± 2.18, P < 0.001), MTL(22.48 ± 2.66, 20.76 ± 2.41, 19.17 ± 1.71 vs 11.68 ± 2.52, P < 0.001), GAS(24.99 ± 2.95, 21.69 ± 3.24, 23.03 ± 3.09 vs 12.53 ± 2.15, P < 0.001), MTL-R(1.39 ± 0.05, 1.22 ± 0.05, 1.17 ± 0.12 vs 0.84 ± 0.06, P < 0.001), and GAS-R(1.07 ± 0.07, 0.91 ± 0.06, 0.78 ± 0.05 vs 0.45 ± 0.04, P < 0.001) increased in the PVN after EA compared with the model group. The expression of MTL-R(1.46 ± 0.14, 1.26 ± 0.11, 0.99 ± 0.07 vs 0.65 ± 0.03, P < 0.001), and GAS-R(1.63 ± 0.11, 1.26 ± 0.16, 1.13 ± 0.02 vs 0.80 ± 0.11, P < 0.001) increased in the gastric antrum after EA compared with the model group. Damaging the PVN resulted in reduced intragastric pressure(13.67 ± 3.72 vs 4.27 ± 1.48, P < 0.001). These data demonstrate that the signals induced by EA stimulation of acupoints RN12 and BL21 are detectable in the DVC and the PVN, and increase the levels of gastrointestinal hormones and their receptors in the PVN and gastric antrum to regulate gastric motility. 12HIF-1α induces VE-cadherin expression and modulates vasculogenic mimicry in esophageal carcinoma cells显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether hypoxia inducible factor(HIF)-1αmodulates vasculogenic mimicry(VM)by upregulating VE-cadherin expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).METHODS:Esophageal squamous cancer cell lines Eca109 and TE13 were transfected with plasmids harboring small interfering RNAs targeting HIF-1αor VEcadherin.The proliferation and invasion of esophageal carcinoma cells were detected by MTT and Transwell migration assays.The formation of tubular networks of cells was analyzed by 3D culture in vitro.BALB/c nude mice were used to observe xenograft tumor formation.The relationship between the expression of HIF-1αand VE-cadherin,ephrin A2(Eph A2)and laminin5γ2(LN5γ2)was measured by Western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:Knockdown of HIF-1αinhibited cell proliferation(32.3%±6.1%for Eca109 cells and 38.6%±6.8%for TE13 cells,P<0.05).Both Eca109 and TE13cells formed typical tubular networks.The number of tubular networks markedly decreased when HIF-1αor VE-cadherin was knocked down.Expression of VEcadherin,Eph A2 and LN5γ2 was dramatically inhibited,but the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2 had no obvious change in HIF-1α-silenced cells.Knockdown of VE-cadherin significantly decreased expression of both Eph A2 and LN5γ2(P<0.05),while HIF-1αexpression was unchanged.The time for xenograft tumor formation was 6±1.2 d for Eca109 cells and Eca109cells transfected with HIF-1αNeo control short hairpin RNA(sh RNA)vector,and 8.4±2.1 d for Eca109 cells transfected with an sh RNA against HIF-1α.Knockdown of HIF-1αinhibited vasculogenic mimicry(VM)and tumorigenicity in vivo.CONCLUSION:HIF-1αmay modulate VM in ESCC by regulating VE-cadherin expression,which affects VM formation through Eph A2 and LN5γ2.Na-Na Tang Hong Zhu Hong-Jie Zhang Wei-Feng Zhang Hai-Lin Jin Lu Wang Pin Wang Gui-Jun He Bo Hao Rui-Hua Shi 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:25

14Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas.Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu 2019National Science Review2019,6,3:24

19Mechanisms and assessment of water eutrophication显示文摘Water eutrophication has become a worldwide environmental problem in recent years,and understanding the mechanisms of water eutrophication will help for prevention and remediation of water eutrophication.In this paper,recent advances in current status and major mechanisms of water eutrophication,assessment and evaluation criteria,and the influencing factors were reviewed.Water eutrophication in lakes,reservoirs,estuaries and rivers is widespread all over the world and the severity is increasing,especially in the developing countries like China.The assessment of water eutrophication has been advanced from simple individual parameters like total phosphorus,total nitrogen,etc.,to comprehensive indexes like total nutrient status index.The major influencing factors on water eutrophication include nutrient enrichment,hydrodynamics,environmental factors such as temperature,salinity,carbon dioxide,element balance,etc.,and microbial and biodiversity.The occurrence of water eutrophication is actually a complex function of all the possible influencing factors.The mechanisms of algal blooming are not fully understood and need to be further investigated.Xiao-e YANGt Xiang WU Hu-lin HAO Zhen-li HE 2008Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2008,9,3:21
20Efficacy and Safety of Quxie Capsule(祛邪胶囊) in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer:A Double-Blind Randomized Placebo Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective:To verify the efficacy and safety of Quxie Capsule(祛邪胶囊) in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mC RC).Methods:The present study was a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial.Sixty patients with mC RC were randomized into two groups at a 1:1 ratio by sealed envelope.The treatment group received conventional therapy combined with Quxie Capsule for 3 months.The control group was treated with conventional therapy combined with placebo for 3 months.Main outcome measures were overall survival(OS) and progression-free survival(PFS).Subgroup analysis was performed according to age,right or left-sided disease,and second-line therapy to determine the differences in PFS and OS between the two groups.Patients were followed up every 3 months until Dec 31 st 2016.Results:The median OS was 23 months in the treatment group [95% confidence interval(CI):15–not calculated] vs.14 months in the control group(95% CI:11–22,P=0.060).The OS of the treatment group tended to be longer than that of the control group(P>0.05).In the subgroups of patients <65 years old,left-sided colon,and 2 nd-line therapy,the treatment group showed a significant survival benefit compared with the control group(P=0.006,0.038,0.013,respectively).There were no significant differences between the two groups in PFS(P>0.05).Safety analysis showed no severe hematological toxicity or liver and renal function injury in the treatment group.Conclusions:Quxie Capsule showed good safety and efficacy,and could prolong the OS of patients with mC RC.ZHANG Tong YANG Yu-fei HE Bin YI Dan-hui HAO Jie ZHANG Da 2018Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2018,24,3:20
