1Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Al/Mg Alloy Multilayered Composites Produced by Accumulative Roll Bonding显示文摘Al/Mg alloy multilayered composites were produced successfully at the lower temperature(280 C) by accumulative roll bonding(ARB) processing technique.The microstructures of Al and Mg alloy layers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.Vickers hardness and three-point bending tests were conducted to investigate mechanical properties of the composites.It is found that Vickers hardness,bending strength and stiffness modulus of the Al/Mg alloy multilayered composite increase with increasing the ARB pass.Delamination and crack propagation along the interface are the two main failure modes of the multilayered composite subjected to bending load.Strengthening and fracture mechanisms of the composite are analyzed.H.S. 2LASER CLADDED TiCN COATINGS ON THE SURFACE OF TITANIUM显示文摘Laser cladded coatings of TiCN were produced on the surface of titanium. To obtain the optimal techniques, several conditions were tested by varying the laser scanning rate. The choice of shielding gas was also studied. The cladded coatings were then evaluated from the surface mechanics point of view based on their microhardness. The microstructure of some interesting samples was investigated by optical micrographs (OM). The results showed that under the condition of fixed pulse frequency and pulse width, the laser scanning rate and the shielding gas are the main factors influencing the components of coatings. TiCN coatings were decompounded and oxidized during the cladding process in the condition of no shielding gas of N2. X-ray diffraction results indicated that the composite coatings composed of TiCN, TiC, Ti2N, and TiO2 were produced using appropriate techniques. The results indicated that the best condition in terms of the surface microhardness is obtained when the scanning rate is 1.5mm / s, the pulse frequency is 15Hz, the pulse width is 3.0ms, and N2 is chosen as the shielding gas. The microhardness of the composite coatings is about 1331kg · mm - 2, which is about 4 times that of the substrate. The optical micrographs indicated that the cladding zone is made up of TiCN, TiO2, and some interdendritic Ti, but the diffusion zone mainly consists of the dendrites phase, and the cladded depth is about 80m, which is more than 2 times that of the laser nitrided sample. 3Microstructures and mechanical properties of Ti3Al/Ni-based superalloy joints brazed with AuNi filler metal显示文摘For the purpose of high-temperature service and the weight reduction in aviation engineering applications, the dissimilar joining of Ti3Al-based alloy to Ni-based superalloy (GH536) was conducted using Au-17.5Ni (wt%) brazing filler metal. The microstructure and chemical composition at the interfaces were investigated by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. The diffusion behaviors of elements were analyzed as well. The results indicated that the Ti3Al/GH536 joint microstructure was characterized by multiple layer structures. Element Ni from Au-Ni filler metal reacted with Ti3Al base metal, leading to the formation of AlNi2Ti and NiTi compounds. Element Ni from Ti3Al base metal reacted with Ni and thus Ni3Nb phase was detected in the joint central area. Due to the dissolution of Ni-based superalloy,(Ni,Au) solid solution ((Ni,Au)ss) and Ni-rich phase were visible adjacent to the superalloy side. The average tensile strength of all the joints brazed at 1253 K for 5-20 min was above 356 MPa at room-temperature. In particular, the joints brazed at 1253 K/15 min presented the maximum tensile strength of434 MPa at room-temperature, and the strength of 314 MPa was maintained at 923 K. 4Variation among poplar clones for growth and crown traits under field conditions at two sites of North-western India显示文摘We evaluated the growth and crown traits of 36 poplar clones at two distinct agro-climatic regions of Punjab (Ludhiana and Bathinda) in northwestern India, following randomized block design with three replications and plot size of four trees. Significant differences among clones (p<0.001) were observed for diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height, volume, crown width and number of branches under both the site conditions. Clones 'G-3', '25-N' and '41-N' at Ludhiana and 'G-3', 'RD-01' and 'S 7 C 8 ' at Bathinda were found to be superior for volume production. All growth and crown traits registered significantly higher values at Ludhiana in comparison to those at Bathinda. Clone × site interaction was also significant (p<0.001). For volume, clones 'L-62/84', '113520', '25-N' and 'S 4 C 2 ' witnessed huge fluctuations in ranking between sites. The correlations between growth traits were positive and highly significant (p<0.001) at both sites. The clonal mean heritability was moderate for DBH and volume both at Ludhiana (0.61 0.66) and Bathinda (0.61 0.62). 6SIMULATION OF THE TWIN ROLL STAINLESS STRIP CASTING PROCESS显示文摘The position of the solidification completed temperature of twin roll stainless strip casting process is very important to the quality of the casting strip. In order to control this position, the .solidification completed temperature should be known at first. The present paper first. simulated dendritic microsegregation under conditions of twin roll stainless strip casting, and got the relationship between the temperature and solid fraction of the mush zone. The temperatures such as ZDT (equal to the solidifica- tion completed temperature and LIT (liquid impenetrable temperature), et al., also were obtained. Then by using the turbulent model, the flow and thermal fields of the pool of the twin roll stainless strip casting, and the speed and temperature fields oj different casting speeds were given cud also explained. 9First-principles Calculation Assisted Thermodynamic Modeling of Ti-Co-Cu Ternary System显示文摘Thermodynamic assessment of Ti-Co-Cu ternary system has been carried out by combining first-principle calculation and CALPHAD method. Firstly, formation enthalpies of stable and hypothesized compounds were calculated by first-principles method. Then, based on reported experimental information, a thermodynamic description of the Ti-Co-Cu ternary system was performed. Solution phases were treated as substitutional solutions of which excess Gibbs energies were formulated by Redlich-Kister polynomial, and the intermediate phases were described with sublattice models. All measured isothermal sections were reasonably reproduced. In addition, liquidus projection of this ternary system was further calculated, which may be useful for relevant materials processing.Y.J.
