Comparative study of laparoscopic vs open gastrectomy in gastric cancer management显示文摘AIM:To compare long-term results of gastric cancer patients undergoing laparoscopic and open gastrec-tomy in a single unit.METHODS:From February 2000 to September 2004,all patients with adenocarcinoma of the stomach were assessed to entry in this longitudinal prospective non-randomized trial.Primary endpoint was cancer-related survival and secondary endpoints were overall survival, evaluation of surgical complications and mortality.RESULTS:Fifty-eight patients were enrolled.Forty-seven patients were followed-up(range 11-103,me-dian 38 mo).Four patients were lost at follow up.Twenty-two patients underwent a laparoscopic gastric surgery(LGS)and 25 had a standard open procedure(OGS).No statistical difference was found between the two groups in terms of 5 years cancer-related mortality rate(50% vs 52%,P = 1),and 5 years overall mortal-ity rate(54.5% vs 56%,P = 1).Accordingly,cancer-related and overall survival probability by Kaplan-Meier method showed comparable results(P = 0.81 and P = 0.83,respectively).We found no differences in surgical complications in the 2 groups. There was no conversion to open surgery in this series.CONCLUSION:LGS is as effective as OGS in the man-agement of advanced gastric cancer. However LGS can-not be recommended routinely over OGS for the treat-ment of advanced gastric cancer.Giuseppe S Sica Edoardo Iaculli Livia Biancone Sara Di Carlo Rosa Scaramuzzo Cristina Fiorani Paolo Gentileschi Achille L Gas-pari 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,41:9
Clinical-pathological and molecular characterization of long-term survivors with advanced non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective:Long-term survivors(LS)of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)without driver alterations, displaying an overall survival(OS)of more than 3 years, comprise around 10%of cases in several series treated with chemotherapy. There are classical prognosis factors for these cases[stage,Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG),etc.],but more data are required in the literature. In this multi-center study,we focused on LS of advanced NSCLC with OS above 36 months to perform a clinical-pathological and molecular characterization. Methods:In the first step,we conducted a clinical-pathological characterization of the patients.Afterwards,we carried out a genetic analysis by comparing LS to a sample of short-term survivors(SS)(with an OS less than 9 months). We initially used whole-genome RNA-seq to identify differentiating profiles of LS and SS,and later confirmed these with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)for the rest of the samples. Results:A total of 94 patients were included, who were mainly men, former smokers, having adenocarcinoma(AC)-type NSCLC with an ECOG of 0-1.We obtained an initial differential transcriptome expression, displaying 5 over-and 33 under-expressed genes involved in different pathways:namely, the secretin receptor, surfactant protein, trefoil factor 1(T FF1),serpin,Ca-channels,and Tolllike receptor(TLRs)families.Finally,RT-PCR analysis of 40(20 LS/20 SS)samples confirmed that four genes(surfactant proteins and SFTP)were significantly down-regulated in SS compared to LS by using an analysis of covariance(ANCOVA)model:SFTPA1(P=0.023),SFTPA2(P=0.027),SFTPB{P=0.02),and SFT PC(P=0.047).Conclusions:We present a sequential genetic analysis of a sample of NSCLCLS with no driver alterations, obtaining a differential RNA-seq/RT-PCR profile showing an abnormal expression of SF genes.Juan Moreno-Rubio Santiago Ponce Rosa Alvarez Maria Eugenia Olmedo Sandra Falagan Xabier Mielgo Fatima Navarro Patricia Cruz Luis Cabezon-Gutierrez Carlos Aguado Gonzalo Colmenarejo Marta Munoz-Fernandez de Leglaria Ana Belen Enguita Maria Cebollero Amparo Benito Isabel Alemany Carolina del Castillo Ricardo Ramos Ana Ramirez de Molina Enrique Casado Maria Sereno 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,2:4
Solid lipid nanoparticles delivering anti-inflammatory drugs to treat inflammatory bowel disease: Effects in an in vivo model显示文摘AIM To improve anti-inflammatory activity while reducing drug doses, we developed a nanoformulation carrying dexamethasone and butyrate.METHODS Dexamethasone cholesteryl butyrate-solid lipid nanoparticles(Dx Cb-SLN) were obtained with the warm microemulsion method. The anti-inflammatory activity of this novel nanoformulation has been investigated in vitro(cell adhesion to human vascular endothelial cells and pro-inflammatory cytokine release by lipopolysaccharideinduced polymorphonuclear cells) and in vivo(disease activity index and cytokine plasma concentrations in a dextran sulfate sodium-induced mouse colitis) models. Each drug was also administered separately to compare its effects with those induced by their co-administration in SLN at the same concentrations.RESULTS Dx Cb-SLN at the lowest concentration tested(Dx 2.5 nmol/L and Cb 0.1 μmol/L) were able to exert a more than additive effect compared to the sum of the individual effects of each drug, inducing a significant in vitro inhibition of cell adhesion and a significant decrease of pro-inflammatory cytokine(IL-1β and TNF-α) in both in vitro and in vivo models. Notably, only the Dx Cb nanoformulation administration was able to achieve a significant cytokine decrease compared to the cytokine plasma concentration of the untreated mice with dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis. Specifically, Dx Cb-SLN induced a IL-1β plasma concentration of 61.77% ± 3.19%, whereas Dx or Cb used separately induced a concentration of 90.0% ± 2.8% and 91.40% ± 7.5%, respectively; Dx Cb-SLN induced a TNF-α plasma concentration of 30.8% ± 8.9%, whereas Dx or Cb used separately induced ones of 99.5% ± 4.9% and 71.1% ± 10.9%, respectively.CONCLUSION Our results indicate that the co-administration of dexamethasone and butyrate by nanoparticles may be beneficial for inflammatory bowel disease treatment.Chiara Dianzani Federica Foglietta Benedetta Ferrara Arianna Carolina Rosa Elisabetta Muntoni Paolo Gasco Carlo Della Pepa Roberto Canaparo Loredana Serpe 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,23:3

Dendritic cell deficiencies persist seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection显示文摘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus(SARS-CoV)-2 infection induces an exacerbated inflammation driven by innate immunity components.Dendritic cells(DCs)play a key role in the defense against viral infections, for instance plasmacytoid DCs(pDCs),have the capacity to produce vast amounts of interferon-alpha(IFN-α).In COVID-19 there is a deficit in DC numbers and IFN-αproduction,which has been associated with disease severity. In this work,we described that in addition to the DC deficiency, several DC activation and homing markers were altered in acute COVID-19 patients, which were associated with multiple inflammatory markers.Remarkably, previously hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients remained with decreased numbers of CD1c+myeloid DCs and pDCs seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Moreover, the expression of DC markers such as CD86 and CD4 were only restored in previously nonhospitalized patients, while no restoration of integrinβ7 and indoleamine 2,3-dyoxigenase(IDO)levels were observed. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the immunological sequelae of COVID-19.Alberto Pérez-Gómez Joana Vitallé Carmen Gasca-Capote Alicia Gutierrez-Valencia María Trujillo-Rodriguez Ana Serna-Gallego Esperanza Muñoz-Muela María de los Reyes Jiménez-Leon Mohamed Rafii-El-Idrissi Benhnia Inmaculada Rivas-Jeremias Cesar Sotomayor Cristina Roca-Oporto Nuria Espinosa Carmen Infante-Domínguez Juan Carlos Crespo-Rivas Alberto Fernández-Villar Alexandre Pérez-González Luis Fernando López-Cortés Eva Poveda Ezequiel Ruiz-Mateos JoséMiguel Cisneros Sonsoles Salto-Alejandre Judith Berastegui-Cabrera Pedro Camacho-Martínez Carmen Infante-Domínguez Marta Carretero-Ledesma Juan Carlos Crespo-Rivas Eduardo Márquez JoséManuel Lomas Claudio Bueno Rosario Amaya JoséAntonio Lepe Jerónimo Pachón Elisa Cordero Javier Sánchez-Céspedes Manuela Aguilar-Guisado Almudena Aguilera Clara Aguilera Teresa Aldabo-Pallas Verónica Alfaro-Lara Cristina Amodeo Javier Ampuero María Dolores Avilés Maribel Asensio Bosco Barón-Franco Lydia Barrera-Pulido Rafael Bellido-Alba Máximo Bernabeu-Wittel Candela Caballero-Eraso Macarena Cabrera Enrique Calderón Jesús Carbajal-Guerrero Manuela Cid-Cumplido Yael Corcia-Palomo Juan Delgado Antonio Domínguez-Petit Alejandro Deniz Reginal Dusseck-Brutus Ana Escoresca-Ortega Fátima Espinosa Nuria Espinosa Michelle Espinoza Carmen Ferrándiz-Millón Marta Ferrer Teresa Ferrer Ignacio Gallego-Texeira Rosa Gámez-Mancera Emilio García Horacio García-Delgado Manuel García-Gutiérrez María Luisa Gascón-Castillo Aurora González-Estrada Demetrio González Carmen Gómez-González Rocío González-León Carmen Grande-Cabrerizo Sonia Gutiérrez Carlos Hernández-Quiles Inmaculada Concepción Herrera-Melero Marta Herrero-Romero Luis Jara Carlos Jiménez-Juan Silvia Jiménez-Jorge Mercedes Jiménez-Sánchez Julia Lanseros-Tenllado Carmina López Isabel López Álvaro López-Barrios Luis F.López-Cortés Rafael Luque-Márquez Daniel Macías-García Guillermo Martín-Gutiérrez Luis Martín-Villén JoséMolina Aurora Morillo María Dolores Navarro-Amuedo Dolores Nieto-Martín Francisco Ortega María Paniagua-García Amelia Peña-Rodríguez Esther Pérez Manuel Poyato Julia Praena-Segovia Rafaela Ríos Cristina Roca-Oporto Jesús F.Rodríguez María Jesús Rodríguez-Hernández Santiago Rodríguez-Suárez Ángel Rodríguez-Villodres Nieves Romero-Rodríguez Ricardo Ruiz Zida Ruiz de Azua Celia Salamanca Sonia Sánchez Víctor Manuel Sánchez-Montagut César Sotomayor Alejandro Suárez Benjumea Javier Toral 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:2

Glutamate dehydrogenase and Na^+-K^+ ATPase expression and growth response of Litopenaeus vannamei to different salinities and dietary protein levels显示文摘Improvement in the osmoregulation capacity via nutritional supplies is vitally important in shrimp aquaculture. The effects of dietary protein levels on the osmoregulation capacity of the Pacific white shrimp(L.vannamei) were investigated. This involved an examination of growth performance, glutamate dehydrogenase(GDH) and Na+-K+ ATPase mRNA expression,,and GDH activity in muscles and gills.Three experimental diets were formulated, containing 25%,40%,and 50% dietary protein, and fed to the shrimp at a salinity of 25.After 20 days,no significant difference was observed in weight gain, though GDH and Na+-K+ ATPase gene expression and GDH activity increased with higher dietary protein levels.Subsequently, shrimp fed diets with 25% and 50% dietary protein were transferred into tanks with salinities of 38 and 5,respectively,and sampled at weeks 1 and 2.Shrimp fed with 40% protein at 25 in salinity(optimal conditions) were used as a control.Regardless of the salinities, shrimp fed with 50% dietary protein had significantly higher growth performance than other diets;no significant differences were found in comparison with the control.Shrimp fed with 25% dietary protein and maintained at salinities of 38 and 5 had significantly lower weight gain values after 2 weeks.Ambient salinity change also stimulated the hepatosomatic index, which increased in the first week and then recovered to a relatively normal level,as in the control, after 2 weeks. These findings indicate that in white shrimp, the specific protein nutrient and energy demands related to ambient salinity change are associated with protein metabolism.Increased dietary protein level could improve the osmoregulation capacity of L.vannamei with more energy resources allocated to GDH activity and expression.李二超 Leticia ARENA Gabriel LIZAMA Gabriela GAXIOLA Gerard CUZON Carlos ROSAS 陈立侨 Alain VAN WORMHOUDT 2011Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2011,29,2:2

Single droplet drying of detergents:Experimentation and modelling显示文摘This study evaluates the single droplet drying(SDD)of detergents.Experimental data are used to validate a theoretical multistage model. The experiments are carried out in an acoustic levitator analysing six different detergent formulations at 393 K.The work is completed by developing a model based on conservation equations. The model is composed of the three stages observed in the drying curve. In the first stage,an external surface drying stage occurs until the surface is saturated and the crust is formed. In the next stage, the drying rate is governed by diffusion through the pores. At the same time, the particle heats up until boiling conditions are achieved in the core of the particle. At this point, the third stage begins. In the final stage, the droplet core is in boiling conditions which are governed by the pressure drop through the crust and the concentration of salts. This model has been evaluated for the different formulations being flexible to predict the drying of different mixtures with good accuracy.Borja Hernandez Rosa Mondragon Mark A.Pintoa Leonor Hernandez J.Enrique Julia Juan Carlos Jarque Sergio Chiva Mariano Martin 2021Particuology2021,19,5:2
