41,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 protects obese rats from metabolic syndrome via promoting regulatory T cell-mediated resolution of inflammation显示文摘Vitamin D_3 has been found to produce therapeutic effects on obesity-associated insulin resistance and dyslipidemia through its potent anti-inflammatory activity, but the precise immunomodulatory mechanism remains poorly understood. In the present study we found that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_3[1,25(OH)_2D_3], the biologically active form of vitamin D_3, significantly attenuated monosodium glutamate(MSG)-induced obesity and insulin resistance as indicated by body weight reduction, oral glucose tolerance improvement, and a glucose infusion rate increase as detected with hyperinsulinemiceuglycemic clamp. Moreover, 1,25(OH)_2D_3 not only restored pancreatic islet functions but also improved lipid metabolism in insulin-targeted tissues. The protective effects of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 on glycolipid metabolism were attributed to its ability to inhibit an obesity-activated inflammatory response in insulin secretory and targeted tissues, as indicated by reduced infiltration of macrophages in pancreas islets and adipose tissue while enhancing the expression of Tgf-β1 in liver tissue, which was accompanied byincreased infiltration of Treg cells in immune organs such as spleen and lymph node as well as in insulintargeted tissues such as liver, adipose, and muscle. 5Systematic optimization of the yeast cell factory for sustainable and high efficiency production of bioactive ginsenoside compound K显示文摘Ginsenoside Compound K(CK)has been recognized as a major functional component that is absorbed into the systemic circulation after oral administration of ginseng.CK demonstrates diverse bioactivities.A phase I clinical study indicated that CK was a potential candidate for arthritis therapy.However,a phase II clinical study was suspended because of the high cost associated with the present CK manufacturing approach,which is based on the traditional planting-extracting-biotransforming process.We previously elucidated the complete CK biosynthetic pathway and realized for the first time de novo biosynthesis of CK from glucose by engineered yeast.However,CK production was not sufficient for industrial application.Here,we systematically engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae to achieve high titer production of CK from glucose using a previously constructed protopanaxadiol(PPD)-producing chassis,optimizing UGTPg1 expression,improving UDP-glucose biosynthesis,and tuning down UDP-glucose consumption.Our final engineered yeast strain produced CK with a titer of 5.74 g/L in fed-batch fermentation,which represents the highest CK production in microbes reported to date.Once scaled-up,this high titer de novo microbial biosynthesis platform will enable a robust and stable supply of CK,thus facilitating study and medical application of CK.Pingping Wang Jiali Wang Guoping Zhao Xing Yan Zhihua Zhou 2021Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,2:7
6Effect of monovalent anions on cationic Gemini micro-emulsion显示文摘Micro-emulsion usually consists of water, oil, surfactants and co-surfactants, and each component has an effect on the phase behavior and solubilization of the micro-emulsion. When the surfactant in the micro-emulsion system is quaternary ammonium cationic Gemini surfactant, the surfactant mainly combines with the anions in the salt. With the increase of salt concentration, the phase transformation of Winsor I → Winsor III → Winsor II occurred, but the optimum salinity and salt width are different because of the type of salt. The effects of 5 different kinds of monovalent anions, including C_6H_5SO_3^-, I-, Br-, NO_3^- and Cl-, on the phase behavior and solubilization of quaternary ammonium cationic Gemini micro-emulsion are researched by Winsor phase diagram. It is found that the effects of organic anions C_6H_5SO_3-and I-on the phase behavior and solubilization of quaternary ammonium cationic Gemini micro-emulsion are most significant, and the effects of Br-, NO_3^- and Cl-are less significant. 7Powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials for space applications显示文摘Owing to the increasing demand for tribological brakes for space applications, the development of novel materials and advanced technologies is necessary. This paper presents the design, characterization, and realization of powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials intended for the above-mentioned tribological brakes. Selecting appropriate ingredients, which provides an effective way to tailor the properties of the friction material, is evolving as a strategy to meet the design requirements. The tribological behaviors of the friction material are experimentally investigated under different conditions, and special attention is focused on the vacuum tribology. Examinations and analyses of the friction surface and subsurface corroborate the wear mechanism. In addition, the erosion resistances of the friction material are evaluated by exposure tests of ultraviolet irradiation and atomic oxygen. 10High proportion strontium-doped micro-arc oxidation coatings enhance early osseointegration of titanium in osteoporosis by anti-oxidative stress pathway显示文摘The excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)under osteoporosis precipitates a microenvironment with high levels of oxidative stress(OS).This could significantly interfere with the bioactivity of conventional titanium implants,impeding their early osseointegration with bone.We have prepared a series of strontium(Sr)-doped titanium implants via micro-arc oxidation(MAO)to verify their efficacy and differences in osteoinduction capabilities under normal and osteoporotic(high OS levels)conditions.Apart from the chemical composition,all groups exhibited similar physicochemical properties(morphology,roughness,crystal structure,and wettability).Among the groups,the low Sr group(Sr25%)was more conducive to osteogenesis under normal conditions.In contrast,by increasing the catalase(CAT)/superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity and decreasing ROS levels,the high Sr-doped samples(Sr75% and Sr100%)were superior to Sr25% in inducing osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells and the M2 phenotype polarization of RAW264.7 cells,thus enhancing early osseointegration.Furthermore,the results of both in vitro cell co-culture and in vivo studies also showed that the high Sr-doped samples(especially Sr100%)had positive effects on osteoimmunomodulation under the OS microenvironment.Ultimately,the collated findings indicated that the high proportion Sr-doped MAO coatings were more favorable for osteoporosis patients in implant restorations.Xinkun Shen Kai Fang Kendrick Hii Ru Yie Zixin Zhou Yiding Shen Shuyi Wu Yue Zhu Zhennan Deng Pingping Ma Jianfeng Ma Jinsong Liu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:2

12Data communication mechanism for greenhouse environment monitoring and control:An agent-based IoT system显示文摘Internet of things(IoT)technology has been constantly applied in greenhouse environmental monitoring and control in recent years.The acquisition and control parameters,network protocols are different for the various purposes of the greenhouse.These factors are the keys to the abilities to effectively communicate and transfer meaningful data in IoT infrastructures.To achieve the adaptive matching of data communication between the gateway and server in a greenhouse IoT system,a data encapsulation method based on XML was designed to enable data interoperability in a distributed greenhouse IoT system.Furthermore,the behaviour of the Multi-Agent System(MAS)was used to merge the heterogeneous information and the responses for data synchronization in the greenhouse IoT system.The data communication mechanism for real-time and cumulative data synchronization between the gateway and server based on JADE was tested in a specific greenhouse.The results showed that the data loss rate between the data acquisition unit and the gateway was 1.52%,and the data loss rate was 0.4%between the gateway and the server;therefore,the mechanism could be feasibly applied to the data communication for a greenhouse IoT system.Jizhang Wang Meizheng Chen Jinsheng Zhou Pingping Li 2020Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,3:1
13Synthesis,structure and nonlinear optical properties of two novel two-photon absorption chromophores显示文摘Two triphenylamine-based derivatives that can be used as two-photon absorption chromophore,tris{4-[4-(3-trifluoromethyl-3-oxopanoyl)]phenyl}amine (1) and tris{4-[4-(3-phenyl-3-oxopanoyl)] phenyl} amine (2) were successfully synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis,IR,1H NMR and MS. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the molecules possess D-(π-A)3 structures. One-and two-photon absorption and fluorescence in various solvents were experimentally investigated.
