1The Arabidopsis catalase triple mutant reveals important roles of catalases and peroxisome-derived signaling in plant development显示文摘Hydrogen peroxide(H_2O_2)is generated in many metabolic processes.As a signaling molecule,H_2O_2plays important roles in plant growth and development,as well as environmental stress response.In Arabidopsis,there are three catalase genes,CAT1,CAT2,and CAT3.The encoded catalases are predominately peroxisomal proteins and are critical for scavenging H_2O_2.Since CAT1 and CAT3 are linked on chromosome 1,it has been almost impossible to generate cat1/3 and cat1/2/3 mutants by traditional genetic tools.In this study,we constructed cat1/3 double mutants and cat1/2/3 triple mutants by CRISPR/Cas9 to investigate the role of catalases.The cat1/2/3 triple mutants displayed severe redox disturbance and growth defects under physiological conditions compared with wild-type and the cat2/3 double mutants.Transcriptome analysis showed a more profound transcriptional response in the cat1/2/3 triple mutants compared to the cat2/3 mutants.These differentially expressed genes are involved in plant growth regulation as well as abiotic and biotic stress responses.In addition,expression of OXI1(OXIDATIVE SIGNAL INDUCIBLE 1)and several MAPK cascade genes were changed dramatically in the catalase triple mutant,suggesting that H_2O_2produced in peroxisomes could serve as a peroxisomal retrograde signal.Tong Su Pingping Wang Huijuan Li Yiwu Zhao Yao Lu Peng Dai Tianqi Ren Xiaofeng Wang Xuezhi Li Qun Shao Dazhong Zhao Yanxiu Zhao Changle Ma 2018Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,7:3
2Au-catalysed free-standing wurtzite structured InAs nanosheets grown by molecular beam epitaxy显示文摘In this study,we report the growth of free-standing InAs nanosheets using Au catalysts in molecular beam epitaxy.Detailed structural characterizations suggest that wurtzite structured InAs nanosheets,with features of extensive{1120}surfaces,grown along the<1102>direction and adopted{0001}nanosheet/catalyst interfaces,are initiated from wurtzite structured[0001]nanowires as the inclined epitaxial growth due to relatively higher In concentrations in Au catalysts,and grown from these inclined nanostructures through catalyst-induced axial growth and their enhanced lateral growth under the high growth temperature.Based on the facts that the nanosheets contain large low energy{1120}surfaces and{0001}nanosheet/catalyst interfaces,the growth of our nanosheets is a thermodynamically driven process.This study provides new insights into fabricating free-standing Ⅲ-Ⅴ nanosheets for their applications in future nanoscale devices.Qiang Sun Han Gao Xiaomei Yao Kun Zheng Pingping Chen Wei Lu Jin Zou 2019Nano Research2019,12,11:2
3Powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials for space applications显示文摘Owing to the increasing demand for tribological brakes for space applications, the development of novel materials and advanced technologies is necessary. This paper presents the design, characterization, and realization of powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials intended for the above-mentioned tribological brakes. Selecting appropriate ingredients, which provides an effective way to tailor the properties of the friction material, is evolving as a strategy to meet the design requirements. The tribological behaviors of the friction material are experimentally investigated under different conditions, and special attention is focused on the vacuum tribology. Examinations and analyses of the friction surface and subsurface corroborate the wear mechanism. In addition, the erosion resistances of the friction material are evaluated by exposure tests of ultraviolet irradiation and atomic oxygen. 11Genetic Analysis of Grain Yield in a 7×7 Diallel Cross F_2 Population of Wheat(T.Aestivum L.)显示文摘In order to obtain genetic information for grain yield, seven genetically diverse wheat cultivars were crossed in an incomplete diallel to study the inheritance of grain yield using F_2 progenies for two years. Significant differences were observed among genotype, year and genotype × year interaction for grain yield, and both general combining ability(GCA) and specific combining ability(SCA) were also highly significant for grain yield, suggesting that the trait was controlled by both additive and non-additive effect. The GCA estimates revealed that the best combiners for grain yield were Yangmai 5 and Ningmai 9. Adequacy tests revealed that data of grain yield was fully adequate for genetic interpretation. Over-dominance genetic effects were important for the expression of grain yield. 12Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND 13Elimination of an unfavorable allele conferring pod shattering in an elite soybean cultivar by CRISPR/Cas9显示文摘Pod shattering can lead to devastating yield loss of soybean and has been a negatively selected trait in soybean domestication and breeding.Nevertheless,a significant portion of soybean cultivars are still pod shattering-susceptible,limiting their regional and climatic adaptabilities.Here we performed genetic diagnosis on the shattering-susceptible trait of a national registered cultivar,Huachun6(HC6),and found that HC6 carries the susceptible genotype of a candidate Pod dehiscence 1(PDH1)gene,which exists in a significant portion of soybean cultivars.We next performed genome editing on PDH1 gene by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)-CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9).In T2 progenies,several transgene-free lines with pdh1 mutations were characterized without affecting major agronomic traits.The pdh1 mutation significantly improved the pod shattering resistance which is associated with aberrant lignin distribution in inner sclerenchyma.Our work demonstrated that precision breeding by genome editing on PDH1 holds great potential for precisely improving pod shattering resistance and adaptability of soybean cultivars.Zhihui Zhang Jie Wang Huaqin Kuang Zhihong Hou Pingping Gong Mengyan Bai Shaodong Zhou Xiaolei Yao Shikui Song Long Yan Yuefeng Guan 2022aBIOTECH2022,3,2:0

15High performance flexible energy storage device based on copper foam supported NiMoO4 nanosheets-CNTs-CuO nanowires composites with core–shell holey nanostructure显示文摘Because of the intensified electrochemical activities,mixed metal oxides as a representative for pseudocapacitive materials play a key role for high performance supercapacitor electrodes.Nevertheless,low ion and electron transfer rate and poor cycling performance in the electrode practically restrict further promotion of their electrochemical performance.In order to offset the defect,a novel copper(Cu)foamsupported nickel molybdate nanosheet decorated carbon nanotube wrapped copper oxide nanowire array(NiMoO4 NSs-CNTs-CuO NWAs/Cu foam)flexible electrode is constructed.The as-prepared electrode demonstrates a unique core-shell holey nanostructure with a large active surface area,which can provide a large number of active sites for redox reactions.Besides,the CNTs networks supply improved conductivity,which can hasten electron transport.Through this simple and efficient design method,the spatial distribution of each component in the flexible electrode is more orderly,short and fast electron transport path with low intrinsic resistance.As a result,the NiMoO4 NSs-CNTs-CuO NWAs/Cu foam as an adhesiveless supercapacitor electrode material exhibits excellent ene rgy storage perfo rmance with high specific areal capacitance of 23.40 F cm^(-2)at a current density of 2 mA cm^(-2),which outperforms most of the flexible electrodes re ported recently.The assembled asymmetric supercapacitor demonstrates an energy density up to 96.40 mW h cm^(-3)and a power density up to 0.4 W cm^(-3)under a working voltage window of 1.7 V.In addition,outstanding flexibility of up to 100°bend and good cycling stability with the capacitance retention of 82.53%after 10,000 cycles can be obtained.Pingping Yao Chenyang Li Jiali Yu Shuo Zhang Meng Zhang Huichao Liu Muwei Ji Guangtao Cong Tao Zhang Caizhen Zhu Jian Xu 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,26:0
16Photoconductive study and carrier dynamics of vertically aligned GaAs nanowires显示文摘Single wire devices are generally fabricated to study the electrical and photoelectric behaviors of semiconductor nanowires(NWs);however detriment or contamination can hardly be avoided during manipulation of NWs under focused ion and electron beams.This could not be a trivial factor for III-V NWs which are candidates for high efficiency solar energy harvesting and sensitive photodetection.In this study an alternative way to probe the photoconductive property of individual epitaxial GaAs NWs is presented.For the sample preparation,a uniform spin-coated layer of polymer was selected to be the supporting medium for the vertically aligned NWs structure;then the adequate thinning and polishing of the sample exposed the NW tip and also achieved the required height of NW.An external power adjustable laser was introduced as the excitation source,and the dark and photoconductive currentvoltage properties of individual NW were measured by the conductive atomic force microscopy.The typical Schottky style photoconductive behavior was observed in the vertically aligned GaAs NW,and its photoresponsivity has been found to be much higher than that of the reported for single NW photodetector.Finally,a numerical model based on the experimental setup was established to simulate the photoelectric behavior of individual NW.The minority hole lifetime has been found to dominate the photoconductive current-voltage properties of NW under the positive sample bias,and can be derived from the quantitative fitting of experimental photo-IV curves.Hui Xia Bimu Yao Zhenyu Lu Pingping Chen Tianxin Li 2013Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2013,23,1:0

18Significant tipping points of sediment microeukaryotes forewarn increasing antibiotic pollution显示文摘Antibiotic pollution imposes urgent threats to public health and microbial-mediated ecological processes.Existing studies have primarily focused on bacterial responses to antibiotic pollution,but they ignored the microeukaryotic counterpart,though microeukaryotes are functionally important(e.g.,predators and saprophytes)in microbial ecology.Herein,we explored how the assembly of sediment microeukaryotes was affected by increasing antibiotic pollution at the inlet(control)and across the outlet sites along a shrimpwastewater discharge channel.The structures of sedimentmicroeukaryotic community were substantially altered by the increasing nutrient and antibiotic pollutions,whichwere primarily controlled by the direct effects of phosphate and ammonium(−0.645 and 0.507,respectively).In addition,tetracyclines exerted a large effect(0.209),including direct effect(0.326)and indirect effect(−0.117),on the microeukaryotic assembly.On the contrary,the fungal subcommunity was relatively resistant to antibiotic pollution.Segmented analysis depicted nonlinear responses of microeukaryotic genera to the antibiotic pollution gradient,as supported by the significant tipping points.We screened 30 antibiotic concentration-discriminatory taxa of microeukaryotes,which can quantitatively and accurately predict(98.7%accuracy)the in-situ antibiotic concentration.Sediment microeukaryotic(except fungal)community is sensitive to antibiotic pollution,and the identified bioindicators could be used for antibiotic pollution diagnosis.Chaohua Wang Zhiyuan Yao Pingping Zhan Xianghua Yi Jiong Chen Jinbo Xiong 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2:0
19Generation of functional oligopeptides that promote osteogenesis based on unsupervised deep learning of protein IDRs显示文摘Deep learning(DL)is currently revolutionizing peptide drug development due to both computational advances and the substantial recent expansion of digitized biological data.However,progress in oligopeptide drug development has been limited,likely due to the lack of suitable datasets and difficulty in identifying informative features to use as inputs for DL models.Here,we utilized an unsupervised deep learning model to learn a semantic pattern based on the intrinsically disordered regions of~171 known osteogenic proteins.Subsequently,oligopeptides were generated from this semantic pattern based on Monte Carlo simulation,followed by in vivo functional characterization.A five amino acid oligopeptide(AIB5P)had strong bone-formation-promoting effects,as determined in multiple mouse models(e.g.,osteoporosis,fracture,and osseointegration of implants).Mechanistically,we showed that AIB5P promotes osteogenesis by binding to the integrinα5 subunit and thereby activating FAK signaling.In summary,we successfully established an oligopeptide discovery strategy based on a DL model and demonstrated its utility from cytological screening to animal experimental verification.Mingxiang Cai Baichuan Xiao Fujun Jin Xiaopeng Xu Yuwei Hua Junhui Li Pingping Niu Meijing Liu Jiaqi Wu Rui Yue Yong Zhang Zuolin Wang Yongbiao Zhang Xiaogang Wang Yao Sun 2022Bone Research2022,10,2:0
