| 3 | Real-time compaction quality monitoring of high core rockfill dam显示文摘The conventional quality control method of core rockfill dam construction exhibit difficulty controlling compaction parameters accurately or ensuring construction quality. This is because it is easily influenced by human behavior or lack of adequate management. We therefore establish the timely monitoring indexes and control criteria of compaction processes by considering the characteristics and quality requirements of high core rockfill dam construction. Based on the established indexes and criteria, integrating GPS, GPRS and PDA technologies, a real-time compaction quality monitoring method is proposed. The relevant key techniques are proposed as well, including automatic collection of information and a graphic algorithm for rolling-process visualization. By the proposed method and techniques, a real-time monitoring system is provided to realize the precise automatic online entire-process monitoring of compaction parameters, including compaction pass, rolling trajectory, running speed of roller, vibration status and rolled pavement thickness. The application of the Nuozhadu project shows that the proposed system can control compaction parameters effectively and ensure better construction quality. | 4 | Spatiotemporal changes in vegetation coverage and its driving factors in the Three-River Headwaters Region during 2000-2011显示文摘The Three-River Headwaters Region(TRHR), which is the source area of the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Lancang River, is of key importance to the ecological security of China. Because of climate changes and human activities, ecological degradation occurred in this region. Therefore, 'The nature reserve of Three-River Source Regions' was established, and 'The project of ecological protection and construction for the Three-River Headwaters Nature Reserve' was implemented by the Chinese government. This study, based on MODIS-NDVI and climate data, aims to analyze the spatiotemporal changes in vegetation coverage and its driving factors in the TRHR between 2000 and 2011, from three dimensions. Linear regression, Hurst index analysis, and partial correlation analysis were employed. The results showed the following:(1) In the past 12 years(2000–2011), the NDVI of the study area increased, with a linear tendency being 1.2%/10a, of which the Yangtze and Yellow River source regions presented an increasing trend, while the Lancang River source region showed a decreasing trend.(2) Vegetation coverage presented an obvious spatial difference in the TRHR, and the NDVI frequency was featured by a bimodal structure.(3) The area with improved vegetation coverage was larger than the degraded area, being 64.06% and 35.94%, respectively during the study period, and presented an increasing trend in the north and a decreasing trend in the south.(4) The reverse characteristics of vegetation coverage change are significant. | 6 | Accurate single-observer passive coherent location estimation based on TDOA and DOA显示文摘This paper investigates the problem of target position estimation with a single-observer passive coherent location(PCL) system. An approach that combines angle with time difference of arrival(ATDOA) is used to estimate the location of a target. Compared with the TDOA-only method which needs two steps, the proposed method estimates the target position more directly. The constrained total least squares(CTLS) technique is applied in this approach. It achieves the Cramer–Rao lower bound(CRLB) when the parameter measurements are subject to small Gaussian-distributed errors. Performance analysis and the CRLB of this approach are also studied. Theory verifies that the ATDOA method gets a lower CRLB than the TDOA-only method with the same TDOA measuring error. It can also be seen that the position of the target affects estimating precision.At the same time, the locations of transmitters affect the precision and its gradient direction.Compared with the TDOA, the ATDOA method can obtain more precise target position estimation.Furthermore, the proposed method accomplishes target position estimation with a single transmitter,while the TDOA-only method needs at least four transmitters to get the target position. | 7 | A comparison of two kinds of eastward-moving mesoscale vortices during the mei-yu period of 2010显示文摘During the mei-yu period,the east edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the Dabie Mountain are two main sources of eastward-moving mesoscale vortices along the mei-yu front(MYF).In this study,an eastward-moving southwest vortex(SWV) and an eastward-moving Dabie vortex(DBV) during the mei-yu period of 2010 have been investigated to clarify the main similarities and differences between them.The synoptic analyses reveal that the SWV and DBV were both located at the lower troposphere;however,the SWV developed in a 'from top down' trend,whereas the DBV developed in an opposite way.There were obvious surface closed low centers corresponding to the DBV during its life span,whereas for the SWV,the closed low center only appeared at the mature stage.Cold and warm air intersected intensely after the formation of both the vortices,and the cold advection in the SWV case was stronger than that in the DBV case,whereas the warm advection in the DBV case was more intense than that in the SWV case.The Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea were main moisture sources for the SWV,whereas for the DBV,in addition to the above two moisture sources,the East China Sea was also an important moisture source.The vorticity budget indicates that the convergence was the most important common factor conducive to the formation,development,and maintenance of the SWV and DBV,whereas the conversion from the vertical vorticity to the horizontal one(tilting) was the most important common factor caused the dissipation of both of the vortices.The kinetic energy(KE) budget reveals that the KE generation by the rotational wind was the dominant factor for the enhancement of KE associated with the SWV,whereas for the DBV,the KE transport by the rotational wind was more important than the KE generation.The KE associated with the SWV and the DBV weakened with different mechanisms during the decaying stage.Furthermore,the characteristics of baroclinic and barotropic energy conversions during the life spans of both vortices indicate that the SWV and DBV both belong to the kind of subtropical mesoscale vortices. | FU ShenMing YU Fei WANG DongHai XIA RuDi | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,2: | 18 |
| 8 | Assessment of the GPM and TRMM Precipitation Products Using the Rain Gauge Network over the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Using high-quality hourly observations from national-level ground-based stations, the satellite-based rainfall products from both the Global Precipitation Measurement(GPM) Integrated Multisatellit E Retrievals for GPM(IMERG) and its predecessor, the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis(TMPA), are statistically evaluated over the Tibetan Plateau(TP), with an emphasis on the diurnal variation.The results indicate that:(1) the half-hourly IMERG rainfall product can explicitly describe the diurnal variation over the TP, but with discrepancies in the timing of the greatest precipitation intensity and an overestimation of the maximum rainfall intensity over the whole TP. In addition, the performance of IMERG on the hourly timescale, in terms of the correlation coefficient and relative bias, is different for regions with sea level height below or above 3500 m;(2) the IMERG products, having higher correlation and lower root-mean-square error, perform better than the TMPA products on the daily and monthly timescales; and(3) the detection ability of IMERG is superior to that of TMPA, as corroborated by a higher Hanssen and Kuipers score, a higher probability of detection, a lower false alarm ratio, and a lower bias. Compared to TMPA, the IMERG products ameliorate the overestimation across the TP. | 9 | Effects of emitter discharge rates on soil salinity distribution and cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.) yield under drip irrigation with plastic mulch in an arid region of Northwest China显示文摘A field experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of different emitter discharge rates under drip irrigation on soil salinity distribution and cotton yield in an extreme arid region of Tarim River catchment in Northwest China.Four treatments of emitter discharge rates,i.e.1.8,2.2,2.6 and 3.2 L/h,were designed under drip irrigation with plastic mulch in this paper.The salt distribution in the range of 70-cm horizontal distance and 100-cm vertical distance from the emitter was measured and analyzed during the cotton growing season.The soil salinity is expressed in terms of electrical conductivity(dS/m) of the saturated soil extract(EC e),which was measured using Time Domain Reflector(TDR) 20 times a year,including 5 irrigation events and 4 measured times before/after an irrigation event.All the treatments were repeated 3 times.The groundwater depth was observed by SEBA MDS Dipper 3 automatically at three experimental sites.The results showed that the order of reduction in averaged soil salinity was 2.6 L/h > 2.2 L/h > 1.8 L/h > 3.2 L/h after the completion of irrigation for the 3-year cotton growing season.Therefore,the choice of emitter discharge rate is considerably important in arid silt loam.Usually,the ideal emitter discharge rate is 2.4-3.0 L/h for soil desalinization with plastic mulch,which is advisable mainly because of the favorable salt leaching of silt loam and the climatic conditions in the studied arid area.Maximum cotton yield was achieved at the emitter discharge rate of 2.6 L/h under drip irrigation with plastic mulch in silty soil at the study site.Hence,the emitter discharge rate of 2.6 L/h is recommended for drip irrigation with plastic mulch applied in silty soil in arid regions. | Sulitan DANIERHAN Abudu SHALAMU Hudan TUMAERBAI DongHai GUAN | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1: | 15 |
| 10 | Supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol and desizing wastewater: Influence of NaOH on the organic decomposition显示文摘Polyvinyl alcohol is a refractory compound widely used in industry. Here we report supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol solution and desizing wastewater with and without sodium hydroxide addition. However, it is difficult to implement complete degradation of organics even though polyvinyl alcohol can readily crack under supercritical water treatment. Sodium hydroxide had a significant catalytic effect during the supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol. It appears that the OH ion participated in the C-C bond cleavage of polyvinyl alcohol molecules, the CO2-capture reaction and the neutralization of intermediate organic acids, promoting the overall reactions moving in the forward direction. Acetaldehyde was a typical intermediate product during reaction. For supercritical water oxidation of desizing wastewater, a high destruction rate (98.25%) based on total organic carbon was achieved. | 13 | Land-surface processes and summer-cloud-precipitation characteristics in the Tibetan Plateau and their effects on downstream weather:a review and perspective显示文摘Correct understanding of the land-surface processes and cloud-precipitation processes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is an important prerequisite for the study and forecast of the downstream activities of weather systems and one of the key points for understanding the global atmospheric movement.In order to show the achievements that have been made,this paper reviews the progress on the observations for the atmospheric boundary layer,land-surface heat fluxes,cloud-precipitation distributions and vertical structures by using ground-and space-based multiplatform,multisensor instruments and the effect of the cloud system in the TP on the downstream weather.The results show that the form drag related to the topography,land-atmosphere momentum and scalar fluxes is an important part of the parameterization process.The sensible heat flux decreased especially in the central and northern TP caused by the decrease in wind speeds and the differences in the ground-air temperatures.Observations show that the cloud and precipitation over the TP have a strong diurnal variation.Studies also show the compressed-air column in the troposphere by the higher-altitude terrain of the TP makes particles inside clouds vary at a shorter distance in the vertical direction than those in the non-plateau area so that precipitation intensity over the TP is usually small with short duration,and the vertical structure of the convective precipitation over the TP is obviously different from that in other regions.In addition,the influence of the TP on severe weather downstream is preliminarily understood from the mechanism.It is necessary to use model simulations and observation techniques to reveal the difference between cloud precipitation in the TP and non-plateau areas in order to understand the cloud microphysical parameters over the TP and the processes of the land boundary layer affecting cloud,precipitation and weather in the downstream regions. | Yunfei Fu Yaoming Ma Lei Zhong Yuanjian Yang Xueliang Guo Chenghai Wang Xiaofeng Xu Kun Yang Xiangde Xu Liping Liu Guangzhou Fan Yueqing Li Donghai Wang | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,3: | 10 |
| 14 | Development of a daily soil moisture product for the period of2002–2011 in Chinese mainland显示文摘Soil moisture is an essential climate variable(ECV) concerned widely. Due to its high spatial variability, it is costly to measure soil moisture at tens of kilometers scale. In this study, a ten-year(2002–2011) daily soil moisture dataset at 0.25° spatial resolution for Chinese mainland was produced through assimilating the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for Earth Observing System(AMSR-E) brightness temperature(TB) data into a land surface model(LSM). The obtained soil moisture data was evaluated against soil moisture-measuring networks deployed in two wet areas and one dry area of the Tibetan Plateau.The results show that for the wet areas the accuracy of the soil moisture product obtained from the assimilation is considerably higher than that of both AMSR-E official soil moisture products and land surface simulation results, and for the dry area their accuracy is comparable to each other. The spatial pattern of the soil moisture from the new product is consistent with that of soil porosity from an independent survey-based dataset, further confirming the credibility of the new product. According to this product, the transition regions in China show stronger seasonal variation of soil moisture than dry and wet regions, and drier regions have stronger inter-annual variability of soil moisture than wetter regions, particularly during transitional seasons(spring and autumn). | 17 | Flavonoid content and radical scavenging activity in fruits of Chinese dwarf cherry(Cerasus humilis) genotypes显示文摘The Chinese dwarf cherry(Cerasus humilis(Bge.) Sok.) is a small shrub with edible fruits. It is native to northern and western China. This species was included as a medicinal plant in the ‘‘Chinese Pharmacopeia'' and has emerged as an economically important crop for fresh fruit consumption, processing into juice and wine and nutraceutical products as well. To gain a better understanding of flavonoid biosynthesis and help develop value added products and better cultivars with greater health benefits, we analyzed total flavonoid content(TFC), composition, and radical scavenging activities in fruit extracts of 16 Chinese dwarf cherry genotypes. Fruit peel TFC ranged from 33.5 to72.8 mg/g REáFW(RE: rutin equivalent, FW: fresh weight)while fruit flesh TFC ranged from 4.3 to 16.9 mg/g REáFW.An HPLC analysis revealed that fruit extracts contained 14 flavonoids with considerable variation in their profiles across genotypes. The most abundant flavonoids in most genotypes were proanthocyanidin B1(PA-B1), proanthocyanidin B2(PA-B2), phloretin 20-O-glucoside(PG), and phloretin 20,40-O-diglucoside(PDG). Principal component analysis showed that PG, PA-B1, and PA-B2 had large,positive factor loading values in the first principal component for each genotype. Increased scavenging activity of2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radicals was apparent in genotypes ‘Nongda 4', ‘Nongda 3', ‘Nongda 6',‘Wenfenli', and '10-32', suggesting promising applications in the production of nutraceutical products. | 19 | Large-area straight,regular periodic surface structures produced on fused silica by the interference of two femtosecond laser beams through cylindrical lens显示文摘Inhomogeneity and low efficiency are two important factors that limit the application of laser-induced periodic surface structures(LIPSSs),especially on glass surfaces.In this study,two-beam interference(TBI)of femtosecond lasers was used to produce large-area straight LIPSSs on fused silica using cylindrical lenses.Compared with those produced us-ing a single circular or cylindrical lens,the LIPSSs produced by TBI are much straighter and more regular.Depending on the laser fluence and scanning velocity,LIPSSs with grating-like or spaced LIPSSs are produced on the fused silica sur-face.Their structural colors are blue,green,and red,and only green and red,respectively.Grating-like LIPSS patterns oriented in different directions are obtained and exhibit bright and vivid colors,indicating potential applications in surface coloring and anti-counterfeiting logos. | Long Chen Kaiqiang Cao Yanli Li Jukun Liu Shian Zhang Donghai Feng Zhenrong Sun Tianqing Jia | 2021 | Opto-Electronic Advances2021,4,12: | 7 |
| 20 | Application and Comparison of SST Model in Numerical Simulation of the Axial Compressors显示文摘The shear-stress transport(SST)turbulence model is incorporated into Navier-Stokes equations to simulate a turbomachinery flowfield.A staggered finite volume method is used to make the mean flow equations and turbulence model equations strongly coupled and enhance the stability of the numerical computation.The implicit treatment of the source terms is applied to the SST model.A steady state solution is obtained using five-stage Runge-Kutta time-stepping scheme with local time stepping and residual smoothing to accelerate convergence.
