| 1 | Ever-increasing diversity of drug-induced pancreatitis显示文摘With over 100000 hospital admissions per annum,acute pancreatitis remains the leading gastrointestinal cause of hospitalization in the United States and has farreaching impact well beyond.It has become increasingly recognized that druginduced pancreatitis(DIP),despite accounting for less than 3%of all cases,represents an important and growing though often inconspicuous cause of acute pancreatitis.Nevertheless,knowledge of DIP is often curtailed by the limited availability of evidence needed to implicate given agents,especially for nonprescription medications.Indeed,the majority of available data is derived from case reports,case series,or case control studies.Furthermore,the mechanism of injury and causality for many of these drugs remain elusive as a definitive correlation is generally not established(<10%of cases).Several classification systems have been proposed,but no single system has been widely adopted,and periodic updates are required in light of ongoing pharmacologic expansion.Moreover,infrequently prescribed medications or those available over-thecounter(including herbal and other alternative remedies)are often overlooked as a potential culprit of acute pancreatitis.Herein,we review the ever-increasing diversity of DIP and the potential mechanisms of injury with the goal of raising awareness regarding the nature and magnitude of this entity.We believe this manuscript will aid in increasing both primary and secondary prevention of DIP,thus ultimately facilitating more expedient diagnosis and a decrease in DIPrelated morbidity. | Simcha Weissman Muhammad Aziz Ryan B Perumpail Tej I Mehta Rutwik Patel James H Tabibian | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020，26，22： | 8 |
| 2 | Surface plasmon polariton at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium using Kerr effect显示文摘We theoretically investigate the control of surface plasmon polariton(SPP) generated at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium under Kerr nonlinearity. The controlled Kerr nonlinear signal of probe light beam in a dielectric medium is used to generate SPPs at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium. The positive, negative absorption, and dispersion properties of SPPs are modified and controlled by the control and Kerr fields. A large amplification(negative absorption) is noted for SPPs under the Kerr nonlinearity. The normal/anomalous slope of dispersion and propagation length of SPPs is modified and controlled with Kerr nonlinearity. This leads to significant variation in slow and fast SPP propagation. | 3 | Significance of platelet count in children admitted with bronchiolitis显示文摘AIM To determine the true prevalence of thrombocytosis in children less than 2 years of age with bronchiolitis,its association with risk factors,disease severity and thromboembolic complications.METHODS A retrospective observational medical chart review of 305 infants aged two years or less hospitalized for bronchiolitis.Clinical outcomes included disease severity,duration of hospital stay,admission to pediatric intensive care unit,or death.They also included complications of thrombocytosis,including thromboembolic complications such as cerebrovascular accident,acute coronary syndrome,deep venous thrombosis,pulmonary embolus,mesenteric thrombosis and arterial thrombosis and also hemorrhagic complications such as bleeding(spontaneous hemorrhage in the skin,mucous membranes,gastrointestinal,respiratory,or genitourinary tracts).RESULTS The median age was 4.7 mo and 179 were males(59%).Respiratory syncytial virus was isolated in 268(84%),adenovirus in 23(7%) and influenza virus A or B in 13(4%).Thrombocytosis(platelet count > 500 × 109/L) occurred in 88(29%;95%CI:24%-34%),more commonly in younger infants with the platelet count declining with age.There was no significant association with the duration of illness,temperature on admission,white blood cell count,serum C-reactive protein concentration,length of hospital stay or admission to the intensive care unit.No death,thrombotic or hemorrhagic events occurred.CONCLUSION Thrombocytosis is common in children under two years of age admitted with bronchiolitis.It is not associated with disease severity or thromboembolic complications. | Amar Al Shibli Najla Alkuwaiti May Hamie Dima Abukhater Muhammad B Noureddin Abdulla Amri Salwa Al Kaabi Aysha Al Kaabi Mariam Harbi Hassib Narchi | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2017，6，2： | 3 |
