| 1 | Global characterization and monitoring of forest cover using Landsat data: opportunities and challenges显示文摘The compilation of global Landsat data-sets and the ever-lowering costs of computing now make it feasible to monitor the Earth’s land cover at Landsat resolutions of 30 m.In this article,we describe the methods to create global products of forest cover and cover change at Landsat resolutions.Nevertheless,there are many challenges in ensuring the creation of high-quality products.And we propose various ways in which the challenges can be overcome.Among the challenges are the need for atmospheric correction,incorrect calibration coefficients in some of the data-sets,the different phenologies between compila-tions,the need for terrain correction,the lack of consistent reference data for training and accuracy assessment,and the need for highly automated character-ization and change detection.We propose and evaluate the creation and use of surface reflectance products,improved selection of scenes to reduce phenological differences,terrain illumination correction,automated training selection,and the use of information extraction procedures robust to errors in training data along with several other issues.At several stages we use Moderate Resolution Spectro-radiometer data and products to assist our analysis.A global working prototype product of forest cover and forest cover change is included. | John R.Townshend Jeffrey G.Masek Chengquan Huang Eric.F.Vermote Feng Gao Saurabh Channan Joseph O.Sexton Min Feng Raghuram Narasimhan Dohyung Kim Kuan Song Danxia Song Xiao-Peng Song Praveen Noojipady Bin Tan Matthew C.Hansen Mengxue Li Robert E.Wolfe | 2012 | International Journal of Digital Earth2012，5，5： | 10 |

| 3 | Gastric peritoneal carcinomatosis-a retrospective review显示文摘AIM To characterize patients with gastric peritoneal carcinomatosis(PC) and their typical clinical and treatment course with palliative systemic chemotherapy as the current standard of care.METHODS We performed a retrospective electronic chart review of all patients with gastric adenocarcinoma with PC diagnosed at initial metastatic presentation between January 2010 and December 2014 in a single tertiary referral centre.RESULTS We studied a total of 271 patients with a median age of 63.8 years and median follow-up duration of 5.1 mo. The majority(n = 217, 80.1%) had the peritoneum as the only site of metastasis at initial presentation. Palliative systemic chemotherapy was eventually planned for 175(64.6%) of our patients at initial presentation, of which 171 were initiated on it. Choice of first-line regime was in accordance with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines for Gastric Cancer Treatment. Thesepatients underwent a median of one line of chemotherapy, completing a median of six cycles in total. Chemotherapy disruption due to unplanned hospitalizations occurred in 114(66.7%), while cessation of chemotherapy occurred in 157(91.8%), with 42 cessations primarily attributable to PC-related complications. Patients who had initiation of systemic chemotherapy had a significantly better median overall survival than those who did not(10.9 mo vs 1.6 mo, P < 0.001). Of patients who had initiation of systemic chemotherapy, those who experienced any disruptions to chemotherapy due to unplanned hospitalizations had a significantly worse median overall survival compared to those who did not(8.7 mo vs 14.6 mo, P < 0.001).CONCLUSION Gastric PC carries a grim prognosis with a clinical course fraught with disease-related complications which may attenuate any survival benefit which palliative systemic chemotherapy may have to offer. | 4 | Electrochemical hydrogen-storage capacity of graphene can achieve a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1显示文摘As a promising hydrogen-storage material,graphene is expected to have a theoretical capacity of 7.7 wt%,which means a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1.However,it has not been demonstrated yet by experiment,and the aim of the U.S.Department of Energy is to achieve 5.5 wt%in 2025.We designed a spatially-confined electrochemical system and found that the storage capacity of hydrogen adatoms on single layer graphene(SLG)is as high as 7.3 wt%,which indicates a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1 by considering the sp^(3) defects of SLG.First,SLG was deposited on a large-area polycrystalline platinum(Pt)foil by chemical vapor deposition(CVD);then,a micropipette with reference electrode,counter electrode and electrolyte solution inside was impacted on the SLG/Pt foil(the working electrode)to construct the spatially-confined electrochemical system.The SLG-uncovered Pt atoms act as the catalytic sites to convert protons(H^(+))to hydrogen adatoms(H_(ad)),which then spill over and are chemically adsorbed on SLG through surface diffusion during the cathodic scan.Because the electrode processes are reversible,the H_(ad) amount can be measured by the anodic stripping charge.This is the first experimental evidence for the theoretically expected hydrogen-storage capacity on graphene at ambient environment,especially by using H+rather than hydrogen gas(H_(2))as the hydrogen source,which is of significance for the practical utilization of hydrogen energy. | Quanfeng He Lanping Zeng Lianhuan Han Juan Peng Matthew M.Sartin Yuan-Zhi Tan Dongping Zhan Zhong-Qun Tian | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022，65，2： | 2 |
