13D printing of bone tissue engineering scaffolds显示文摘Tissue engineering is promising in realizing successful treatments of human body tissue loss that current methods cannot treat well or achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.In scaffold-based bone tissue engineering,a high performance scaffold underpins the success of a bone tissue engineering strategy and a major direction in the field is to produce bone tissue engineering scaffolds with desirable shape,structural,physical,chemical and biological features for enhanced biological performance and for regenerating complex bone tissues.Three-dimensional(3D)printing can produce customized scaffolds that are highly desirable for bone tissue engineering.The enormous interest in 3D printing and 3D printed objects by the science,engineering and medical communities has led to various developments of the 3D printing technology and wide investigations of 3D printed products in many industries,including biomedical engineering,over the past decade.It is now possible to create novel bone tissue engineering scaffolds with customized shape,architecture,favorable macro-micro structure,wettability,mechanical strength and cellular responses.This article provides a concise review of recent advances in the R&D of 3D printing of bone tissue engineering scaffolds.It also presents our philosophy and research in the designing and fabrication of bone tissue engineering scaffolds through 3D printing.Chong Wang Wei Huang Yu Zhou Libing He Zhi He Ziling Chen Xiao He Shuo Tian Jiaming Liao Bingheng Lu Yen Wei Min Wang 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,1:20

3Single-cell transcriptomic atlas of primate cardiopulmonary aging显示文摘Aging is a major risk factor for many diseases,especially in highly prevalent cardiopulmonary comorbidities and infectious diseases including Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19).Resolving cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with aging in higher mammals is therefore urgently needed.Here,we created young and old non-human primate single-nucleus/cell transcriptomic atlases of lung,heart and artery,the top tissues targeted by SARS-CoV-2.Analysis of cell type-specific aging-associated transcriptional changes revealed increased systemic inflammation and compromised virus defense as a hallmark of cardiopulmonary aging.With age,expression of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)was increased in the pulmonary alveolar epithelial barrier,cardiomyocytes,and vascular endothelial cells.We found that interleukin 7(IL7)accumulated in aged cardiopulmonary tissues and induced ACE2 expression in human vascular endothelial cells in an NF-κB-dependent manner.Furthermore,treatment with vitamin C blocked IL7-induced ACE2 expression.Altogether,our findings depict the first transcriptomic atlas of the aged primate cardiopulmonary system and provide vital insights into age-linked susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2,suggesting that geroprotective strategies may reduce COVID-19 severity in the elderly.Shuai Ma Shuhui Sun Jiaming Li Yanling Fan Jing Qu Liang Sun Si Wang Yiyuan Zhang Shanshan Yang Zunpeng Liu Zeming Wu Sheng Zhang Qiaoran Wang Aihua Zheng Shuguang Duo Yang Yu Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte Piu Chan Qi Zhou Moshi Song Weiqi Zhang Guang-Hui Liu 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:10

5Industrial Spatial Agglomeration Using Distance-based Approach in Beijing, China显示文摘To study the difference of industrial location among different industries, this article is to test the spatial agglomeration across industries and firm sizes at the city level. Our research bases on a unique plant-level data set of Beijing and employs a distance-based approach, which considers space as continuous. Unlike previous studies, we set two sets of references for service and manufacturing industries respectively to adapt to the investigation in the intra-urban area. Comparing among eight types of industries and different firm sizes, we find that: 1) producer service, high-tech industries and labor-intensive manufacturing industries are more likely to cluster, whereas personal service and capital-intensive industries tend to be randomly dispersed in Beijing; 2) the spillover of the co-location of firms is more important to knowledge-intensive industries and has more significant impact on their allocation than business-oriented services in the intra-urban area; 3) the spatial agglomeration of service industries are driven by larger establishments, whereas manufacturing industries are mixed.LI Jiaming ZHANG Wenzhong YU Jianhui CHEN Hongxia 2015Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,6:7
6Artificial Selection in Domestication and Breeding Prevents Speciation in Rice显示文摘Speciation has long been regarded as an irreversible process once the reproductive barriers had been established.However,unlike in natural populations,artificial selection might either accelerate or prevent speciation processes in domesticated species.Asian cultivated rice is a target crop for both domestication and artificial breeding;it contains two subspecies of indica and japonica,which usually produce sterile inter-subspecific hybrids due to reproductive barriers.In this study,we constructed the evolutionary trajectory of a reproductive isolation system S5,which regulates fertility in indica-japonica hybrids via three adjacent genes,based on the data of 606 accessions including two cultivated and 11 wild rice species.Although hybrid sterility haplotypes at S5 lead to establishment of a killer-protector reproductive barrier,origin of wide-compatibility haplotypes by complex hybridization and recombination provides an opposing force to reproductive isolation and thus prevents speciation during domestication.Analysis in a diallel set of 209 crosses involving 21 parents showed that the wide-compatibility genotypes largely rescued fertility of indica-japonica hybrids,indicating that the wide-compatibility gene would enable gene flow to maintain species coherence.This counteracting system indicates that combined effects of natural evolution and artificial selection may result in reversible processes of speciation in rice,which may also have implications for genetic improvement of rice.Jiaming Mi Guangwei Li Conghao Xu Jiangyi Yang Huihui Yu Gongwei Wang Xianghua Li Jinghua Xiao Huazhi Song Qifa Zhang Yidan Ouyang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,4:6
7Anatomical variation of infra-pyloric artery origination: A prospective multicenter observational study (IPA-Origin)显示文摘Objective: Infra-pyloric artery(IPA) is an important anatomical landmark in treatment of gastric cancer and is the key vessel for pylorus-preserving gastrectomy and subgroup of infra-pyloric lymph nodes. However, its anatomical variation is not thoroughly understood. Our study aimed to clarify the origination of the IPA.Methods: We did this prospective, multicenter, open-label, observational study at gastric surgery departments of34 hospitals in China. Gastric cancer patients aged 18 years or older and scheduled to undergo elective total or distal gastrectomy were assigned. During the surgery, IPA dissecting and exposing the origination point with photographs or video clips were required. The primary outcome was the origination of the IPA. Analysis of variance, χ~2 tests and Fisher's tests were used to analyze the differences between groups. The study is registered at Clinicaltrials.gov(No. NCT03071237).Results: Between May 8 and July 31, 2017, 429 patients were assigned for the study, and 419(97.7%) patients had the IPA dissected and recorded through photograph or video and were included in the primary outcome analysis. The median age was 62 years old, and 73.7% were male. Among the patients, 78.5% received laparoscopic surgery. Single IPA origination was identified in 398(95.0%) patients, including gastroduodenal artery(GDA) in154(36.8%) patients, anterior superior pancreaticoduodenal artery(ASPDA) in 130(31.0%) patients, and right gastroepiploic artery(RGEA) in 114(27.2%) patients. Fifteen(3.6%) patients were identified with multiple IPA and 6(1.4%) patients were identified as IPA absence. The differences in the distribution of surgical approach(P=0.003) and geographic area(P=0.030) were statistically significant. 8Single-nucleus transcriptomic landscape of primate hippocampal aging显示文摘The hippocampus plays a crucial role in learning and memory,and its progressive deterioration with age is functionally linked to a variety of human neurodegenerative diseases.Yet a systematic profiling of the aging effects on various hippocampal cell types in primates is still missing.Here,we reported a variety of new aging-associated phenotypic changes of the primate hippocampus.These include,in particular,increased DNA damage and heterochromatin erosion with time,alongside loss of proteostasis and elevated inflammation.To understand their cellular and molecular causes,we established the first single-nucleus transcriptomic atlas of primate hippocampal aging.Among the 12 identified cell types,neural transiently amplifying progenitor cell(TAPC)and microglia were most affected by aging.In-depth dissection of gene-expression dynamics revealed impaired TAPC division and compromised neuronal function along the neurogenesis trajectory;additionally elevated pro-inflammatory responses in the aged microglia and oligodendrocyte,as well as dysregulated coagulation pathways in the aged endothelial cells may contribute to a hostile microenvironment for neurogenesis.This rich resource for understanding primate hippocampal aging may provide potential diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic interventions against age-related neurodegenerative diseases.Hui Zhang Jiaming Li Jie Ren Shuhui Sun Shuai Ma Weiqi Zhang Yang Yu Yusheng Cai Kaowen Yan Wei Li Baoyang Hu Piu Chan Guo-Guang Zhao Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte Qi Zhou Jing Qu Si Wang Guang-Hui Liu 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,9:5

10Effect of Al content on the reaction between Fe-10Mn-xAl(x=0.035wt%,0.5wt%,1wt%,and 2wt%)steel and CaO-SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-MgO slag显示文摘The effect of Al content(0.035 wt%,0.5 wt%,1 wt%,and 2 wt%)on the composition change of steel and slag as well as inclusion transformation of high manganese steel after it has equilibrated with Ca O-Si O_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-Mg O slag was studied using the method of slag/steel reaction.The experimental results showed that as the initial content of Al increased from 0.035 wt%to 2 wt%,Al gradually replaced Mn to react with Si O_(2)in slag to avoid the loss of Mn due to the reaction;this process caused both Al_(2)O_(3)in slag and Si in steel to increase while Si O_(2)and Mn O in slag to reduce.In addition,the type of inclusions also evolved as the initial Al content increased.The evolution route of inclusions was Mn O→Mn O-Al_(2)O_(3)-Mg O→Mg O→Mn O-Ca O-Al_(2)O_(3)-Mg O and Mn O-Ca O-Mg O.The shape of inclusions evolved from spherical to irregular,became faceted,and finally transformed to spherical.The average size of inclusions presented a trend that was increasing first and then decreasing.The transformation mechanism of inclusions was explored.As the initial content of Al increased,Mg and Ca were reduced from top slag into molten steel in sequence,which consequently caused the transformation of inclusions.Huixiang Yu Dexin Yang Jiaming Zhang Guangyuan Qiu Ni Zhang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,2:4

12Study on the synergy between intra-urban resident's migration and job change in Beijing显示文摘People's decisions of residential mobility in housing market and decisions of job change in labor market play an essential role in the formation and dynamics of urban spatial structure. This paper investigates the relationship between residential relocation and job change and its heterogeneity using a large-scale survey of residential living satisfaction and preferences in Beijing. Several conclusions are drawn as follows: 1) People's decisions of residential mobility are significantly positively correlated with their decisions of job change, indicating that these two-dimensional decisions are in fact a correlated decision process rather than two independent decision processes. 2) There is heterogeneity in the correlated decisions of residential mobility and job change. More specifically, the interrelationship between the decisions of residential mobility and job change among people without Beijing hukou, renters and single-worker households is more intensive than people with Beijing hukou, homeowners and multi-worker households. 13Ground-based Observations of Ultraviolet and Total Solar Radiation in Shenyang,Northeast China显示文摘Objective This work explores the diurnal variation of Solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and total solar radiation (TSR) in northeast China,using daily observations of UVR and TSR in Shenyang.Methods UVR and TSR measurements were carried out from March 1st,2006 to December 31st,2009 in Shenyang,Liaoning province,China (41°51' N,123°27' E).Results Both TSR and UVR showed seasonal variation,reaching the highest levels in summer and the lowest in winter.They showed the greatest fluctuation in summer and autumn.The irradiance of TSR and UVR on clear days around the equinoxes and solstices increased substantially compared with the mean seasonal irradiance,especially in autumn.The whole day accumulated dose of UVR in winter was far less than that during the middle part of a summer day (i.e.between 10:00 and 14:00).It was also less than the accumulated summer dose of morning and afternoon (i.e.between 8:00 and 10:00 and 14:00 and 16:00).Conclusion The instant irradiance and daily accumulated amount of UVR are low in Shenyang,especially in autumn and winter.Thus concern about the health effects arising because shortage of UVR in northeast China is warranted.GAO Qian HU LiWen GONG HuiZhi GAO Na YU JiaMing WANG Yang CHU Chun YANG Hui LIU Yang 2011Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,5:2
14Potential therapeutic effects and applications of Eucommiae Folium in secondary hypertension显示文摘Eucommiae Folium(EF),a traditional Chinese medicine,has been used to treat secondary hypertension,including renal hypertension and salt-sensitive hypertension,as well as hypertension caused by thoracic aortic endothelial dysfunction,a high-fat diet,and oxidized low-density lipoprotein.The antihypertensive components of EF are divided into four categories:flavonoids,iridoids,lignans,and phenylpropanoids,such as chlorogenic acid,geniposide acid and pinoresinol diglucoside.EF regulates the occurrence and development of hypertension by regulating biological processes,such as inhibiting inflammation,regulating the nitric oxide synthase pathway,reducing oxidative stress levels,regulating endothelial vasoactive factors,and lowering blood pressure.However,its molecular antihypertensive mechanisms are still unclear and require further investigation.In this review,by consulting the relevant literature on the antihypertensive effects of EF and using network pharmacology,we summarized the active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms of EF in the treatment of hypertension to clarify how EF is associated with secondary hypertension,the related components,and underlying mechanisms.The results of the network pharmacology analysis indicated that EF treats hypertension through a multicomponent,multi-target and multi-pathway mechanism.In particular,we discussed the role of EF targets in the treatment of hypertension,including epithelial sodium channel,heat shock protein70,rhoassociated protein kinase 1,catalase,and superoxide dismutase.The relevant signal transduction pathways,the ras homolog family member A(RhoA)/Rho-associated protein kinase(ROCK)and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)oxidase/eNOS/NO/Ca^(2+)pathways,are also discussed.Mengyuan Li Yanchao Zheng Sha Deng Tian Yu Yucong Ma Jiaming Ge Jiarong Li Xiankuan Li Lin Ma 2022Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,5:2

16Dynamically reconfigurable subwavelength optical device for hydrogen sulfide gas sensing显示文摘The importance of tunable subwavelength optical devices in modern electromagnetic and photonic systems is indisputable.Herein,a lithography-free,wide-angle,and reconfigurable subwavelength optical device with high tunability operating in the near-infrared regions is proposed and experimentally demonstrated,based on a reversible nanochemistry approach.The reconfigurable subwavelength optical device basically comprises an ultrathin copper oxide(CuO)thin film on an optical thick gold substrate by utilizing the reversible chemical conversion of CuO to sulfides upon exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas.Proof-of-concept experimental results show that the maximal modulation depth of reflectance can be as high as 90%at the wavelength of 1.79μm with the initial thickness of CuO taken as 150 nm.Partially reflected wave calculations combined with the transfer matrix method are employed to analytically investigate the optical properties of the structure,which show good agreement with experimental results.We believe that the proposed versatile approaches can be implemented for dynamic control management,allowing applications in tunable photonics,active displays,optical encryption,and gas sensing.ZHENGJI WEN JIALIANG LU WEIWEI YU HAO WU HAO XIE XIAOHANG PAN QIANQIAN XU ZIJI ZHOU CHONG TAN DONGJIE ZHOU CHANG LIU YAN SUN NING DAI JIAMING HAO 2021Photonics Research2021,9,10:1
