1PM_(2.5) and PM_(10-2.5) chemical composition and source apportionment near a Hong Kong roadway显示文摘Twenty-four-hour PM_(2.5) and PM_(10) samples were collected simultaneously at a highly trafficked roadside site in Hong Kong every sixth day from October 2004 to September 2005.The mass concentrations of PM_(2.5),PM_(10-2.5)(defined as PM_(10)- PM_(2.5)),organic carbon(OC),elemental carbon(EC),water-soluble ions,and up to 25 elements were determined.Investigation of the chemical compositions and potential sources revealed distinct differences between PM_(2.5) and PM_(10-2.5).The annual average mass concentrations were 55.5±25.5 and 25.9±15.7 ug/m^3 for PM_(2.5) and PM_(10-2.5),respectively.EC,OM(OM =OC×1.4),and ammonium sulfate comprised over ~82% of PM_(2.5),accounting for^29%,~27%,and ~25%,respectively,of the PM_(2.5) mass.Low OC/EC ratios(less than 1) for PM_(2.5) suggested that fresh diesel-engine exhaust was a major contributor.Seven sources were resolved for PM_(2.5) by positive matrix factorization(PMF) model,including vehicle emissions(~29%),secondary inorganic aerosols(~27%),waste incinerator/biomass burning(~23%),residual oil combustion(~10%),marine aerosols(~6%),industrial exhaust(~4%),and resuspended road dust(~1%).EC and OM comprised only ~19%of PM_(10-2.5).The average OC/EC ratio of PM_(10-2.5) was 7.8±14.2,suggesting that sources other than vehicular exhaust were important contributors.The sources for PM_(10-2.5) determined by the PMF model included ~20%traffic-generated resuspension(e.g.,tire dust/brake linear/petrol evaporation),~17% locally resuspended road dust,~17% marine aerosols,~12% secondary aerosols/field burning,and ~11%vehicle emissions.Yan Cheng Shuncheng Lee Zhaolin Gu Kinfai Ho Yunwei Zhang Yu Huang Judith C.Chow John G.Watson Junji Cao Renjian Zhang 2015Particuology2015,13,1:14

3Enhanced photocatalytic activity and mechanism of CeO_(2) hollow spheres for tetracycline degradation显示文摘Recently, researchers have focused on designing and fabricating highly efficient catalysts for photocatalytic organic pollutant removal. Herein, CeO_(2) hollow spheres were prepared through a simple template method followed by calcination at different temperatures for the tetracycline(TC) degradation under simulated solar light illumination. With a calcination temperature ranging from400 to 800 ℃, the as-prepared CeO_(2) hollow structure annealed at 600 ℃(C_(600)) exhibited the best degradation performance with a degradation rate constant of0.066 min-1, which was about six and five times higher than those of the uncalcined sample(C_(0)) and the sample calcined at 800 ℃(C_(800)), respectively. Moreover, sample C_(600)was also superior to the CeO_(2) solid particle photocatalyst. The characterisation results showed that the improved photocatalytic performance was mainly ascribed to the synergistic effect of large specific surface areas, high crystallisation and excellent light scattering ability. Furthermore, the results of active species trapping experiments demonstrated that the superoxide anion(·O_(2)^(-)) radical and hole(h^(+)) played dominant roles in TC degradation. Subsequently, the possible TC degradation pathways and photocatalytic mechanism of CeO_(2) hollow spheres were proposed on the basis of high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis, main active species and band edge positions of CeO_(2). 4Tuning the strength of built-in electric field in 2D/2D g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) and g-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) S-scheme heterojunctions by nonmetal doping显示文摘Single photocatalysts usually exhibit unsatisfactory performance due to the serious recombination of photogenerated electron‒hole pairs.Combining two photocatalysts to construct S-scheme heterojunction could solve this problem.In S-scheme mechanism,the interfacial built-in electric field(IEF)provides a vital driving force for efficient charge separation.Modifying the IEF is a feasible strategy to further improve the photocatalytic activity.Herein,a novel idea of tuning the strength of IEF in 2D/2D graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))/MS2(M=Sn,Zr)S-scheme heterojunctions by nonmetal doping was developed by employing density functional theory calculation.Three nonmetal elements(O,P,and S)were severally introduced into g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites.Charge density difference suggested that O and S doping led to increased interfacial electron transfer,while P doping had minimal influence.As expected,the calculated field strength of O-and S-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites was significantly larger than that of pristine and P-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites.Therefore,O and S doping endowed g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) Sscheme heterojunctions with enhanced IEF and more thorough charge transfer.Correspondingly,the experimentally synthesized O-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) composite exhibited better photocatalytic H2-production activity than g-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) composite.This work proposed an original idea of employing proper nonmetal doping to magnify the advantage of S-scheme heterojunction in accelerating charge separation.Bicheng Zhu Haiyan Tan Jiajie Fan Bei Cheng Jiaguo Yu Wingkei Ho 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,5:3

species,representing a wide taxonomic and geographic range.The new families,Ascocylindricaceae,Caryosporaceae and Wicklowiaceae(Ascomycota)are introduced based on their distinct lineages and unique morphology.The new Dothideomycete genera Pseudomassariosphaeria(Amniculicolaceae),Heracleicola,Neodidymella and 19TiO_(2)/In_(2)S_(3)S-scheme photocatalyst with enhanced H_(2)O_(2)-production activity显示文摘Photocatalytic production of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))is an ideal pathway for obtaining solar fuels.Herein,an S-scheme heterojunction is constructed in hybrid TiO_(2)/In_(2)S_(3)photocatalyst,which greatly promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers to foster efficient H_(2)O_(2)evolution.These composite photocatalysts show a high H_(2)O_(2)yield of 376μmol/(L·h).The mechanism of charge transfer and separation within the S-scheme heterojunction is well studied by computational methods and experiments.Density functional theory and in-situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results reveal distinct features of the S-scheme heterojunction in the TiO_(2)/In_(2)S_(3)hybrids and demonstrate charge transfer mechanisms.The density functional theory calculation and electron paramagnetic resonance results suggest that O_(2)reduction to H_(2)O_(2)follows stepwise one-electron processes.In_(2)S_(3)shows a much stronger interaction with O_(2)than TiO_(2)as well as a higher reduction ability,serving as the active sites for H_(2)O_(2)generation.The work provides a novel design of S-scheme photocatalyst with high H_(2)O_(2)evolution efficiency and mechanistically demonstrates the improved separation of charge carriers.Yi Yang Bei Cheng Jiaguo Yu Linxi Wang Wingkei Ho 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
20Evaluating the short-term effect of ambient temperature on non-fatal outdoor falls and road traffic injuries among children and adolescents in China: a time-stratified case-crossover study显示文摘studies have suggested that non-optimal temperatures may increase the risk of injury,epidemiological studies focusing on the association between temperature and non-fatal injury among children and adolescents are limited.Therefore,we investigated the short-term effect of ambient temperature on non-fatal falls and road traffic injuries(RTIs)among students across Jiangsu Province,China.Meteorological data and records of non-fatal outdoor injuries due to falls and RTIs among students aged 6–17 were collected during 2018–2020.We performed a time-stratified case-crossover analysis with a distributed lag nonlinear model to examine the effect of ambient temperature on the risk of injury.Individual meteorological exposure was estimated based on the address of the selected school.We also performed stratified analyses by sex,age,and area.A total of 57322 and 5455 cases of falls and RTIs were collected,respectively.We observed inverted U-shaped curves for temperatureinjury associations,with maximum risk temperatures at 18℃(48th of daily mean temperature distribution)for falls and 22℃(67th of daily mean temperature distribution)for RTIs.The corresponding odds ratios(95%confidence intervals)were 2.193(2.011,2.391)and 3.038(1.988,4.644)for falls and RTIs,respectively.Notably,there was a significant age-dependent trend in which the temperature effect on falls was greater in older students(P-trend<0.05).This study suggests a ignificant association between ambient temperature and students’outdoor falls and RTIs.Our findings may help advance tailored strategies to reduce the incidence of outdoor falls and RTIs in children and adolescents.Hao Zheng Jian Cheng Hung Chak Ho Baoli Zhu Zhen Ding Wencong Du Xin Wang Yang Yu Juan Fei Zhiwei Xu Jinyi Zhou Jie Yang 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,9:0
