2Groundwater contributions in water-salt balances of the lakes in the Badain Jaran Desert,China显示文摘Groundwater-fed lakes are essential for the ecology in arid and semiarid regions.As a typical arid region,the Badain Jaran Desert (BJD) is famous in the world for the presence of a large number of groundwater-fed saline lakes among the mega dunes.Based on the up to date geological surveys and observations,this study analyzed the groundwater contributions in water-salt balances of the lakes in the desert.We found different types of springs,including the sublacustrine springs that indicate an upward flow of groundwater under the lakebed.A simplified water balance model was developed to analyze the seasonal variations of water level in the Sumu Barun Jaran Lake,which revealed an approximately steady groundwater discharge in the lake and explained why the amplitude of seasonal changes in lake level is less than 0.5 m.In addition,a salt balance model was developed to evaluate the salt accumulations in the groundwater-fed lakes.The relative salt accumulation time is 800–7,000 years in typical saline lakes,which were estimated from the concentration of Cl-,indicating a long history evolution for the lakes in the BJD.Further researches are recommended to provide comprehensive investigations on the interactions between the lakes and groundwater in the BJD.GONG Yanping WANG Xusheng HU B Xiao ZHOU Yangxiao HAO Chunbo WAN Li 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,5:7
3Regulation of non-classical immune parameters in immune thrombocytopenic purpura mice by a spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing formula显示文摘Objective:This study investigated the regulatory effect of non-classical immune parameters on immune thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP)mice by a spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing formula(SQBF).Method:A total of 80 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into four equal groups(20 mice each):control group,model group,prednisone group and spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing(SQBF)group.Mice in the model group,prednisone group,and SQBF group were administered anti-platelet serum to induce ITP.The dynamic variations of platelet counts in ITP mice were measured with an automatic blood analyzer before modeling and 48 h,and 8,12 and 15 days following APS injection.Levels of b-endorphin(b-EP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)and salivary IgA(SIgA)were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)on 15th day of experiment.Results:SQBF enhanced peripheral blood platelet counts in ITP mice similar to that of prednisone,and both groups showed a statistically significant response compared with the model group(P<.01).The SQBF significantly decreased b-EP levels compared with the model and prednisone intervention groups(P<.05),significantly increased the levels of VIP and SIgA in ITP mice compared with the model group(P<.05)and had significant protective effects on the thymus of ITP mice compared with the model group(P<.01).Conclusions:The SQBF had a similar effect to prednisone with regards to enhancing peripheral blood platelet counts in ITP mice.Furthermore,it decreased b-EP levels and increased VIP and SIgA,and protected the thymus.This shows that,on base of the brain-gut axis functions,some non-classical immune vascular active factors or neurotransmitters are also involved in immune responses,and also have relationship with the onset of ITP and bleeding and/or hemostasis.It needs further study to determine whether a change in these active factors is related to immediate hemostasis.Tiantian Li Hao He Li Hou Yue Xu Xiaoyong Wu Yanping Sun Lei Zheng Zhixiong Chen Xinyi Chen Bei Qin 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2015,2,2:6
4Dissipative particle dynamics thermostat: a novel thermostat for molecular dynamics simulation of liquid crystals with Gay–Berne potential显示文摘The Gay–Berne(GB) model has been proved to be highly successful in the simulation of liquid crystal phases via both molecular dynamics(MD) and nonequilibrium molecular dynamics(NEMD). However, the conventional thermostats used in the simulations of GB systems, such as Nosé–Hoover and Langevin thermostats, have serious shortcomings especially in NEMD simulations. Recently, dissipative particle dynamics(DPD) has established itself as a useful thermostat for soft matter simulations, whereas the application of DPD thermostat in(NE)MD simulations is limited to the spherically isotropic potential models, such as the Lennard–Jones model. Considering the virtues of the DPD thermostat, that is, local, momentum conserved, and Galilean invariant, we extend the DPD thermostat to the non-spherical GB model. It is interesting to find that the translational DPD and rotational DPD thermostats can be used in the GB system independently and both can achieve the thermostatting effects. Also, we compared the performance of the DPD thermostat with other commonly used thermostats in NEMD simulations by investigating the streaming velocity profiles and the dynamics of phase separation in a typical but simple binary GB mixture under shear field. It is revealed that the known virtues of DPD thermostats, such as Galilean invariant, shear velocity profile-unbiased, and unscreened hydrodynamic interactions, are still intact when applying to GB systems. 5Development of Cu foam-based Ni catalyst for solar thermal reforming of methane with carbon dioxide显示文摘Using solar energy to produce syngas via the endothermic reforming of methane has been extensively investigated at the laboratory- and pilot plant-scales as a promising method of storing solar energy. One of the challenges to scaling up this process in a tubular reformer is to improve the reactor's performance, which is limited by mass and heat transfer issues. High thermal conductivity Cu foam was therefore used as a substrate to improve the catalyst's thermal conductivity during solar reforming. We also developed a method to coat the foam with the catalytically active component NiMg_3AlO_x. The Cu foam-based NiMg_3AlO_x performs better than catalysts supported on SiSiC foam, which is currently used as a substrate for solar-reforming catalysts, at high gas hourly space velocity(≥400,000 mL/(g·h)) or at low reaction temperatures(≤ 720 °C). 6Synthesis of novel substituted N-aryl benzamides as hA3G stabilizers and their inhibitory activities against hepatitis C virus replication显示文摘A series of novel amino-substituted N-aryl benzamide analogs were synthesized and evaluated for their ability to inhibit hepatitis C virus(HCV)replication in acutely infected Huh7.5 cells.Most of the substituted N-aryl benzamide compounds showed convincing anti-HCV activities.Compounds 1f,1g and 4c exhibited potent anti-replicative activity at low micromolar levels(IC_(50)=1.0–2.0μM)with selective indices(SI)greater than 40.Mechanistic analysis indicated that the active compounds increased intracellular hA3G protein levels and inhibited HCV replication in a dose-dependent manner.The results demonstrate that this series of substituted Naryl benzamide compounds warrant further investigation as inhibitors of HCV replication.Yanping Li Zonggen Peng Lanhu Hao Zhouyi Wu Yanping Zhu Laixing Hu Jiandong Jiang Zhuorong Li 2013Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2013,3,5:2
7Free Riding Inhibition Mechanism Based on User Behavior in P2P File-Sharing System显示文摘In order to inhibit Free Riding in Peer-toPeer(P2P) file-sharing systems,the Free Riding Inhibition Mechanism Based on User Behavior(IMBUB) is proposed.IMBUB considers the regularity of user behavior and models user behavior by analyzing many definitions and formulas.In IMBUB,Bandwidth Allocated Ratio,Incentive Mechanism Based on User Online Time,Double Reward Mechanism,Incentive Mechanism of Sharing for Permission and Inhibition Mechanism of White-washing Behavior are put forward to inhibit Free Riding and encourage user sharing.A P2P file system BITShare is designed and realized under the conditions of a campus network environment.The test results show that BITShare's Query Hit Ratio has a significant increase from 22% to 99%,and the sharing process in BITShare is very optimistic.Most users opt to use online time to exchange service quality instead of white-washing behavior,and the real white-ishing ratio in BITShare is lower than 1%.We confirm that IMBUB can effectively inhibit Free Riding behavior in P2P file-sharing systems.Zhang Yu Bai Yanping Hao Ying 2012China Communications2012,9,12:2
8Experimental and density functional theory computational evaluation of poly(N-vinyl caprolactam-co-butyl methacrylate) kinetic hydrate inhibitors显示文摘Natural gas hydrate inhibitor has been serving the oil and gas industry for many years. The development and search for new inhibitors remain the focus of research. In this study, the solution polymerization method was employed to prepare poly(N-vinyl caprolactam-co-butyl methacrylate)(P(VCap-BMA)), as a new kinetic hydrate inhibitor(KHI). The inhibition properties of P(VCap-BMA) were investigated by tetrahydrofuran(THF) hydrate testing and natural gas hydrate forming and compared with the commercial KHIs. The experiment showed that PVCap performed better than copolymer P(VCap-BMA). However,low doses of methanol or ethylene glycol are compounded with KHIs. The compounding inhibitors show a synergistic inhibitory effect. More interesting is the P(VCap-BMA)-methanol system has a better inhibitory effect than the PVCap-methanol system. 1% P(VCap-BMA) + 5% methanol presented the best inhibiting performance at subcooling 10.3 °C, the induction time of natural gas hydrate was 445 min.Finally, the interaction between water and several dimeric inhibitors compared by natural bond orbital(NBO) analyses and density functional theory(DFT) indicated that inhibitor molecules were able to form the hydrogen bond with the water molecules, which result in gas hydrate inhibition. 93D printed fiber-optic nanomechanical bioprobe显示文摘Ultrasensitive nanomechanical instruments,e.g.atomic force microscopy(AFM),can be used to perform delicate biomechanical measurements and reveal the complex mechanical environment of biological processes.However,these instruments are limited because of their size and complex feedback system.In this study,we demonstrate a miniature fiber optical nanomechanical probe(FONP)that can be used to detect the mechanical properties of single cells and in vivo tissue measurements.A FONP that can operate in air and in liquids was developed by programming a microcantilever probe on the end face of a single-mode fiber using femtosecond laser two-photon polymerization nanolithography.To realize stiffness matching of the FONP and sample,a strategy of customizing the microcantilever’s spring constant according to the sample was proposed based on structure-correlated mechanics.As a proof-of concept,three FONPs with spring constants varying from 0.421 N m^(−1)to 52.6 N m^(−1)by more than two orders of magnitude were prepared.The highest microforce sensitivity was 54.5 nmμN^(−1)and the detection limit was 2.1 nN.The Young’s modulus of heterogeneous soft materials,such as polydimethylsiloxane,muscle tissue of living mice,onion cells,and MCF-7 cells,were successfully measured,which validating the broad applicability of this method.Our strategy provides a universal protocol for directly programming fiber-optic AFMs.Moreover,this method has no special requirements for the size and shape of living biological samples,which is infeasible when using commercial AFMs.FONP has made substantial progress in realizing basic biological discoveries,which may create new biomedical applications that cannot be realized by current AFMs.Mengqiang Zou Changrui Liao Yanping Chen Lei Xu Shuo Tang Gaixia Xu Ke Ma Jiangtao Zhou Zhihao Cai Bozhe Li Cong Zhao Zhourui Xu Yuanyuan Shen Shen Liu Ying Wang Zongsong Gan Hao Wang Xuming Zhang Sandor Kasas Yiping Wang 2023International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2023,5,1:1

15Oxidized galectin-1 in SLE fails to bind the inhibitory receptor VSTM1 and increases reactive oxygen species levels in neutrophils显示文摘Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation,and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses.However,the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown,representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases.Here,we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1(VSTM1)is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1(Gal1)is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production.However,in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),circulating Gal1 is oxidized and cannot be recognized by VSTM1,leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species levels and reduced neutrophil viability.Dysregulated neutrophil function or death contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of SLE by providing danger molecules and autoantigens that drive the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of autoreactive lymphocytes.Interestingly,serum levels of glutathione,an antioxidant able to convert oxidized Gal1 to its reduced form,were negatively correlated with SLE disease activity.Taken together,our findings reveal failed inhibitory Gal1/VSTM1 pathway activation in patients with SLE and provide important insights for the development of effective targeted therapies.Xu Jiang Xinyue Xiao Hao Li Yiyi Gong Min Wang Huaxia Yang Lidan Zhao Ying Jiang Yanping Wei Chongchong Zhao Jin Li Yuling Chen Shan Feng Haiteng Deng Shiliang Ma Yue Xu Yudong Liu George C.Tsokos Minghong Jiang Xuan Zhan 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11:1

19Cardiomyocyte-specific knockout of ADAM17 ameliorates left ventricular remodeling and function in diabetic cardiomyopathy of mice显示文摘Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)has proven beneficial in attenuating diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM)but has been found to be a substrate of a disintegrin and metalloprotease protein-17(ADAM17).However,whether ADAM17 plays a role in the pathogenesis and intervention of DCM is obscure.In this study,we created cardiomyocyte-specific knockout of ADAM17(A17^(α-MHCKO))mice,and left ventricular dimension,function,pathology and molecular biology were assessed in ADAM17^(fl/fl) control,A17^(α-MHCKO) control,ADAM17^(fl/fl) diabetic and A17^(α-MHCKO) diabetic mice.Both differentiated H9c2 cells and neonatal rat cardiomyocytes(NRCMs)were used to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the effect of ADAM17 on DCM.The results showed that protein expression and activity of ADAM17 were upregulated whereas the protein expression of ACE2 was downregulated in the myocardium of diabetic mice.Cardiomyocyte-specific knockout of ADAM17 mitigated cardiac fibrosis and cardiomyocyte apoptosis and ameliorated cardiac dysfunction in mice with DCM.Bioinformatic analyses detected a number of genes enriched in metabolic pathways,in particular the AMPK signaling pathway,expressed differentially between the hearts of A17^(α-MHCKO)and ADAM17^(fl/fl)diabetic mice.The mechanism may involve activated AMPK pathway,increased autophagosome formation and improved autophagic flux,which reduced the apoptotic response in cardiomyocytes.In addition,hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)might act as an upstream mediator of upregulated ADAM17 and ADAM17 might affect AMPK signaling viaα1 A-adrenergic receptor(ADRA1A).These results indicated that ADAM17 activity and ACE2 shedding were enhanced in DCM,which was reversed by cardiomyocyte-specific ADAM17 knockout.Thus,inhibition of ADAM17 may provide a promising approach to the treatment of DCM.Fei Xue Jing Cheng Yanping Liu Cheng Cheng Meng Zhang Wenhai Sui Wenqiang Chen Panpan Hao Yun Zhang Cheng Zhang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9:1
