| 1 | Relationship between intestinal microbiota and ulcerative colitis:Mechanisms and clinical application of probiotics and fecal microbiota transplantation显示文摘Ulcerative colitis(UC) is an inflammatory disease that mainly affects the colon and rectum. It is believed that genetic factors, host immune system disorders, intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, and environmental factors contribute to the pathogenesis of UC. however, studies on the role of intestinal microbiota in the pathogenesis of UC have been inconclusive. Studies have shown that probiotics improve intestinal mucosa barrier function and immune system function and promote secretion of anti-inflammatory factors, thereby inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria in the intestine. Fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT) can reduce bowel permeability and thus the severity of disease by increasing the production of short-chain fatty acids, especially butyrate, which help maintain the integrity of the epithelial barrier. FMT can also restore immune dysbiosis by inhibiting Th1 differentiation, activity of T cells, leukocyte adhesion, and production of inflammatory factors. Probiotics and FMT are being increasingly used to treat UC, but their use is controversial because of uncertain efficacy. | 3 | Cultivation of microalgae for biodiesel production:A review on upstream and downstream processing显示文摘Fluctuating market price of fossil fuel and overwhelming emission of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere have resulted in climate change and have been a global concern in this decade. Hence, biodiesel has become an alternative option to fossil diesel as it is renewable and environmentally friendly. Nevertheless, this alternative fuel that is usually derived from terrestrial oil crops will cause shortage in food supply and deforestation if mass production is realized. In recent years, cultivation of aquatic microorganism(particularly microalgae) to produce biodiesel is considered as a practical solution due to their high growth rate and ability to synthesize large quantity of lipid within their cell. However, the development of energy and cost-efficiency of microalgae cultivation system are the main issues in producing renewable microalgae biodiesel. Of late, wastewater or organic compost has been used as the cultivation medium as it can provide sufficient nutrients to sustain microalgae growth.Microalgae cultivation method and system are vitally important as these factors undoubtedly affect the final microalgae biomass and lipid yield. In this review, the cultivation system of microalgae, nutrients demanded for microalgae production, cell harvesting and drying, microalgae oil extraction, and utilization of microalgae biomass for biodiesel production are introduced and discussed. | 4 | Tuning the strength of built-in electric field in 2D/2D g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) and g-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) S-scheme heterojunctions by nonmetal doping显示文摘Single photocatalysts usually exhibit unsatisfactory performance due to the serious recombination of photogenerated electron‒hole pairs.Combining two photocatalysts to construct S-scheme heterojunction could solve this problem.In S-scheme mechanism,the interfacial built-in electric field(IEF)provides a vital driving force for efficient charge separation.Modifying the IEF is a feasible strategy to further improve the photocatalytic activity.Herein,a novel idea of tuning the strength of IEF in 2D/2D graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))/MS2(M=Sn,Zr)S-scheme heterojunctions by nonmetal doping was developed by employing density functional theory calculation.Three nonmetal elements(O,P,and S)were severally introduced into g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites.Charge density difference suggested that O and S doping led to increased interfacial electron transfer,while P doping had minimal influence.As expected,the calculated field strength of O-and S-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites was significantly larger than that of pristine and P-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) composites.Therefore,O and S doping endowed g-C_(3)N_(4)/MS_(2) Sscheme heterojunctions with enhanced IEF and more thorough charge transfer.Correspondingly,the experimentally synthesized O-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) composite exhibited better photocatalytic H2-production activity than g-C_(3)N_(4)/ZrS_(2) composite.This work proposed an original idea of employing proper nonmetal doping to magnify the advantage of S-scheme heterojunction in accelerating charge separation. | Bicheng Zhu Haiyan Tan Jiajie Fan Bei Cheng Jiaguo Yu Wingkei Ho | 2021 | Journal of Materiomics2021，7，5： | 3 |

| 6 | A Pipeline Approach to Free-Description Question Answering in Chinese Gaokao Reading Comprehension显示文摘This study attempted to answer complicated free-description questions in Chinese Gaokao Reading comprehension(RC) tasks. We found that quite a few questions can be answered by extracting sentences from the document and combining them, so we used a pipeline approach with two components:Answer sentence extraction(ASE) and Answer sentence fusion(ASF). Semantic vector similarity and topical distribution similarity were explored for ASE. Integer linear programming strategy was used for ASF, which combined dependencies with the language model, based on word importance.
