3A Multi-center,Randomized,Controlled and Open Clinical Trial of Heyan Kuntai Capsule (和颜坤泰胶囊) and Hormone Therapy in Perimenopausal Women显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Heyan Kuntai Capsule(和颜坤泰胶囊, HYKT) and hormone therapy(HT) on perimenopausal syndromes(PMSs). Methods: From 2005 to 2008, 390 women with PMSs were recruited from 4 clinic centers. The inclusion criteria included ages 40 to 60 years, estradiol(E2) below 30 ng/L, and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) above 40 IU/L, etc. The patients were randomly assigned to HYKT group or HT group by random number table method, administrated HYKT or conjugated estrogen with/without medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets for 12 months. During treatment, the patients were interviewed quarterly, Kupperman Menopausal Index(KMI) scores, hot flush scores, insomnia scores, Menopause-Specific Quality of Life(MENQOL) scores and adverse effects were used for evaluating drug efficacy and safety respectively. The last interview was made at the end of 12-month treatment. Results: After treatment, KMI scores of HYKT group and HT group were both significantly decreased compared with baseline(P<0.01) and there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05), except that KMI of HYKT group was higher after 3-month treatment(P<0.05). After treatment, hot flush and insomnia scores were both improved significantly in two groups(P<0.01); and HT had a better performance than HYKT in improving hot flush(P<0.05). MENQOL were significantly improved in both groups after treatment(P<0.01); but there was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). The incidence of adverse event in the HYKT group was much lower than that in the HT group(P<0.01). Conclusions: HYKT could effectively relieve PMSs and improve patient quality of life without severe adverse reactions. 4Features and origin time of Mesozoic strike-slip structures in the Yilan-Yitong Fault Zone显示文摘The NE-striking Yilan-Yitong Fault Zone(YYFZ) with a length of ca. 900 km is an important major fault zone in northeastern China. Its origin has been a controversial issue for a long time. Detailed field investigation and comprehensive analyses show that strike-slip faults or ductile shear belts exist as the origination structures on the both shoulders of the Cretaceous-Paleogene grabens. These strike-slip structures are dominated by brittle transcurrent faults, and appear as ductile shear belts only in the Weiyuanpu-Yehe and Shulan parts in the south and middle of the fault zone, respectively. The shear belts strike NE-SW and show steep mylonitic foliation and gentle mineral elongation lineation. Outcrop structures, microstructures and quartz c-axis fabrics demonstrate a sinistral shear sense with minor reverse component for the ductile shear belts. The microstructures suggest deformation temperatures of 400–450°C for the Weiyuanpu-Yehe shear belts and 350–400°C for the Shulan shear belt. A series of zircon U-Pb dating results for deformed and undeformed plutons or dikes in the shear belts constrain the strike-slip motion to the time between 160 and 126 Ma. It is further inferred from ages of main geological events in this region that the fault zone originated in the earliest Early Cretaceous. It is suggested therefore that the southern and middle parts of the Tan-Lu Fault Zone, which originated in Middle Triassic, propagated into northeastern China along the sinistral YYFZ under the earliest Early Cretaceous regional compression that is referred to as the Yanshan B event. 5The association between the baseline bone resorption marker CTX and incident dysglycemia after 4 years显示文摘Bone is an endocrine organ involved in modulating glucose homeostasis. The role of the bone formation marker osteocalcin(OCN) in predicting diabetes was reported, but with conflicting results. No study has explored the association between baseline bone resorption activity and incident diabetes or prediabetes during follow-up. Our objective was to examine the relationship between the baseline bone resorption marker crosslinked C-telopeptide of type I collagen(CTX) and glycemic dysregulation after 4 years. This longitudinal study was conducted in a university teaching hospital. A total of 195 normal glucose tolerant(NGT) women at baseline were invited for follow-up. The incidence of diabetes and prediabetes(collectively defined as dysglycemia) was recorded. A total of 128 individuals completed the 4-year study. The overall conversion rate from NGT to dysglycemia was 31.3%. The incidence of dysglycemia was lowest in the middle tertile [16.3%(95% confidence interval(CI), 6.8%–30.7%)] compared with the lower [31.0%(95%CI, 17.2%–46.1%)] and upper [46.5%(95% CI, 31.2%–62.6%)] tertiles of CTX, with a significant difference seen between the middle and upper tertiles(P = 0.002 5). After adjusting for multiple confounding variables, the upper tertile of baseline CTX was associated with an increased risk of incident dysglycemia, with an odds ratio of 7.09(95% CI, 1.73–28.99) when the middle tertile was the reference. 10Paddy System with a Hybrid Rice Enhances Cyanobacteria Nostoc and Increases N2 Fixation显示文摘Biological nitrogen (N) fixation (BNF) plays a significant role in maintaining soil fertility in paddy field ecosystems. Rice variety influences BNF, but how different rice varieties regulate BNF and associated diazotroph communities has not been quantified. Airtight, field-based 15N2-labelling grow th chamber experiments were used to assess the BNF capac 辻 y of different rice varie ties. In addition, both the 16S rRNA and nifH genes were sequenced to assess the influence of different rice varieties on bacterial and diazotrophic communities in paddy soils. After subjecting a rice-soil system to 74 d of continuous airtight, field-based 15N2 labelling in pots in a growth chamber, the amounts of fixed N were 22.3 and 38.9 kg ha^-1 in inbred japonica (W23) and hybrid indica (IIY) rice cultivars plan ted in the rice-soil systems, respectively, and only 1%—2.5% of the fixed N was allocated to the rice plants and weeds. A greater abundance of diazotrophs was found in the surface soil (0-1 cm) under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed significantly greater abundances of the cyanobacterial genera Nostoc, Anabaena, and Cylindrospermum under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the nifH gene also showed a significantly greater abundance of Nostoc under IIY than under W23. 11Primary Hyperparathyroidism:A Tale of Two Cities Revisited-New York and Shanghai显示文摘In the 1970s,with the advent of biochemical multichannel screening in the United States and other western countries,the clinical presentation of primary hyperparathyroidism(PHPT) changed from a symptomatic to an asymptomatic disorder.However,in Asian countries,like China,PHPT did not show this evolution,but rather continued to be a symptomatic disease with target organ involvement.In this paper,we revisit the clinical features of PHPT in New York and Shanghai,representative United States and Chinese cites,over the past decade.The questions we address are whether the disease evolved in China to a more asymptomatic one and,whether in the United States further changes are evident.The results indicate that while PHPT con-tinues to present primarily as an asymptomatic disease in the United States,a new phenotype characterized by normal serum calcium and high parathyroid hormone levels,normocalcemic PHPT,has emerged.Data from Shanghai demonstrates a trend for PHPT to present more commonly as an asymptomatic disorder in China.However,most patients with PHPT in China still manifest classical symptoms,i.e.nephrolithiasis and fractures.A comparison of the two cohorts shows that Chinese patients with PHPT are younger,with higher serum calcium and PTH levels,and lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels than patients in New York.Normocalcemic PHPT has not yet been recognized in Shanghai.In summary,although the phenotypes of PHPT in both cities are evolving towards less evident disease,sharp clinical and biochemical differences are still apparent in PHPT as expressed in China and the United States.Jian-min Liu Natalie E. 12Effects of Different Biochars on Pinus elliottii Growth,N Use Efficiency,Soil N_2O and CH_4 Emissions and C Storage in a Subtropical Area of China显示文摘Intensive management of planted forests may result in soil degradation and decline in timber yield with successive rotations.Biochars may be beneficial for plant production, nutrient uptake and greenhouse gas mitigation. Biochar properties vary widely and are known to be highly dependent on feedstocks, but their effects on planted forest ecosystem are elusive. This study investigated the effects of chicken manure biochar, sawdust biochar and their feedstocks on 2-year-old Pinus elliottii growth, fertilizer N use efficiency(NUE), soil N_2O and CH_4 emissions, and C storage in an acidic forest soil in a subtropical area of China for one year. The soil was mixed with materials in a total of 8 treatments: non-amended control(CK); sawdust at 2.16 kg m-^(2)(SD); chicken manure at 1.26 kg m-^(2)(CM); sawdust biochar at 2.4 kg m-^(2)(SDB); chicken manure biochar at 2.4 kg m-^(2)(CMB);^(15)N-fertilizer alone(10.23 atom%^(15)N)(NF); sawdust biochar at 2.4 kg m-^(2)plus15N-fertilizer(SDBN) and chicken manure biochar at 2.4 kg m-^(2)plus15N-fertilizer(CMBN). Results showed that the CMB treatment increased P. elliottii net primary production(aboveground biomass plus litterfall)and annual net C fixation(ANCF) by about 180% and 157%, respectively, while the the SDB treatment had little effect on P. elliottii growth. The15 N stable isotope labelling technique revealed that fertilizer NUE was 22.7% in CK, 25.5% in the NF treatment, and37.0% in the CMB treatment. Chicken manure biochar significantly increased soil p H, total N, total P, total K, available P and available K. Only 2% of the N in chicken manure biochar was available to the tree. The soil N_2O emission and CH_4 uptake showed no significant differences among the treatments. The apparent C losses from the SD and CM treatments were 35% and 61%, respectively;while those from the CMB and SDB treatments were negligible. 13Characterization of aroma compounds of Pu-erh ripen tea using solvent assisted flavor evaporation coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-olfactometry显示文摘Pu-erh ripen tea becomes popular worldwide owing to its unique taste and aroma.In the present study,volatile compounds from Pu-erh ripen tea were extracted using a solvent assisted flavor evaporation(SAFE)and analyzed with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and a gas chromatography olfactometry(GC-O).Results demonstrated that 58 major volatile compounds and 24 aroma active substances of Pu-erh ripen tea were identified by GC-MS and GC-O analysis.Among volatile compounds identified,methoxyphenyl compounds were considered as the dominate compounds in the aroma of Pu-erh ripen tea.Further investigation showed that 6 methoxybenzenes were responsible for the aging aroma in Pu-erh ripen tea;α-ionone,3,4-dimethoxytoluene,1,3-dimethoxybenzene,etc.were responsible for the wood-like aroma.Linalool,α-terpineol,α-ionone,β-ionone,and benzeneacetaldehyde were responsible for the floral odor.Compared the odor detection threshold(ODT)among the 8 methoxyphenyl compounds in water,1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene showed the highest ODT,followed by 3,4-dimethoxyphenol.1,3-dimethoxybenzene(105μg/L)and 1,2,3-trimethoxy-5-methylbenzene(100μg/L)were present at relatively low odor threshold values.The result indicated that methoxyphenyl compounds play a vital role in the unique flavor of Pu-erh ripen tea.Bei Wang Qing Meng Lin Xiao Ruili Li Chunhai Peng Xueli Liao Jingna Yan Honglin Liu Guanhua Xie Chi-Tang Ho Huarong Tong 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,3:6
14Toward a unified model of Altaids geodynamics:Insight from the Palaeozoic polycyclic evolution of West Junggar(NW China)显示文摘The Altaid tectonic collage extends over Central Asia, exposing numerous accretionary orogens that can account for the Palaeozoic continental crust growth. A pluridisciplinary approach, using geochronological, geochemical, structural and palaeomagnetic tools was carried out to unravel the architecture and the evolution of West Junggar(Northwestern China), a segment of the Altaid Collage. A polycyclic geodynamic evolution is inferred and includes:(1) an Early Palaeozoic cycle, characterized by the closure of two oceanic basins bounded by island-arc systems;(2) an Early Devonian subduction jamming resulting in a minor-scale collision documented by thrusting, syntectonic sedimentation and subsequent crutal thinning associated with alkaline magmatism;(3) a Late Palaeozoic cycle, driven by the evolution of two opposite subduction zones developed upon the Early Palaeozoic basement. Detailed structural analysis and paleomagnetic data provide constraints for the late evolution of Junggar in the frame of the development of the Late Palaeozoic Kazakh orocline, which led to oblique subduction and transpression in the West Junggar accretionary complex. Progressive buckling of the Kazakh orocline further resulted in Late Carboniferous to Permian wrench tectonics, and lateral displacement of lithotectonic units. Block rotations that continued after the Late Triassic are due to diachronous intraplate reactivation. This scenario mirrors the Palaeozoic geodynamics of the Altaid Collage. Multiple Early Palaeozoic collisions of intra-oceanic arcs and micro continents have contributed to the formation of the Kazakhstan Microcontinent. Since the Late Palaeozoic, subductions formed around this microcontinent and the final oblique closure of oceanic domains resulted in the transcurrent collage of Tarim and Siberia cratons. 15Porous Pt nanoframes decorated with Bi(OH)3 as highly efficient and stable electrocatalyst for ethanol oxidation reaction显示文摘High-quality Pt-based catalysts are highly desirable for ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR),which is of critical importance for the commercial applications of direct ethanol fuel cells(DEFCs).However,most of the Pt-based catalysts have suffered from high cost and low operation durability.Herein a two-step method has been developed to synthesize porous Pt nanoframes decorated with Bi(OH)3,which show excellent catalytic activity and operation durability in both alkaline and acidic media.For example,the nanoframes show a mass activity of 6.87 A·mgPt−1 in alkaline media,which is 13.5-fold higher than that of commercial Pt/C.More importantly,the catalyst can be reactivated simply,which shows negligible activity loss after running for 180,000 s.Further in situ attenuated total reflection-infrared(ATR-IR)absorption spectroscopy and CO-stripping experiments indicate that surface Bi(OH)3 species can greatly facilitate the formation of adsorbed OH species and subsequently remove carbonaceous poison,resulting in a significantly enhanced stability towards EOR.This work may favor the tailoring of desired electrocatalysts with high activity and durability for future commercial application of DEFCs.Xiaolei Yuan Bei Jiang Muhan Cao Congyang Zhang Xiaozhi Liu Qinghua Zhang Fenglei Lyu Lin Gu Qiao Zhang 2020Nano Research2020,13,1:3

17Clinical significance of serum biochemistry changes in mice with targeted disruption of βB2-crystallin gene显示文摘AIM: To explore the pathogenesis, influencing factors, ways of medical intervention and evaluation indicators of cataract by observing changes in serum biochemical indices in mice with targeted disruption of βB2-crystallin. · METHODS: Nine 6-week-old male mice with targeted knockout of βB2-crystallin were used as the study group, and nine age- and sex-matched normal wild-type mice as the control group. The genetype of the modeled mice was identified by PCR technique. Tropicamide and phenylephrine eye drops were used as the cycloplegic agents to observe changes in lens opacity with a slit-lamp. The lens was then removed and blood was collected for biochemical evaluation in the serum. · RESULTS: Two genotypes were successfully identified by PCR technique. Slit-lamp observation showed that the lens cortex was opaque and GSH level in the lens cortex was remarkably decreased in mice with βB2-crystallin deficiency compared with the control group (P <0.01). Serum Na+, Cl-, Ca2+, Mg2+ and Fe2+ levels, ALT and AST activities, and TP, ALP, Cr, TC, GLU content were decreased significantly compared with the control group (P <0.05). 20Protective effect of paeoniflorin on H_(2)O_(2) induced Schwann cells injury based on network pharmacology and experimental validation显示文摘This study was to investigate the protective effect of paeoniflorin(PF)on hydrogen peroxide-induced injury.Firstly,“SMILES”of PF was searched in Pubchem and further was used for reverse molecular docking in Swiss Target Prediction database to obtain potential targets.Injury-related molecules were obtained from GeenCards database,and the predicted targets of PF for injury treatment were selected by Wayne diagram.For mechanism analysis,the protein-protein interactions were constructed by String,and the KEGG analysis was conducted in Webgestalt.Then,cell viability and cytotoxicity assay were established by CCK8 assay.Also,the experimental cells were allocated to control,model(200μmol·L^(−1) H_(2)O_(2)),SB20358010μmol·L^(−1)(200μmol·L^(−1) H_(2)O_(2)+SB20358010μmol·L^(−1)),PF 50μmol·L^(−1)(200μmol·L^(−1) H_(2)O_(2)+PF 50μmol·L^(−1)),and PF 100μmol·L^(−1)(200μmol·L^(−1) H_(2)O_(2)+PF 100μmol·L^(−1))groups.We measured the intracellular ROS,Hoechst 33258 staining,cell apoptosis,the levels of Bcl-xl,Bcl-2,Caspase-3,Cleaved-caspase3,Cleaved-caspase7,TRPA1,TRPV1,and the phosphorylation expression of p38MAPK.There are 96 potential targets that may be associated with PF for injury treatment.Then,we chose the“Inflammatory mediator regulation of TRP channels”pathway for the experimental verification from the first 10 KEGG pathway.In experimental verification,H_(2)O_(2) decreased the cell viability moderately(P<0.05),and 100μmol·L^(−1) PF increased the cell viability significantly(P<0.05).Depending on the difference of intracellular ROS fluorescence intensity,PF inhibited H_(2)O_(2)-induced reactive oxygen species production in Schwann cells.In Hoechst 33258 staining,PF reversed the condensed chromatin and apoptotic nuclei following H_(2)O_(2) treatment.Moreover,Flow cytometry results showed that PF could substantially inhibit H_(2)O_(2) induced apoptosis(P<0.05).Pretreatment with PF obviously reduced the levels of Caspase3,Cleaved-caspase3,Cleaved-caspase7,TRPA1,TRPV1,and the phosphorylation expression of p38MAPK after H_(2)O_(2) treatment(P<0.05),increased the levels of Bcl-2,and Bcl-xl(P<0.05).PF inhibited Schwann cell injury and apoptosis induced by hydrogen peroxide,which mechanism was linked to the inhibition of phosphorylation of p38MAPK.ZHANG Di YANG Bing CHANG Shi-Quan MA Sheng-Suo SUN Jian-Xin YI Lin LI Xing SHI Hui-Mei JING Bei ZHENG Ya-Chun ZHANG Chun-Lan CHEN Feng-Guo ZHAO Guo-Ping 2021Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,2:3
