1OXIDATION BEHAVIOR OF KOVAR ALLOY IN CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE显示文摘Controlled oxidation experiments were performed on Kovar alloy by changing oxidation atmosphere, temperature, and exposure time to produce films with different oxide type and thickness. The results indicated that single Fe3O4 and single FeO were respectively obtained when Kovar alloy was oxidized in N2-2.31%H2O-0.95%H2 at 500℃ and in N2-2.31%H2O-0.5%H2 at 1000℃, and all kinetic curves followed linear relation; mixed oxides of FeO and Fe3O4 formed when Kovar was oxidized in N2-2.31%H2O at 1000℃, and parabolic kinetics were obeyed. Analysis of metal-lographic cross section of oxides indicated that oxygen diffusion inward through the oxide scale is responsible for intergranular oxide, which had formed beneath the oxide scales when the oxide products were mixed oxides of FeO and Fe3O4, and which did not occur when the oxide was single FeO or Fe3O4. 2THE APPARENT VISCOSITY OF SEMI-SOLID AZ91D ALLOY AT STEADY STATE显示文摘The Rheological behavior of semi-solid AZ91D at steady state is studied using a Couettetype viscometer in the present paper. The results show that the apparent viscosity ofsemi-solid AZ91D at the steady state increases with the solid fraction increasing, andgoes up sharply when the solid fraction reaches a certain value, which is called criticalfraction. In addition, the apparent viscosity of semi-solid AZ91D at the steady statetakes on a distinct downtrend with the shearing rate increasing, which indicates astrong shear thinning property. In addition, the critical solid fraction becomes higherunder larger shearing rate, owing to the more globular shape of the solid particles.Based on the present experiment results, an empirical equation is built as that, relatingthe steady state apparent viscosity of semi-solid AZ91D with the solid fraction fs andshearing rate γ at the same time: ηapp=10. 74exp(6.95fs)γ-0.86.Z.S. 3An Inverse Approach for Extracting Elastic-plastic Properties of Thin Films from Small Scale Sharp Indentation显示文摘An inverse method for extracting the elastic-plastic properties of metallic thin films from instrumented sharp indentation has been proposed in terms of dimensional analysis and finite element modeling.A wide range of materials with different elastic modulus,yield strength,and strain-hardening exponent were examined.Similar to the Nix-Gao model for the depth dependence of hardness H,(H/H0)2=1+h*Hh,the relationship between elastic modulus E and indentation depth h can be expressed as(E/E0)4=1+h*Eh.By combining these two formulas,we find that there is a relationship between yield stress σ y and indentation depth h:σy = σy0·(1+h*Hh)f(n)·(1+h*Eh)[0.25-0.54f(n)],where σ y0 is the yield strength associated with the strainhardening exponent n,the true hardness H0 and the true elastic modulus E0.f(n)= 1/2(1-n) is constant,which is only related to n,and h*H and h*E are characteristic lengths for hardness and elastic modulus.The results obtained from inverse analysis show that the elastic-plastic properties of thin films can be uniquely extracted from the solution of this relationship when the indentation size effect has to be taken into account.Z.S. 4VERIFICATION AND COMPARISON OF FORMULAS FOR BED LOAD TRANSPORT显示文摘WT5”BZ]Several typical formulas for bed load transport are examined based on field data in this paper. It is concluded that, the Einstein formula provides good estimates for the bed load transport rate while other ones predict much lower transport rates. The main reason for the under-prediction is that D p, the effective diameter of particles, is too large as a representative diameter of the bed material for gravel streams with partially movable bed.
