1Spatial patterns of plant diversity and communities in Alpine ecosystems of the Hengduan Mountains, northwest Yunnan, China显示文摘Aims Conduct a quantitative,but rapid,regional-level assessment of the alpine flora across northwest Yunnan(NWY)to provide a broadbased understanding of local and regional patterns of the composition,diversity and health of alpine ecosystems across NWY.Methods A stratified random sampling design was employed to select sites across the different mountain ranges of NWY.Vegetation was sampled by stratifying each site by the three major alpine vegetation community types:meadow,dwarf shrub and scree.Two 50-m transects were randomly located within each community type at each sampling site with 101-m^(2) subplots systematically placed along each transect.Environmental variables were recorded at each transect.Multivariate analyses were used to classify the major plant community assemblages and link community patterns to environmental and habitat variables.Important Findings Forb species richness varied from 19 to 105 species per site(21 sites total)with an average of 59 species per site(60 m^(2) sampled per site).Most species were patchily distributed with narrow distributions and/or small population sizes;over half the species occurred at only one or two sites.Distinct species assemblages were identified in the meadow vegetation that was strongly aggregated by geographic location suggesting the presence of distinct phytogeographic zones of the meadow alpine flora.Elevation and geographic location were the dominant environmental gradients underlying the variations in species composition.Jaccard’s coefficient of similarity averaged only 10%among sites indicating there was little similarity in the alpine flora across the region.The alpine vegetation is highly heterogeneous across the complex landscape of the Hengduan Mountains of NWY.Conservation strategies need to take into account the large geographic differences in the flora to maximize protection of biodiversity.Ruth Sherman Renee Mullen Li Haomin Fang Zhendong Wang Yi 2008Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,2:20

3Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the graphene era显示文摘Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) have been the subject of interdisciplinary research in the fields of chemistry, physics,materials science, and biology. Notably, PAHs have drawn increasing attention since the discovery of graphene, which has been regarded as the 'wonder' material in the 21 st century. Different from semimetallic graphene, nanoscale graphenes, such as graphene nanoribbons and graphene quantum dots, exhibit finite band gaps owing to the quantum confinement, making them attractive semiconductors for next-generation electronic applications. Researches based on PAHs and graphenes have expanded rapidly over the past decade, thereby posing a challenge in conducting a comprehensive review. This study aims to interconnect the fields of PAHs and graphenes, which have mainly been discussed separately. In particular, by selecting representative examples, we explain how these two domains can stimulate each other. 6Early pancreatic cancer in Ig G4-related pancreatic mass:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND IgG4-related disease can manifest diversely,including autoimmune pancreatitis and IgG4-related cholangiopathy.We are reporting a very unusual cause of pancreatic cancer triggered in a previously unknown IgG4-related disease.CASE SUMMARY A 75-year-old man was diagnosed with a 43 mm×33 mm pancreatic head tumor after consulting for abdominal pain and jaundice.A pancreaticoduodenectomy was carried out uneventfully,and the histopathology report showed an early stage of acinar-cell pancreatic cancer.The patient reconsulted on the 30th postoperative day with fever,jaundice and asthenia.Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography evidenced an extense bile duct stricture.A percutaneous biliary drainage proved to be ineffective,even after exchanging it with larger bore drainage.Reviewing the surgical specimen,features compatible with IgG4-related disease were observed.Consequently,empiric treatment with steroids was initiated achieving excellent results.CONCLUSION IgG4-related disease may cause chronic inflammation of the pancreas and can condition pancreatic malignancies.Juan Glinka Francisco Calderón Martín de Santibanes Sung Ho Hyon Adrián Gadano Eduardo Mullen Melina Pol Juan Spina Eduardo de Santibanes 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2019,11,12:3
7Acetytation of ACAP4 regutates CCL18-elicited breast cancer cell migration and invasion显示文摘Tumor metastasis represents the main causes of cancer-related death.Our recent study showed that chemokine CCL18 secreted from tumor-associated macrophages regulates breast tumor metastasis,but the underlying mechanisms remain less clear.Here, we show that ARF6 GTPase-activating protein ACAP4 regulates CCL18-elicited breast cancer cell migration via the acetyltransferase PCAF-mediated acetylation.CCL18 stimulation elicited breast cancer cell migration and invasion via PCAF-dependent acetylation.ACAP4 physically interacts with PCAF and is a cognate substrate of PCAF during CCL18 stimulation.The acetylation site of ACAP4 by PCAF was mapped to Lys311 by mass spectrometric analyses.Importantly,dynamic acetylation of ACAP4 is essential for CCL18-induced breast cancer cell migration and invasion,as overexpression of the persistent acetylation-mimicking or nonacetylatable ACAP4 mutant blocked CCL18-elicited cell migration and invasion.Mechanistically,the acetylation of ACAP4 at Lys311 reduced the lipid-binding activity of ACAP4 to ensure a robust and dynamic cycling of ARF6-ACAP4 complex with plasma membrane in response to CCL18 stimulation.Thus,these results present a previously undefined mechanism by which CCL18-elicited acetylation of the PH domain controls dynamic interaction between ACAP4 and plasma membrane during breast cancer cell migration and invasion.Xiaoyu Song Wei Liu Xiao Yuan Jiying Jiang Wanjuan Wang McKay Mullen Xuannv Zhao Yin Zhang Fusheng Liu Shihao Du Adeel Rehman Ruijun Tian Jian Li Andra Frost Zhenwei Song Hadiyah-Nicole Green Calmour Henry Xing Liu Xia Ding Dongmei Wang Xuebiao Yao 2018Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2018,10,6:3
8Alpine Ecosystems of Northwest Yunnan,China:an Initial Assessment for Conservation显示文摘Implementing conservation actions on-the-ground is not a straightforward process,especially when faced with high scientific uncertainty due to limited available information. This is especially acute in regions of the world that harbor many unique species that have not been well studied,such as the alpine zone of the Hengduan Mountains of Northwest Yunnan (NWY),a global biodiversity hotspot and site of The Nature Conservancy’s Yunnan Great Rivers Project. We conducted a quantitative,but rapid regional-level assessment of the alpine flora across NWY to provide a broad-based understanding of local and regional patterns of the alpine flora,the first large-scale analysis of alpine biodiversity patterns in this region. Multivariate analyses were used to classify the major plant community types and link community patterns to habitat variables. Our analysis indicated that most species had small distributions and/or small population sizes. Strong patterns emerged with higher diversity in the more northern mountains,but beta diversity was high,averaging only 10% among sites. The ordinations indicated that elevation and geographic location were the dominant environ-mental gradients underlying the differences in the species composition among communities. The high beta diversity across the alpine of these mountains implies that conservation strategies ultimately will require the protection of large numbers of species over a large geographical area. However,prioritiza-tion should be given to areas where potential payoffs are greatest.
