| 1 | Autoantibody to MOG suggests two distinct clinical subtypes of NMOSD显示文摘We characterized a unique group of patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder(NMOSD) who carried autoantibodies of aquaporin-4(AQP4) and myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein(MOG). Among the 125 NMOSD patients, 10(8.0%) were AQP4- and MOG-ab double positive, and 14(11.2%) were MOG-ab single positive. The double-positive patients had a multiphase disease course with a high annual relapse rate(P=0.0431), and severe residual disability(P<0.0001). Of the double-positive patients, 70% had MS-like brain lesions, more severe edematous, multifocal regions on spinal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), pronounced decreases of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and atrophy of optic nerves. In contrast, patients with only MOG-ab had a higher ratio of monophasic disease course and mild residual disability. Spinal cord MRI illustrated multifocal cord lesions with mild edema, and brain MRIs showed more lesions around lateral ventricles. NMOSD patients carrying both autoantibodies to AQP4 and MOG existed and exhibited combined features of prototypic NMO and relapsing-remitting form of MS, whereas NMOSD with antibodies to MOG only exhibited an 'intermediate' phenotype between NMOSD and MS. | 2 | Attribution of PM_(2.5) exposure in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to emissions:implication to control strategies显示文摘The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is one of the most heavily polluted regions in China,with both high PM_(2.5) concentrations and a high population density.A quantitative source-receptor relationship can provide valuable insights that can inform effective emission control strategies.Both source apportionment(SA) and source sensitivity(SS) can provide such information from different perspectives.In this study,both methods are applied in northern China to identify the most significant emission categories and source regions for PM_(2.5) exposure in BTH in 2013.Despite their differences,both models show similar distribution patterns for population and simulated PM_(2.5) concentrations,resulting in overall high PM_(2.5) exposure values(approximately 110 μg/m~) and particularly high exposure values during the winter(approximately 200 μ/m~).Both methods show that local emissions play a dominant role(70%),with some contribution from surrounding provinces(e.g.,Shandong) via regional transport.The two methods also agree on the priority of local emission controls:both identify industrial,residential,and agricultural emissions as the top three categories that should be controlled locally.In addition,the effect of controlling agricultural ammonia emissions is approximately doubled when the co-benefits of reducing nitrate are considered.The synthesis of SA and SS for addressing specific categories of emissions provides a quantitative basis for the development of emission control strategies and policies for controlling PM_(2.5)in China. | Xin Li Qiang Zhang Yang Zhang Lin Zhang Yuxuan Wang Qianqian Zhang Meng Li Yixuan Zheng Guannan Geng Timothy J.Wallington Weijian Han Wei Shen Kebin He | 2017 | Science Bulletin2017,62,13: | 15 |
| 3 | LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (LEGUE)——The survey's science plan显示文摘We describe the current plans for a spectroscopic survey of millions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy using the Guo Shou Jing Telescope (GSJT, formerly called the Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope - LAMOST). The survey will obtain spectra for 2.5 million stars brighter than r < 19 during dark/grey time, and 5 million stars brighter than r < 17 or J < 16 on nights that are moonlit or have low transparency. The survey will begin in the fall of 2012, and will run for at least four years. The telescope's design constrains the optimal declination range for observations to 10 < δ < 50 , and site conditions lead to an emphasis on stars in the direction of the Galactic anticenter. The survey is divided into three parts with different target selection strategies: disk, anticenter, and spheroid. The resulting dataset will be used to study the merger history of the Milky Way, the substructure and evolution of the disks, the nature of the first generation of stars through identification of the lowest metallicity stars, and star formation through study of open clusters and OB associations. | 6 | Factors influencing the natural regeneration of arrow bamboo in giant panda habitat of the north Minshan Mountains,southwestern China显示文摘To determine the effects of eco-factors on the regeneration of arrow bamboo in giant panda habitat,a field study was conducted in the Baozuo and Gonggangling Nature Reserves,Sichuan Province,China.A total of 183 quadrats(10 m×10 m) and 717 small quadrats(1 m×1 m) were investigated within the study site.Bamboo seedling density was used as an indicator of natural regeneration.Twelve factors were measured,which included topography and forest factors(elevation,slope aspect,slope degree,slope position,canopy cover,and shrub cover) and microhabitat factors(upper vegetation cover,herb cover,litter layer cover,moss cover,moss thickness,and dead bamboo density).A One-Way ANOVA was used to analyze the effects of topography and forest factors on seedling density,and a GLM(Generalized Linear Model) procedure was performed to examine the relationship between seedling density and microhabitat factors.The results indicated that elevation and canopy cover had highly significant effects on seedling density:bamboo seedling density was highest and showed the best regeneration at middle elevations(2800-3000 m) and under medium to medium-high canopy cover.Moss thickness,moss cover,and dead bamboo density were the most important microhabitat factors influencing the natural regeneration of bamboo:seedling density increased with increasing moss cover and moss thickness and decreased with increasing dead bamboo density.We propose that removal of dead bamboo and controlling grazing activities may accelerate the process of bamboo regeneration. | LI Bo ZHANG Man ZHONG Xue MOERMOND Timothy RAN JiangHong YANG XuYu | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,17: | 4 |

| 11 | Predictors and long-term prognosis of early and late recurrence for patients undergoing hepatic resection of hepatocellular carcinoma: a large-scale multicenter study显示文摘Recurrence is common among patients undergoing hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),which greatly limits long-term survival.We aimed to identify predictors and long-term prognosis of early and late recurrence after HCC resection.Methods:Multicenter data of patients who underwent HCC resection between 2002 and 2016 were analyzed.Recurrence was divided into early(≤2 years)and late recurrence(>2 years after surgery).Predictors of early and late recurrence,and prognostic factors of post-recurrence survival(PRS)were identified by univariate and multivariate analyses.Results:Among 1,426 patients,554(38.8%)and 348(24.4%)developed early and late recurrence,respectively.Independent predictors associated with early recurrence included preoperative alpha-fetoprotein level>400μg/L,resection margin<1 cm,and tumor size>5.0 cm,multiplicity,macrovascular and microvascular invasion,and satellites of the initial tumor at the first diagnosis of HCC;independent predictors associated with late recurrence included male,cirrhosis,and tumor size>5.0 cm,multiplicity,macrovascular and microvascular invasion,and satellites of the initial tumor.Patients with early recurrence had a lower likelihood of undergoing potentially curative treatments for recurrence(37.2%vs.48.0%,P<0.001)and a worse median PRS(13.5 vs.36.6 months,P<0.001)vs.patients who had late recurrence.Multivariate analysis revealed that early recurrence and irregular postoperative surveillance were independently associated with worse PRS[hazard ratio(HR)=1.250,95%CI:1.016-1.538,P=0.035;and HR=1.983,95%CI:1.677-2.345,P<0.001].Conclusions:Predictors associated with early and late recurrence after curative resection for patients with HCC were generally same,although several did differ.Patients with late recurrence had better long-term survival than patients with early recurrence. | Wen-Tao Yan Chao Li Lan-Qing Yao Hai-Bo Qiu Ming-Da Wang Xin-Fei Xu Ya-Hao Zhou Hong Wang Ting-Hao Chen Wei-Min Gu Jian-Hong Zhong Han Wu Timothy M.Pawlik Wan Yee Lau Feng Shen Tian Yang | 2023 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2023,12,2: | 2 |
