1Life cycle and pathogenesis of hepatitis D virus:A review显示文摘Hepatitis D virus(HDV) is a defective RNA virus which requires the help of hepatitis B virus(HBV) virus for its replication and assembly of new virions. HDV genome contains only one actively transcribed open reading frame which encodes for two isoforms of hepatitis delta antigen. Post-translational modifications of small and large delta antigens(S-HDAg and L-HDAg) involving phosphorylation and isoprenylation respectively con- fer these antigens their specific properties. S-HDAg is required for the initiation of the viral genome replica- tion, whereas L-HDAg serves as a principal inhibitor of replication and is essential for the assembly of new virion particles. Immune mediation has usually been implicated in HDV-associated liver damage. The patho- genesis of HDV mainly involves interferon-α signaling inhibition, HDV-specific T-lymphocyte activation and cytokine responses, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha and nuclear factor kappa B signaling. Due to limited protein coding capacity, HDV makes use of host cel- lular proteins to accomplish their life cycle processes, including transcription, replication, post-transcriptional and translational modifications. This intimate host- pathogen interaction significantly alters cell proteome and is associated with an augmented expression of pro-inflammatory, growth and anti-apoptotic factorswhich explains severe necroinflammation and increased cell survival and an early progression to hepatocellular carcinoma in HDV patients. The understanding of the process of viral replication, HBV-HDV interactions, and etio-pathogenesis of the severe course of HDV infection is helpful in identifying the potential therapeutic targets in the virus life cycle for the prophylaxis and treatment of HDV infection and complications.Zaigham Abbas Rafia Afzal 2013World Journal of Hepatology2013,5,12:6
2Roles of different fertilizer management practices on mulberry leaf yield and quality显示文摘Effects of fertilizer management practices on leaf yield and quality of mulberry plant are important for sustainable mulberry plant production. This study was undertaken to improve the growth, yield and biochemical contents in an instant available form in mulberry plant through different fertilizer management practices. There were four fertilizer management practices like control(CT),basal(BS),urea+magic growth(UM)and basal+urea+magic growth(BUM)were applied on mulberry plant(Morus SPP.).Results of this investigation revealed that among the various fertilizer treatments on the foliar application of(3 g urea+3 mL magic growth)per liter water with BSRTI recommended BS of NPK performed well in respect of growth parameters and biochemical constituents. The highest 10 leaf area(638.64 cm^(2)),leaf number per branch(50),total leaf weight per plant(785.64 g),node per meter(28.67),specific leaf weight(0.005817 g/cm^(2)),length of longest shoot(173.25 cm)and total leaf yield per hectare per year(41610 kg)were noticed in BUM treatment followed by UM,BS and CT treatments.Further the highest moisture(74.38%),moisture retention capacity(33.31%),total mineral(12.10%),total sugar(3.99%),reducing sugar(4.05%),crude protein(21.01%),starch(9.72%)and soluble carbohydrate(11.41%)were also recorded in BUM treatment as compare to UM,BS and CT treatments. The outcome of research implies that among the four fertilizer management practices foliar spray of(3 g urea+3 mL magic growth)per liter water with BSRTI recommended BS dose of NPK performed well and successfully augments the productivity and biochemical constituents of mulberry plant.Faruque Ahmed Rafia Sultana Oli Ahmed Md.Akhtaruzzaman Md.Toufiq Iqbal 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,5:2

4Papaya Ring Spot Virus:An Understanding of a Severe Positive-Sense Single Stranded RNA Viral Disease and Its Management显示文摘Viral diseases have been studied in-depth for reducing quality, yield, health and longevity of the fruit,to highlight the economic losses.Positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses are more devastating among all viruses that infect fruit trees. One of the best examples is papaya ringspot virus(PRSV).It belongs to the genus Potyvirus and it is limited to cause diseases on the family Chenopodiaceae,Cucurbitaceae and Caricaceae. This virus has a serious threat to the production of papaya, which is famous for its high nutritional and pharmaceutical values. The plant parts such as leaves, latex, seeds, fruits, bark, peel and roots may contain the biological compound that can be isolated and used in pharmaceutical industries as a disease control.Viral disease symptoms consist of vein clearing and yellowing of young leaves.Distinctive ring spot patterns with concentric rings and spots on fruit reduce its quality and taste. The virus has two major strains P and W.The former cause disease in papaya and cucurbits while the later one in papaya.Virion comprises 94.4%protein,including a 36 kDa coat protein which is a component responsible for a non-persistent transmission through aphids, and 5.5%nucleic acid.Cross protection, development of transgenic crops, exploring the resistant sources and induction of pathogen derived resistance have been recorded as effective management of PRSV.Along with these practices reduced aphid population through insecticides and plant extracts have been found ecofriendly approaches to minimize the disease incidence.Adoption of transgenic crops is a big challenge for the success of disease resistant papaya crops. The aim of this review is to understand the genomic nature of PRSV,detection methods and the different advanced control methods. This review article will be helpful in developing the best management strategies for controlling PRSV.Muhammad Umer Mustansar Mubeen Yasir Iftikhar Haider Ali Muhammad Zafar-ul-Hye Rafia Asghar Mazhar Abbas Malik Abdul Rehman Ernesto A.Moya-Elizondo Yuejun He 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,10:1

18Plant Nitrogen Metabolism: Balancing Resilience to Nutritional Stress andAbiotic Challenges显示文摘Plant growth and resilience to abiotic stresses, such as soil salinity and drought, depend intricately on nitrogen metabolism. This review explores nitrogen’s regulatory role in plant responses to these challenges, unveiling a dynamic interplay between nitrogen availability and abiotic stress. In the context of soil salinity,a nuanced rela-tionship emerges, featuring both antagonistic and synergistic interactions between salinity and nitrogen levels.Salinity-induced chlorophyll depletion in plants can be alleviated by optimal nitrogen supplementation;however, excessive nitrogen can exacerbate salinity stress. We delve into the complexities of this interaction and its agri-cultural implications.Nitrogen,a vital element within essential plant structures like chloroplasts, elicits diverse responses based on its availability. This review comprehensively examines manifestations of nitrogen deficiency and toxicity across various crop types, including cereals, vegetables, legumes, and fruits.Furthermore,we explore the broader consequences of nitrogen products, such as N_(2)O,NO_(2),and ammonia,on human health.Understand-ing the intricate relationship between nitrogen and salinity, especially chloride accumulation in nitrate-fed plants and sodium buildup in ammonium-fed plants,is pivotal for optimizing crop nitrogen management. However, prudent nitrogen use is essential,as overapplication can exacerbate nitrogen-related issues.Nitrogen Use Effi-ciency(NUE)is of paramount importance in addressing salinity challenges and enhancing sustainable crop productivity.Achieving this goal requires advancements in crop varieties with efficient nitrogen utilization,pre-cise timing and placement of nitrogen fertilizer application, and thoughtful nitrogen source selection to mitigate losses, particularly urea-based fertilizer volatilization. This review article delves into the multifaceted world of plant nitrogen metabolism and its pivotal role in enabling plant resilience to nutritional stress and abiotic challenges. It offers insights into future directions for sustainable agriculture.Muhammad Farhan Manda Sathish Rafia Kiran Aroosa Mushtaq Alaa Baazeem Ammarah Hasnain Fahad Hakim Syed Atif Hasan Naqvi Mustansar Mubeen Yasir Iftikhar Aqleem Abbas Muhammad Zeeshan Hassan Mahmoud Moustafa 2024Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2024,93,3:0
