2Groundwater contributions in water-salt balances of the lakes in the Badain Jaran Desert,China显示文摘Groundwater-fed lakes are essential for the ecology in arid and semiarid regions.As a typical arid region,the Badain Jaran Desert (BJD) is famous in the world for the presence of a large number of groundwater-fed saline lakes among the mega dunes.Based on the up to date geological surveys and observations,this study analyzed the groundwater contributions in water-salt balances of the lakes in the desert.We found different types of springs,including the sublacustrine springs that indicate an upward flow of groundwater under the lakebed.A simplified water balance model was developed to analyze the seasonal variations of water level in the Sumu Barun Jaran Lake,which revealed an approximately steady groundwater discharge in the lake and explained why the amplitude of seasonal changes in lake level is less than 0.5 m.In addition,a salt balance model was developed to evaluate the salt accumulations in the groundwater-fed lakes.The relative salt accumulation time is 800–7,000 years in typical saline lakes,which were estimated from the concentration of Cl-,indicating a long history evolution for the lakes in the BJD.Further researches are recommended to provide comprehensive investigations on the interactions between the lakes and groundwater in the BJD.GONG Yanping WANG Xusheng HU B Xiao ZHOU Yangxiao HAO Chunbo WAN Li 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,5:7

5Effects of critical geometric parameters on the optical performance of a conical cavity receiver显示文摘The optical performance of a receiver has a great influence on the efficiency and stability of a solar thermal power system.Most of the literature focuses on the optical performance of receivers with different geometric shapes,but less research is conducted on the effects of critical geometric parameters.In this paper,the commercial software TracePro was used to investigate the effects of some factors on a conical cavity receiver,such as the conical angle,the number of loops of the helical tube,and the distance between the focal point of the collector and the aperture.These factors affect the optical efficiency,the maximum heat flux density,and the light distribution in the conical cavity.The optical performance of the conical receiver was studied and analyzed using the Monte Carlo ray tracing method.To make a reliable simulation,the helical tube was attached to the inner wall of the cavity in the proposed model.The results showed that the amount of light rays reaching the helical tube increases with the increasing of the conical angle,while the optical efficiency decreases and the maximum heat flux density increases.The increase in the number of loops contributed to an increase in the optical efficiency and a uniform light distribution.The conical cavity receiver had an optimal optical performance when the focal point of the collector was near the aperture.Hu XIAO Yanping ZHANG Cong YOU Chongzhe ZOU Quentin FALCOZ 2019Frontiers in Energy2019,13,4:3
6Effect of HS2 and HS3 elements on erythroid-specific expression in transgenic mice显示文摘The expression plasmids CMV/GFP, HS2ALL, HS3ALL and HS23ALL were selected to investigate the effect of HS2 and HS3 element on erythroid-specific expression in transgenic mice. These plasmids were digested with restriction enzymes and purified. And five DNA fragments, CMV/GFP, HS2/GFP, CMV/HS2/GFP, HS23/GFP and HS3/GFP were obtained. After purification, the above DNA fragments were microinjected into the pre-nuclei of the mice fertilized eggs and transgenic mice were generated, with an integration rate of 10.89%. The green fluorescence protein(GFP) expression in many transgenic mouse tissues was determined by FACS analysis. The results showed that the HS2 and 1.7 kb of β-globin gene promoter were sufficient for the erythroid-specific expression of β-globin gene. The GFP expression of different recombinant constructs was also analyzed in blood of all the transgenic mice with FACS. The results indicated that HS2 and HS3 had the same enhancement activity on the regulation of β-globin gene expression. 9Oxidized galectin-1 in SLE fails to bind the inhibitory receptor VSTM1 and increases reactive oxygen species levels in neutrophils显示文摘Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation,and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses.However,the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown,representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases.Here,we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1(VSTM1)is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1(Gal1)is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production.However,in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),circulating Gal1 is oxidized and cannot be recognized by VSTM1,leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species levels and reduced neutrophil viability.Dysregulated neutrophil function or death contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of SLE by providing danger molecules and autoantigens that drive the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of autoreactive lymphocytes.Interestingly,serum levels of glutathione,an antioxidant able to convert oxidized Gal1 to its reduced form,were negatively correlated with SLE disease activity.Taken together,our findings reveal failed inhibitory Gal1/VSTM1 pathway activation in patients with SLE and provide important insights for the development of effective targeted therapies.Xu Jiang Xinyue Xiao Hao Li Yiyi Gong Min Wang Huaxia Yang Lidan Zhao Ying Jiang Yanping Wei Chongchong Zhao Jin Li Yuling Chen Shan Feng Haiteng Deng Shiliang Ma Yue Xu Yudong Liu George C.Tsokos Minghong Jiang Xuan Zhan 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11:1

16Jumonji domain-containing 6 (JMJD6) identified as a potential therapeutic target in ovarian cancer显示文摘Jumonji domain-containing 6(JMJD6)is a candidate gene associated with tumorigenesis,and JMJD6 overexpression predicts poor differentiation and unfavorable survival in some cancers.However,there are no studies reporting the expression of JMJD6 in ovarian cancer,and no JMJD6 inhibitors have been developed and applied to targeted cancer therapy research.In the present study,we found that the high expression of JMJD6 in ovarian cancer was correlated with poor prognosis in ovarian cancer.A potential inhibitor(SKLB325)was designed based on the crystal structure of the jmjC domain of JMJD6.This molecule significantly suppressed proliferation and induced apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner in SKOV3 cell lines as detected by CCK-8 cell proliferation assays and flow cytometry.A Matrigel endothelial tube formation assay showed that SKLB325 inhibited capillary tube organization and migration in HUVECs in vitro.We also observed that JMJD6 colocalized with p53 protein in the nucleus,with mRNA and protein expression of p53 as well as its downstream effectors significantly increasing both in vitro and in intraperitoneal tumor tissues treated with SKLB325.In addition,SKLB325 significantly reduced the intraperitoneal tumor weight and markedly prolonged the survival of tumor-bearing mice.Taken together,our findings suggest that JMJD6 may be a marker of poor prognosis in ovarian cancer and that SKLB325 may be a potential candidate drug for the treatment of ovarian cancer.Heng Zheng Yan Tie Zhen Fang Xiaoai Wu Tao Yi Shuang Huang Xiao Liang Yanping Qian Xi Wang Ruyu Pi Siyuan Chen Yong Peng Shengyong Yang Xia Zhao Xiawei Wei 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:1

20Effect of Refrigerant on the Performance of a C3/MRC Liquefaction Process显示文摘The Mixed Refrigerant(MR)component is an important factor influencing the performances of natural gas lique-faction processes.However,there is a lack of systematic research about the utilization of propane pre-cooled(C3/MRC).In this paper,this mixed refrigerant cycle liquefaction process is simulated using the HYSYS software and the main influential parameters involved in the process are varied to analyze their influence on the liquefaction rate and power consumption.The results show that an effective way for lowering the power consumption of the compressor consists of reducing the flow through the compressor through optimization of the percentage of mixed refrigerant.The power consumption of the compressor in the hybrid refrigeration process is affected by both flow and pressure ratios.Its specific power consumption can be reduced by increasing the flow and decreasing the pressure ratio at the same time.The increase in refrigerant pressure at the high-pressure end can significantly mitigate the energy loss of the heat exchanger and compressor.Xiao Wu Zhaoting Wang Longfei Dong Yanping Xin Tianshu Yu 2023Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2023,19,1:0
