Gilbert's syndrome: High frequency of the (TA)_7 TAA allele in India and its interaction with a novel CAT insertion in promoter of the gene for bilirubin UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1 gene显示文摘瞄准:在吉伯的症候群(GS ) 在 UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1 (UGT1A1 ) 基因识别变体并且在印度在正常控制之中在 TA 插入和它的影响的印度,以及频率为 TA 插入和 GS 估计在纯合性之间的协会。 | Shabana Farheen Sanghamitra Sengupta Amal Santra Suparna Pal Gopal Krishna Dhali Meenakshi Chakravorty Partha P Majumder Abhijit Chowdhury | 2006 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2006,12,14: | 29
High-speed colour-converting photodetector with all-inorganic CsPbBr_(3) perovskite nanocrystals for ultraviolet light communication显示文摘Optical wireless communication(OWC)using the ultra-broad spectrum of the visible-to-ultraviolet(UV)wavelength region remains a vital field of research for mitigating the saturated bandwidth of radio-frequency(RF)communication.However,the lack of an efficient UV photodetection methodology hinders the development of UV-based communication. The key technological impediment is related to the low UV-photon absorption in existing silicon photodetectors, which offer low-cost and mature platforms. To address this technology gap,we report a hybrid Sibased photodetection scheme by incorporating CsPbBr_(3) perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)with a high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)and a fast photoluminescence(PL)decay time as a UV-to-visible colourconverting layer for high-speed solar-blind UV communication. The facile formation of drop-cast CsPbBr_(3) perovskite NCs leads to a high PLQY of up to ~73% and strong absorption in the UV region. With the addition of the NC layer,a nearly threefold improvement in the responsivity and an increase of ~25% in the external quantum efficiency(EQE)of the solar-blind region compared to a commercial silicon-based photodetector were observed. Moreover, timeresolved photoluminescence measurements demonstrated a decay time of 4.5 ns under a 372-nm UV excitation source, thus elucidating the potential of this layer as a fast colour-converting layer.A high data rate of up to 34 Mbps in solar-blind communication was achieved using the hybrid CsPbBr_(3)-silicon photodetection scheme in conjunction with a 278-nm UVC light-emitting diode(LED).These findings demonstrate the feasibility of an integrated high-speed photoreceiver design of a composition-tuneable perovskite-based phosphor and a low-cost silicon-based photodetector for UV communication. | Chun Hong Kang Ibrahim Dursun Guangyu Liu Lutfan Sinatra Xiaobin Sun Meiwei Kong Jun Pan Partha Maity Ee-Ning Ooi Tien Khee Ng Omar F.Mohammed Osman M.Bakr Boon S.Ooi | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 14
Nano zinc, an alternative to conventional zinc as animal feed supplement:A review显示文摘The uniqueness of Zn is that, it is the second most abundant trace element in the animal body but can't be stored in the body, thus regular dietary intake is required. Zinc oxide(ZnO) nanoparticles(NP) particles are being extensively used in paints, skin lotions pigments, food, electronics appliances, biological and pharmaceutical applications and many more. Zinc oxide nanoparticles are the specially prepared mineral salt having particle size of 1 to 100 nm. It promotes growth can act as antibacterial agent, modulates the immunity and reproduction of the animals. Both in lower and higher doses of specifications it has exhibited a variety of effects on animal performances. Apart from being highly bioavailable, reports have already pointed out the growth promoting, antibacterial, immuno-modulatory and many more effects of nano zinc(nZn). These can be used at lower doses and can provide better result than the conventional Zn sources and indirectly prevents environmental contamination also. The toxicological studies provide mixed results in animal models. Studies been undertaken in diversified animal species and encouraging effects have been reported with nZn supplementation. However, there is a need to optimize the dose and duration of ZnO NP supplementation for human and livestock, depending on its biological effects. Actual bioavailability of ZnO NP in livestock is still to be worked out.In this review we have attempted to summarize, conclude the beneficial effects of nZnO and its possible usage as mineral supplement to different categories of human and livestock. | Partha S.Swain Somu B.N.Rao Duraisamy Rajendran George Dominic Sellappan Selvaraju | 2016 | Animal Nutrition2016,,3: | 11
Significant increase in HBV, HCV, HIV and syphilis infections among blood donors in West Bengal, Eastern India 2004-2005: Exploratory screening reveals high frequency of occult HBV infection显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the prevalence of markers of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among blood donors in Kolkata, Eastern India for two consecutive years and to conduct a pilot study to explore the presence of HBV DNA among hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative but anti-HBc positive blood donors. METHODS: Seroprevalence of HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti-HIV was studied among 113 051 and 106 695 voluntary blood donors screened in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Moreover, a pilot study on 1027 HBsAg negative donors was carried out for evaluating the presence of HBV DNA by PCR on HBsAg negative/anti- HBc positive donors. RESULTS: A statistically significant increase in the prevalence of HBV (1448 vs 1768, P < 0.001), HIV (262 vs 374, P < 0.001), HCV (314 vs 372, P = 0.003) and syphilis (772 vs 853, P = 0.001) infections was noted among blood donors of Kolkata West Bengal in 2005 as compared to 2004. Moreover, the exploratory study on 1027 HBsAg negative donors revealed that 188 (18.3%)of them were anti-HBc positive out of which 21% were positive for HBV DNA. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study underscore the significantly increasing endemicity of hepatitis viruses, syphilis and HIV among the voluntary blood donors of our community. The pilot study indicates a high rate of prevalence of HBV DNA among HBsAg negative/anti-HBc positive donors and thus emphasizes the need for a more sensitive and stringent screening algorithm for blood donations. | Prasun Bhattacharya Partha Kumar Chandra Sibnarayan Datta Arup Banerjee Subhashish Chakraborty Krishnan Rajendran Subir Kumar Basu Sujit Kumar Bhattacharya Runu Chakravarty | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,27: | 9
Structural and photoluminescence studies of Eu^(3+) doped zinc oxide nanorods prepared by precipitation method显示文摘Trivalent europium doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Eu3+) nanocrystals were synthesized via room temperature chemical co-precipitation and they were systematically characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The as-synthesized samples were found to have hexagonal wurtzite coexisted with the intermediate Zn5(OH)8Cl2·H2O phase, while the single hexagonal phase was facilitated due to the calcinations. The as obtained samples were broadly composed of nanoflakes while the highly crystalline nanorods were formed due to low temperature annealing of the as-synthesized samples. The crystallite size of the nanoflakes and nanorods (40-90 nm) were extracted from the XRD pattern which was found to be consistent with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. The photolumi-nescence (PL) spectra of nanophosphors showed bright red and orange emissions at 618 and 594 nm respectively with efficient broad blue green emission spectrum due to ZnO lattice. Further, a good energy transfer process from ZnO host to Eu3+ was observed in PL emission and excitation spectra of Eu3+ doped ZnO ions. In all, the present nanophosphors were found to have great potentiality for bio-applications. | Partha P.Pal J.Manam | 2013 | Journal of Rare Earths2013,31,1: | 8
A laser ablated graphene-based flexible self-powered pressure sensor for human gestures and finger pulse monitoring显示文摘Flexible triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs)-based pressure sensors are very essential for the wide-range applications, comprising wearable healthcare systems, intuitive human-device interfaces, electronic-skin (e-skin), and artificial intelligence. Most of conventional fabrication methods used to produce high-performance TENGs involve plasma treatment, photolithography, printing, and electro-deposition. However, these fabrication techniques are expensive, multi-step, time-consuming and not suitable for mass production, which are the main barriers for efficient and cost-effective commercialization of TENGs. Here, we established a highly reliable scheme for the fabrication of a novel eco-friendly, low cost, and TENG-based pressure sensor (TEPS) designed for usage in self-powered-human gesture detection (SP-HGD) likewise wearable healthcare applications. The sensors with microstructured electrodes performed well with high sensitivity (7.697 kPa^-1), a lower limit of detection (~ 1 Pa), faster response time (< 9.9 ms), and highly stable over > 4,000 compression-releasing cycles. The proposed method is suitable for the adaptable fabrication of TEPS at an extremely low cost with possible applications in self-powered systems, especially e-skin and healthcare applications. | Partha Sarati Das Ashok Chhetry Pukar Maharjan M. | 8 | Distribution of hepatitis B virus genotypes:Phylogenetic analysis and virological characteristics of Genotype C circulating among HBV carriers in Kolkata,Eastern India显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the genotype distribution of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in Eastern India and to clarify the phyloge- netic origin and virological characteristics of the recently identifi ed genotype C in this region. METHODS: Genotype determination, T1762/A1764 mutation in the basal core promoter (BCP) and A1896 mutation in the precore region of 230 subjects were de- termined by restriction fragment length polymorphism method (RFLP) and the result was confi rmed by direct sequencing. RESULTS: The predominant genotypes D (HBV/D) and A (HBV/A) were detected in 131/230 (57%) and 57/230 (25%) samples. In addition, genotype C (HBV/C) was detected in 42/230 (18%) isolates. Surface gene region was sequenced from 45 isolates (27 HBV/C, 9 HBV/A and 9 HBV/D). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all of the HBV/C sequences clustered with South East Asian subgenotype (HBV/Cs). The sequence data showed re- markable similarity with a Thai strain (AF068756) (99.5% ± 0.4% nucleotide identities) in 90% of the genotype C strains analyzed. T1762/A1764 mutation in BCP re- gion, associated with high ALT was signifi cantly higher in HBeAg negative isolates than HBeAg positive isolates. Frequency of A1896 mutation leading to HBeAg negativ- ity was low.CONCLUSION: The present study reports the genotypic distribution and the characteristics of partial genome sequences of HBV/C isolates from Eastern India. Low genetic diversity and confi nement of HBV/C in Eastern India possibly indicate a recent, limited, spread in this region. Genotype C with T1762/A1764 mutation has been reported to increase the risk for hepatocellular car- cinoma; therefore genotype C carriers in Eastern India should be carefully monitored. | Arup Banerjee Sibnarayan Datta Partha K Chandra Susanta Roychowdhury Chinmoy Kumar Panda Runu Chakravarty | 2006 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2006,12,37: | 3
Interleukin-6 mediates neutrophil mobilization from bone marrow in pulmonary hypertension显示文摘Myeloid cells, such as neutrophils, are produced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are important in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as pulmonary hypertension(PH).Although neutrophil recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied, the mechanisms of neutrophil egress from the bone marrow are not well understood.Using computational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrophils in the lungs of patients and mice with PH.Moreover,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of patients and mice with PH.We observed that transgenic mice overexpressing Il-6 in the lungs displayed elevated neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrophil recruitment to the lungs, resulting in exacerbated pulmonary vascular remodeling, and dysfunctional hemodynamics.Mechanistically,we found that IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow was dependent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated CX3CR1 expression in neutrophils.Consequently,Cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematopoietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrophil egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrophil counts in the lungs, thus ameliorating pulmonary remodeling and hemodynamics. In summary, these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therapeutic target to curtail neutrophil-mediated inflammation in pulmonary vascular disease. | Jonathan Florentin Jingsi Zhao Yi-Yin Tai Sathish Babu Vasamsetti Scott P.O’Neil Rahul Kumar Anagha Arunkumar Annie Watson John Sembrat Grant C.Bullock Linda Sanders Biruk Kassa Mauricio Rojas Brian B.Graham Stephen Y.Chan Partha Dutta | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,2: | 3
Effect of arc-current and spray distance on elastic modulus and fracture toughness of plasma-sprayed chromium oxide coatings显示文摘In this experimental study, chromium oxide powder was sprayed on a low-carbon steel substrate using the atmospheric plasma spray process. The current and standoff distances(SODs) were varied to study their effect on the fracture toughness of the coatings. Theoretically, as the arc current increases, the melting of the ceramic oxide should increase and this in turn should lead to the formation of a dense coating. However,it was observed that if the arc power is too high and because the particle size of the powder is small(approximately 30 μm), the particles tend to fly away from the plasma core. Similarly, an appropriate SOD should provide the particles with more melting time, thus resulting in a dense coating. On the other hand, a larger SOD leads to the solidification of the molten particles before the droplets can reach the substrate. All these effects may lead to substantial variation in the fracture toughness of the coating. The present paper attempts to correlate the plasma spraying parameters and microstructure of the coating with the fracture toughness and other primary coating properties. | Simanchal KAR Partha Pratim BANDYOPADHYAY Soumitra PAUL | 2018 | Friction2018,6,4: | 3
Liver abscess caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei in a young man: A case report and review of literature显示文摘Pyogenic liver abscess is a common entity in Indian subcontinent and is mostly caused by gram negative bacteria. Melioidosis is not commonly seen in India and only a few cases are reported. It can give rise to multiple abscesses at different sites including liver. We report a case of isolated liver abscess caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei(B. pseudomallei) in a 29-yearold recently diagnosed diabetic, immunocompetent male. Diagnosis was made by imaging and culture of pus aspirated from the abscess and he was treated with percutaneous pigtail catheter drainage followed by antibiotics(meropenem and trimethoprim-sulphmethoxazole). Melioidosis is an emerging infection in India and has high mortality rate, so early diagnosis and promptmanagement is warranted which requires clinical vigilance and an intensive microbiological workup. Clinicians should be aware of isolated liver abscess caused by B. pseudomallei in appropriate clinical settings. | Partha Pal Sayantan Ray Avijit Moulick Subhasis Dey Anirban Jana Kokila Banerjee | 2014 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2014,2,10: | 3

Hetero-gate-dielectric double gate junctionless transistor(HGJLT)with reduced band-to-band tunnelling effects in subthreshold regime显示文摘We propose a hetero-gate-dielectric double gate junctionless transistor(HGJLT), taking high-k gate insulator at source side and low-k gate insulator at drain side, which reduces the effects of band-to-band tunnelling(BTBT) in the sub-threshold region. A junctionless transistor(JLT) is turned off by the depletion of carriers in the highly doped thin channel(device layer) which results in a significant band overlap between the valence band of the channel region and the conduction band of the drain region, due to off-state drain bias, that triggers electrons to tunnel from the valence band of the channel region to the conduction band of the drain region leaving behind holes in the channel. These effects of band-to-band tunnelling increase the sub-threshold leakage current, and the accumulation of holes in the channel forms a parasitic bipolar junction transistor(n–p–n BJT for channel JLT) in the lateral direction by the source(emitter), channel(base) and drain(collector) regions in JLT structure in off-state.The proposed HGJLT reduces the subthreshold leakage current and suppresses the parasitic BJT action in off-state by reducing the band-to-band tunnelling probability. | Bahniman Ghosh Partha Mondal M.W.Akram Punyasloka Bal Akshay Kumar Salimath | 2014 | Journal of Semiconductors2014,35,6: | 2
Fine needle aspiration diagnosis of isolated pancreatic tuberculosis: A case report显示文摘Tuberculosis(TB) involving the pancreas are uncommon, especially when present in immunocompetent hosts. Pancreatic TB is more frequently associated with miliary TB or widely disseminated disease. Pancreatic TB may present as cystic or solid pancreatic masses, pancreatic abscess or acute or chronic pancreatitis. Majority of the cases are diagnosed after surgical exploration for presumed pancreatic malignancy and preoperative diagnosis is quite difficult. However, improvement in imaging techniques and the resulting imageguided interventions gradually can obviate the need for more invasive diagnostic surgical procedures and expedite the planning of therapy. Herein, we report a rare case of isolated pancreatic TB which presented with pancreatic mass lesion in an immunocompetent host. Diagnosis was made by contrast enhanced computed tomography and guided fine needle aspiration of the pancreatic mass which revealed acid-fast bacillion Ziehl-Neelsen stain. The case was treated successfully with antituberculous drugs. Pancreatic tuberculosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a pancreatic mass when the patient is young, residing in the endemic zone of tuberculosis. Every attempt should be made to diagnose the cases to prevent unnecessary operation. | Nikhil Sonthalia Sayantan Ray Partha Pal Avishek Saha Arunansu Talukdar | 2013 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2013,1,5: | 2
