2In vivo screening of essential oils of Skimmia laureola leaves for antinociceptive and antipyretic activity显示文摘Objective:To study the screening of essential oils of Skimmia laureola leaves(SLO)for acute toxicity,antinociceptive,antipyretic and anticonvulsant activities in various animal models.Methods:SLO were extracted using modified Clevenger type apparatus.Acute toxicity test was used in mice to observe its safety level.Antinociceptive activity of SLO was evaluated in acetic acid induced writhing and hot plate tests.Yeast induced hyperthermic mice and pentylenetetrazole induced convulsive mice were used for the assessment of its antipyretic and anticonvulsant profile respectively.Results:Substantial safety was observed for SLO in acute toxicity test.SLO showed a high significant activity in acetic acid induced writhing test in a dose dependent manner with maximum pain attenuation of 68.48%at 200 mg/kg i.p.However,it did not produce any relief in thermal induced pain at test doses.When challenged against pyrexia evoked by yeast,SLO manifested marked amelioration in hyperthermic mice,dose dependently.Maximum anti-hyperthermic activity(75%)was observed at 200 mg/kg i.p.after 4 h of drug administration.Nevertheless,SLO had no effect on seizures control and mortality caused by pentylenetetrazole.Conclusions:In vivo studies of SLO showed prominent antinociceptive and antipyretic activities with ample safety profile and thus provided pharmacological base for the traditional uses of the plant in various painful conditions and pyrexia.Additional detail studies are required to ascertain its clinical application.Naveed Muhammad Barkatullah Muhammad Ibrar Haroon Khan Muhammad Saeed Amir Zada Khan Waqar Ahmad Kaleem 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,3:2

11Instagram Mobile Application Digital Forensics显示文摘In this research,we developed a plugin for our automated digital forensics framework to extract and preserve the evidence from the Android and the IOS-based mobile phone application,Instagram.This plugin extracts personal details from Instagram users,e.g.,name,user name,mobile number,ID,direct text or audio,video,and picture messages exchanged between different Instagram users.While developing the plugin,we identified resources available in both Android and IOS-based devices holding key forensics artifacts.We highlighted the poor privacy scheme employed by Instagram.This work,has shown how the sensitive data posted in the Instagram mobile application can easily be reconstructed,and how the traces,as well as the URL links of visual messages,can be used to access the privacy of any Instagram user without any critical credential verification.We also employed the anti-forensics method on the Instagram Android’s application and were able to restore the application from the altered or corrupted database file,which any criminal mind can use to set up or trap someone else.The outcome of this research is a plugin for our digital forensics ready framework software which could be used by law enforcement and regulatory agencies to reconstruct the digital evidence available in the Instagram mobile application directories on both Android and IOS-based mobile phones.Muhammad Asim Mubarik Zhijian Wang Yunyoung Nam Seifedine Kadry Muhammad Azam waqar 2021Computer Systems Science & Engineering2021,37,5:0
12An updated systematic review of Zika virus-linked complications显示文摘Objective: To determine the breadth of Zika virus(ZIKV)-associated brain anomalies in neonates and adults. Methods: Systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA) statement using electronic databases ScienceDirect, Pubmed, Medline, Scopus, and Global Health Library.Only those research articles, case studies, case-control studies, case-cohort studies, crosssectional studies, and organizational survey reports were included in the study that reported any fetal outcomes for pregnant women who had infected with ZIKV during the gestational period and ZIKV-related neurological complications in adults as well. Results: Out of total 72 retrieved articles, 50 met the inclusion criteria. We estimated a significant increase in incidence of neural abnormalities such as Guillain-Barre syndrome and microcephaly in the regions that are experiencing ZIKV outbreaks. Other neurological malformations found in ZIKV patients include hydrancephaly/hydrops fetalis, myasthenia gravis,meningoencephalitis and myelitis. 13Fault Tolerant Optical Mark Recognition显示文摘OpticalMark Recognition(OMR)systems have been studied since 1970.It is widely accepted as a data entry technique.OMR technology is used for surveys and multiple-choice questionnaires.Due to its ease of use,OMR technology has grown in popularity over the past two decades and is widely used in universities and colleges to automatically grade and grade student responses to questionnaires.The accuracy of OMR systems is very important due to the environment inwhich they are used.TheOMRalgorithm relies on pixel projection or Hough transform to determine the exact answer in the document.These techniques rely on majority voting to approximate a predetermined shape.The performance of these systems depends on precise input from dedicated hardware.Printing and scanning OMR tables introduces artifacts that make table processing error-prone.This observation is a fundamental limitation of traditional pixel projection and Hough transform techniques.Depending on the type of artifact introduced,accuracy is affected differently.We classified the types of errors and their frequency according to the artifacts in the OMR system.As a major contribution,we propose an improved algorithm that fixes errors due to skewness.Our proposal is based on the Hough transform for improving the accuracy of bias correction mechanisms in OMR documents.As a minor contribution,our proposal also improves the accuracy of detecting markers in OMR documents.The results show an improvement in accuracy over existing algorithms in each of the identified problems.This improvement increases confidence in OMR document processing and increases efficiency when using automated OMR document processing.Qamar Hafeez Waqar Aslam M.Ikramullah Lali Shafiq Ahmad Mejdal Alqahtani Muhammad Shafiq 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0

15Increasing Crop Quality and Yield with a Machine Learning-Based Crop Monitoring System显示文摘Farming is cultivating the soil,producing crops,and keeping livestock.The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in a country’s economic growth.This research proposes a two-stage machine learning framework for agriculture to improve efficiency and increase crop yield.In the first stage,machine learning algorithms generate data for extensive and far-flung agricultural areas and forecast crops.The recommended crops are based on various factors such as weather conditions,soil analysis,and the amount of fertilizers and pesticides required.In the second stage,a transfer learningbased model for plant seedlings,pests,and plant leaf disease datasets is used to detect weeds,pesticides,and diseases in the crop.The proposed model achieved an average accuracy of 95%,97%,and 98% in plant seedlings,pests,and plant leaf disease detection,respectively.The system can help farmers pinpoint the precise measures required at the right time to increase yields.Anas Bilal Xiaowen Liu Haixia Long Muhammad Shafiq Muhammad Waqar 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,76,8:0

17Burden of atrial fibrillation in patients with rheumatic diseases显示文摘BACKGROUND Studies have suggested that atrial fibrillation(AF)in patients with rheumatic diseases(RD)may be due to inflammation.determine morbidity and mortality associated with AF in hospitalized patients with RD.METHODS The National inpatient sample database from October 2015 to December 2017 was analyzed to identify hospitalized patients with RD with and without AF.A subgroup analysis was performed comparing outcomes of AF among different RD.RESULTS The prevalence of AF was 23.9%among all patients with RD(n=3949203).Among the RD subgroup,the prevalence of AF was highest in polymyalgia rheumatica(33.2%),gout(30.2%),and pseudogout(27.1%).After adjusting for comorbidities,the odds of having AF were increased with gout(1.25),vasculitis(1.19),polymyalgia rheumatica(1.15),dermatopolymyositis(1.14),psoriatic arthropathy(1.12),lupus(1.09),rheumatoid arthritis(1.05)and pseudogout(1.04).In contrast,enteropathic arthropathy(0.44),scleroderma(0.96),ankylosing spondylitis(0.96),and Sjorgen’s syndrome(0.94)had a decreased association of AF.The mortality,length of stay,and hospitalization costs were higher in patients with RD having AF vs without AF.Among the RD subgroup,the highest mortality was found with scleroderma(4.8%),followed by vasculitis(4%)and dermatopolymyositis(3.5%).CONCLUSION A highest association of AF was found with gout followed by vasculitis,and polymyalgia rheumatica when compared to other RD.Mortality was two-fold higher in patients with RD with AF.Muhammad Zubair Khan Kirtenkumar Patel Krunalkumar A Patel Rajkumar Doshi Vraj Shah Devina Adalja Zainulabedin Waqar Sona Franklin Neelesh Gupta Muhammad Hamdan Gul Shruti Jesani Steven Kutalek Vincent Figueredo 2021World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,14:0
18Chaos-Based Cryptographic Mechanism for Smart Healthcare IoT Systems显示文摘Smart and interconnected devices can generate meaningful patient data and exchange it automatically without any human intervention in order to realize the Internet of Things(IoT)in healthcare(HIoT).Due to more and more online security and data hijacking attacks,the confidentiality,integrity and availability of data are considered serious issues in HIoT applications.In this regard,lightweight block ciphers(LBCs)are promising in resourceconstrained environment where security is the primary consideration.The prevalent challenge while designing an LBC for the HIoT environment is how to ascertain platform performance,cost,and security.Most of the existing LBCs primarily focus on text data or grayscale images.The main focus of this paper is about securing color images in a cost-effective way.We emphasis high confidentiality of color images captured by cameras in resource-constrained smartphones,and high confidentiality of sensitive images transmitted by low-power sensors in IoT systems.In order to reduce computational complexity and simulation time,the proposed Lightweight Symmetric Block Cipher(LSBC)exploits chaos-based confusion-diffusion operations at the inter-block level using a single round.The strength of LSBC is assessed by cryptanalysis,while it is ranked by comparing it to other privacy-preserving schemes.Our results show that the proposed cipher produces promising results in terms of key sensitivity and differential attacks,which proves that our LSBC is a good candidate for image security in HIoT.Muhammad Samiullah Waqar Aslam Arif Mehmood Muhammad Saeed Ahmad Shafiq Ahmad Adel M.Al-Shayea Muhammad Shafiq 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,4:0
19Litter decay in rangeland sites with varying history of human disturbance: a study with Hazargangi Chiltan mountain显示文摘Hazarganji Chiltan National Park in Balochistan, Pakistan was established in 1980 and the protected area was further extended in 1998. Large area of this mountain is still open for unmanaged human disturbances such as collection of wood for fuel purpose and livestock grazing. Removal of vegetation of rangelands has a significant negative impact on soil organic matter(SOM). This research evaluates litter decomposition in three sites of Hazarganji Chiltan mountain with varying history of human disturbances(unprotected site, young protected site and old protected site). Twigs of Pistacia khinjuk with approximately equal weight and length were placed in litter bags of mesh size 2 mm and were buried in 0-5 cm depth in three sites in January. Half of the twigs of each site received rain simulation in April, August, October, November and January while the other half of the twigs were subjected under natural conditions for 15 months. Twigs from each plot of each treatment of each site were collected from soil after every rain simulation in the previous month of experiment and were processed for weight loss assessment. Results showed that weight loss of twigs by decomposition was significantly higher in the soil of unprotected site as compared to other two sites and there was no difference between rain simulation and control treatments except that loss of weight of twigs of unprotected site was higher under control than rain simulation condition. To confirm that SOM was the major controlling factor for the decomposition of litter decay, soils of each site were collected and burned to remove SOM;thereafter, burned soil samples were mixed with homogenous powder of oven-dried native plants, incubated for 6 months and were provided with dissolved organic matter of the soils of each site. Results showed that there was no difference in the decomposition of litter between soils under controlled laboratory condition, which confirmed that SOM was a major controlling factor for the litter decay in soil under field conditions. 20Antimicrobial,hemagglutination and phytotoxic activity of crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Seriphidium kurramense显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the antimicrobial activity, hemagglutination and phytotoxic activity of crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Seriphidium kurramense.METHODS: The extracts were analyzed by agar well diffusion assays against five bacterial species:Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus), methicillin-resistant S. aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, and Salmonella typhi. The extracts were also screened against six fungal species — Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria solani, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium solani and Pleurotus florida — using the agar tube diffusion method. Additionally, hemagglutination and phytotoxic activities of the crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts were assessed.RESULTS: The crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts showed dose-dependent inhibition of the various tested fungal and bacterial strains. No hemagglutination activity was observed.
