| 1 | Dengue fever treatment with Carica papaya leaves extracts显示文摘The main objective of the current study is to investigate the potential of Carica papaya leaves extracts against Dengue fever in 45 year old patient bitten by carrier mosquitoes.For the treatment of Dengue fever the extract was prepared in water.25 mL of aqueous extract of C.papaya leaves was administered to patient infected with Dengue fever twice daily i.e.morning and evening for five consecutive days.Before the extract administration the blood samples from patient were analyzed.Platelets count(PLT),White Blood Cells(WBC) and Neutrophils(NEUT) decreased from 176×10~3/μ L,8.10×10~3/μ L,84.0%to 55×10~3/μ L,3.7×10~3/μL and 46.0%.Subsequently,the blood samples were rechecked after the administration of leaves extract.It was observed that the PLT count increased from 55×10~3/μ L to 168×10~3/μ L,WBC from 3.7×10~3/μ L to 7.7×10~3/μ L and NEUT from 46.0%to 78.3%.From the patient feelings and blood reports it showed that Carica papaya leaves aqueous extract exhibited potential activity against Dengue fever.Furthermore,the different parts of this valuable specie can be further used as a strong natural candidate against viral diseases. | Nisar Ahmad Hina Fazal Muhammad Ayaz Bilal Haider Abbasi Ijaz Mohammad Lubna Fazal | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,4: | 3 |

| 6 | In vivo laxative, anti-diarrheal, hepatoprotective and diuretic investigations of Sterculia diversifolia and its isolated compounds显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigated the laxative,anti-diarrheal,hepatoprotective and diuretic activity of Sterculia diversifolia and its isolated compounds.METHODS:The laxative activity was studied by counting wet stools while anti-diarrheal activity was performed by measuring gastrointestinal tract motility.Hepatoprotective activity was studied by biochemical and histo-pathological analysis while diuretic activity was performed by urine collection protocol.RESULTS:Doses of 30 and 100 mg/kg of crude methanolic extract of Sterculia diversifolia(MESD)stem bark and leaves,significantly(P<0.05,P<0.01)produced wet feces in subjects pretreated with atropine while 8-hydroxyquercetin and dihydroquercetin showed highly significant(P<0.001)results by increasing fecal weight and water contents without producing diarrhea.MESD stem bark and leaves also dose-dependently lowered diar-rhea while 8-hydroxyquercetin and dihydroquercetin showed highly significant(P<0.001)results by producing shaped stools in mice.MESD,8-hydroxyquercetin and dihydroquercetin offered significant protection against histopathological changes in the liver.Diuretic activity of Crude MESD stem bark and leaves extracts shows highly significant diuretic effect while dihydroquercetin showed better results than 8-hydroxyquercetin.CONCLUSION:It is concluded that Sterculia diversifolia and its isolated compounds bears laxative,anti-diarrheal,hepatoprotective and diuretic effects. | Fazle Rabbi Amir Zada Amna Nisar Muhammad Sohail Saifullah Khan Khalil Abid Ali Ahmad | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,5: | 2 |

| 10 | 何首乌水提物及其活性成分大黄素通过调控胆固醇代谢抑制软骨细胞炎症缓解骨关节炎的研究显示文摘[目的]何首乌是一种被广泛应用的传统中草药,具有多种药理作用。经过炮制加工后具有不同的药理作用。然而,何首乌炮制前后的化学成分变化,以及其炮制品具补肝肾、强筋骨,进而是否具有治疗骨关节炎的功效作用尚不清楚。因此,本研究探索制首乌是否具有改善骨关节炎的药效作用,并研究制首乌中主要活性成分在防治骨关节炎作用中的分子机制。[方法]采用高效液相色谱法对炮制前后何首乌水提物进行对比分析。利用GEO数据库及R语言对骨关节炎疾病靶点进行KEGG和GO富集分析。通过GC-MS代谢组学技术测定经药物处理前后软骨细胞的代谢表征。[结果]结果显示何首乌炮制后具有改善骨关节炎的药效作用,且炮制后活性成分大黄素含量显著增加。GEO数据库分析进一步证明骨关节炎的发病进程与生物代谢途径存在较大关联。大黄素能够在一定程度上促进软骨细胞增殖,并显著抑制炎症因子的表达。代谢组学结果显示,大黄素通过调节5种代谢途径包括:氨基酸代谢、脂肪酸合成、胆固醇代谢等参与延缓软骨细胞退变,进而抑制骨关节炎的发生发展。[结论]本研究揭示了经过中药炮制后的制何首乌具有抑制骨关节炎的功效作用,并证实经过炮制后主要增量物质大黄素是产生抗炎药理活性,进而治疗骨关节炎的活性成分,本研究为制何首乌治疗骨关节炎提供了科学依据。 | 李兰清 许海樱 瞿领航 Maryam Nisar Muhammad Farrukh Nisar 刘先琼 许康 | 2023 | Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine2023,3,2: | 1 |

| 17 | Effects of drug-polymer dispersions on solubility and in vitro diffusion of artemisinin across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane显示文摘Artemisinin(ART) is a sesquiterpene lactone with an endo-peroxide bridge that is thought to be responsible for its antimalarial activity.It has low oral bioavailability because of aqueous insolubility,which leads to local toxicity at the site of aggregation.The present work focused on increasing its solubility and evaluating its permeation across a model membrane to mimic transdermal delivery that bypasses the hepatic metabolism.For this purpose,physical mixtures(PM),solid dispersions(SD) and lyophilized dispersions(LD) with different drug-polymer ratios(1:0.5,1:1,1:2,1:4 and 1:9) were prepared using the hydrophilic polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).Drug-polymer dispersions were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Solubility was measured in three solvents:de-ionized water,phosphate buffered saline(PBS) and methanol.The toluene-water partition coefficient was evaluated and compared with the literature and calculated logP values.In vitro diffusion of ART was studied across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane from a saturated solution of drug-polymer dispersions.XRD patterns showed a gradual decrease in crystallinity of ART with increasing polymer concentration,while FTIR confirmed no interactions between ART and PVP.Solubility was increased up to 4-,5-and 8-fold for LD in water,PBS and methanol,respectively.The logP for toluene-water was 2.65 ± 0.3,which is in good agreement with literature and calculated logP values.Permeation was enhanced,which is attributed to the decrease in crystallinity and increase in wettability of the drug.The ART flux was significantly higher than that of pure ART(0.12 ± 0.01) with increasing PVP concentration for SD and LD formulations.In conclusion,drug-polymer dispersions with PVP improve the pharmaceutical properties of ART in the order LD>SD>PM. | SHAHZAD Yasser SHAH Syed Nisar Hussain ANSARI Muhammad Tayyab RIAZ Romana SAFDAR Aasma HUSSAIN Talib MALIK Madeeha | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,14: | 1 |

The development of this technique for elemental analysis of pharmaceutical products may eventually revolutionize the field of human health. Under normal circumstances, the elemental analysis of pharmaceutical products based on chemical methods is time-consuming and complicated. In this investigation, the principal aim is to develop an LIBS-based methodology for elemental analysis of pharmaceutical products. This LIBS technique was utilized for qualitative as well as quantitative analysis of the elements present in Ca-based tablets. All the elements present in the tablets were detected and their percentage compositions were verified in a single shot, using the proposed instrument. These elements(e.g., Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, and others) were identified by the wavelengths of their spectral lines, which were verified using the NIST database. The approximate amount of each element was determined based on their observed peaks and the result was in exact agreement with the content specification. The determination of the composition of prescription drug for patients is highly important in numerous circumstances. For example, the exploitation of LIBS may facilitate elemental decomposition of medicines to determine the accuracy of the stated composition information.
