PI3K signaling pathway targeting by using different molecular approaches to treat cancer显示文摘Recent evidence of research has been proposed that the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K) pathway is noticeable target for searching novel anticancer agents. The phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K) is accountable for harmonizing a diverse range of cell functions, such as transcription, proliferation, cell survival, cell growth, degranulation, vesicular trafficking and cell migration, which are mostly involved in carcinogenesis. Particularly, PI3K-mediated signaling molecules and its effects on gene expression contribute to tumorigenesis. PI3Ks generally are grouped into three distinct classes: Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ according to their structure and function. The class IA of PI3K includes an alpha, beta or delta p110 catalytic subunit(p110α, p110β, or p110γ), which are associated with the activation of RTKs. Mutations in PIK3CA, the gene encoding the p110α catalytic subunit of PI3K, have just been recognized as novel mechanisms of inducing oncogenic PI3K signaling. Therefore, the class IA PI3K is the only one of most evidently implicated in cancer. The PI3K pathway is mostly mutated in more cancer patients compared with normal person, making it an eyecatching molecular target for analyses based on inhibitor molecule. In this article, we highlighted the signaling effects and regulation pathway of PI3K involved in the development and survival of tumor cells. The consequence and intricacy of PI3K pathway made it an essential beneficial target for cancer treatment. | Mohammad Rashid Shahid Karim Babar Ali Shamshir Khan Makhmur Ahmad Asif Husain Ravinesh Mishra | 2017 | Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2017,26,9: | 7
MI-NLMS adaptive beamforming algorithm for smart antenna system applications显示文摘A Matrix Inversion Normalized Least Mean Square (MI-NLMS) adaptive beamforming algorithm was developed for smart antenna application. The MI-NLMS which combined the individual good aspects of Sample Matrix Inversion (SMI) and the Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithms is described. Simulation results showed that the less complexity MI-NLMS yields 15 dB improvements in interference suppression and 5 dB gain enhancement over LMS algorithm, converges from the initial iteration and achieves 24% BER improvements at cochannel interference equal to 5. For the case of 4-element uniform linear array antenna, MI-NLMS achieved 76% BER reduction over LMS algorithm. | MOHAMMAD Tariqul Islam ZAINOL Abidin Abdul Rashid | 2006 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2006,7,10: | 7
Antimicrobial activities of the rhizome extract of Zingiber zerumbet Linn显示文摘Objective:To investigate antimicrobial effects of ethanolic extract of Zingiber zerumbet(Z.zerumbet)(L.)Smith and its chloroform and petroleum ether soluble fractions against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Methods:The fresh rhizomes of Zingiber zerumbet were extracted in cold with ethanol(4.0 L)after concentration. The crude ethanol extract was fractionated by petroleum ether and chloroform to form a suspension of ethanol extract(15.0 g),petroleum ether fraction(6.6 g)and chloroform soluble fraction(5.0 g).The crude ethanol extract and its petroleum ether and chloroform fractions were evaluated for antibacterial and antifungal activity against thirteen pathogenic bacteria and three fungi by the disc diffusion method.Commercially available kanamycin(30μg/disc)was used as standard disc and blank discs impregnated with the respective solvents were used as negative control. Results:At a concentration of 400μg/disc,all the samples showed mild to moderate antibacterial and antifungal activity and produced the zone of inhibition ranging from 6 mm to 10 mm.Among the tested samples, the crude ethanol extract showed the highest activity against Vibrio parahemolyticus(V.parahemolyticus).The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of the crude ethanol extract and its fractions were within the value of 128-256μg/mL against two Gram positive and four Gram negative bacteria and all the samples showed the lowest MIC value against V.parahemolyticus(128μg/mL).Conclusions:It can be concluded that, potent antibacterial and antifungal phytochemicals are present in ethanol extract of Z.zerumbet(L.). | Golam Kader Farjana Nikkon Mohammad Abdur Rashid Tanzima Yeasmin | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,5: | 4
Viral respiratory infections among Hajj pilgrims in 2013显示文摘Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-Co V) has emerged in the Arabian Gulf region, with its epicentre in Saudi Arabia, the host of the ‘Hajj' which is the world's the largest mass gathering. Transmission of MERS-Co V at such an event could lead to its rapid worldwide dissemination. Therefore, we studied the frequency of viruses causing influenza-like illnesses(ILI) among participants in a randomised controlled trial at the Hajj 2013. We recruited 1038 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, Australia and Qatar during the first day of Hajj and followed them closely for four days. A nasal swab was collected from each pilgrim who developed ILI. Respiratory viruses were detected using multiplex RT-PCR. ILI occurred in 112/1038(11%) pilgrims. Their mean age was 35 years, 49(44%) were male and 35(31%) had received the influenza vaccine pre-Hajj. Forty two(38%) pilgrims had laboratory-confirmed viral infections; 28(25%) rhinovirus, 5(4%) influenza A, 2(2%) adenovirus, 2(2%) human coronavirus OC43/229 E, 2(2%) parainfluenza virus 3, 1(1%) parainfluenza virus 1, and 2(2%) dual infections. No MERS-Co V was detected in any sample. Rhinovirus was the commonest cause of ILI among Hajj pilgrims in 2013. Infection control and appropriate vaccination are necessary to prevent transmission of respiratory viruses at Hajj and other mass gatherings. | Osamah Barasheed Harunor Rashid Mohammad Alfelali Mohamed Tashani Mohammad Azeem Hamid Bokhary Nadeen Kalantan Jamil Samkari Leon Heron Jen Kok Janette Taylor Haitham El Bashir Ziad A.Memish Elizabeth Haworth Edward C.Holmes Dominic E Dwyer Atif Asghar Robert Booy | 2014 | Virologica Sinica2014,29,6: | 3
Comparative analysis of metabolite changes in two contrasting rice genotypes in response to low-nitrogen stress显示文摘Identification of metabolites responsible for tolerance to low nitrogen availability(low-N)will aid in the genetic improvement of rice yield under nitrogen deficiency. In this study,a backcross introgression line(G9)and its recurrent parent Shuhui 527(SH527),which show differential responses to low-N stress, were used to identify metabolites associated with lowN tolerance in rice.Differences in metabolite contents in the leaves of G9 and SH527 at three growth stages under low-N stress were assessed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Many metabolites, including amino acids and derivatives, were highly enriched in G9 compared with SH527 under the control condition, suggesting that the two genotypes had basal metabolite differences.Low-N stress induced genotype-specific as well as growth stagedependent metabolite changes.Metabolites induced specifically in G9 that were involved in glycolysis and tricarboxylic acid metabolism were enriched at the tillering and grain filling stages, and metabolites involved in nitrogen and proline metabolism were enriched at the booting stage.Enrichment of pyroglutamate,glutamate,2-oxoglutarate,sorbose,glycerate-2-P,and phosphoenolpyruvic acid in G9 suggests that these metabolites could be involved in low-N stress tolerance. The results presented here provide valuable information for further elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of low-N tolerance in crops. | Xiuqin Zhao Wensheng Wang Ziyan Xie Yongming Gao Chunchao Wang Muhammed Mahbubur Rashid Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Binying Fu Zhikang Li | 2018 | The Crop Journal2018,6,5: | 2
Recent Insights into Signaling Responses to Cope Drought Stress in Rice显示文摘Drought is one of the hot topics needing urgent attention in the current era of climate change. It massively disturbs the rice growth and productivity and is becoming a serious threat. The drought avoidance strategies in rice include stomatal closure, cellular adaptation and changes in root development. Moreover, the endogenous plant hormones(abscisic acid and jasmonic acid)and reactive oxygen species have paramount importance in drought tolerance in rice. The drought tolerance induces modification in biochemical, molecular and physiological properties of plants. At the molecular level, expression of several transcription-factors is modulated which further determine the activation of drought responsive gene families.Mitogen activated protein kinases and Ca signaling pathways initiate an array of signaling cascade for mediating the gene expression in rice.Approaches, conventional breeding methods combined with modern emerging techniques such as genetic engineering,to improve rice drought tolerance were discussed. This review provided recent insights into major regulatory factors against drought stress, signaling mechanisms and molecular engineering strategies(including conventional transgenic and recent genome editing approaches)to induce drought tolerance in rice. | Muhammad Mahran ASLAM Muhammad Abdul Rehman RASHID Mohammad Aquil SIDDIQUI Muhammad Tahir KHAN Fozia FARHAT Shafquat YASMEEN Imtiaz Ahmad KHAN Shameem RAJA Fatima RASOOL Mahboob Ali SIAL ZHAO Yan | 2022 | Rice science2022,29,2: | 2
Sinapic acid ameliorates D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharideinduced fulminant hepatitis in rats:Role of nuclear factor erythroidrelated factor 2/heme oxygenase-1 pathways显示文摘BACKGROUND Sinapic acid(SA)has been shown to have various pharmacological properties such as antioxidant,antifibrotic,anti-inflammatory,and anticancer activities. Its mechanism of action is dependent upon its ability to curb free radical production and protect against oxidative stress-induced tissue injuries.AIM To study the hepatoprotective effects of SA against lipopolysaccharide(LPS)/Dgalactosamine(D-GalN)-induced acute liver failure(ALF)in rats.METHODS Experimental ALF was induced with an intraperitoneal(i.p.)administration of 8μg LPS and 800 mg/kg D-GalN in normal saline.SA was administered orally once daily starting 7 d before LPS/D-GalN treatment.RESULTS Data showed that SA ameliorates acute liver dysfunction, decreases serum levels of alanine transaminase(ALT),and aspartate aminotransferase(AST),as well as malondialdehyde(MDA)and NO levels in ALF model rats. However, pretreatment with SA(20 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg)reduced nuclear factor kappalight-chain-enhancer of activated B cells(NF-κB)activation and levels of inflammatory cytokines(tumor necrosis factor-αand interleukin 6).Also,SA increased the activity of the nuclear factor erythroid-related factor 2/heme oxygenase-1(Nrf2/HO-1)signaling pathway.CONCLUSION In conclusion,SA offers significant protection against LPS/D-GalN-induced ALF in rats by upregulating Nrf2/HO-1 and downregulating NF-κB. | Mushtaq Ahmad Ansari Mohammad Raish Yousef A Bin Jardan Ajaz Ahmad Mudassar Shahid SheikhFayaz Ahmad Nazrul Haq Mohammad Rashid Khan Saleh A Bakheet | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,7: | 2
bla_(CTX-M),bla_(TEM),and bla_(SHV) in Enterobacteriaceae from North-Indian tertiary hospital:high occurrence of combination genes显示文摘Objective:To delineate the frequency of occurrence of blaCTX-M,blaTEM,and blaSHV in Enterobacteriaceae from North-Indian tertiary hospital. Methods:A random collection of a subset of 45 Escherichia coli(E.coli) and 28 Klebsiella pneumoniae(K.pneumoniae) that was resistant to a third generation cephalosporin and obtained during 2007-2008 was selected for detailed screening for blaCTX-M,blaTEM,and blaSHV by monoplex PCRs.The isolates demonstrating the presence of blaCTX-M alleles were characterized for the specific CTX-M-genogroup by using a multiplex PCR.Results:Resistance to cefoperazone, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, cefoxitin and piperacillin was 100%each in K.pneumoniae isolates, whereas these resistancerates for E.coli isolates were 93.1%,83.8%,91.9%,93.6%,97.3%and 97.1%,respectively. Concomitant resistance to aminoglycosides, quinolones and aztreonam was also noticed.Presence of any of the bla genes(blaCTX-M,blaTEM,and blaSHV) was noticed in a total of 28(38.4%) isolates of the 73 isolates studied. Many isolates demonstrated occurrence of these genes in various combinations.blaCTX-M,blaTEM,and blaSHV were noticed in 28.8%,10.9%and 13.7%isolates, respectively.Multiplex PCR in blaCTX-M harboring isolates demonstrated the presence of CTX-MGenogroup -1 and sequencing for the specific CTX-M-type revealed presence of CTX-M-15 type. RAPD typing showed wide diversity in isolates. Conclusions:This is amongst the premier report describing the simultaneous occurrence of bloTEM,blaSHV,and blaampC in Indian Enterobacteriaceae and that wider dissemination of these genes,as demonstrated by diversity of isolates, raises concern and emphasizes a need for extensive search for the presence of these gene pools in Indian subcontinent. | Mohammed Shahid Anuradha Singh Farrukh Sobia Mohammad Rashid Abida Malik Indu Shukla Haris Manzoor Khan | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,2: | 2
