1Glycemic index,glycemic load and insulinemic index of Chinese starchy foods显示文摘AIM:To determine the glycemic index(GI),glycemic load(GL)and insulinemic index(Ⅱ)of five starchy foods that are commonly used in Chinese diets.METHODS:Ten healthy subjects aged between 20-30 years were recruited.Each subject was asked to consume 50 g of available carbohydrate portions of test foods and reference food.Finger capillary blood samples were collected at the start of eating and 15,30,45,60,90 and 120 min after consumption.The GI and Ⅱ of foods were calculated from the ratio of incremental area under the glucose/insulin response curves of test and reference foods.The GL for each test food was determined from its GI value and carbohydrate content.RESULTS:The results showed that brown rice elicited the highest postprandial glucose and insulin responses,followed by taro,adlay,yam and mung bean noodles,which produced the lowest.Among the five starchy foods,brown rice evoked the highest GI and GL at 82±0.2 and 18±0.2,followed by taro(69±0.4,12±0.2),adlay(55±0.4,10±0.2),yam(52±0.3,9±0.0)and mung bean noodles(28±0.5,7±0.2),respectively.The Ⅱ values of the test foods corresponded with GI values.Similarly,brown rice gave the highest Ⅱ at 81±0.1,followed by taro(73±0.3),adlay(67±0.3),yam(64±0.5) and mung bean noodles(38±0.3).All five starchy foods had lower GI,GL and Ⅱ than reference bread(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The GI,GL and Ⅱ values of starchy foods provide important information for the public to manage their diet and could be useful for the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus.Meng-Hsueh Amanda Lin Shin Lu Jenshinn Lin 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,39:12
2Variation in Summer Surface Air Temperature over Northeast Asia and Its Associated Circulation Anomalies显示文摘This study investigates the interannual variation of summer surface air temperature over Northeast Asia(NEA) and its associated circulation anomalies.Two leading modes for the temperature variability over NEA are obtained by EOF analysis.The first EOF mode is characterized by a homogeneous temperature anomaly over NEA and therefore is called the NEA mode.This anomaly extends from southeast of Lake Baikal to Japan,with a central area in Northeast China.The second EOF mode is characterized by a seesaw pattern,showing a contrasting distribution between East Asia(specifically including the Changbai Mountains in Northeast China,Korea,and Japan) and north of this region.This mode is named the East Asia(EA) mode.Both modes contribute equivalently to the temperature variability in EA.The two leading modes are associated with different circulation anomalies.A warm NEA mode is associated with a positive geopotential height anomaly over NEA and thus a weakened upper-tropospheric westerly jet.On the other hand,a warm EA mode is related to a positive height anomaly over EA and a northward displaced jet.In addition,the NEA mode tends to be related to the Eurasian teleconnection pattern,while the EA mode is associated with the East Asia-Pacific/PacificJapan pattern.Wei CHEN Xiaowei HONG Riyu LU Aifen JIN Shizhu JIN Jae-Cheol NAM Jin-Ho SHIN Tae-Young GOO Baek-Jo KIM 2016Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2016,33,1:6
3ZnS coating of cathode facilitates lean‐electrolyte Li‐S batteries显示文摘Tremendous effort has been devoted to lithium‐sulfur batteries,where flooded electrolytes have been employed ubiquitously.The use of lean electrolytes albeit indispensable for practical applications often causes low capacity and fast capacity fading of the sulfur cathode;thus,the electrolyte/sulfur active mass ratios below 5μL/mg have been rarely reported.Herein,we demonstrate that ZnS coating transforms sulfur cathode materials electrolyte‐philic,which tremendously promotes the performance in lean electrolytes.The ZnS‐coated Li2S@graphene cathode delivers an initial discharge capacity of 944mAh/g at an E/S ratio of 2μL/mg at the active mass loading of 5.0 mg Li2S/cm^2,corresponding to an impressive specific energy of 500Wh/kg based on the mass of cathode,electrolyte,and the assumed minimal mass of lithium metal anode.Density functional theory calculations reveal strong binding between ZnS crystals and electrolyte solvent molecules,explaining the better wetting properties.We also demonstrate the reversible cycling of a hybrid cathode of ZnS‐coated Li2S@graphene mixed with VS2 as an additive at an E/AM(active mass)ratio of 1.1μL/mg,equivalent to the specific energy of 432 Wh/kg on the basis of the mass of electrodes and electrolyte.Woochul Shin Jun Lu Xiulei Ji 2019Carbon Energy2019,1,2:5
4Characterization and validation of somatic mutation spectrum to reveal heterogeneity in gastric cancer by single cell sequencing显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC) is a highly heterogeneous disease with multiple cellular types and poor prognosis.However, the cellular evolution and molecular basis of GC at the individual intra-tumor level has not been well demonstrated. We performed single-cell whole exome sequencing to detect somatic singlenucleotide variants(SNVs) and significantly mutated genes(SMGs) among 34 tumor cells and 9 normal cells from a patient with GC. The Complete Prediction for Protein Conformation(CPPC) approach directly predicting the folding conformation of the protein 3D structure with Protein Folding Shape Code, combined with functional experiments were used to confirm the characterization of mutated SMGs in GC cells. We identified 201 somatic SNVs, including 117 non-synonymous mutations in GC cells. Further analysis identified 24 significant mutated genes(SMGs) in single cells, for which a single amino acid change might affect protein conformation. Among them, two genes(CDC27 and FLG) that were mutated only in single cells but not in the corresponding tumor tissue, were recurrently present in another GC tissue cohort, and may play a potential role to promote carcinogenesis, as confirmed by functional characterization.
