1Larvicidal activity of Dregea volubilis and Bombax malabaricum leaf extracts against the filarial vector Culex quinquefasciatus显示文摘Objective:To analyze the larvicidal activity of two plant leaf powder and leaf-extracts, Dregea volubilis and Bombax malabaricum against Culex quinquefasciatus.Methods:The larvicidal bioassay was done for powdered leaves of Dregea volubilis and Bombax malabaricum individually and their methanol extracts against first-,second-,third- and fourth-instar larval forms of Culex quinquefasciatus.Mortality rate was recorded after 24,48 and 72 h of postexposure. LC50 and LG90 values were calculated at different time intervals for third instar larvae. Results:All the graded concentration(0.1%,0.2%,0.3%,0.4%,0.5%) of powdered leaves showed significant(P <0.05) larval mortality.The mortality rate was higher in 50 ppm doses of methanolic extracts of both the plants against Culex quinquefaciatus.The corresponding <C50 values were 56.97 ppm and 48.85 ppm,respectively after 24 h of exposure.There is no mortality of non-target organism such as Chironomous circumdatus,Oreochromis niloticus niloticus and Diplonichus annulatum within 72 h of post exposure to 0.1%,0.2%,0.3%crude powdered leaves and methanolic extracts of both the two individual plants under the laboratory condition.The results of preliminary qualitative phytochemical analysis of both the plants revealed the presence of many bioactive principles such as steroids,tannins,flavonoids,triterpenoids,saponins,etc. that may be responsible for their bio-control potentiality.Conclusions:The results have shown potential and eco-friendly use of both plant extracts against larva of Culex quinquefasciatus for the first time.Emdad Hossain Anjali Rawani Goutam Chandra Subhash C.Mandal Jayanta Kumar Gupta 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,6:3
2Effect of tool rotational speed on the particle distribution in friction stir welding of AA6092/17.5 SiCp-T6 composite plates and its consequences on the mechanical property of the joint显示文摘This study investigates the effect of tool rotational speed(TRS)on particle distribution in nugget zone(NZ)through quantitative approach and its consequences on the mechanical property of friction stir welded joints of AA6092/17.5 SiCp-T6 composite.6 mm thick plates are welded at a constant tool tilt angle of 2°and tool traverse speed of 1 mm/s by varying the TRS at 1000 rpm,1500 rpm and 2000 rpm with a taper pin profiled tool.Microstructure analysis shows large quantity of uniformly shaped smaller size SiC particle with lower average particle area which are homogeneously distributed in the NZ.The fragmentation of bigger size particles has been observed because of abrading action of the hard tool and resulting shearing effect and severe stress generation due to the rotation of tool.The particles occupy maximum area in the matrix compared to that of the base material(BM)due to the redistribution of broken particles as an effect of TRS.The migration of particles towards the TMAZ-NZ transition zone has been also encountered at higher TRS(2000 rpm).The microhardness analysis depicts variation in average hardness from top to bottom of the NZ,minimum for 1500 rpm and maximum for 2000 rpm.The impact strength at 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm remains close to that of BM(21.6 J)while 2000 rpm shows the accountable reduction.The maximum joint efficiency has been achieved at 1500 rpm(84%)and minimum at 1000 rpm(68%)under tensile loading.Fractographic analysis shows mixed mode of failure for BM,1000 rpm and 1500 rpm,whereas 2000 rpm shows the brittle mode of failure.Uttam Acharya Barnik Saha Roy Subhash Chandra Saha 2020Defence Technology(防务技术)2020,16,2:2
3Willow (Salix fragilis Linn.):A Multipurpose Tree Species under Pest Attack in the Cold Desert of Lahaul Valley,Northwestern Himalaya,India显示文摘爆竹柳(Salix fragilis)是拉胡尔(Lahaul)山谷冻原地区(位于印度喜马拉雅西北部)本地农林生态系统中分布最为广泛的一个柳树树种。目前,严重的害虫侵袭以及其他植物传染病已经威胁到该树种的生存状况。作为一种多用途的柳树,爆竹柳不仅具有提高植被覆盖度的功能,同时也是一种重要的薪材和饲料来源。本研究对区内Khoksa、Jahlma和Hinsa等三个村庄的爆竹柳进行了较为详细的调查。结果表明,爆竹柳分别为Khoksa、Jahlma和Hinsa三个村庄提供了69.5%、29%、42%的薪材来源。但令人吃惊的是,目前该地区仅有30.0±20.1%的爆竹柳处于健康状态,55.2±16.1%已经枯萎,14.8±6.1%由于受到害虫入侵和其他植物传染病的共同威胁而即将枯萎。建议以试验为基础,引进当地的野生种以及喜马拉雅类似地区的其他驯化种,以求维持拉胡尔地区原有农林生态系统中的柳树种植模式。Yashwant S.Rawat Santaram S.0inam Subhash C.R.Vishvakarma. 16Fatal Delftia acidovorans infection in an immunocompetent patient with empyema显示文摘Delftia acidovorans(earlier known as Comamonas acidovorans) is an aerobic,non-fermentative, Cram negative rod,classified in the Pseudomonas rRNA homology Group 111.Reports of isolation of the organism from serious infections like central venoug catheter associated bacleremia. corneal ulcers,otitis media exist.The microbiologists can identify this organism based on an orange indole reaction.This reaction demonstrates the organism's ability to produce anthranilic acid from tryptophan on addition of Kovac's reagent;which gives the media its characteristic 'pumpkin orange' colour.Here we report the isolation of this organism from the Endotracheal tube aspirate of a 4 year old child.With the increasing use of invasive devices,it has become important to recognize these non fermentative gram negative bacilli as emerging source of infection even in immunocompetent individuals.Sadia Khan Sujatha Sistla Rahul Dhodapkar Subhash Chandra Parija 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,11:1
