| 1 | Low-cost high entropy alloy(HEA)for high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction(OER)显示文摘Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key step involved both in water splitting devices and rechargeable metal-air batteries,and hence,there is an urgent need for a stable and low-cost material for efficient OER.In the present investigation,Co-Fe-Ga-NiZn(CFGNZ)high entropy alloy(HEA)has been utilized as a low-cost electrocatalyst for OER.Herein,after cyclic voltammetry activation,CFGNZ-nanoparticles(NPs)are covered with oxidized surface and form high entropy(oxy)hydroxides(HEOs),exhibiting a low overpotential of 370 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2)with a small Tafel slope of 71 mV/dec.CFGNZ alloy has higher electrochemical stability in comparison to state-of-the art RuO2 electrocatalyst as no degradation has been observed up to 10 h of chronoamperometry.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies after 10 h of long-term chronoamperometry test showed no change in the crystal structure,which confirmed the high stability of CFGNZ.The density functional theory(DFT)based calculations show that the closeness of d(p)-band centers to the Fermi level(EF)plays a major role in determining active sites.This work highlights the tremendous potential of CFGNZ HEA for OER,which is the primary reaction involved in water splitting. | Lalita Sharma Nirmal Kumar Katiyar Arko Parui Rakesh Das Ritesh Kumar Chandra Sekhar Tiwary Abhisek K.Singh Aditi Halder Krishanu Biswas | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,6: | 5 |

| 17 | Dependence of fluid flow on cleat aperture distribution and aperture–length scaling: a case study from Gondwana coal seams of Raniganj Formation, Eastern India显示文摘Dimensions and mutual relationships amongst fracture(cleat)parameters such as maximum aperture width,average aperture width,length,spacing etc.control the connectivity within a fracture network and the fluid flow in a coal seam as the matrix permeability,here,is negligible.In this paper,we document cleat size distributions and investigate length–aperture relationships from coals of Raniganj coalfield in Eastern India.This coalfield has a proven extractable reserve of six billion tons of coal and holds immense potential to be one of the largest coal bed methane fields serving India’s growing energy needs.Here,cleat length(L)correlates with corresponding maximum aperture width(Dmax)in a power-law function with an exponent of 0.84(DmaxαL0.84)instead of the commonly observed exponents of 1 or 0.5 applicable for other natural‘opening-mode’fractures.The conventional wisdom pertains that laminar fluid flow(Q)through an isolated,smooth-walled,parallel-plate fracture,embedded in an impermeable matrix,is directly proportional to the cube of its aperture width(b,equivalent to Davg;cubic law:Qαb3).This assumes a linear relationship between length and fracture aperture.However,the modified relationship between cleat length and average aperture width changes the cubic law applicable for Raniganj coal seam and now fluid flow correlates with aperture width in a power-law function with an exponent of 4.25(Qαb4.25)instead of 3(cube).Such simplifications will come handy for the modeling and estimation of fluid flow as it will reduce the effort of cleat length measurement which is anyway difficult and can be misleading due to the risk of undersampling. | Krishanu Bandyopadhyay Jyotirmoy Mallik Trishit Ghosh | 2020 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2020,7,1: | 0 |
| 18 | Trace fossil evidences of an Early Miocene paleoseismic event and depositional regime change from the Kutch(Kachchh) Basin显示文摘Unconsolidated siliciclastic sediments can undergo post-burial deformation, which leads to the formation of distinctive sedimentary structures, known as soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS). The presence of a series of sand volcanoes confined to a particular lithostratigraphic horizon can represent a paleoseismic activity and, thereby, exemplifies the concept of “seismite”. The Kutch Basin has been a tectonically active region since the initiation of eastern Gondwana rifting followed by a tectonic inversion during the Cenozoic due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates. A stratum-bound series of sand volcanoes belonging to the Khari Nadi Formation(KNF) is exposed along the banks of Khari River. They separate the shallow marine deposits below and non-marine deposits above with their characteristic marine and paleosol trace fossil suites, respectively. Although a seismogenic origin has been much debated for the SSDS,the ichnofabric analysis of the sand-volcano-bearing stratum unequivocally points toward such an origin under a shallow seafloor condition. In addition to the sedimentary regime change from an open shallow-marine setting to a continental depositional environment concomitant with basinal uplift, the behavior of the burrowing crustaceans testifies to a syn-depositional development of a fault network associated with the fluidization, sand volcanism, and the resilience of the trace-producers in surviving those processes until the sedimentary regime change in the overlying strata.
