| 1 | Preventive effect of glutamine on intestinal barrier dysfunction induced by severe trauma显示文摘AIM: To investigate the mechanism underlying intestinalbarrier function damage after severe trauma and thetherapeutic effect of glutamine.METHODS: Burned patients, and animal models of severstrauma replicated by hemorrhagic shock combined withendotoxin infusion and burn injury, were included in a serialexperiment. Effects of oral glutamine on intestinal barrierfunction were observed in scalded rets. Parametersmeasured in these experiments were as follows: plasmalevels of diamine oxidase (DAO), tumor necrosis factor(TNFα), endotoxin (LPS), and lactate as well as D-lactateby biochemical methods, lactose/mannitol (L/M) ratio inurine by SP-3400, and pathological examination of intestinalmucosa under light microscopy.RESULTS: Plasma DAO activity was significantly increasedafter injury. There was a negative correlation betweenplasma DAO and intestinal mucosal DAO or pHi ( r= -0.93,plasma 0.80 ± 0.93,2.83 ± 1.71, 1.14 ± 0.64,2.36 ± 2.06 and2.49± 1.67 vs intestinal 0.52± 0.12,0.34 ± 0.03,0.45 ± 0.18,0.37± 0.26 and 0.41 ± 0.07; r = - 0.533, plasma 0.87 ± 0.75,1.89± 1.13, 1.21 ± 0.23,3.03 ± 2.61 and 4.70 ± 1.22 Vs pHi7.03± 0.05,7.05 ± 0.06,7.14 ± 0.096,7.20 ± 0.08 and 7.05 ±0.07; P < 0.01-0.05). Positive correlations were foundbetween DAO activity and plasma TNFα, LPS, lactate, L/Mand D-lactate ( r = 0.817, 0.842, 0.872, and 0.951; plasmaDAO 0.87 ± 0.75,1.89 ± 1.13, 1.21 ± 0.23,3.03 ± 2.61 and 4.70± 1.22 vs TNF 0.08 ± 0.02,0.03 ± 0.25,0.17 ± 0.09,0.34 ± 0.15and 0.33 ± 0.18; vs LPS 0.14 ± 0.03,0.16 ± 0.04,0.21 ± 0.02,0.18± 0.16 and 0.37 ± 0.10; vs lactate 9.03 ± 2.19, 18.30 ±2.56,9.81 ± 2.83,12.01 ± 6.83, 12.01 ± 6.84 and 43.61 ± 11.27;vs L/M 0.03 ± 0.01,0.41 ± 0.27,0.62 ± 0.20, 1.70 ± 0.60; r =0.774, plasma DAO 1.25 ± 0.41,2.17 ± 0.71,2.29 ± 0.87, 1.23± 0.55 and 1.11 ± 0.47 vs D-lactate 8.37 ± 2.48, 18.25 ± 6.18,13.96 ± 4.94, 8.93 ± 3.00 and 12.39 ± 4.94; all P < 0.01),repestively. Damage of intestinal mucosa was found bypathological examination. Intestinal barrier function wasimproved to a certain extent by oral glutamine in scaldedrats.CONCLUSION: Intestinal barrier function was damaged in theearly stage after trauma. | 2 | Effect of wet flue gas desulfurization(WFGD) on fine particle(PM_(2.5)) emission from coal-fired boilers显示文摘In this study, the characteristics of fine particles before and after wet flue gas desulfurization(WFGD) in three coal-fired heating boilers in northern China were investigated by using a dilution-based emission sampling experimental system. The influences of the WFGD process on the mass and number concentrations as well as the chemical composition of fine particles were analyzed. The removal efficiency of desulfurization processes on particulate matter mass was 30.06%–56.25% for the three study units. The WFGD had a great influence on the size distributions of particle mass concentration and number concentration. A significant increase in the number and mass concentration of particles in the size range of 0.094–0.946 μm was observed. The watersoluble ion content accounted for a very large proportion of PM_(2.5) mass, and its proportion in PM_(2.5) increased from 28.39%–41.08% to 48.96%–61.21% after the WFGD process for the three units. | 6 | Zn–Ca–Al mixed oxide as efficient catalyst for synthesis of propylene carbonate from urea and 1,2-propylene glycol显示文摘A series of Zn–Ca–Al oxides with different CaO and ZnO contents have been prepared and evaluated in the synthesis of propylene carbonate(PC) from 1,2-propylene glycol(PG) and urea in a batch reactor. The effect of catalyst composition, basicity and reaction process parameters such as temperature, catalyst dose, molar ratio of PG to urea, purge gas flow and reaction time has been studied to find suitable reaction conditions for the PC synthesis. The PC selectivity and yield under the desired conditions could reach 98.4% and 90.8%, respectively. The best performing catalyst also exhibited a good reusability without appreciable loss in the PC selectivity and yield after five consecutive reaction runs. | 7 | Aeolian Facies Belts in the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘At least at the beginning of the last glacial epoch, the facies belts of dune sand, sandy loam and loess formed by winds had existed in the Taklimakan desert and areas south of it. There were no appreciable changes in the NE and NW wind systems and their wind fqrces that deposited dune sand, sandy loam and loess in the global cold stage since the last glacial epoch (accordingly no marked shifts of the boundaries of these aeolian facies belts took place. In the global warm stage since then, the climate in the Taklimakan desert and areas south of it became warm and dry, resulting in ablation of substantial volumes of ice and snow in their surrounding mountains and thus forming alluvial and diluvial deposits in the region. | 8 | Air-stability of sodium-based layered-oxide cathode materials显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries have the potential to be an alternative to lithium-ion batteries especially for applications such as large-scale grid energy storage. The development of suitable cathode materials is crucial to the commercialization of sodium-ion batteries.Sodium-based layered-type transition metal oxides are promising candidates as cathode materials as they offer decent energy density and are easy to be synthesized. Unfortunately, most layered oxides suffer from poor air-stability, which greatly increases the cost of manufacturing and handling. The air-sensitivity severely limits the development and commercial application of sodium-ion batteries. A review that summarizes the latest understanding and solutions of air-sensitivity is desired. In this review,the background and fundamentals of sodium-based layered-type cathode materials are presented, followed by a discussion on the latest research on air-sensitivity of these materials. The mechanism is complex and involves multiple chemical and physical reactions. Various strategies are shown to alleviate some of the corresponding problems and promote the feasible application of sodium-ion batteries, followed by an outlook on current and future research directions of air-stable cathode materials. | 9 | Novel magnetic silk fibroin scaffolds with delayed degradation for potential long-distance vascular repair显示文摘Although with the good biological properties,silk fibroin(SF)is immensely restrained in long-distance vascular defect repair due to its relatively fast degradation and inferior mechanical properties.It is necessary to construct a multifunctional composite scaffold based on SF.In this study,a novel magnetic SF scaffold(MSFCs)was prepared by an improved infiltration method.Compared with SF scaffold(SFC),MSFCs were found to have better crystallinity,magnetocaloric properties,and mechanical strength,which was ascribed to the rational introduction of iron-based magnetic nanoparticles(MNPs).Moreover,in vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that the degradation of MSFCs was significantly extended.The mechanism of delayed degradation was correlated with the dual effect that was the newly formed hydrogen bonds between SFC and MNPs and the complexing to tyrosine(Try)to inhibit hydrolase by internal iron atoms.Besides,theβ-crystallization of protein in MSFCs was increased with the rise of iron concentration,proving the beneficial effect after MNPS doped.Furthermore,although macrophages could phagocytose the released MNPs,it did not affect their function,and even a reasonable level might cause some cytokines to be upregulated.Finally,in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that MSFCs showed excellent biocompatibility and the growth promotion effect on CD34-labeled vascular endothelial cells(VECs).In conclusion,we confirm that the doping of MNPs can significantly reduce the degradation of SFC and thus provide an innovative perspective of multifunctional biocomposites for tissue engineering. | Xin Liu Yuxiang Sun Bo Chen Yan Li Peng Zhu Peng Wang Sen Yan Yao Li Fang Yang Ning Gu | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,1: | 3 |
| 10 | Antioxidant Effects of Oats Avenanthramides on Human Serum显示文摘The antioxidant ability of capsules containing oats avenanthramides on human body was evaluated in present study.Healthy people were randomized to supplementation with oats-derived avenanthramides capsules or placebo for 1 mon.Plasma lipid peroxides and antioxidant status were measured.For 8 capsules (containing 3.12 mg avenanthramides) groups,the levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduced glutathione hormone (GSH) were significantly increased by 8.4 and 17.9%,respectively (P<0.05),and malondialdehyde (MDA) level significantly decreased by 28.1%.The total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were lowered by 11.1,28.1,and 15.1%,respectively (P<0.05).The high density blood lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in the same treat was increased by 13.2%.Based on our research,it can be concluded that oats extract containing avenanthramides possessed a high antioxidative activity on humans.It indicated that oat avenanthramides could be used to prevent hyperlipemic and angiocardiopathy. | LIU Sen YANG Nan HOU Zhao-hua YAO Yang Lü Li ZHOU Xian-rong REN Gui-xing | 2011 | Agricultural Sciences in China2011,10,8: | 3 |
| 11 | Projections from D2 Neurons in Different Subregions of Nucleus Accumbens Shell to Ventral Pallidum Play Distinct Roles in Reward and Aversion显示文摘The nucleus accumbens shell(NAcSh) plays an important role in reward and aversion. Traditionally, NAc dopamine receptor 2-expressing(D2) neurons are assumed to function in aversion. However, this has been challenged by recent reports which attribute positive motivational roles to D2 neurons. Using optogenetics and multiple behavioral tasks, we found that activation of D2 neurons in the dorsomedial NAcSh drives preference and increases the motivation for rewards, whereas activation of ventral NAcSh D2 neurons induces aversion. Stimulation of D2 neurons in the ventromedial NAcSh increases movement speed and stimulation of D2 neurons in the ventrolateral NAc Sh decreases movement speed. Combining retrograde tracing and in situ hybridization, we demonstrated that glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons in the ventral pallidum receive inputs differentially from the dorsomedial and ventral NAcSh. | 12 | Plate-like carbon-supported Fe_(3)C nanoparticles with superior electrochemical performance显示文摘Iron-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with higher theoretical capacity,natural abundance and cheapness have received considerable attention,but they still suffer from the fast capacity fading.To address this issue,we report a facile synthesis of plate-like carbonsupported Fe_(3)C nanoparticles through chemical blowing/carbonization under calcination.The ultrafine Fe_(3)C nanoparticles are prone to be oxidized when exposing in air;thus,Fe_(3)C/C with mild oxidization and the fully oxidized product of Fe_(2)O_(3)/C are successfully prepared by controlling the oxidization condition.When applied as an anode material in LIB,the Fe_(3)C/C electrode demonstrates excellent cycle stability(826 mAh·g^(-1)after 120 cycles under 500 mA·g^(-1))and rate performance(410.6 mAh·g^(-1) under 2 A·g^(-1)),compared with the Fe_(2)O_(3)/C counterpart.The enhanced electrochemical performance can be ascribed to the synergetic effect of the Fe_(3)C with mild oxidation and the unique hierarchical structure of plate-like carbon decorated with Fe_(3)C catalyst.More importantly,this work may offer new approaches to synthesize other transition metal(e.g.,Co,Ni)-based anode material by replacing the precursor ingredient. | Chuan Chen Sen Qian Tian-Hao Yao Jing-Hong Guo Hong-Kang Wang | 2021 | Rare Metals2021,40,6: | 2 |
