| 4 | Experimental demonstration of ultra-large-scale terahertz all-dielectric metamaterials显示文摘All-dielectric metamaterials have emerged as a promising platform for low-loss and highly efficient terahertz devices. However, existing fabrication methods have difficulty in achieving a good balance between precision and cost. Here, inspired by the nano-template-assisted self-assembly method, we develop a micro-templateassisted self-assembly(MTAS) method to prepare large-scale, high-precision, and flexible ceramic microsphere all-dielectric metamaterials with an area exceeding 900 cm × 900 cm. Free from organic solvents, vacuum, and complex equipment, the MTAS method ensures low-cost and environmentally friendly fabrication. The ceramic microsphere resonators can be readily assembled into nearly arbitrary arrangements and complex aggregates, such as dimers, trimers, quadrumers, and chains. However, most OAM antennas presentdisadvantages such as a complicated structure, low efficiency, and large divergence angle, which prevents their practicalapplications. So far, there are few papers and research focuses on the problem of the divergence angle. Herein, a metasurfaceantenna is proposed to obtain the OAM beams with a small divergence angle. The circular arrangement and phase gradient wereused to simplify the structure of the metasurface and obtain the small divergence angle, respectively. The proposed metasurfaceantenna presents a high transmission coefficient and effectively decreases the divergence angle of the OAM beam. All thetheoretical analyses and derivation calculations were validated by both simulations and experiments. | 10 | Melatonin ameliorates bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis via activating NRF2 and inhibiting galectin-3 expression显示文摘Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is a chronic interstitial lung disease with no effective therapies.Galectin-3(Gal-3),a marker of oxidative stress,plays a key role in the pathogenesis of PF.Fibroblast-myofibroblast differentiation(FMD)is an important source of fibrotic cells in PF.Previous studies showed that melatonin(MT)exerted anti-fibrotic effect in many diseases including PF through its antioxidant activity.In the present study we investigated the relationships among Gal-3,NRF2,ROS in FMD and their regulation by MT.We established an in vitro model of FMD in TGF-β1-treated human fetal lung fibroblast1(HFL1)cells and a PF mouse model via bleomycin(BLM)intratracheal instillation.We found that Gal-3 expression was significantly increased both in vitro and in vivo.Knockdown of Gal-3 in HFL1 cells markedly attenuated TGF-β1-induced FMD process and ROS accumulation.In TGF-β1-treated HFL1 cells,pretreatment with NRF2-specific inhibitor ML385(5μM)significantly increased the levels of Gal-3,α-SMA and ROS,suggesting that the expression of Gal-3 was regulated by NRF2.Treatment with NRF2-activator MT(250μM)blockedα-SMA and ROS accumulation accompanied by reduced Gal-3 expression.In BLM-induced PF model,administration of MT(5 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1),ip for 14 or 28 days)significantly attenuated the progression of lung fibrosis through up-regulating NRF2 and down-regulating Gal-3 expression in lung tissues.These results suggest that Gal-3 regulates TGF-β1-induced pro-fibrogenic responses and ROS production in FMD,and MT activates NRF2 to block FMD process by down-regulating Gal-3 expression.This study provides a useful clue for a clinical strategy to prevent PF. | Yue-jiao Lan Ming-han Cheng Hui-min Ji Yu-qian Bi Yong-yue Han Chong-yang Yang Xuan Gu Jian Gao Hong-liang Dong | 2023 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2023,44,5: | 2 |
| 11 | Hepatoprotective effects of cathepsin B inhibitor on acute hepatic failure induced by lipopolysaccharide/D-galactosamine in mice显示文摘BACKGROUND:Increasing evidence suggests that the inactivation of cathepsin B attenuates hepatocyte apoptosis and liver damage.This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of a cathepsin B inhibitor(CA-074me) on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)/D-galactosamine(D-GalN)-induced acute hepatic failure(AHF) in mice.METHODS:Mice were intraperitoneally injected with a combination of LPS/D-GalN to induce AHF with or without CA-074me pretreatment.The cumulative survival rates were calculated 48 hours after the induction of AHF.As well as changes in biochemical indicators and liver histology,hepatocyte apoptosis was assessed using a TUNEL method.Serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) production,caspase-3,caspase-8,and caspase-9 activity was evaluated.Cytosolic cytochrome c and Bcl-2 expression were measured by Western blotting.RESULTS:The marked elevation in serum aminotransferase activity and prothrombin time found in LPS/D-GalN-treated mice was significantly improved by pretreatment with CA074me.The efficacy of CA-074me was also confirmed by histological analysis and TUNEL assay.The survival rate significantly improved in LPS/D-GalN-induced mice given CA-074me compared with untreated mice.LPS/D-GalNinduced caspase-3 and caspase-9 activation was remarkably suppressed by CA-074me.However,the increased levels of serum TNF-α and elevated caspase-8 activity in AHF mice were not significantly reduced by CA-074me.Moreover,CA074me sharply reduced the increased expression of cytosolic cytochrome c and markedly augmented Bcl-2 expression.CONCLUSION:These results suggest that CA-074me has a protective effect in acute hepatic failure induced by LPS/D-GalN. | Bing-Zhu Yan Li-Yan Chen Lan Kang Xiao-Ren Wang Man-Ru Bi Wei Wang Bao-Shan Yang | 2013 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,1: | 2 |

| 15 | Isolation and functional analysis of transcription factor GmWRKY57B from soybean显示文摘WRKY proteins are a large family of transcriptional regulators in higher plants involved in many biological processes, such as responses to biotic and abiotic stress, plant development and metabolism. In this study, a soybean cDNA library was constructed and screened by yeast one-hybrid system using the 3×W-box element as a bait, and consequently a transcription factor, named GmWRKY57B, a member of group 3 of WRKY family, was obtained. GmWRKY57B specifically binds to the W-box of the Arabidopsis NPR1 (AtNPR1) promoter in yeast cells. This specific binding was further confirmed with an in vitro electrophoretic mobility shift assay. RT-PCR analysis showed that GmWRKY57B was expressed at a similar level in root, stem and leaf of the soybean plant. Overexpression of the GmWRKY57B gene in tobacco conferred the transgenics tolerance to drought stress. | 16 | Trans-base and trans-vault low-velocity penetrating brain injury:A retrospective comparative study of characteristics,treatment,and outcomes显示文摘Low-velocity penetrating brain injury(LVPBI)caused by foreign bodies can pose life-threatening emergencies.Their complexity and lack of validated classification data have prevented standardization of clinical management.We aimed to compare the trans-base and trans-vault phenotypes of LVPBI to help provide guidance for clinical decision-making of such injury type.;A retrospective study on LVPBI patients managed at our institution from November 2013 to March 2020 was conducted.We included LVPBI patients admitted for the first time for surgery,and excluded those with multiple injuries,gunshot wounds,pregnancy,severe blunt head trauma,etc.Patients were categorized into trans-base and trans-vault LVPBI groups based on the penetration pathway.Discharged patients were followed up by outpatient visit or telephone.The data were entered into the Electronic Medical Record system by clinicians,and subsequently derived by researchers.The demography and injury characteristics,treatment protocols,complications,and outcomes were analyzed and compared between the two groups.A t-test was used for analysis of normally distributed data,and a Mann-Whitney U test for non-parametric data.A generalized linear model was further established to determine whether the factors length of stay and performance scale score were influenced by each factor.;A total of 27 LVPBI patients were included in this analysis,comprised of 13(48.1%)trans-base cases and 14(51.9%)trans-vault cases.Statistical analyses suggested that trans-base LVPBI was correlated with deeper wounds;while the trans-vault phenotype was correlated with injury by metal foreign bodies.There was no difference in Glasgow Coma Scale score and the risk of intracranial hemorrhage between the two groups.Surgical approaches in the trans-base LVPBI group included subfrontal(n=5,38.5%),subtemporal(n=5,38.5%),lateral fissure(n=2,15.4%),and distal lateral(n=1,7.7%).All patients in the trans-vault group underwent a brain convex approach using the foreign body as reference(n=14,100%).Moreover,the two groups differed in application prerequisites for intracranial pressure monitoring and vessel-related treatment.Trans-base LVPBI was associated with higher rates of cranial nerve and major vessel injuries;in contrast,trans-vault LVPBI was associated with lower functional outcome scores.;Our findings suggest that trans-base and trans-vault LVPBIs differ in terms of characteristics,treatment,and outcomes.Further understanding of these differences may help guide clinical decisions and contribute to a better management of LVPBIs. | Yun Wu Tian-Ge Chen Si-Ming Chen Liang Zhou Meng Yuan Lei Wang Zi-Yuan Liu Chang-Long Bi Xiang-Ying Luo Song Lan Jin-Fang Liu | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2021,24,5: | 1 |
