| 1 | 3D reconstruction and capsid protein characterization of grass carp reovirus显示文摘Grass carp reovirus (GCRV) is a relatively new virus first isolated in China and is a member of the Aquareovirus genus of the Reoviridae family. Recent report of genomic se-quencing showed that GCRV shared high degree of homology with mammalian reovirus (MRV). As a step of our effort to understand the structural basis of GCRV pathogenesis, we determined the three-dimensional (3D) structure of GCRV capsid at 17 ? resolution by electron cryomicro-scopy. Each GCRV capsid has a multilayered organization, consisting of an RNA core, an inner, middle and outer protein layer. The outer layer is made up of 200 trimers that are arranged on an incomplete T=13 icosahedral lattice. A characteristic feature of this layer is the depression re-sulting from the absence of trimers around the peripentonal positions, revealing the underlying trimers on the middle layer. There are 120 subunits in the inner layer arranged with T=1 symme-try. These structural features are common to other members of the Reoviridae. Moreover, SDS-PAGE analysis showed that GCRV virions contain seven structural proteins (VP1-VP7). These structural proteins have a high degree of sequence homology to MRV, consistent with the structural similarities observed in our study. The high structural similarities of isolated GCRV and MRV suggest that future structural studies focusing on GCRV entering into and replicating within its host cell are necessary in order to fully understand the structural basis of GCRV pathogenesis. | Shah Sanket | 2005 | Science China(Life Sciences)2005,48,6: | 35 |
| 2 | Review on modeling of the anode solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘A passivation layer called the solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)is formed on electrode surfaces from decomposition products of electrolytes.The SEI allows Li+transport and blocks electrons in order to prevent further electrolyte decomposition and ensure continued electrochemical reactions.The formation and growth mechanism of the nanometer thick SEI films are yet to be completely understood owing to their complex structure and lack of reliable in situ experimental techniques.Significant advances in computational methods have made it possible to predictively model the fundamentals of SEI.This review aims to give an overview of state-of-the-art modeling progress in the investigation of SEI films on the anodes,ranging from electronic structure calculations to mesoscale modeling,covering the thermodynamics and kinetics of electrolyte reduction reactions,SEI formation,modification through electrolyte design,correlation of SEI properties with battery performance,and the artificial SEI design.Multiscale simulations have been summarized and compared with each other as well as with experiments.Computational details of the fundamental properties of SEI,such as electron tunneling,Li-ion transport,chemical/mechanical stability of the bulk SEI and electrode/(SEI/)electrolyte interfaces have been discussed.This review shows the potential of computational approaches in the deconvolution of SEI properties and design of artificial SEI.We believe that computational modeling can be integrated with experiments to complement each other and lead to a better understanding of the complex SEI for the development of a highly efficient battery in the future. | Aiping Wang Sanket Kadam Hong Li Siqi Shi Yue Qi | 2018 | npj Computational Materials2018,,1: | 20 |

| 6 | Injection of biosurfactant and chemical surfactant following hot water injection to enhance heavy oil recovery显示文摘This study investigates the potential of enhancing oil recovery from a Middle East heavy oil field via hot water injection followed by injection of a chemical surfactant and/or a biosurfactant produced by a Bacillus subtilis strain which was isolated from oil-contaminated soil.The results reveal that the biosurfactant and the chemical surfactant reduced the residual oil saturation after a hot water flood.Moreover,it was found that the performance of the biosurfactant increased by mixing it with the chemical surfactant.It is expected that the structure of the biosurfactant used in this study was changed when mixed with the chemical surfactant as a probable synergetic effect of biosurfactant-chemical surfactants was observed on enhancing oil recovery,when used as a mixture,rather than alone.This work proved that it is more feasible to inject the biosurfactant as a blend with the chemical surfactant,at the tertiary recovery stage.This might be attributed to the fact that in the secondary mode,improvement of the macroscopic sweep efficiency is important,whereas in the tertiary recovery mode,the microscopic sweep efficiency matters mainly and it is improved by the biosurfactantchemical surfactant mixture.Also as evidenced by this study,the biosurfactant worked better than the chemical surfactant in reducing the residual heavy oil saturation after a hot water flood. | Yahya Al-Wahaibi Hamoud Al-Hadrami Saif Al-Bahry Abdulkadir Elshafie Ali Al-Bemani Sanket Joshi | 2016 | Petroleum Science2016,13,1: | 2 |

| 16 | Robotic-assisted cholecystectomy: Current status and future application显示文摘Robotic-assisted cholecystectomy(RC)is increasingly common.However,its exact role remains unde-fined,with multiport conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC)being regarded as the established gold standard.This review aims to provide an overview of the evidence for RC and to define its current and future role.A literature search was performed on the PubMed and Medline databases to identify relevant articles published between 1994 and February 2022.The evidence obtained was summarised in a narrative style.Greater emphasis was placed on recent 10-year articles and studies of higher meth-odological quality.RC is noninferior to LC.The robotic platform facilitates the application of minimally invasive surgery in a way conventional laparoscopy cannot.LC remains appropriate for the majority of patients requiring cholecystectomy.The advantages of RC include inherent technical benefits,facilitating the learning of new surgical technology and its potential to reduce the risk of open conversion and bile leakage in certain populations(Mirizzi syndrome,complicated calculous disease,chronic liver disease and possibly malignancy).It also has increasing applicability to related biliary surgery.The limitations include cost,loss of tactile feedback and the learning curve associated with initial implementation.Future applications of robotic surgical systems include utilisation in difficult cholecystectomy,cases of biliary malignancy,telerobotic surgery and telementoring. | Simran Chandhok Phillip Chao Jonathan Koea Sanket Srinivasa | 2022 | Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2022,5,3: | 1 |
